The scene first shows a clock tower above the train station before going to the gang. A while back, Sora, Donald, and Goofy were put into deep sleep when they had lost their memories. When they awoke, they found themselves in Twilight Town, one of the many worlds that resides in the realm of dawn. And, this is also, in a way, home to Roxas and Naminé.
Sora: I've missed this place. Looks like they've made some changes while we were gone.
Arcturus: probably. It does look nice, though.
Goofy: do you fellas think what Pete said could be bad?
Donald: the black box?
Sora: come on, we're talking about Pete. It's probably no big deal.
Arcturus: I don't know, Sora. If Maleficent told him to shut up about it, something must be up. Either way, we shouldn't let our guard down.
They found the plaza area where a train car passed by.
Sora: oh, cool! The trans are still here!
Donald: Sora, it hasn't been that long.
Sora: feels like it.
Goofy: maybe you're feeling what Roxas feels 'cause he misses home.
Arcturus: that'd make sense.
Sora: now that you mention it, I ran into Roxas in the Sleeping Worlds. It was like seeing into his heart for the first time.
Donald: and he was in the datascape, too.
Goofy: uh-huh. It was a test to see if your data version was ready to face the hurt that ya carry inside.
Sora: was I ready? (Looks at his hands) I do know hurt. (Short pause) when I lost Riku and Kairi, (closes hands) and later when I lost the Keyblade, and you guys had to go on without me like that... Having no one to turn to was the worst kind of hurt. But that just shows how much you mean to me. Carrying around a little hurt can't be all that bad. Hurting is part of caring.
Arcturus: that's true. It's one of the things that makes us human. And, in a way, we all have our own versions of hurting.
He then remembers moments that brought hurt to him; Chelsea's death, Richard's death, Ruby and her friends becoming monsters and her almost dying. It was those moments that almost made him loose himself to darkness, but was soon pulled out. His flashback was interrupted by old enemies spawning.
Goofy: (gets in a stance) Nobodies!
Everyone gets their weapons ready and they attack. During the fight, Sora even tried out his new Keyblade that turned into a shield and later turned into a chariot. A little bit later, the enemies were gone and they got a chance to catch their breath.
Arcturus: (notices Sora's thoughtful expression) you ok, buddy?
Sora: hmm...What was that voice? I know I heard it.
Donald: I didn't hear it.
Goofy: you sure it wasn't the wind? Or something else?
Arcturus: what did the voice say?
Sora: it said "do you seek our liege?"
Arcturus: (thinks a bit) that is odd.
Clara: maybe it was the Nobodies. I mean, it can't be a coincidence that they showed up after while we're looking for a way to bring Roxas back. And, he was in Organization 13. Maybe they want him back?
Sora: you might be right, Clara.
???: where'd they come from?!
???: get the ice cream later!
???: what? Hold up!
Sora: wait, was that?
He turns around to see three teenagers around his age running from something.
Hayner
Pence
Olette
Sora: what? Hayner? Pence! Olette?
Clara: wait! I'm picking up something heading this way.
Next thing they saw, was the Soulless in the Devils Storm chasing them. Everyone's surprised to see it, but Arc soon gets in a stance.
Goofy: what is that?!
Arcturus: Soulless!
Haynes: (sees the group) hey! Sora! (Passes them) hello, goodbye.
Sora: go! We got this. (All summon weapons)
The Soulless proved to be more difficult for Sora and the gang. While they did get some good hits on them, they were still stronger and tougher. Arcturus then has an idea.
Arcturus: guys! Get clear!
Sora: what do you mean?
Arcturus: trust me. I have an idea.
The others were reluctant, but did as they were told. As the storm begins to come towards him, Arc channels energy into his gauntlet and is dematerializes, showing his white and blue dragon arm. The arm glows.
Arcturus: DRAGON KING, SHIRO RYŪ!!!
The Pure Ultima appears, stabs Arc in the chest, and when his aura spiked up, the White Dragon appears from the ground behind, roars, and changes Arc into his Dragon King.
Arcturus: let's go!
Clara: right!
They attack the storm and started destroying the Soulless. This form lasted for a couple minutes, but luckily, the Soulless were weakened enough that they fled away and Arc soon reverts back to his normal form, along with his gauntlet.
Sora's (runs over to Arc) you ok?
Arcturus: (stands back up) yeah. That was my second time changing into that form. Drains energy way more than my Drive Forms.
Sora: what the hell was that?
Arcturus: that, was Dragon King.
Pence: Dragon what?
The gang turns to see the Twilight trio walk over to them.
Hayner: nice fighting! Thanks, Sora.
Sora: Hayner, Pence, Olette. It's been ages!
Hayner: what? It hasn't been that long.
Donald: ya see?
Arcturus: well, it could be. Different worlds, different time periods. It can happen every now and then.
Hayner: wait, who are you?
Sora: oh, guys, this is Arcturus. He's our friend joining us on this adventure. Arcturus, meet Hayner, Pence and Olette.
Arcturus: (smiles) nice to meet you all. You can call me Arc for short.
Olette: (smiles) it's nice to meet you too, Arc. (Turns to Donald and Goofy) how have you guys been?
Donald: we're good.
Goofy: howdy
Pence: so, what brings you guys back here? Is it about the weird stuff going on?
Hayner: (turns to him) you kidding, Pence? When have we ever seen a tornado of ghosts before? It's not "weird." This is underpercedented.
Pence: hmm, I guess it is. The creatures from the last time were bright white. These things must be new. Man, I can't wait to get to sleuthin'.
Olette: we're already done with the school project, silly. Whatever's going on, you wouldn't be here unless you had a good reason.
Hayner: which is?
Sora: well, actually, we're looking for Roxas.
Olette: Roxas?
Hayner: that's funny... I don't know any Roxas, but the name sounds familiar.
Pence: maybe we bumped into him somewhere.
Arcturus: I think you did. In this, and the other world.
Hayner: other world?
Clara: according to the others, Roxas was friends with a different version of you three.
Goofy then pulls out a picture of the three with Roxas standing outside of the haunted mansion located in the woods outside of town. Pence then pulls out another one, but it didn't have Roxas in it.
Hayner: (looks at the group) Sora, Arc, let us help you track Roxas down.
Sora: really?
Arcturus: you want to help?
Hayner: sure, he seems like a pretty cool guy.
Sora: (chuckles) yeah. He is.
Arcturus: second that.
Pence: great. The let's all go ask around town. If alternate us knew Roxas, then maybe alternate-other folks did too.
Arcturus: it's worth a try.
Olette: you four should go to the place in the photo. It's the old mansion. The three of us'll cover places in town.
Arcturus: sounds good. I'll get us there in a few seconds.
Sora: wait a second, Arc. Before you start running, how about we take a picture?
Hayner: sure.
Pence: that's a great idea!
Everyone then possess for the picture. But, they then came to a realization.
Pence: wait? Who's taking it?
Arcturus: (imaginary lightbulb pops up) I will.
Sora: you sure?
Arcturus: yep. I got an idea.
Sora hands him the phone and Arc pulls up the camera app. Everyone gets ready, and just as Arc pressed the button, he runs in the frame, the camera clicks, and he grabs it again.
Arcturus: (sees the photo) ha! I always wanted to try that!
Pence: wow, that came out great!
Sora: would that be a selfie if your case, Arc?
Arcturus: I think it is. (Notices a symbol on the wall) wait, what's that?
Olette: oh! It's a lucky emblem.
Sora: lucky emblem?
Olette: oh yeah, they are hide right now. Supposedly, these things are hidden all over town. And if you get a picture of them, they'll bring good luck.
Goofy: cool!
Donald: wow.
Clara: wait. I think I might've seen a few of these back on Olympus.
Sora: now that you mentioned it, (remembers back to certain areas) there were a few of these back there.
Arcturus: in that case, there might be more on other worlds, too.
Clara: let's keep an eye out for them and see how many we can find.
Hayner: ok, we should start asking around. You guys check out the old mansion. We'll catch up.
Sora: (pockets phone) got it.
They then left towards the mansion. Normally, they'd be able to get there by a large crack in the wall, but it looks like they repaired it. Luckily, they found a sewer access point that leads directly to the woods. Donald didn't particularly enjoyed the idea of that, but he came down nonetheless. Sora then decides to ask Arc something.
Sora: hey Arc?
Arcturus: hmm?
Sora: did you meet Roxas? It sounded like you did.
Arcturus: kinda. I met a version of him during my missions. In fact, I met versions of all of you.
Donald: that doesn't make sense.
Arcturus: story of our lives at this point. But, we should be more careful. If the Soulless are here, then troubles not too far behind.
Sora: Soulless?
Clara: when a person dies, their soul gets sent to the Astral Plane. There, they either accent to a new world, or remain until their unfinished business is complete. But, if it isn't, or they stay for too long, they can loose everything about themselves and become mindless monsters.
Sora: woah. We've never heard of those before.
Arcturus: well, they generally travel in small packs and tend to stay hidden. But, I know someone who can summon more at his will and bring chaos. He might not be here, but if they're here, then he's on the move for something big.
They made it outside the woods and noticed a trail of fruit. They then saw Heartless harassing a rat that was cornered on a branch. The gang quickly took them out, and moved on their way. However, the rat climbed up on Sora's head, and with two locks of his hair, controlled him like a puppet and went to pick up an apple.
Arcturus: what the?
Goofy: lookie! That little feller's parked on your head.
Sora: (turns around) huuuh? (Arm gets forced up) would you cut that— (picks up another apple)
Donald: Sora, you've been hijacked.
Arcturus: wait. (Listens to the rat) oh. Ok, sure.
Sora: what?
Arcturus: he says his name is Remy, and he wants help picking up the fruit.
Donald: how'd you know that?
Arcturus: I speak everything.
He and Sora then gather the fruit together. Once done, Remy smiles at them in thanks.
Sora: so, what are you gonna do with all this fruit anyway?
Remy: (explains and Arc translates)
Arcturus: he says he's going to cook them into something. What are you cooking?
Remy: (mimics surprise)
Arcturus: ooo, sounds delicious. (Stands up) well, be careful on your way home.
Sora: take care.
Donald: bye-bye
Goofy: see ya around.
They then walk through the woods, and on the other side, see a mansion with an open gate, broken pillars in the front yard, and vines and dust covering it. Sora then looks over to a window on the right side of the building. He remembers that the was where Naminé was when reconstructing his memories. Unknown to everyone, an image of Roxas was seen in Sora's place.
Roxas: I will save you.
The image fades and Sora then blinks a few time, breaking his weird trance.
Sora: whaddaya think, guys? This place is even creepier than I remember.
Goofy: well, they do say that this mansion is haunted.
Donald: (scared noises)
Arcturus: it could be. It might also be a cover up to keep people out.
They keep looking at the mansion, when a hand is suddenly placed on Sora's shoulder. He, Donald and Goofy all jump in fear while Arc simply turns around.
Arcturus: hey guys.
Sora: thanks for the heart attack!
Hayner: oh, what? Did I scare you?
Donal: (tries to cover it up) not a chance!
Arcturus: your jump and scream says otherwise. (Donald glares at him)
Olette: our bad.
Sora: (changes the subject) so how did it go? Did ya get any leads?
Pence: nope, 'fraid not. The asking around thing was a total bust.
Hayner: yup. This old mansion is our last hope.
Arcturus: what's inside this place that could help us find Roxas and maybe even Naminé?
Sora: there's a secret room in the basement with a computer.
Pence: and, is the key to getting to the other Twilight Town.
Arcturus: a virtual reality, huh? What do you think, Clara?
Clara: it is possible to create a world in VR and have real people go in it. It's the same like SAO. Get me to this computer and I'll see what we can find.
The group then opens the door and is greeted by broken furniture and dusty floors. They then walk up some stairs and going to the library. However, it lead to another floor that looked futuristic. They walked down the stairs and entered a room where multiple monitors were hooked up to a computer system. Arcturus then walks over, pulls a cable from his gauntlet, plugs it in the computer and begins working.
Arcturus: alright, Clara. Do your thing.
Clara: (access the system) alright, I'm in. Now, let's see about that transporter.
The A.I. works to access it, but they then see multiple error messages popping up.
Clara: shit!
Arcturus: Clara what's wrong?
Clara: the transporter's not responding. It looks like after you guys used it to get to the World That Never Was, it triggered a failsafe in it, causing it to go brain dead. In other words, we can't use it to get to the other Twilight Town.
Hayner: what!?
Olette: is there any other way?
Clara: there's still some data inside the system, but in order to access the VR town, we'd need to completely rebuild this whole system from scratch. Even with Arc's speed, that'd take days.
Sora: (disappointed) great.
He then hears ringing and pulls out his phone. Seeing that it's Ienzo calling, he presses answer.
Sora: hello?
Ienzo: hello, Sora. You wouldn't happen to be in front of a computer?
Sora: actually, I am. But how'd you know that?
Ienzo: I was tinkering with Ansem's computer— you know, to decrypt the Code that was left in it? And I noticed that someone had logged in from another terminal. I figured it might be you.
Arcturus: not exactly. It was Clara.
Ienzo: good. As long as it's a user that we know we can trust.
Clara: right. But, we have a problem. One of the programs isn't working.
Ienzo: which one?
Hayner: (losses patience) the transporter to the other Twilight Town! It's the only way to find Roxas. You gotta help us.
Ienzo: another Twilight Town? And a "transporter"? Okay... a virtual town inside the computer, made of data.
Jiminy: (pops out of Sora's hood) a datascape! Fella...
Goofy: mm-hmm, we've seen one. That's what we used once to investigate Jiminy's journal.
Ienzo: maybe I can do something. Clara, let's get a network set up.
The two, along with Arc and Pence, work on setting up the system. It takes about thirty minutes, enough fro Sora to sleep while standing. After a few more strokes, the process was complete.
Ienzo: okay, sharing is enabled.
Sora: (wakes up) huh? Were you able to fix it?
Ienzo: now that our two computers have been successfully networked together, I can take control of the terminal there and change the privileges...
Sora: and Roxas...
Ienzo: yes. For the virtual world to be completely realized, Ansem the Wise would've included Roxas's full data in the construction. Meaning, somewhere on your machine there's a log of that data that— (realizes Sora might not understand it) uhh...basically, we can decipher Ansem's Code more quickly, and we can analyze the virtual Twilight Town while we're at it.
Sora: okay. Great! I can't do computer so...do that.
Arcturus: (sighs) well, at least you understand it. (Beat) Clara and I can see if we can bring the data to our computer too to increase the process.
Ienzo: sounds good. Chip and Dale will be helping me out here on this end. I'll call you back as soon as we know anything more.
Sora: thanks.
Ienzo: (remembers something else) oh, before I forget—a bit of troubling news. It's about one of the Organization's former members. You knew him as Vexen—but to us he was Ansem's apprentice Even. He was recompleted like the rest of us, but hadn't regained consciousness yet. Then, sometime after Lea left, Even vanished.
Arcturus: you think Xehanort might've taken him back?
Ienzo: it's a high possibility. We went out looking for him, but we haven't found anything.
Sora: all right. We'll let you know if we find out anything. (Ends call and pockets phone)
Hayner: (remembers something) oh no! We got work! I totally forgot.
Pence: really? But what about all of this?
Hayner: hey, not are important. We're gonna need some cash to go to the beach. Also, don't forget the pretzels. Gotta buy four now.
Pence: (counts a bit but then realizes what he means) oh, I get it.
Olette: he's thinking ahead.
Hayner: later, Sora.
Sora: yeah. See ya, Hayner!
Olette: (joins Hayner towards the exit) bye, Donald! Goofy! It was nice meeting you, Arc.
Arcturus: you too, Olette.
Donald and Goofy: good-bey!
Pence: oh, and since I'm manning the computer here, you guys're in charge of earning my share.
Hayner: no pretzel for Pence. (Exits)
Olette: (laughs and follows)
Pence: hey!
He sighs and the others laugh. After copying the data, Arc and the gang leave the mansion. Outside, however, they were encountered by Ansem.
Ansem: so, you think you can bring Roxas back?
Sora: (turns around to see Ansem) Ansem! (See Xemnas exit a corridor) Xemnas!
Arcturus: what do you jackasses want?
Xemnas: Roxas should never have existed in the first place. What you seek is impossible.
Arcturus: hate to break it to you, but we defy the impossible everyday.
Sora: Roxas does exist. His heart's inside my heart.
Xemnas: and in the unlikely event you did manage to separate the two, where is it you think you can put his heart?
Arcturus: easy, we'll give him a body. In fact, that's how you two came back.
Goofy: that's right. Ansem and Xemnas use to be part of the same person, but now they exist separately just fine. If they can do it, then I don't see any reason why Sora and Roxas can't find a way.
Sora: yeah!
Donald: yeah! You tell 'em, Captain Goofy!
Ansem: in that case, by all means.
Xemnas: nothing would please us more than Roxas's return, of course.
Arcturus: as if! He's not answering to you ever again. If you go after him, or any of our other friends, then you'll see what I'm truly capable of!
Xemnas: you're powerful, I'll give you that Arcturus. But you, and even Cronos, still have yet to truly unlock the powers of the Dragons.
Arcturus: what?
Ansem: go on then. The shadows are never out of reach.
From behind, Heartless, Nobodies, and even Soulless spawned. The two seekers teleport away, and the others are left to fight the enemies. They spent a few minutes defeating them, and then began to think about what they heard.
Sora: Herc said... He said, "With all my heat." Okay. Then all my heart it is. I'm getting Roxas out. (Turns around) are you with me, Arcturus? Clara? Donald? Goofy?
Arcturus and Clara: till the end of the line.
Donald and Goofy: you betcha!
Sora: I don't know what Xemnas and Ansem are looking for, but I think we'd better tell the others to watch out.
Donald: yeah.
Goofy: okay then. Let's head back to town.
The others go ahead, but Arc takes one last look at the mansion. His mind then goes back to not just Roxas, but to Naminé and even Xion.
Arcturus's Thoughts: Roxas, Naminé, Xion. I promise, we'll being you back. Whatever it takes.
He joins the others and they make it back to the town. There, they're met with a duck who wore a suit and spoke in a Scottish acent.
Scrooge McDuck. (A/N: since he's the 2017 DuckTales, imagine David Tennant's voice for this story)
Scrooge: well, bless my bagpipes! It was you laddies who rescued my chef.
Donald: Uncle Scrooge!
Sora: wait... Didn't he sell ice cream in Hollow Bastion?
Goofy: that's right. But Uncle Scrooge here's what you might call a world traveler.
Sora: cool. (Walks over to him with the gang) how are ya, Uncle Scrooge?
Scrooge: ho! Hello, Sora! You're lookin' hale and hearty. And, you even brought Arcturus Farron, himself. It's good to see you, lad!
Arcturus: you too, Mr. McDuck.
Sora: wait, you know Arc?
Scrooge: of course. I worked with his Aunt Serah a little while back, along with his mum. By the way, I'm sorry about Richard. He was good man.
Arcturus: thanks. (Quickly changes the topic before they could ask) anyways, what brings you here?
Scrooge: I'm running my new business. I also heard you were going on a new mission. Looks like it's a grand adventure with these three. I hope Donald isn't making a menace of himself.
Donald: aw. Why did you have to say that?
Goofy: so, Uncle Scrooge, what's that you were sayin' about a chef?
Scrooge: och! Right, right. The chef of me bistro here wanted to show ya his appreciation, (offers them the box he was holding) so he baked this for ya.
Sora: (accepts box) what is it?
He open it up, and inside was a cake with slices of different fruits decorating it.
Everyone: wow, cake!
Sora: (looks up) the whole cake? It's for us? (Notices Scrooge's hat is moving) huh?
Scrooge: (looks at his hat) aye, settle down... (turns to Sora) the chef wants ye to know it's not a cake, but a tarte aux fruits.
Goofy: he does?
Scrooge: why keep it under my hat? (Pulls it off and reveals Remy) May I introduce...Little Chef.
Arcturus: oh! It's you! So that's what you were going to make with the fruit.
Remy: (nods)
Donald: Uncle Scrooge, you opened a bistro in Twilight Town?
Scrooge then explains on how he met the chef, and that he also was looking to expand on culinary horizons. Arc also translated that Remy would cook more for them if they find ingredients. Especially anything unusual. So, with that said, they agreed that on worlds they would go to, to find ingredients of any they could find. A little later, Hayner and Olette meet up with the, back at the bistro.
Hayner: (to Scrooge) hey, boss. Done with the posters.
Scrooge: aye, good work, kids.
Goofy: you guys work for Uncle Scrooge here at the bistro?
Hayner: not exactly.
Olette: (pulls out a poster) he gave us a short job putting up these special posters. (Unrolls it) Mr. McDuck's hosting an open air film festival in the courtyard. Cool, huh? (Remembers something) oh. Sora, hold your phone up to the poster.
Sora: kay.
He positions his phone up at the little barcode. He then sees a new app added to his phone titled "Classic Kingdom Games."
Olette: there, you've just downloaded a promo game for the film. You can try it later.
Donald: (turns to Scrooge) you did all this, Uncle Scrooge?
Scrooge: of course, laddie. Provide a bit of entertainment, and then give folks a nice cozy place to relax. Like me bistro here. They'll all be happy, an' hungry, an' eager to spend their money. (Chuckles)
Donald: Uncle Scrooge...
Goofy: (turns to Sora) gawrsh, he sure is canny. I always wondered how he keeps customers comin' into his businesses over and over.
Arcturus: that sounds about right.
Sora: oh, yea, I'm no business guy, but I sure wouldn't wanna be one of Uncle Scrooge's competitiors. (Everyone laughs) well, looks like our work's done here for now. You guys should be careful Incase more of those things come back.
Hayner: (confused) why would we if we have you guys around?
Olette: (understands what they mean) you're leaving again?
Arcturus: there's more work to be done.
Donald: it's our job.
Goofy: but we'll definitely be back.
Hayner: when ya gonna slow down?
Arcturus: that's hard for me. (All chuckle a bit)
Sora: sorry. Just do me a favor...
Hayner: well, what is it? Don't make it too tough...
Sora: I know how Roxas feels. To be lost. But Donald and Goofy...Kairi...brought me back by wishing with all their hearts. (Donald and Goofy nod in agreement) so...I was hoping you two and Pence would do the same, and wish for Roxas.
Hayner: what? That's it? That's no favor. We'll all wish. I'm wishin'.
Olette: yeah. Me and Pence, too.
Sora: thanks.
He then unlocked a new keychain for the blade and the group began making their way back to the station.
Unknown to everyone, from a roof top a bit of a ways, Ansem and Xemnas were looking at them. From behind them, a corridor opens and Xigbar exits it.
Xigbar: aren't you making it a little too obvious?
Xemnas: we were instructed to guide him.
Ansem: yes...just look at them. They wouldn't get far if we didn't spell it out. The speedster might, but even he's still learning.
Xigbar: fair enough. But let's not forget how many times Sora still managed to rain on our parade.
Ansem: if he wavers from the path we lay, we destroy him.
Xigbar: but in that case...we'll have to find ourselves another vessel. Speaking of which, any word on our Crimson Death about...them?
Xemnas: he's close. Azrael and her sisterhood are working on the spell to bring them, while Cronos will help us control them.
Xigbar: I know we need more darknesses and all but... Is that maniac really going to bring in the guys that make us look like thugs?
Ansem: with their power, and the Black Dragon of Damnation on our ranks, we'll be unstoppable. Let the boy work his twisted ways.
Xemnas: besides. That is why we have more than one iron in the fire.
Author's note: the search for our favorite nobodies begins.
With Twilight Town, I love the amount of detailing they have on it, but I'm sad that I can't go to the clock tower or inside the mansion. Apparently, there's a bug that can let you go to the tower, but I don't know how to trigger it.
Our old friends, the Soulless, return. They'll appear more in the future.
Dragon King also comes back. I have plans for it in the future. All I will say for now is that Arc's in for a real crazy experience from it.
With the transporter, it didn't make full sense on why they couldn't use it again. So, it's busted here, but the data's intact, so they'll have a plan to use it to help Roxas, Naminé, and even Xion.
I won't lie, I was hoping Scrooge McDuck in this game would be voiced by David Tennant. I might incorporate some elements from the 2017 Ducktales, but that's not a guarantee.
With the vessels Cronos is looking for... Let'sjust say they'll be revealed around when they rescue the Birth By Sleep trio.
Next chapter: going further in the plan.
