toni's pov
today is christmas eve and we are spending it with all our friends and there kids at veronica and archie's house. "auntie toni auntie toni! guess what?" juliet screamed and ran up to where i was sitting on the couch. "i got a 100 on my spelling test yesterday!" she said while jumping up and down.
"wow jules your so smart!" i said pretending i was shocked but i really wasn't at all. juliet is extremely intelligent which probably has to do with the fact that her parents are betty and jughead. "mommy and daddy said for my 8th birthday there getting me and lizzie new bikes and phones!" she said and jumped into my lap.
"your getting so big. i can't believe your going to be 8 soon!" i said and caught her in my arms. "and lizzie too." she says. "and lizzie too." i repeat and laugh. "and tay." she says which actually reminds me i have to start planning what gifts to get her. "yes tayleigh too. and even luke. you all will be big 8 year olds. you might be too big to sit on my lap though." i tease.
"hey that's not fair! i don't want to be 8 anymore." she sighs. "i'm just kidding jules. you'll never be too old for cuddles." i hug her and she runs off upstairs.
"that was cute tiny." jug says and and pats me on the back. i just smile and nod. "can someone help me? my barbie doll broke." layla says while slumping down the stairs with grace not too far behind. "come here lay i'll fix it." fangs says and takes the doll out of her hands. grace walks over to cheryl and sits on her lap.
"are you guys having fun playing?" she asks and received nods from both girls. "we're bored though." layla says. "how about you go annoy the older kids. i'm sure they'd love that." kevin said as a joke. "ok!" she says and runs back upstairs with grace.
only a few minutes later they come back downstairs. "they didn't like that very much." lay says and falls into fangs' lap. grace crawls back onto cheryls lap. "i can understand why." betty says and we all laugh.
"grace what did you ask from santa for christmas? veronica says out of nowhere. "whose santa?" she asks shyly. she's not exactly comfortable with everyone just yet but she's doing a lot better.
"ooooo he's a super old guy who comes down your chimney on christmas and brings you toys!" layla says proudly but her smile soon fades to a frown. "but this is my first christmas without mommy." she says and looks down. kevin places a comforting hand on her back and fangs kisses her head.
"does he really exist?" grace asks. "of course he does gracie. he's very magical. but he only comes if you've been good. what do you think, have you been good?" cheryl asks her. "i think so. just not always. like that one time i spilled orange juice all over aiden before school one day." she says.
"grace that was an accident." i tell her but she smirks. "yea it was definitely an accident." she says sarcastically and laughs. "you did that on purpose missy?" cheryl says trying to hold in laughter but fails to do so. soon everyone else is laughing too.
"wow gracie the sass queen." kevin says which makes us all laugh even more. "he was being annoying and i just couldn't take it anymore. i guess that's what you got to do to survive in a big family like ours." grace says. "you are probably right." i say. she leans closer into cheryl to make sure she wasn't actually in trouble for her actions and soon finds out she wasn't after cheryl pulls her into a hug.
layla and grace both leave to go play again so we engage in some adult conversations. "so for our gay couples here give us the inside scoop. how is adopting?" betty asks. "well it's definitely the greatest decision we've ever made." fangs says and kevin nods in agreement. "it is so rewarding." cheryl adds.
"is it ever weird knowing there not your biological kids?" archie asks but very cautiously not wanting to offend anyone. "i try not to think about it like that you know? and them not being mine would never make me love them less. i love them so much." kevin says.
"agreed. of course every situation is different. ella and grace especially have a hard time with certain things and i'm sure layla does too of course with her mom. gianna and kayla were both babies so they probably don't remember anything. but if you think about it technically angelica, tayleigh, and evianna are not my biological kids, they are cheryl's. but i love them more than anything. just because brandon, liam, and aiden are mine biologically, it doesn't force me to love them more. i love all 8 of my kids and it doesn't really matter to me that 5 of them aren't 'mine'. seeing ella and grace being a part of our family and just being happy is so amazing. in a way it's like helping our younger selves because we were just like them." i say.
"wow that's beautiful." veronica says and smiles softly at me. "since we're on the topic i have some big news." sweet pea announces. everyone begs him to tell. "once me and katie get married i will officially be adopting emily and luke." he says and we all congratulate him and katie.
"we also have news about the wedding." katie says. "all of you get to be apart of our wedding party!" sweet pea says. "really? that means so much." veronica said. "well you guys are our best friends so it makes sense." sweet pea laughs.
"and for the kids it was a really difficult choice and we couldn't pick all the kids because there are so many. our own kids are going to be in the wedding of course but for the flower girl we chose tayleigh. the ring bear will be luke and they will walk down the aisle together. the junior bridesmaid is emily and for the junior groomsmen we chose fred." katie said and i gasped.
"tay is going to be so excited!" i say and squeal. "same with fred!" archie says excitedly.
"mommy!" ev screams and runs down the stairs. "can we go outside?" she begs. "why would you want to go outside? it's so cold." cheryl says. "it's snowing!" vivi screams. we all look out the window and she's right it is snowing. "kids come down here we're going to play in the snow!" kevin screams. "we are?" veronica asks. "of course we are. it's christmas." archie says and we all get our coats and boots on.
"snowball fight!" fred screams and all the kids attack the adults with snowballs. "look mama i made a snow angel." grace said. "it's so pretty baby. just like you." i say and she gives me the biggest smile.
"snow tastes good." liam says. "your disgusting." emily tells him. "ooooo looks like someone has a crush." sweet pea says which makes everyone gasp. "as if!" emily yells and throws snowballs playfully at sweet pea.
"weeeeee." evi screams as she's being thrown in the air by jughead. cheryl is holding her breath every time her youngest is up in the air. "babe calm down." i laugh at her. "i know. just nervous." she says. "look how much fun everyone's having." i said and smiled at the sight. "i love you tones. and merry almost christmas." she says and pecks my lips. "i love you too baby." i say and we lock lips once again.
"mommy look. angelica's being nice to me!" aiden says while being carried on ang's back. "don't get used to it bud." she says and he pretends to pout. me and cheryl just laugh.
our time outside came to a close and we went inside to eat our dinner. we had a huge feast since there were so many of us and talked about sweet pea and katie's wedding the whole time.
"is it bedtime yet?" tayleigh asks anxiously. "um no why?" i say. "because santa's coming! and he doesn't come unless we go to bed!" she states. "how about you all get pajamas on and then we can watch a christmas movie?" betty suggests.
all the kids run upstairs to get dressed and when they come down there all absolutely adorable. we took a picture of all 18 of them on the couch together and turned on the movie elf.
"mommy i want to go night night." evi says after yawning. "we're all watching a movie come sleep on my lap baby." cheryl said. "can i have milk pwease." she asks and gives us puppy dog eyes. "ok cmon let's go get some." i say and lift her up.
i set her down on the counter and pour milk into a sippy cup. "i think viv got jealous." veronica says as she walks in the kitchen with vivian on her hip. "i hope it's ok i'm using one of her sippy cups for evi." i say. "oh yea that's totally fine." v says while getting milk for her own daughter. once we're done we give it to the girls and just talk amongst ourselves.
"mama i want to sleep." ev says and makes grabby hands at me. "ronnie where are they sleeping tonight?" i ask while lifting ev back up. "the other kids can sleep in the spare bedrooms we have and evi can sleep in viv's room." veronica said. "ok." i say and we walk back into the living room.
"alright guys these little monsters are tired so say goodnight." veronica says and laughs. "goodnight!" everyone says and we go upstairs and put them to bed.
the rest of the kids stayed up like an hour later until the movie ended. we gave goodnight hugs and kisses to all of our kids and "nieces" and "nephews".
"alright everyone hurry and go to bed so santa can come." fangs says and all the kids run upstairs.
"well i just wanted to say to all of you guys, merry christmas and you guys are the greatest friends i could've ever asked for. so thank you." betty says.
"yea i truly love you guys so much. we might have grown up but we can never forget our roots and how this whole thing started." veronica says and everyone agrees.
"group hug!" kevin shouts and we all hug. "this might be the dumbest thing we've done all day." cheryl says making everyone laugh and disperse the hug.
"merry christmas." i said and smiled at everyone.
"merry christmas." everyone replies.
