Chapter 16: Todd and his low alcoholic tolerance

It was a Tuesday night and I was in my desk area, finishing my physics assignment. I let out a yawn, leaning back unto the seat and doing a little stretch with my arms.
I didn't get a chance to talk to Alec today, he wasn't in school and was absent in physics class.
I've been avoiding the pack of skittles as well but Ark kinda got caught by Chase in the hallway during lunch and she had to sit with them for lunch.
I almost fell out of the floor when my phone suddenly rang. I laid a hand on my chest and swiped to answer.
"Hello? Is this Ellie Haven?" Todd's voice rang through the receiver.
"Todd, you saved my number the day we went to the mall. What do you want?" I deadpanned, my hand fiddling with the pencil.
"Get ready blue, I'm picking you up in 30." He stated, a sound of beeping in the background.
"What? Why?" I asked, my hand letting go of the pencil.
"I'll tell you when we get there. Wear something that screams party." He demanded.
"Todd, you know it's a school night right?" I pointed out, standing up.
"School night who? Just sneak out of your window. I'll see you, bye!" Todd ended the call before I could protest.
I gave my phone a glare before making my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face.
I changed into a black one-shoulder sleeve top that ended on my belly button. I decided to go with high waisted jeans, not wanting to show my legs, and paired it with a simple white shoes.
I added some accessories like a cute necklace and rings that Todd bought me when we were shopping. I combed my hair and left it into it's wavy state.
I found the makeup bag that my mom gave me as a gift a few days after the first date. I applied a little bit highlighter, a winged-eye liner that I had to redo thrice, and lip gloss.
I stuffed a dollar bill on my bra just in case and took a hold of my phone. I glanced at the window where the fat branch of the tree was staring back at me innocently.
I took a deep breath, my heart thudding in my chest at what I'm about to do. I opened the window and placed my feet unto the sill with hesitation.
My phone rang and I quickly took a step away from it. I wiped my clammy hands unto my jeans before swiping call.
"Just freaking jump blue! I'll catch you!" Todd whispered shouted.
I glanced out of the window and saw him standing below my window. He was waving at me hurriedly.
I glanced at the tree branch, it was so close yet so far away. I glared at it, I'm gonna get the fuck out of here without your help branch.
"I can do it. Get out of the way," I mustered out, ending the call and stuffed my phone into my bra.
I took a deep breath once more, stepping unto the window sill with both my feet up this time. I glanced at Todd who gave me a thumb ups and was a few meters away from the window.
I took a deep breath before jumping, despite wanting to close my eyes. I made sure my feet were steady and in a position that would catch the force of my fall properly.
"Yes! You go girl!" Todd clapped softly.
"I'm a strong independent woman." I grinned, my feet perfectly landing unto the ground.
I took my phone out my bra, ignoring the weird look Todd threw at me and checked if my lip gloss messed up which it didn't.
We made our way towards his car that was parked a few houses away from our house whole we were at it, I couldn't help but check Todd's outfit out.
He wore a black fitted turtle neck that hugged his body nicely, it was tucked into a checkered trousers and a black vans slip on.
Damn, we like a guy who has a good fashion sense.
"Have you ever gone to a party?" Todd asked, proceeding to open the passenger door for me.
"Of course, I have." I scoffed, placing my phone on my lap before pulling the seatbelt on me and waited for him to get on the other side.
"Birthday parties with your friends and relatives isn't considered as a party blue," Todd clarified, turning the ignition and starting to drive.
"What? Yes it is," I protested, crossing my arms across my chest.
"It isn't." He started off, a grin forming on his lips.
"I'm not doing this with you," I said, shaking my head and turning to look at him.
I gasped, taking in the dark bruise that was on his jaw."What happened to your jaw and knuckles?" Taking notice of his busted knuckles.
"Oh, this is nothing. My friend and I did some kickboxing to let off some steam earlier." He explained, tightening his grip unto the steering wheel.
I nodded,"So, is this what you were referring as something came up when you texted me earlier that you can't go to school?" I asked, glancing at his face.
"Yes, it was a very important session. Don't worry blue, it doesn't hurt that much." He assured, his tone nonchalant.
"If you say so," I shrugged, letting the topic drop.
"So, this is gonna be the first party party that you're gonna attend blue." Todd suddenly chirped, giving me an excited look.
"Considering that parties with relatives are excluded then I guess so," I answered gloomily.
"Don't be like that! You should consider yourself lucky." He said, pushing his curls back.
"And why's that?" I turned to look at him, my brows furrowing.
"You get to party with me," He smirked, shifting gears and driving faster.

"Are you sure this is safe?" I asked out loud, glancing at the big house where the blaring music can be heard and seeing drunk teenagers on the lawn.
"Absolutely safe blue," Todd assured, giving me a cheeky smile.
He placed a hand on my back, ushering me inside the big house. I let out a sneeze, the smell of sweat, smoke, and different perfume overpowering my sense of smell.
I glanced at the DJ booth where all the people were huddled and dancing with one another. Red cups were being passed and a few couples were making out in the far corner.
"Welcome to you first party blue!" Todd cheered, bringing his arms up wide.
He pulled me towards the kitchen, people started to part as we passed by and I couldn't help roll my eyes when some girls started to whisper at one another.
We were greeted by a couple making out in the fridge. I couldn't exactly see who it was since they were all over each other.
I let out a squeak of surprise when Todd suddenly lifted me up and sat me on the countertop.
"Get a room you two," Todd barked, turning to them.
The couple pulled away and my eyes widened when I was met by Jayden's apologetic smile and Ark's blushing face.
"Ark? What the hell?" I let out, my eyes turning back and forth between their faces.
Ark's eyes widened when she noticed me."T-this isn't what it seems like!" She spluttered out, making her way towards.
Jayden went behind her, wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her flush against him earning a squeak from Ark.
"It is what it seems like Haven," Jayden interjected, amusement lacing his features at Ark's red face.
I kept a blank face for a few moments making them gulp nervously before dropping my act and letting out a giggle.
"You better prepare one heck of an explanation Ark," I warned, a smile gracing at my lips.
Upon seeing my smile, she let out a relieved sigh before nodding. She took a hold of Jayden's hand before dragging him out of the kitchen.
"You aren't mad blue?" Todd asked, making his way towards the fridge and taking out two canned beer.
"Why would I be mad? Just because we're best friends doesn't mean she can't keep secrets to herself." I answered, taking the beer that he handed me.
He pulled himself up next to me, his shoulders brushing against mine. He opened the can before taking a huge gulp.
"Huh, you truly are one of a kind blue." Todd remarked, bumping his shoulders with mine gently.
I blushed before glancing at the beer and taking a swig. I let out a slight grimace clearly expecting it to be bitter but was instead greeted by a rich deep flavor.
"This tastes okay," I glanced at Todd, taking another drink from it.
"Oh, that's just the beginning blue. That's like your appetizer before we get on the big meals." He pushed some of his curls away from his face and took a swig.
One hour has passed and I was slightly tipsy. I closed the bathroom door before me and stumbled lightly.
I glanced at the rows of doors that were lined up in the hallway and I couldn't help but cringed at the thought that crept in my mind.
I looked up and felt myself freeze when I saw Annie and Alec going into one of the rooms. They didn't see me because it was dark and I was a bit farther away from them.
I felt a pinch in my heart.
I shook my head, pushing the feeling away and continued walking. I lifted my head up high and walked pass the room.
I'm stronger than this, I don't need a fucking guy to make myself happy. I was happy on my own and I could gladly do it again.

People let out loud cheers and gave me pats on the back as I gulped down tequila shot after another. I felt my head pound but I ignored it and let Niña squeeze the lemon into my mouth.
After I got back, Todd and I decided to join the crowd of people that were chugging down tequila shots. We met Niña here and had been doing shots with her until Todd passed out on the couch beside the table that was set up.
I was too drunk to worry about him and I continued doing shots with Niña. A group of people had been cheering on us and I let out a drunk cheer, others joining in.
I raised the shot glass and gently did a cheers with her and was about to drink it when it was pulled away from my grasp.
"What the actual fuck?" I turned around at the gruff voice and was met with Alec King's furious eyes.
I let out a snort before giggling,"Yeah, fuck off man. We're having a blast here." I slurred out, trying to take the shot from him.
I stumbled and almost fell face first on the floor but was suddenly carried bridal style by these two strong arms and got carried away from the crowd.
"How many drinks did you have biscotto? You're fucking out of it," He asked, glancing around.
"It's none of your fucking business dude but I only drank one," I replied, leaning my dizzy head unto his chest.
Why the hell is my head so heavy? Did my food accidentally go to my head and not in my stomach?
Ohmigod. I sure hope not!
"Where is Todd? That fucker was supposed to p—" Alec stopped mid sentence, and started talking in an alien language to two guys.
At the mention of his name, I lifted my head up making them pause in their conversation and turn to me.
"Todd? He's over there on the couch," I pointed a finger behind fucker."He's my best friend but he can't drink to save his life!" I drunkenly said, giggling lightly.
Alec started speaking in another language to the two guys before they nodded and walked passed us.
"We're going on a trip in our favorite rocket ship! Zooming through the sky! Little Einstein!" I sang, the song suddenly entering my mind.
"Stop fucking singing bellissima," Alec snapped, cutting off my singing.
I felt my smile drop, tears starting to gather in my eyes at his harsh tone.
"W-why are you freaking mad? I just wanted to sing!" I pouted, a tear followed by another slid down my cheeks.
"Merda," He cursed, making me cry harder.
"I was just joking biscotto. Don't cry, please. W-what was that song again? Oh yeah! Climb aboard, get ready to explore! There's so much to find, Little Einsteins!" He half-sang, a hint of panic in his voice.
I let out a giggle, taking in his blurry yet handsome features. This fucker sure looks like a yummy skittle, can I eat him?
"You have a nice voice." I sniffled,"I wish I had a voice like that. Why can't I have a voice like that? Will you give me your voice? Like Ariel did?" I rambled, tears streaming down my face.
It was completely dark outside, the cold wind nipped gently at my skin and I let out a shiver. Fucker tightened his hold on me before walking faster towards his car.
"Jayden e Connor stanno cercando Todd. Aiutali. Aspetteremo qui." Alec said, talking to the huge mountain who got out of the car.
(They're looking for Todd. Help them. We'll be waiting here.)
The sound of a car door unlocking resonated in the silence. He placed me gently in the back seat before doing the same, closed the door gently. The air conditioning nipped at my hot skin and I let out a contented hum.
"You didn't answer my question fucker," I mumbled, my head pounding and not feeling comfortable at my position
I felt something warm brush against my face, wiping the tears that were still there. I opened my sleepy eyes and was met with electrifying blue ones.
"You have a beautiful voice biscotto. Much more beautiful than mine," He replied, his voice deep.
I hummed in reply, before pushing his hands away and leaning unto his lap to place my head there. I let out a satisfied sigh, bringing my feet up on the seat.
"I'm gonna sleep on your lap," I mumbled, placing my hand underneath my head to act as a pillow.
I felt him chuckle lightly, his hand started to stroke my hair earning a soft sigh from me. I was starting to fall asleep when I felt something brush softly on my cheek.
"I'm so sorry for making you cry biscotto." He said but I was already drifting away into the darkness to comprehend it.
