Chapter 7
Dallas’ POV
Theo wanted to know everything there was to know about me, and I knew that what I told him would definitely disappoint him, because I disappoint myself. I mean, I try to do my part by giving food, money and shelter to the poor, but the constant thought that is always on my mind is that there are millions of people that need to be saved, and there’s just not enough of me to go around.
“So, give me the dirt on these guys. Tell me who I should stick with and who I should steer clear of,” I asked Theo, my eyes silently sliding back down to the bottom of the jet, landing on a not-so-friendly pair of black eyes.
“Well, obviously, you’re gonna want to stick with me; you’re officially my biffle, but you’re definitely going to want to keep away from Logan. Logan’s a grade A asshole and he hates anyone that steals his spotlight, so you’re automatically fucked, since everyone’s gonna be talking about how much of a late bloomer you are, so… yeah, you already know Alex and Adam, they’re cool, I’ve never really talked to Adam before, but I’ve seen him around and he seems pretty nice.
“Alex is my bestie and he’s so cool like, uh… I don’t really know what else to tell you… if you’re a spirit controller then you’ll probably get the spare bed in the dorm room I share with Zeke, Morgan and TJ… maybe not, I don’t know…” Theo babbled on and I smiled; he seemed to be such a genuine person.
The world needs more people like Theo.
“W-what about Zeke? What’s his story?” I asked, lowering my voice; I had asked – politely – if Alex would swap seats with me and he kindly did. “Well, Zeke’s a strange guy… he doesn’t have any friends, not at the school anyway, so he keeps to himself… you know, minimum dialogue, moody glares, that kind of guy,” he told me and I nodded, biting my lip.
“What was the whole level eight thing about?” I asked.
“Oh, right, we judge the power of our elements in levels; eight being the highest, one being the lowest, people rarely ever make it to eight in their entire lifetimes, so for a seventeen year old to have that kind of power, with any of the elements… well, it’s scary and weird… just… don’t mix with him, because the last guy that tried to “befriend” Zeke got bad first degree burns… god, I’ll never forget that day last year; it was the scariest shit you’ll ever see, I swear, the look of pure hatred in his eyes could have put Freddie Krueger to shame… he seemed so angry… it’s weird… he’s weird… change of subject please, that guy gives me the creeps” Theo told me and my eyes widened as they subconsciously flickered to the back of the jet.
“No joke?” I asked in disbelief. “No joke, he’s 100% certified creeper, don’t know how Alex has put up with it his whole life” Theo said with a role of his eyes.
I wouldn’t be so quick to judge this Zeke guy, because, lets face it; this is the opinion of many, but not all, I mean, somewhere in that hard, aggressive shell of a man, there’s a guy that just wants to be understood… to be accepted.
I didn’t want to fool myself; I knew that, from Theo’s words, getting close to him would not be easy at all, and I may come out of it with scars, but that doesn’t matter if I can get that turtle to come out of his shell. It’d make me feel a hell of a lot better about myself if I could help him in whatever way I could; everyone deserves a second chance.
He can’t be that bad, right?
“When will… I find out what… power… I control?” I asked him shakily and he chuckled, shaking his head, “newbies…” he muttered to himself.
“When you settle in with your roommates and your dorm room, there’ll be a school assembly and, along with the new guys, you’ll go up with Principal Halen and find out. I remember the year me and Alex came here; we were fifteen, like every other new guy that comes here, other than you… you’re a weird late-bloomer kind of kid, and I don’t know why… but anyway, me and Alex clicked on the plane ride to the school instantly, ‘cause we’re so cool like, and it’s like, the most amazing moment in your life when you find out what element you control; it’s like a hidden part of your identity has been unleashed… that one moment is better than any amount of sex in the world… it’s magical…” he trailed off, looking out the window, at the fluffy white clouds with a distant look in his eyes.
I smiled and routed around my pockets until I found my phone and I dialled Izzy’s number on my way to the bathroom, for a second time on this flight. Hopefully it’ll go better this time.
“Hey! OMG! You’re alive! Thank god! I prayed for you, be grateful bitch!” Izzy screamed down the phone and I laughed, rolling my eyes; I don’t even believe in god. I’m a hardcore Druid; studying the stars and stuff like that is my shizzle!
“Yes, I am alive, and you’ll be happy to know that I feel like fainting because of all the hotties on this god damn plane! They’re all ridiculously gorgeous and it’s really not fair!” I complained, putting the seat down on the toilet so that I could sit on it.
“Ha, I feel so sorry for you; you can’t touch anyone… unless… OMG! You should tell them you’re gay! You’d be able to do anything you wanted then, an act as girly as possible! I. AM. GENIOUS!” she cried and I held the phone away from my ear, shaking my head.
“I don’t know if it’s too late for that or not. One of the guys asked me if I was gay or not and I just shrugged… god, I’m such an idiot… but you know that Tre would kill me if I told them that I’m gay, and he’d give he his whole ‘reputation’ speech… my brother’s such a douche!” I grumbled, sighing heavily.
“That sucks, but, you can’t go a whole year as a guy, I know that for a fact, so you will end up telling someone. Crap, my mom’s shouting at the twins, I better go stop them before they kill each other, bye!” she cried and I said a quick goodbye before she hung up on me.
“Damn my boobies and lack of male genitals to hell!” I whispered angrily at my body, glaring down at my flat chest. I washed my hands – did I actually use the toilet? I can’t remember – and I exited the bathroom, silently making my way back to my seat, ignoring Tre when he called me to meet his friends; I’m still angry at him, so I just flashed him my middle finger and kept on walking.
“Ooh, Tre getting the cold shoulder for not telling you?” Theo asked when I sat back down and I smirked, “most definitely; all he had to do was tell me the right way and I would have willingly come here… I didn’t know what the fuck was happening when I came here, I mean, I was perfectly fine in my old school in Miami… at least I thought I was fine in my old school… and of course I had to leave my bes-girlfriend there…”
LIES! My conscience screamed at me, but I smiled through my lies, thinking about Izzy, my best friend. I guess my subconscious thought it would help with the sexuality problem?
I got up a new message to Izzy on my phone and started typing away, while Theo babbled on about nonsense:
Frm now on, ur my gf, got it??? xxx
When Theo’s eyes started drooping, I took my chance to text Izzy alone; I smiled and soothed him telling him that he should sleep for the rest of the journey, and to my astonishment, he obeyed and curled up in a ball on his seat, his eyes tightly closed. I pulled the blind down over the window and looked down at my phone when it vibrated in my hand.
Sure! Did Tre tell u to do this?? xxx
Nah just thought it’d get me in his good books ;) xxx
Okie dokes, ttyl!!!!! Don’t have too much fun without ur GIRLFRIEND! Hahahahhaahhaahaaa!
I rummaged around in my pockets until I found my headphones; I unfolded them and placed them over my wig, plugging them into my phone, I put my album on shuffle and listened to my own voice screaming over the heavy metal/techno beat.
Like Theo, I quickly dozed off, realising how tiresome my day has been; I felt like I had run a marathon, and mentally, I had.
My usual dreams floated around my head, with the addition of the new faces I met today; Theo was there, Adam was there, Alex was there and surprisingly, despite how he treated me, Zeke stood in the far distance of my dream, watching everything that unfolded around me. His face showed no emotion, but his eyes shone with pain.
A jolt of the jet awoke me from my slumber and I shot upright in my seat, watching in slow motion as my phone hung at my shin, dangling from my headphones. I reached for it and the wire pulled itself free, letting the phone fall to the floor and go sliding behind my seat.
I jumped up and looked down at Alex and Adam’s feet, watching my phone go sliding all the way to the back.
On one hand, the jet just shook, so I’m scared shitless to get out of my seat, but on the other hand, my phone is my life… so what choice do I have?
I watched as Zeke frowned, leaning down; when his head popped back up from behind the seat in front of him, he held my phone in his hand and I prayed all of the pagan Gods and Goddesses that it was ok.
He shrugged and unplugged his earphones from his iPod and plugged them into my phone. He flicked through my stuff – I sure as hell hope he doesn’t go through my messages or I’m dead – until his head silently bobbed to what was obviously music.
He craned his neck, looking for someone – I’m guessing he’s looking for the guy that’s looking for his phone – and his scowl turned into a smirk when he spotted me watching him. I lowered back down into my seat with my cheeks flaming.
I can’t believe this is happening to me!
I scowled at the back of the seat in front of me and pulled my seat belt off. I jumped out of my seat and stormed down to the back of the jet, scowling at the smug little smirk that shone on his lips and in his eyes.
“You know, for a spoiled little rich boy, your music’s not too bad.”
I gaped at him, scowling at the empty seat beside him, “I don’t know whether that was an insult or a complement, but for your sake, I’m gonna take it as a complement. Anyway, that’s my phone, can I have it?” I asked sarcastically and he raised an eyebrow, looking me up and down, he looked like he was actually considering it. What an ass!
“Hmm… nah, I think I’ll hold onto it for a little while longer.”
He has the nerve…
“Seriously? You’re such a douche! God, I wanna hit you with something so bad right now!” I growled and he looked straight into my eyes, daringly so. “Go ahead, rich boy, lets see what element you control, lets see you open a can of ‘whoopass’ on me, lets see why you’re such a late bloomer! Is it because you’re a whining little bitch or because you just don’t have the power? Nobody knows, but boy are we about to!” he sang, smirking.
“You son of a bitch!” I cried, lunging towards him, only to feel arms yank me back, “Dallas, he ain’t worth it! He ain’t worth shit!” Alex’s voice shouted behind me and I growled, scowling at Zeke.
“Give him his phone, Zeke, now!” Alex barked and Zeke looked away from him, his smooth black eyes watched the sky outside and his face was once again emotionless.
“I’m listening to some half decent music dick wad, leave me alone and I’ll give the little pansy his phone when the plane lands” he grumbled and his tone of voice told us that he wanted us both to leave before he does something he more than likely wont regret.
“Come on Alex, just leave him alone” I mumbled, feeling defeated. I sighed and brushed past Alex, making my way back to my seat, the jet gave another rumble and my balance tipped, shoving me into the lap of the poor guy sat next to where I stood.
I looked up, blushing, to see Adam’s surprised face staring down at me. I gazed up into his deep grey eyes, much like my own, but they held so much more happiness and emotion.
He raised his eyebrows and smiled, chuckling lightly; I blushed a deeper shade of red and scrambled away from his lap. “I am so sorry!” I squeaked and I sprinted to my seat, easily curling up into a tight ball where nobody could see my face.
“Awwie, look at Dallas all blushy and shit! That is just the cutest thing I have ever seen! Gah, I wish I had a boyfriend as cute as you! Or a girlfriend! Either way, I wanna date you so badly! You’re just too tute!” Theo sang and I buried my head deeper into my knees, wishing I could just spontaneously combust.
“Guys, just leave him alone, he’s embarrassed enough as it is. Poor kid won’t be back for the next semester of school with the way you’re treating him!” Alex joked and I sighed, pulling my knees away from my face.
“Adam, I am so sorry, it was the plane’s fault! And I have really bad balance… for a gymnast” I mumbled at the end of my sentence, and I didn’t mean to say it, nor did I intend for anyone to hear it, but my luck was all cashed in; Theo turned to me with wide eyes.
“Shh!” I whispered to him, stabbing my lips with my index finger, “I don’t wanna seem any gayer than I already do.”
“So… what amazingly disgusting contortionist shit can you do?” he whispered and I sighed, knowing that I could not lie about this one.
“Well, I guess I can hold my leg parallel to my body -” Theo instantly cut me off, “dude, I thought only chicks can do that?!” he asked, baffled.
“I don’t know, but I can do that, I can do the splits, obviously, I can do a whole lot of other stuff too that I’d rather not get into, because it’s weird and really girly.”
“Lol, I don’t judge, only God himself can judge me. If he’d ever get his lazy ass outta heaven that is! Although, if God comes down, Lucifer has to come up… damn you prophecies!” Theo shouted to no one in particular.
“Theo, don’t overwhelm the poor guy! Anyway, we’re landing soon, so wait to give him a heart attack ‘til after we get off the plane!” Alex joked and we laughed. I shook my head and put my seat belt back on, watching Theo do the same.
“So, do you have a special someone, or am I allowed to flirt?” Theo questioned and I bit my lip, “I have a girlfriend, her name’s Izzy, but I’m sure she wouldn’t mind her boyfriend being hit on by another guy, it’s quite the complement actually” I smirked and he laughed, shaking his head.
“What’s she like? I bet she’s a hottie!” he smirked back and I nodded, “I’d show you a picture of her but ass face back there has my phone. She’s blonde, she’s a lot taller than me and she’s uber hot” I told him, thinking of the least girly thing to say about my best friend.
“Dallas, don’t take offence in this, but I think everyone’s taller than you if they’re above the age of 14” Theo laughed and I listened to Alex and Adam burst into a fit of laughing behind us.
I guess they’re listening to us then.
“The captain is preparing to land, please fasten seat belts and ensure that all electronic devices are on flight mode or off completely” the flight attendant’s voice came from the hidden speakers and numerous clicking sounds rattled through the cabin.
“So what do you want your element to be? I’m an earth controller and I love it, ‘cause I’m like frickin’ Dr. Doolittle or something!” Theo asked and I bit my lip, “are the elements just like the pagan elements; earth, fire, wind, water and spirit?” I asked and he nodded his head, “the pagan religion started because of us. Well, actually, it started from the very first element controllers; Alistair Lemuel of Earth, Marcello Graham of Water, Vincent Silas of Spirit, Jasper Byron of Wind and the evil Dexter Fabian of Fire. The story goes a little like this; these guys were all just a group of friends hanging out in the woods of their mysterious town, when a battle commenced,
“It was between God and his brother, Lucifer. They were fighting over the rule of heaven, because Lucifer wanted credit for what he did; Lucifer created earth, yes, but God created living creatures to roam the earth. They also both created angels, Lucifer created them for all the wrong reasons, whereas God simply wanted a guardian for each and every living soul on their planet. So Lucifer started the great civil war of heaven and whilst they were battling it out, in the same, sacred woods as the five men, an all-holy and un-holy explosion happened and the five men were changed.
“Each of them had a separate power and each of them watched as before them, seven beautiful, magnificent buildings rose from the ground, made of the purest shiny black-silver stone the earth could offer. Lucifer was never seen outside of Hell again, where he was banished to rule for the rest of his being until his chosen son take the life from his cold, heartless body.
“The men took possession of the buildings, teaching their sons and their sons and so on, the way of the Element Controllers. And that folks, is all you need to know about Elemental History,” Theo finished off and I stared at him in awe; that was by far the most interesting story I have ever listened to.
“Way to mind fuck the new guy Theodore!” Alex sniggered and Theo flipped him the bird.
The plane’s wheels touched the ground and my hands automatically clenched the arm rests as my heart beat ten to the dozen; touching down is the worst part about flying.
“Are you ok Dallas?” Theo asked, placing a comforting hand on my tattooed forearm. To calm myself down, I stared at Andy Sixx’s signature on my forearm, remembering the time I met him backstage at a BVB concert; he also signed my lucky white converse.
They’re lucky because they’re signed by a shit load of celebrities, and because they’re knee high, there’s a lot of space for signatures.
“We have arrived, gentlemen; please remain seated until the captain has turned the seat belt signs off” the flight attendant called through the speakers again and I looked out the window, seeing a long runway in the middle of nowhere as the sun set on the horizon and a thin layer of snow covered the ground.
“Where are we?” I asked and Theo grinned, again, “Alaska! Isn’t it beautiful! About two or three miles that way is the town of Deos, which is Latin for Gods, and another mile through that town is our school!” Theo sang happily and I nodded, trying to take in as much as I could without exploding.
“How do we get there? Is there some freaky transporter portal or something?”
“Yes, how’d you guess?!” Theo looked at me, shocked and I gaped back at him.
“Seriously, if Ashton Kutcher jumps at me any time soon, I’m gonna punch the damn bastard!” I cried and a lot of laughs echoed around me.
“Dude, you’ll get used to it… maybe!” someone joked and I rolled my eyes, throwing my head into my hands.
“God, just get this over with!” I groaned.
“Oh, and when we get into the town – I’ll take you in over the weekend – you’re gonna see a hell of a lot of freaky shit, so just be warned; it’s a strange world we live in” Theo told me as we piled off the plane, every guy wanted off of the plane before the other, so it was like a stampede.
A stampede that I was not willing to wait in, so I simply climbed on top of the seats and started climbing over them, easily taking over the aisle’s of men. I grinned and sprinted down the stairs of the plane, doing my own little happy dance when I touched the ground.
A small tail of red and orange flames followed me, revealing my phone hovering lightly above the trail; I looked up to see Zeke smirk as he walked past.
I picked my phone off of the trail of fire, expecting it to burn my hand, but no such feeling came; my phone was the exact same temperature it would have been if he had simply handed me the phone.
Showoff!
“Dude, why did he even have your phone in the first place?” Theo asked and I shrugged, “I dropped it, he picked it up and he started listening my album” I watched in awe as what looked like a black hole opened up in front of me, it was 7 or 8 foot tall and about a meter wide. It hovered right in front of me and I had no idea what I had to do; does it jump out and swallow me or do I dive in and hope for the best.
“Here, I’ll go first and show you how it’s done” Theo said, but he was shoved out of the way by Zeke’s lumbering figure; he waltzed right through it like it was the most normal thing in the world and just like that, he was gone.
“Yeah, just like that, but it’s your first time so take it a little slower ‘cause if you rush into it, you’ll get all dizzy and feel like you’ve just ate a field of shrooms” Theo placed a hand on my shoulder and guided me forward.
I reached my hand forward and touched the thing, feeling my hand instantly grow colder. I retracted my hand and stepped toward it, “hurry the fuck up!” someone called from behind me and I stepped through the black hole just as I heard Theo go all ‘ghetto-diva-gangster’ on the guy’s ass.
I stepped out into a place that looked a little different; it still looked like a field lightly covered in snow, but the difference was the forest that stood about a mile away from me, “some school,” I muttered, rolling my eyes.
“Turn around, numb nuts” Zeke’s voice spoke next to me and I jumped, spinning around as more guys appeared through the black hole. What stood before me was more beautiful than any Spanish villa or Scottish castle or Greek ruin; what stood before me were seven buildings made of a mysterious metallic black/silver rock.
Behind a beautiful water feature in the shape of a heaven vs. hell war scene made of the same stone as the buildings, sat what must have been the main building, seeing as it was a few stories taller than the others, but each building seemed to have at least six floors, and that’s with Victorian ceiling heights, I’m guessing.
The other six buildings sat in threes on either side of the middle one; each one sat a little further back than the other, each of them held hundreds of windows and each of them had huge, dark mahogany doors at the front.
They were all beautiful, and so were the surroundings. The miles of green grass around the buildings was all coated in snow, as were the tops of the trees, but one strange thing was that there were no birds in the air, no animals full stop.
“Welcome home little brother” Tre’s obnoxious voice bellowed and he draped his arm around my shoulders, a wide grin on his face.
“Whatever” I grumbled and I walked away from him, towards the main building. Theo joined me with a reassuring smile.
We came to the front doors that stood at least ten feet high and Theo pulled me back when I went to pull on the large black rings attached to each of the two doors. The doors then opened on their own to a gigantic foyer with black marble floors, walls and a grand staircase.
A man stood in the middle of the foyer, waiting patiently as all of the guys from the plane gathered into the foyer.
He held his head high and his crisp grey suit hugged his body. I bit my lip and Theo hooked his arm through mine, guiding me to the front of the crowd of boys.
We stood in front of the suited man and he smiled at me; not us, not even Theo. Just me.
“Is it just me or is that guy staring at me in a really weird way?” I whispered up to Theo and he covered a giggle with his arm, looking down at me like I was the crazy one.
“Yeah, he’s the principal; he’s pretty awesome; he’s a witch. His name’s Mr. Halen but we all call him Benji.” Theo told me and I nodded, taking a good look at the stunningly young man. Surely a man with such pristine looks couldn’t be a principal of such a prestigious school.
He had short, dark brown hair, sharp features, peachy lips and dark blue eye. If I were in to older men, he would definitely be my type!
“Yummy, isn’t he?” Theo whispered in my ear and I shook with laughter, coving my mouth with both of my hands.
“Welcome men, as always, you are the last to arrive, your things will arrive in your room shortly. Freshmen, please stay behind while I get you your room numbers and keys; there will be assembly in exactly two hours, please try not to be late, and as always, enjoy your school year.” The man had a strong, but deep voice, making it sound like he whispered every word, but each word was heard perfectly clear.
Mr. Halen’s arms rose and with a flick of his hands, the front doors closed gently.
It really was magic in its purest form.

Took a long time, I know, but that is a pretty long upload, right?
Haha, hate me if you want, I don't mind.
I will definitely try to upload more, but the more I upload, the shorter the chapters are gonna be... probably.
I am currently doing my GCSE's, so I don't have a lot of free time, but I do try as much as I can.
Peace out,
