Skylar's POV
"Hey guys, I didn't expect you guys today." I say as I come to the table where the guys are seated and surprisingly the girls are there too, including Vee.
"Yeah, we wanted to show Vicky the best diner in town." Karen says and I try my hardest not to roll my eyes
"That's great, you won't regret coming here Victoria." I say to her forcing my enthusiasm
"Please do that cute intro for us." Seth requests and I send him an 'are you serious' look and he nods
I sigh, "Hi, my name is Skylar and I'll be your waitress for today. What can I get you?" I swear I don't get paid enough for this
"Are your cheeseburgers any good?" She asks and Seth, Ray and Karen gasp at her question
"Never question the credibility of the cheeseburger. It's the best ever." Seth dramatically says
Kendrick rolls his eyes and so do I.
"So will that be a cheeseburger?" I ask her
"Yes and a coke." She finishes
I wonder what ever happened to please
"And the rest of you?" I ask and they place their orders and I excuse myself
"So Ken, do you have a girlfriend?" I hear Vee ask before I'm out of earshot
Who does she think she is waltzing in here and just asking dumb questions like that? She's got some nerve
"Here's the last of your order." I say placing a plate infront of Ray and he thanks me, making me smile for the first time today
I look over to Kendrick who's got his eyes locked on me clearly not paying any attention to Vicky over there. I raise my eyebrow at him and he looks away
I haven't spoken to Kendrick since they came to help out at the diner last week. I'm not avoiding him, I just don't have anything to say to him. I mean it was a dare and there really isn't much to it than that.
"Bye Sky." The group waves as they leave the diner and I wave back
"The usual for you Chuck?" I ask the humble old man
"Yes ma'am. Oh and add an orange soda to that please." He politely asks
"Right away." I smile and skip away, not literally
I finish my shift and leave the diner after saying my goodbyes to Astrid.
"Kendrick, what are you doing here?" I ask the boy leaning against his car, startling me
"I was waiting for you, up for a park talk?" He asks
"Uh, how long have you been out here?" I ask dumbfounded
"Not long, I got here just ten minutes ago." He shrugs
"Oh." Is all I say, still trying to process this
"So, park or not?" He asks, I nod and he opens the passenger door for me to get in
The car ride is silent, awkward more than comfortable. Kendrick turns on the radio
"Wanna do sing alongs?" He asks and I snort. "What?" He asks
"No nothing, I just remember that my dad and I always used to do sing alongs. I didn't take you for someone that likes those type of things." I tell him honestly
"So, let's do it or maybe you don't know the song. Should I put on another?" He asks as Chasing the sky by the Empire Cast was playing
Before he could change I grabbed his hand and started rapping with Hakeem
"Blood is supposed to be thicker than water is
Nowadays we can't even stomach the thought of it
It's like we can't even get along, who right and who in the wrong?
Too busy pointing fingers like it's politics
I tell you shut up, you tell me be quiet, too much dysfunction
Cut up like we at a riot, kicking and punching
Ain't nobody here to mediate it
And you would think that we wasn't even related
Why are we even throwing blows in the first place?
We fight at cook outs, picnics and birthdays
I tried to give the benefit but in the worst case
You keep on talking smack, you end up with a hurt face
And we tried everything, it's time for plan B

I'm chasing the sky and I ain't talking bout the vodka, let's fly." The entire time Kendrick was watching me whilst keeping focus on the road
"I'm far from a perfect man." We both scream out and go into fists of laughter
"I'm impressed circus girl." He says with a smile on his face
"Who knew that little Mr Bad boy would dig sing alongs." I tease
"Tell anyone and you're dead." He says putting on his best straight face
"Your secret is safe with me." I raise my hands up in surrender earning a chuckle from him
We arrive at the park and we take a seat in the bench that we sat on the last time I found him here
"So why did you bring me here?" I ask as I make myself more comfortable on the bench
"I need to talk to Uncle Skylar about something." He says and I chuckle
"Uncle Skylar is all ears son." I deepen my voice and scoot closer to him and he lets out a soft chuckle
"Well, it kinda has to do with the kiss." He says looking straight into my eyes
Oh boy
"What kiss?" I ask acting dumb
"The kiss between Skylar and I." He explains
I bite my bottom lip and run a hand through my hair
"Don't do that." He says
"Do what?" I ask, my eyebrows furrow
"Nothing." He looks away. "Well I just wanted to know how you feel about it." He sighs
"Well, it was just a dare right?" I ask hoping he'd just say yes and move on to another less awkward topic
"Right. So I'm guessing you didn't feel anything?" He asks and I look up at him
"I-I uh, what do you mean?" I ask
"The sparks, didn't you feel it?" He asks again
"Well I-" I was cut off by my phone ringing
I look at the caller ID and it is Seth, I answer and put the phone on speaker
"Wassup Sky?" Seth asks through the phone
"Hey Seth what's up?" I smile
"Uhm, I wanted to ask you something. Are you busy tomorrow?" He asks
Huh? I look to Kendrick and he has the same confused expression as me
"Uh, no not really." I answer
"Oh good, I was wondering if you'd like to go out with me?" My eyes widen
What?
"Uh yeah sure, just text me the details." I say
"Cool, I'll see you then. Goodnight Sky." He says and hangs up
"Well that was odd." I say facing Kendrick
"He likes you." He says bluntly
"No he doesn't. We are strictly friends." I defend
"He just asked you out on a date Skylar, how dumb can you be?" He asks clearly getting irritated
"I thought he asked me to go out with him as just friends, besides why do you care?" I cross my arms
"I don't, I don't care you can do and date who ever you want. I don't even like you like that, heck I don't even like you at all sometimes." He says letting his frustration out
"Yeah I'm sure, I mean Victoria seems to have caught your eye right?" I roll my eyes
"What are you talking about?" He turns to face me
"Oh now who is the dumb one?" I say matching his tone
"Oh so I see what's going on, you are jealous." He says smirking
I starting laughing hard, clutching my stomach
"Me jealous because of you?" I say laughing even more "Don't get ahead of yourself Ken. You ain't all that, I'm not even sure if you are 'that'. I wipe a tear away
He looks at me as though I just cuss his momma out
"You know what, remind me to recommend you down at the circus. You will fit right in. Did you ever think of doing stand up comedy?" I ask trying my best not to laugh again
"Screw you." He says and walks away from me
"Hey, where are you going? You are my ride home." I call out to him
"Walk for all I care." He says harshly
He's joking right?
"You can't be serious." I get up and run after him but he manages to get into his car and speed off before I could get there
"Son of a good God." I mumble to myself
I can't believe he legit just left me out here the idiot. After seeing that he ain't gonna come back, I turn on my heel and start making my way home.
Kendrick, I swear to the heavens you are going to pay for this!
