TILLY'S POV
I scroll through my tagged photos, mostly group pictures of all of us and the caption being about y/n's disappearance. I like a couple of the sweet ones or the ones where they've edited our pictures, I wasn't going to ignore his fans when all they've done is show support. I shut my phone off as I hear a car door shut and I look up to see Mia and Alannah walking across the road to Ruel's porch where I was standing.
A: 'What's the emergency? Have they found her?' she says as they run up the stairs
T: 'No idea. I was waiting outside for you guys'
M: 'What are we waiting for? Open the door.'
I nod and quietly chuckle as I open the door. I walk behind Alannah and Mia as they walk down the long hallway to where we could all hear the boys talking but Mia stops quickly, causing me to bump into her.
M: 'What the fuck are you doing here?'
R: 'Mia-'
M: 'No seriously. We don't need you in our lives. You've tried to fuck with us one too many times Georgia, I'm sick of you' she spits out her words
GE: 'I came here to apologize and I have something that might help.' the tall blonde speaks up
A: 'Does it look like we care' Alannah says next to me
T: 'I'm lost...Who are you?' I say with confusion
M: 'Georgia is the fake ass wannabe Ruel's girlfriend since grade 10' Mia says without even breaking her eye contact with Georgia.
GE: 'I was not that desperate'
E: 'Really? Georgia. You tried many times to get with Ruel, even when you found out he had a girlfriend' Elliot crosses his arms and leans back on the wall behind him
GE: 'Ok, I didn't even know he had a girlfriend the first time'
M: 'I remember like it was yesterday'
FLASHBACK- 2 years ago
MIA'S POV
I laugh at y/n who took a bow before walking out of the classroom.
M: 'Nice, classy'
Y/N: 'It was an outstanding performance from me for my oral presentation if I do say so myself. I would say C, possibly C-'
We both laugh as we approached our lockers and took off our locks
M: 'Is Ruel taking us back to your house? I caught the bus this morning but my mum is happy to pick me up from there'
Y/N: 'Yeah, I think that was the plan from what I got from his messages at lunch, he should be outside' she says as she grabs her bag out of her locker and I do the same, closing our lockers in synchronization.
We walked out the front doorway, shuffling behind taller year 11's and trying to see Ruel's red car in the car park. As we find space, we spot him leaning against the passenger door to see him talking to a tall blonde in our school uniform.
M: 'What is she doing?'
Y/N: 'Who even is that?'
M: 'Does it matter? Go do something y/n. That's your man-' she waves her hand in front of my face, making me go quiet and realising she''s trying to listen to the conversation
G: 'Yeah, I'm new so if you wanna show me around the place.' she twirls her and I look at y/n, rolling her eyes
R: 'I'm sure you can find someone else..Kinda busy' Ruel's eyes meet ours as I keep in a slight laugh
G: 'I'm sure it won't take that long...Maybe tomorrow' I could just imagine her biting her lip and I hear y/n scoff and then chuckle
Y/N: 'It's so sad, it's funny'
R: 'I have plans...' he says while giving us pleading eyes and y/n sighs before walking up to them to save him
G: 'With what?'
Y/N: 'With his girlfriend' the girl jump at y/n's sudden appearance and Ruel's face lights up in relief
G: 'I don't see her anywhere...' she says as she looks y/n up and down
My mouth drops, who does she think she is? Those two bitches from the karaoke bar in Victorious? This wasn't going to end well...I watch and sigh as y/n steps in front of the girl, grabbing Ruel's face, kissing him passionately while he pulls her closer. She pulls away, tucking one of Ruel's strands of hair behind his ear
Y/N: 'Let's go'
Ruel steps aside, opening the passenger door for y/n as she smiles and slips into the seat.
M: 'Don't even try to get in between them' I say to the girl, who was still watching Ruel as he walked around the car and got into the driver seat
G: 'It's a stupid high school relationship. They'll never last' she crosses her arms and looks at me
M: 'Tell that them in a couple of weeks after they've been dating for 3 years'
Ruel honks the horn and I open the back door and throw my bag into the back, leaving her alone at the front of the school where everyone was now looking at her.
PRESENT
GE: 'That was one time'
E: 'There was also that time where you-'
GE: 'I found y/n's ring' everyone looks at her as she cuts off Elliot
R: 'As in...'
GE: 'Yes, her Tiffany promise ring that you got for her, that she never took off. I found it in a gutter when we were searching for her the first night'
A: 'OK, and where is it now?'
M: 'And how do you even know it's hers?'
GE: 'It had RVVD engraved inside, I think I can connect the dots. Unless there's someone else out there called Rosie Veronica Van Dijk'
T: 'That's a pretty name..' I whisper and I hear Alannah and Mia chuckle under their breath
GR: 'So back to Alannah's question, where is it now?'
GE: 'Police station, I handed it in..'
M: 'So why are you here? Police could've just told us that themselves'
GE: 'I was just trying to help...'
M: 'Well considering what you've done previously that doesn't exactly change everything. You nearly broke y/n and Ruel up! Remember that?'
R: 'Mia. Shut up. Georiga's right, she helped. Knowing the police right now, they probably would've lept this from us because I'm not so sure we're getting the full story here..'
GE: 'You might want to get down to the police station as well...'
T: 'Why?'
GE: 'There's a press conference on...about y/n's case...'
I hear Ruel sigh and grab his car keys from the bench.
R: 'Georgia, go with the girls. Boys, with me'
M: 'Oh hell no, she's not coming in my car'
A: 'Can you maybe stop being a bitch for once and be grateful that she's here'
I could already feel the tension before we got into the car to get to the police station.
RUEL'S POV
We pull up the police station and the boys unbuckle their seatbelts and get out before I could even turn off the car. I lock the car and see the girls park Mia's car into the car park and quickly walk up behind us. We stopped further enough away that we could hear them speak but the cameras and reporters couldn't quickly tun and video us watching. We stand quietly as we see Carl comes out of the police station with a folder in hand and come up to the stand.
C: 'Thanks for coming today, or if you're listening in from home, we've decided to speak on the current disappearance of Y/n Lewis
T: 'Don't they need family permission to hold something like this?'
G: 'Probably but let's just hear what we have to say' he almost whispers next to me
I let out a big breath as Carl opens the folder and starts to speak, it was as if I forgot to breathe, I was that nervous
C: 'We currently have no evidence or leads to her disappearance, therefore, we can not confirm or deny if we are looking at an abduction case, a runaway or murder case as of right now. We currently have suspects that we will continue to look into such as Ruel Van Dijk, Mia Almond, Alannah Idle, Tilly Downing, Grayson Stone and Elliot Andrews but the reasoning for these will be kept confidential'
My mouth drops as he says that statement I felt the whole mood of our group change
C: 'There has been much information such as information regarding the previous night where she attended a friend's Australia Day party as well as a sighting of y/n the following day at a local beach where her burner phone had been found. This is an ongoing investigation and information will be coming out regularly with updates. No questions but thank you for coming out today' he closes his folder as the reporters immediately start shoving microphones in his face and asking a dozen questions at a time.
A: 'Did we just get thrown under the bus for y/n's disappearance?'
R: 'Did they just admit they know y/n's last known whereabouts?'
I took the initiative to walk up to the other police officers standing outside and talking as everyone else followed me
R: 'When were you going to tell us that we were leads in the case?'
E: 'And that you know where y/n was last seen?'
They take a look at us before walking into the police station and I sigh as I run my hands through my hair. I look up to see y/n's parents approaching us
ML: 'How did you guys know about this? We just arrived. We were listening to it on the radio. It's horrible what you guys are being put through...
A: 'Georgia told us, she's over there with her parents'
ML: 'We don't like her though, do we?' I smile, she was always into the gossip because y/n and her mum were super close
M: 'Not at all'
We all shoot Mia a look before y/n's mum chuckles and speaks again
ML: 'It's too late now but we gave no permission to do something like this. I know her life was highly publicized with dating you Ruel but we didn't say that this was allowed to go ahead so we're going in there to talk about it. Have a good day, guys'
We gave a sympathetic smile at them before I notice a couple of girls across the street giggling and clearly taking pictures of us. I roll my eyes, I was not in the mood for this. I try to look distracted as they run across the road and approach us
F1: 'Hi Ruel. Can we get a picture?'
R: 'Sorry guys, not right now'
F2: 'It will only be a second, I swear' the second girl pleaded
R: ''I'm really not in the mood guys, I'm not taking photos' I walk away back to my car and I hear the rest of the group apologize to them. I feel someone grab my arm and spin me around and I turn around to see Mia
M: 'You need to get your fucking shit together Ruel. Those are your fans, supporting you through this time, you don't have to be such an ass to them. Ever heard of faking a smile for a picture? They're actually upset so good job, you made your fans sad'
She walks away back to the group as they all get into Mia's car and Elliot and Alannah start to walk back to his house which was only a couple streets away. I let out a sigh and get into my car, I was going home and I was going to sleep.
ELLIOT'S POV
I drove up the steep hill until we reached Lookout Point and I parked the car. I look at Alannah next to me, how she looked so perfect as she put her chapstick on in the side mirror and when she realised I was staring she would break into a smile. I felt my heart start pounding outside my chest, I swear she could probably hear it.
A: 'Are we gonna get out?'
E: 'Um, might just stay in here if that's ok'
A: 'Yeah, ok' she pulls her hair back behind her, tucking it into her hoodie as I take a deep breath
E: 'So I kind of brought you here to ask you something...Um...I understand if the timing is wrong and considering what happened at the police station, it probably is but I...Um..' I kept stumbling over my words, just looking at her gave me goosebumps on how gorgeous she is, 'It's been going on for like 6 months so I just wanted to ask you if you wanted to be official..Like boyfriend, girlfriend kinda thing....'
A: 'Wait, really?'
E: 'Yeah. I mean, I've wanted this to be official for a while but I didn't know whether you wanted to be'
A: 'I would love to be' she breaks into a smile before leaning over and giving me a slow kiss.
I wave as she goes inside her house and I drive back home. I turn off the car and go inside before I see a note on my bed as I drop my keys and phone on my desk. I sit on my bed and open the letter
Hey Elliot,
It's been like what? 9 years of going to school together. I remember every single year, we would walk into school together, not just on the first day, every day. Even when one of us was late (mainly me) or one of us had to get there early for sport, we would never walk through those doors without each other. Except when we were sick but even then, we would facetime each other all day for 8 hours as if we had every class together, mainly because we got each other sick hahaha. Kinda sad that we won't get to experience that this year but I hope that everything goes ok tomorrow! Walk into the school with or without me, you'll be fine because I know you'll be ok.
