Demi’s POV
I woke up in the middle of the night to Katie moaning, I peered over to Nick’s side of the bed only to find it empty. I got out of bed and went into the main room only to find that light coming from the kitchen, curious I walked closer and eventually walked into the kitchen. There I found Nick ringing out a wet towel.
”What’s up with the wet towel?” I asked
Nick sort of jumped when I spoke up oops. He turned and looked at me.
“Shit, Demi you scared the shit out of me. I woke up to go to the bathroom and to check my sugar, Katie was moaning, I figured that it was a dream so I let it be but she was still moaning when I got back so I felt her forehead with my hand and she was warm, I don’t want to wake her up so I figured to put a wet rag on her forehead” Nick said
“Sorry I scared you babe, didn’t mean to scare you. You should have woken me up” I said
“Dems, I am perfectly capable of taking care of her. Besides you looked peaceful sleeping and I didn’t want to disturb you” Nick said
I walked closer to him and kissed his cheek, I felt his arms wrap around my waist.
“Thank you Nick. I am so lucky to have you” I murmured into his chest
Nick just chuckled
“I think I am the lucky one here. I’m dating a beautiful woman and I get to take care of her beautiful daughter” Nick said
I simply just kissed his cheek again
“Aren’t you sweet? We should probably go take care of Katie” I said
Nick simply nodded and we made our way to the bedroom.
Before Nick placed the wet towel on her forehead, I placed the back on my hand on her forehead and sure enough Katie’s head was warm. I nodded to Nick who then placed the wet rag on her forehead and crawled back into the bed.
“I’m going to call Natalie and ask her if she can go pick up some medicine for Katie” I said
“Alright, just for now maybe a fever reducer like Advil or something like that” Nick said
I nodded and grabbed my phone from the nightstand and left the room once more. I dialed Natalie’s number and put the phone to my ear and waited for her to pick up. After five rings Natalie picked up.
“What’s up Demi?” A tired Natalie asked
“Sorry of waking you up Nat, but Katie’s head is getting warm and I don’t have any medicine with me. Would you be able to do to the store and pick some up for me? I would go myself but Max isn’t here tonight and Sugar won’t be here until mid-morning to take us to the airport and go home with us.” I asked
“Yea I’ll go pick up some medicine for her. What would you like me to get?” Natalie asked me
“Just a small bottle of Advil or something similar. I’ll pay you back” I said
Natalie just giggled into the phone. I could tell that she was rolling her eyes at me
“I’ll be back in a few with it” Natalie said
“Thanks Nat, just knock on the door cause I will be up” I said
“No problem Demi and alright” Natalie said
With that, I pulled the phone from my ear and hit the button to end the call. I then turned the TV on softly to make sure I would stay up, I watched a newer episode of Criminal Minds while I waited for Natalie to come with the Medicine. The episode was almost over when I heard a knock on the door, I turned off the TV and looked through the peep hole and saw it was just Natalie. Quickly I opened the door and let her in.
“Thanks Natalie” I said
“No problem Dem, I hope she feels better” Natalie said
“Yeah I hope so to, Nick was the one who discovered it. I was asleep and I woke up to her moaning and then I walked to the kitchen because I heard the water running. She’s still asleep and I hope she will go back to sleep easily when I have her take the medicine.” I said “How much do I owe you?” do I owe you
“Hopefully she does go back to sleep easily and 5 dollars Dem” Natalie said
I grabbed a five dollar bill from my wallet and handed it to Natalie who thanked me and left. I grabbed the Advil from the bag then went and grabbed a water bottle from the fridge not caring that I would have to pay for it. Next I went back to the bedroom and found Nick once again laying a wet rag on Katie’s forehead. I gave him a look of thanks then sat on the mattress and gently shook my sleeping daughter.
I only had to shake her twice before she woke up, her eyes were filled with pain and she wore these sickly looking eyes. Yup, she was definitely sick. Nick helped her sit up and held the rag to her forehead.
“Katie baby here take this. It will make you feel better” I said
Katie didn’t fight it. She took the pills from my hand and quickly put them in her mouth. I held the water bottle to her lips which she eagerly drank. Once she drank about half the water bottle she pulled away and then laid back down. I closed the water bottle and placed it on the night stand along with the medicine and my phone, then I crawled underneath the sheets and cuddled into my daughter who was already asleep. Nick also cuddled into her and was also asleep. I let my eyes drop close and drift off to sleep.
The next time I woke up, Nick was shaking me awake.
“Dems, she doesn’t seem warm anymore. I am going to get us all some breakfast, so I will be back soon.” Nick said
“Alright, thanks babe” I murmured out, still in the process of waking up
Once I was fully awake, I sat in bed next to my sleeping daughter and I was going in between scrolling through twitter on my phone and writing songs and well as trying to come up with a new tattoo idea.
Katie kept shifting closer to me in her sleep which made me smile and my heart swell. I remembered that I still had to tweet the picture of her and Luke from last night while they were dancing together. I quickly opened twitter and composed the tweet.

Katie once again shifted, now she is laying sideways with her head in my lap. I draped one across her body. My phone started to buzz with replies and retweets. I unlocked it and opened Twitter once more.
I saw that both Nick and Luke retweeted my picture. Luke just added to caption and it now read: Dancing with my beautiful girlfriend at her signing party. I smiled at the new caption.
Katie’s POV
When I woke up this morning, my head was in my mom’s lap and she had one arm draped across my body and wrapped around my stomach. She held her phone in her other hand and was staring at it.
“Morning mommy” I mumbled out looking up at her
“Good Morning Sweetheart” Demi said looking down at me
“Mommy, my head hurts” I said
“I know sweetie, you have to eat something before you can take more medicine. Nick should be back with food soon” Demi said
Demi put her hand on my forehead
“You don’t feel warm. Is it just a headache?” Demi asked me
Instead of answering, I just nodded my head.
“You can take some Advil once you eat something baby” Demi said
At that moment I prayed that Nick would hurry up with some food. It was kind of like my prayers were answered because Nick soon walked through the door carrying food. He came into the bedroom trying to be quiet but he bumped into something and made a shit ton of noise.
“Sorry” Nick whispered
“It’s fine Nick, been up for an hour” I said
I picked my head up and he gave me a sheepish smile which I returned to him.
“Can I have my food now? I’m starving” I asked
Nick just chuckled and Demi let out her famous laugh. Nick soon handed me my breakfast then he handed Demi her own food lastly grabbing his own and sitting at the foot of the bed. We ate in peace and quiet, randomly making each other laugh. Once I finished eating Demi gave me one more Advil to take which I gladly accepted.
Demi and Nick soon also finished eating and we started to pack our bags to go home. Soon Sugar, Demi’s other body guard arrived to our door and we gathered each of our bags and left. On the way out I saw pretty much everyone who was at my signing party last night was also leaving. Sugar and hotel security helped everyone into their respective SUV’s while Natalie checked everyone out. I was a little disappointed that I didn’t get to say goodbye to Luke but I know we were all on tight schedules.
Our trip to the airport wasn’t long because there was very little traffic on the road. Once at the airport Demi, Nick and I each grabbed our bags and then walked towards one of the private jet that Hollywood Records owns, once on it we each picked a seat and waited for everyone else to come aboard. Everyone else being Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Dallas, Maddie, Aunt Selena, Bea and Sabrina Carpenter. We were all flying back to LA and going our separate ways from the airport there. Well Bea, Maddie and Sabrina were all coming to my house because they were sleeping over tonight and tomorrow night they would go back to their families.
I was sitting next to Maddie, Bea and Sabrina just chilling and talking about life until Demi and Nick called me back by them, so I got out of my seat and walked up the aisle to where they were sitting. I sat down facing them and Demi immediately started talking. I didn’t even get a chance to get ready to pay attention so I stopped her.
“Whoa Mom, slow down there and repeat what you just said to me” I said
Demi took a deep breath and started over but this time I was ready for her speed talk.
“Well first of all, you have some say on who will be on your management team but I have to be on it” Demi said
“Alright, I’m cool with that. What’s next?” I asked
“I really want to know if you are okay with this,. I was going to ask Nick here if he wanted to move in with us but I want to make sure that you are okay with it first” Demi said shyly
“You serious? Yeah it would be beast if he moved in with us. We could be a real family” I said
“That makes me happy to hear” Nick said
Well, it’s now or never. I turned towards him
“Hey Nick?” I asked him
“What’s up Katie?” Nick asked me
“Um…since you are moving in and you and Demi are really tight as a couple. Would you sign the papers and be my adoptive dad? I mean I see you like a kid would see their dad” I asked shyly
“You serious Katie? I would love to sign those papers” Nick said
I jumped up and into Nick’s lap. I gave him a hug that he returned, I look at Demi and she was crying happy tears. She didn’t even know that I was planning on asking him to be become my adoptive father, so I think I pleasantly surprised her. Demi joined in on our hug.
I got a family when Demi adopted me but I just gained a father figure and I couldn’t be happier. When we broke apart our hug, I went back and sat by Maddie, Bea and Sabrina.
“What was that all about?” Maddie asked me
“You know how I wanted to ask Nick to sign the papers to be my adoptive father?” I asked Maddie
“Yeah” Maddie replied
“Well I just asked him and he said that he would love to be my dad” I said
“Oh my god! Katie that’s amazing” Maddie, Bea and Sabrina all said
“Thanks guys” I said
I suddenly got up and sat back down on top of Maddie. Who was surprised to say the least.
“Um…hello there?” Maddie questioned
“Hey” I said
“Care to explain why you are sitting all up on my lap?” Maddie asked
“Nah” I said
“Well alright then” Maddie said
Suddenly Bea and Sabrina followed my lead, Bea sat on my lap and Sabrina sat on Bea’s lap.
“Is today sit on Maddie day or something?” Maddie questioned loudly
Demi must have realized that something was going on because she got out of her chair and came over to where we were sitting. When she saw us all sitting on Maddie, she busted out laughing and took out her phone taking a picture of this scene that had unfolded. She then went back to her seat and sat down next to Nick. I knew she was going to tweet that picture the moment that the plane landed.
Eventually the plane landed and nothing eventful really happened during the rest of our plane ride. Once the did landed, everyone waited to be told that it was okay to get off, we all gathered our bags and went towards the separate cars that would be taking us to each of our houses.
The car that held Demi, Nick, Maddie, Bea, Sabrina and I was a tight fit because Sugar was also with us. So Sugar sat up front, Maddie and I sat in between Nick and Demi and then Bea and Sabrina sat in the last row. Trust me when I say this….it was a very uncomfortable ride back home.
To my distaste, there was traffic on the highway that we took back home. Thankfully the drive home only lasted an hour but I wish that it was shorter because I was so uncomfortable. When we finally arrived home, Maddie and I both shoved at Nick and Demi to get out of the car because WE wanted OUT of the damn car. All this commotion caused Nick, Demi and Sugar to laugh. Holy shit, Sugar laughed. After all this time of knowing both him and Max, I have only seen Max laugh at me and my crazy antics.
Maddie, Bea, Sabrina and I all grabbed our bags and all marched up to my room. We all laid on my bed on top of one another. We all soon decided that we should go swimming in my pool, even though its October, the weather is still really nice. I think we have only had one sorta cold day here in LA and even then it was only 70 degrees outside. Today it is about 85 degrees outside so swimming it is. We all quickly got dressed and as per usual, I was done first because I am amazing. My phone soon buzzed and I saw that someone tweeted me. I opened twitter to find that my mom tweeted the picture we took of the four of us on the plane.

I busted out laughing and everyone looked at me like I was crazy so I turned my phone to face them and they saw the tweet. Maddie looked so mad in that picture but she still wore a slight smirk on her face. Everyone else had the huge ass smile on their faces. Sabrina, Bea and Maddie all took out there phones and retweeted it. As did I.
We all soon went swimming for some time before it got dark and Demi called us all inside. She ordered pizzas while we changed into our normal street clothes and once the pizzas arrived we took the boxes up to my room and continued our little party.
My phone soon once came back to life but this time it was a text from Selena.

I got off of my warm bed and went out on the to the upstairs foyer area, I had a clear view of Nick and Demi sucking on each-others faces. Well I shouldn’t say sucking but they were smacking lip pretty heavy like. Time to make them red.
“Hey MOM” I yelled down
They separated and mom looked at me, she seemed embarrassed
“Yes Katie?” Demi asked
“Can I sleep over at Aunt Selena’s place tomorrow?” I asked giving her my puppy dog face knowing that she couldn’t say no to it
“Sure babygirl. Maybe Nick and I can have a date night” Demi said
“Thanks momma” I said
I turned around and walked back to my room. Halfway to my room, I once again stopped.
“Oh and Nick?” I asked out
“Yes Katie” Nick called up
“GET SOME” I shouted out
Laughter burst from my room so I figured that the girls heard me, and that made me smile.
I got no reply from Nick or Demi so I figured I made them both embarrassed. My plan worked. YAY! I then went back into my room and texted Aunt Selena back.

With that I locked my phone again knowing that she knew I was perfectly fine with that. I went back to the three girls in my bedroom and re-joined my sleepover.
We watched movies, played the Playstation 4 that I had in my room. I really missed all the other systems that I had but they would back in the house at the end of the week. Since they were still on the tour bus and the bus was on its way back here to LA to get taken apart and repainted for who ever was using it for their next tour.
We all soon went to sleep because we were exhuasted from today.

Chapter 33! It's a filler chapter because I literally have the next three chapters planned out in my head already and I can't wait to type them out. Anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter enough to vote and comment.
I do see this book ending around chapter 60, I'm not sure if I will do a sequel because I just feel like I am dragging it on. But who know I may end it and then come back and start up a sequel. It depends on how I feel at that moment.
