Emily's POV
'Aaaaand today is a new day ... oh who am I kidding I'm tired, I have a headache and I've been throwing up all night and I'm supposed to do this online class today with collage so they can get 'physical proof' that we're doing our work stupid collage'
I basically stumble upstairs in my pyjamas with my phone in my pocket and earphones in my hand and I hear dad leave the living room
"Alright come on kids let's go"
I then start coughing and lean against the door frame. Everyone freezes for a second before my arm is over teddy's shoulder and I'm lying on the couch with my family leaning over me as I mumble
"Geez I'm only Ill I'm not dying"
Gabe then moves from above me
"Well she's fine"
I then start coughing again as he shrugs
"Ok maybe not"
dad then puts his hand on my head before quickly removing it
"Oh sweetheart you have a fever I'll go get you some medicine and no moving from this couch"
'sure let's see how long that lasts'
I close my eyes for a second and hear mum speak
"Ok so since Emily's ill that means pj you'll have to watch Charlie after school I have work."
I then open my eyes looking at the ceiling as a brown lunch bag gets thrown over my head and caught as pj replies
"I can't I'm working too unless I take her with me"
I tune out of there conversation as dad comes back with the medicine. He then puts it down in front of me before checking his watch
"Ok we need to go"
He then turns to me
"Honey if you need anything then just call me since your mums not allowed her phone at the hospital. And don't be running around or doing any collage work today. I mean it I'll be sending some one to check on you."
I nod slowly as my family exit the house and I hear dad and Gabe
"Gabe are you wearing aftershave ?"
"A little"
Dad then replies in confusion
"Why would you wear aftershave your not starving yet"
I then mumble
"Neither's PJ"
but I'm ignored as Gabe has another comeback
"as long as we're bringing that up why do you still have a comb"
'he's got a point'
I then hear dad sigh
"Get in the car"
'And Gabe strikes again'
I then hear the front door close as I'm left alone.
I sigh before reaching over and taking my medicine dad got before sitting back down and taking my phone out of my pocket and plugging my earphones in scrolling through my music
'I don't have a headache yet so I'm making the most of it.'
I look at my options
'Ok so there's Fake Love by BTS, Home by Machine Gun Kelly, X ambassadors and Bebe Rexha or Please don't go by Joel Adams'

'Well Fake Love will probably give me a headache since it's an upbeat song so I'll play that later plus I struggle not to sing along to the chorus and home ... Please don't go it is'

I then slowly drift of to sleep
'well that was quick'
*Time Skip*
I wake up and rub my eyes to see I still have my earphone in as Impossible by shontelle is playing I then look at the time on my phone to see its 12:37pm
'Oh this is perfect. I can get revenge on Dylan for teasing me all night after we all went to that movie, Sophie gets a pass cause I teased her about the boy she was sat next too, and the plan is already set in motion I changed his ring tone when we were in the library the other week and to my knowledge he hasn't changed it back'
I then message Sophie

"Hey soph are you in lesson still?"
"Yeah with Mrs O'Brien why?"
"Put your phone on record and point it at Dylan it's revenge time!"

I evilly laugh to myself before hitting the call button the phone is then put down a few seconds later and I get sent a message from Sophie

"That was hilarious I'm sending you the video now and he's got his phone taken off of him until the end of the lesson brilliant!"

I click on the video as it reveals an almost silent classroom with everyone either making notes of looking at the teacher and a couple of moments later a phone rings whilst the song plays
"I like big butts and I cannot lie!"
The phone is quickly put down by Dylan who is red faced and embarrassed as the teacher takes his phone out of his hand whilst the class bursts out laughing. I begin laughing before forwarding the video to Ethan with a message

I then look at my watch and take some more medicine before grabbing a packet of crisp and eating whilst Fake Love plays through my earphones and I sing along well to what I can understand [there songs are mostly Korean lyrics with some English lyrics]
"I'm so sorry but it's Fake Love, Fake Love, Fake Love!"
The song ends and I lay back down before drifting back off to sleep.
*Time Skip*
I wake up to the door bell ringing and I rub my eyes to see Gabe answer it but I'm too tired to see who it is or hear what there talking about so I take a drink from the glass of water that's on the coffee table in front of me as I hear the door close. I then ask in a hoarse voice
"Who was at the door Gabe?"
Teddy then sits down as Gabe answers
"Mrs dabney with a stupid question"
I shrug my shoulders before taking another drink of water as the door bell rings again. I sit up and put my feet on the floor as Gabe opens the door again and this time I hear what she says.
"I have a follow up question, May I speak with your sister"
I then answer for him voice still hoarse and scratchy
"Which one?"
She then walks into the living room and puts a hand on my shoulder
"Not you kiddo your too sick"
I mumble
"Gee thanks"
before hearing her talk to teddy
"I was wondering if you'd be kind enough to look after my cat kaboodle?"
Teddy then puts on a fake smile
"Oooh I don't know I'm awfully busy"
Mrs dabney then cuts her off
"I'll pay you 20 dollars a day"
teddy then puts on a genuine smile
"And my schedule just opened up"
Mrs dabney then trunks back to teddy
"I can trust you right? Apart from Emily you seem to be the least disturbed of all the Duncan kids"
I then shrug
"What can I say Mom and Dad lost there touch after their first child"
I got a glare from teddy and Gabe so I sent them one back as teddy responds to Mrs dabney backhanded compliment
"What an almost sweet thing to say"
Mrs dabney isn't done
"You need to understand that kaboodle is the most important thing in the world to me."
Teddy then readjusts her stance
"How's Me dabney doing?"
Mrs dabney shrugs
"Like I said love that kaboodle"
Teddy just smiles awkwardly as Mrs dabney leaves. I then decide to sleep for the rest of the day yknow like I've been doing all day.
'Huh I hate being ill sooooo much'
*Time Skip to a new day*
I wake up and look at my clock to see its already mid day and I sigh
"Great"
I then make my way upstairs and into the kitchen for some medicine as I hear Mom and gabe's conversation
"When your dad and I first met we didn't do a lot of talking we just-"
she then cuts herself off as I ask in my zombie like state
"What did I just walk into?"
Gabe then asks mom
"You just did what?"
Mom thinks for a second before answering
"Played checkers, lots and lots of checkers"
I shake my head before asking
"Mom where's the medicine?"
She then gives it to me and I take it before putting it back on the table I then put my head in my arms on the table as another voice says
"Geez Em I knew you were sick but I did t know you was this sick"
I mumble
"Thanks for the complement"
before doing a double take and looking up to see Ethan
"What are you doing here?"
He rolls his eyes
"Well hello to you too"
I sigh
"Sorry I'm just tired even though I've just got up and slept for most of yesterday as well"
He then sits next to me
"Yeah but from what teddy told me you've also been throwing up all night so it evens out"
I nod and yawn before declaring
"I'm not going to sleep for at least another 3 hours though, I can stay awake for that long surely"
Ethan then asks
"Well why don't we finish the book that we're reading it's due back to the library in a week and we're nearly finished"
I nod before standing up ready to walk into the living room but I'm swept off my feet and held bridal style and sigh and mumble
"I'm not getting out of this am I?"
He then laughs
"Nope"
He walks into the living room with me in his arms as we sit on the couch with the book conveniently on the table in front of us I then look at him
"You planned this didn't you?"
He shrugs
"Maybe"
before he leans over me and grabs the book off the table and begins reading from the book mark.
[Her head is on his shoulder with his left arm supporting her back and his right arm holding the book]
He goes to turn the page but I grab his wrist and mumble
"I'm sick and reading slower than usual get used to it"
he rolls his eyes and stays still as I finish the page before turning it over as Gabe sits on the couch next to us
"Do you have to rub it in my face?"
We both look over at him as I ask
"What are you talking about?"
Before he can answer teddy sits in between us and Gabe with her video diary
"The bad news is Gabe's romance with kit is over"
my eyes then widen
"Wow wow wow romance! Whose kit?"
I'm ignored as Gabe talks straight to the camera
"Well the good news is I don't have to shower anymore"
I'm shocked
"Wait you showered!"
Gabe then looks over to me and teddy puts her camera on me
"Yeah but don't worry it won't happen again."
Teddy then asks
"So are you feeling any better Em?"
I shug
"I feel better than I did this morning so I should be fine tomorrow and if not then the day after"
she smiles and Ethan's arm that's around me tightens in a one armed hug as we go back to reading.
I snuggle in closer as the front door opens but I don't hear the conversation as I'm to absorbed in the book but as I finish the page I hear mom
"Dinners ready"
I look up and see a casserole in moms hand
"That was quick maybe I'm more sick than I thought"
I'm then picked up bridal style and Ethan whispers in my ear
"No don't worry your not"
I nod and rap my arms around his neck as we all eat dinner.

Sorry for not updating in so long collage seem determined to give us double the work we usually get took me 7 hours to do all the work yesterday 😭 and 4 hours today so I'm sorry if this chapter isn't as good as the others.
On a positive not I saw that this book has 3,000 READS!!!!! How did that happen last time I checked it was on 1,000 anyway thank you all for reading this book I hope your enjoying it. Bye.
