Skylar's POV
He kissed me and I should be mad that he took my first kiss like that but for some reason I'm not. When our lips made contact, I felt the electricity shoot up in me and on instinct I kissed him back. I wonder if he felt it.
What am I even saying, this is Kendrick we're talking about. He probably does this kind of things all the time
"Hey Astrid." I say as I walk into the diner
"Hello dear, I'm glad you came just on time. It's really busy today and we need all the hands." She says rushing me to put my apron on
It is indeed busy, the place is packed and different voices with different conversations fill the room
I get my apron and notepad and start working. The people are so many and just when I think I'm done with taking orders, more people come in
"Hi, my name is Skylar and I'll be your waitress. What can I get you?" I smile politely at the two men in front of me
"Beautiful name for a pretty face." One of them says he looks older and I mentally gag
"We'll have two Turkey sandwiches, extra mayo and two cokes please." The other one orders
"Right away." I turn and before I could walk away, the older guy smacks my butt causing me to gasp and angrily face him
"You better pray she stops me from beating your ass old man." A voice speaks and I turn to see Ray behind me; Seth and Kendrick with him as well
"Ha! You little boys don't scare me." Ray charges for the man but I stop him
"He's not worth it, trust me." I look at the man with disgust and walk away with the three boys following me
"I'm not going to be able to serve you guys today, maybe Kelsey can. I have too many orders to take and they just keep coming." I tell them
They look at each other and get up going behind the counter and each grabbing aprons
"What are you guys doing?"
"Helping out. It looks hella busy and I'm sure you could use the extra hands." Seth says
"If Astrid finds out, she's going to kill me." I complain
"Oh it's alright dear as long as they know that I'm not paying them, they can have the tips they make." Astrid comes up to us
"No problemo Ms A." Ken says and they each get a notepad
These guys surprise me each day
"Go wash your hands first, you are in a food facility." Astrid scolds and they do just that
They go out and start taking orders already
"Keep an eye on them, make sure they don't mess up." Astrid winks at me
"This old lady." I laugh to myself
I go out to take the order for a table next to the one Seth is waiting
"Hi, my name is Skylar and I'll be your waitress. What can I get you?"
"Why would you want to eat that?" I hear Seth ask
"Seth!" His head snaps towards me
"I mean, coming right up." He writes the order down and smiles sheepishly at me
"I'm sorry about that, he's new here." I apologize to both tables
I take the order of my current table and go to give it in
"Would you like a side of punches withat order douche bag?" Kendrick asks the man he's waiting
For goodness sake!
"Kendrick." I glare at him and he changes his words
"I'm sorry, I'm just having a rough day. Your order will be ready soon." Kendrick forces a smile
I shake my head and take the orders to their respective tables and the boys do the same. After our shift has ended, there isn't anyone left in the diner except for the employees and the boys. Astrid tells us to go sit in a booth so she brings us something to eat as a reward for tonight's work
"You guys are terrible waiters. I wouldn't recommend anyone to hire you." I tell them as we take our seats
"My tips say otherwise Sky, I've made a lot of money tonight." Ray says proudly. He was probably the least worst one amongst them
"That's because unlike these two, you were polite." I say
"Hey, I made a lot of money too." Seth defends
"That's probably from the amount of admirers you got." I laugh
"Fair enough." He says
"I probably made more then you guys." Kendrick says
"I bet you punched your way through to those tips." I say and he laughs
"How'd you know?" He sarcastically asks
The table fills with laughter and Astrid brings food to our table
"Eat up, you guys must be starving." Astrid says
"Thank you." We all say
After laughing and eating our food, it was time to close the diner and leave
"Hey Ms A, you should consider hiring us after the job we did today." Seth says
"I wouldn't want to jeopardize my restaurant like that. Maybe if you guys got training, I would think about it." Astrid deadpans
"Were we really that bad?" Ray asks
"I couldn't stop getting complaints from the customers." Astrid laughs and so do we
"This is the part where I say, I told you so." I say to the guys
We wait for Astrid to lock up and get in her car speeding off down the road. She's young spirited that lady
"Thank you guys for coming today, you really helped us out." I thank the guys
"We are always glad to help." Ray says giving me a side hug
They walk to Kendrick's car and I turn to leave not wanting to miss the bus
"Hey circus girl, come on we're taking you home." Kendrick calls out and I walk to them
"Circus girl?" Ray asks confusion clear in his voice
"Well the other day Sky-" I cut Kendrick off
"Don't." I sternly warn him and he laughs opening the passenger door for me
"Still a gentleman I see." I tease
"Still annoying I see." He says rolling his eyes playfully
I roll my eyes and we all get into the vehicle driving off to the direction of my house.
"Thanks for the ride guys, see you tomorrow." I say unbuckling my seat belt
"Good night Skylar." Ray says the same time Seth says "Bye Skylar." And I send them both a warm smile
"Bye circus girl." Kendrick laughs
"Don't make that a habit." I say to him and walk up to my front door waving at them as they drive off
"Dad I'm home." I shout through the house like I always do
"I'm here." Says calls from the kitchen
I enter the kitchen finding him finishing up dinner.
We don't eat dinner at a normal time like the rest of the normal families. My dad like cooking later so that when I come from work, we all eat together like we are supposed to.
"How was work?" He asks as I go to hug him
"It was super busy today dad, I've never seen the diner so full." I say
"Nothing you couldn't handle right?" He asks
"You know me dad, nothing is a challenge for me." I say proudly
We have dinner and I go up to my room. I wanna take a shower but I'm super lazy.
"Sky?" Giana walks in my room
"Hey baby,what have you got there?" I ask as she walks up to me with a sort of book in her tiny hands
"Daddy said I should give you this." She hands it to me and I open it revealing old family photos
"Look, it's mommy." Giana points out a picture of my mom and I
"Yes, it's mommy." I say trying not to cry
"Daddy says, mommy is in heaven watching over us." She says smiling
I admire Sergiana so much for being the kid that she is.
"Yeah, she's always watching over us making sure that we are safe." I tell her "You look so much like her." I say tears rolling down my face
"You are sad Skylar, don't cry you'll make mommy upset." She tells me and struggles to get on my bed. I pick her up and she wipes my tears
"Okay, I'm not crying. See?" I say wiping away my tears
She looks at me as though waiting for another tear to slip but I don't let it and she hugs me
"I wuv you Sky." She tells me
Awwww
"I love you Giana." I hug her tighter
We spend the next hour going through the album with her asking questions about mom until she lets out a yawn
"Come on, time for bed." I pick her up and take her to her room
"Sleep tight princess." I kiss her cheek and go back to my room
I decide on taking that shower and put on my pyjamas after I was done. I put the album away in the drawer on my nightstand and switch the lights off
My phone buzzes and I almost let out a frustrated scream when I read the message
Randy: Fight tonight, be here in an hour
You have got to be kidding me! I open my door and see that all the lights in the house are off. I close the door and pack my bag puting on a hoodie and tights and open my window so I escape from it. Dad will definitely hear me if i go through the front door.
I start walking down the street to the bus stop
"Randy just knows how to ruin a night." I say to myself as I continue walking
