*Alex*

I dreamed of her last night. I dreamed of her perfect body beneath mine— her scratching every inch of my back as she stared up at me with lust-filled eyes. God, her eyes. Every time I close mine, hers— flashes in my head.

I planned on making an appearance at the diner she works at today, but my plans were quickly shut down by none other than my mother. Love her to death, but she really has horrible timing.

The reason for her call? My older brother, Nick is in town and she wants us to sit down and have a big family dinner.

Am I happy he's in town? Of course, I'm happy. I haven't seen him in almost a year and I miss him. Before he left we were inseparable.

Aside from being the same height and body build, Nick and I look nothing alike. I get my charming looks from my father and well— yep you guessed it. He looks very much like my mother. Brown hair, brown eyes, charming smile all that good stuff.

We almost shared the same circle of friends. Almost.

He only has a few I actually like. All the other ones are entirely too suck up for my liking and I can only tolerate their rudeness for so long. I guess it all depends on my mood that day.

My mind wanders back to the blonde-haired beauty and I smile. The one good thing about all this— she doesn't have a clue as to who I am and we are connecting like normal people should.

You see, I come from money. Lots of money. My father is the owner of Grant Enterprises— and the CEO of Grant Hotels. The best hotel chain in the business— making my brother and I a target for fake friends and gold diggers. He worked hard to get where he is at— built it from the ground up.

He came from nothing and with lots of hard work— became something.

My mother on the other hand came from money. Her parents were the owners of a bank— that for the life of me, cannot remember the name of.

Anyway, they met on a cruise and despite their different backgrounds, fell madly in love and have been together ever since.

Perfect love story right? Yeah, I thought so too.

My encounter with Haley was solely based on my mother's doing. Haley is the daughter of my mom's newest best friend, Renee.

My mother along with hers has been trying to hook us up for the past six months and when I saw her at the club, I decided to give it a shot. But apparently, she gave me the wrong number, whether it was on purpose or not— she still did.

This leads me back to, Fallon. The one girl who has my full attention.

I take out my phone and open my photo gallery. Yes, I saved the photo she sent me to my gallery. Don't judge me.

I zoomed in closely so I could look into those big beautiful, striking, blue eyes and smile.

"What's got you smiling, little brother," Nick says out of nowhere. "Has to be something good since you've been cheesing at your phone— like a high schooler for the past two minutes. Or should I say a special someone?"

Nick is one of those brothers who have to know everything and will nag the hell out of you until he gets what he wants. But ask him about his life and you ain't getting shit.

I roll my eyes and slide my phone back into my pocket. "Wouldn't you like to know?"

"I would. That's why I made a point to bring it up," he deadpans.

I chuckle, "Well you're not getting shit from me." He gives me a blank stare. "Besides, it's probably nothing." I try to steer him in the opposite direction.

It doesn't work.

He hums, "If it was nothing, you wouldn't be sitting here in a dream-like state— gawking at your phone."

I also forgot to mention he's very observant and annoying.

"I wasn't— gawking. I was simply observing," I state matter-of-factly. His smile widens as do my eyes when I realize what I just said. "Shit."

"Shit is right. Spill."

I have a strong dislike for him right now.

I sigh, run my fingers through my hair, and explain everything to him. By the time I am finished, he is left gawking at my phone.

"So let me get this straight. Haley gave you a bogus number, correct?" I nod. "And you ended up talking to her?" He points at the picture on my phone. "And she comes to your club, but doesn't have a clue as to who you are?"

I nod my head again and before I knew it, he was in hysterics. "I don't know which part is funnier," he says through his laughter. "The fact that Haley stood you up or— the fact that you had this girl under your nose the entire time and never knew it."

My dislike for him is growing stronger by the second as he continues to laugh— rubbing it in my face.

I snatch my phone from his hands and slide it back into my pocket.

"I wasn't done looking at her," he whines, trying to calm himself.

I huff, "You are now."

"Oh don't be like that," he breathes.

"Nicolas, dear," I hear my mother call out. Her heels click on the hardwood flooring as she enters the living room. "What got you—," she pauses when her eyes land on me. "Oh good you're here. Dinner is ready." She announces before heading out of the room.

Nick and I head to the dining room and I stop in my tracks when I see Haley and her mother, Renee sitting at the table.

"This should be entertaining," Nick whispers in my ear as he passes me, taking the seat furthest across from Haley.

Asshole.

"Alexander," my mother says. "Why don't you sit next to, Haley? I'm sure the two of you have a lot to talk about," she smirks.

Nick snickers, "I'm sure they do."

I plaster a fake smile on my face and take the seat next to Haley. But not before smacking my brother upside the head on the way.

"What was that for?" He yelps, rubbing the back of his head.

"What?" I shrug smugly. "I thought I saw a fly."

He glares hard at me, muttering incoherent words to himself. Serves him right. He needs to learn how to keep his mouth shut.

Haley and I sat quietly, neither one of us attempting to speak to one another and I can't say that I mind. I am a little salty about the fact that she gave me a bogus number, but on the other hand, I am sort of grateful.

Nothing against her of course, she's a very attractive young lady, but she's just not my type. The only reason I decided to give it a go was on my mother's account— and that will never happen again.

"Can I speak to you in private?" Haley whispers and I nod. I can't wait to hear what her excuse is.

We kindly excuse ourselves from the table— earning a few low squeals from our mothers as we walk out to the garden. I couldn't help but notice how nervous Haley was. Her body was so tense that if I was to give her a nudge, she would fall right over.

I lead her to the bench that just so happened to be right next to the fountain and we both take a seat.

"Just hear me out," she starts. "I know what I did was wrong, but I have a good excuse for what I did."

I can't wait to hear this.

"I'm a lesbian," she rushes out. "I know I should have told you sooner and— I'm sorry."

Well, I wasn't expecting that.

"And if you're mad at me and never want—."

"A lesbian?" I cut her off and she nods.

"Yes."

This just keeps getting better and better.

"Does your mother know?"

She sighs, "That's the thing. She knows that I'm into girls, but she's not willing to accept it. She tells me that I'm just confused and all that good stuff." She shakes her head.

This is definitely not the conversation I was expecting to have. I thought for sure she would give me some lame excuse and beg for forgiveness.

"I didn't mean to lead you on."

I chuckle, "It's alright. You're not really my type anyway."

She blushes. "Oh."

"Although I do have to tell you, I did end up calling that number," I laugh. "I didn't get the person I expected, but I did get someone."

Her face pales, "You did? Oh god, I am so sorry."

"It's alright." I wave her off. "I ended up talking to a very interesting girl. So the call didn't go to waste."

I ended up telling her everything.

"So what now?" She asks.

That's the thing. I don't know. I haven't had the chance to talk to Fallon in person yet.

I shrug, "I guess I'll have to wait and see."

She nods. "Well, I really hope everything works out for you. From what I could tell, any woman would be happy to have you," she says. "Except me of course."

"Except you," I laugh.

We ended up talking for a bit and exchanged our real number before parting ways. She seems like a really nice girl, and I really hope her mother comes to terms with who she is.

As soon as I walked into the living room, I was bombarded with questions by my mother. When I told her that Haley and I decided to just be friends— she wasn't just mad— she was furious, blaming me for the outcome.

Nick of course sat in the corner of the room, trying to keep his laughter under control, making it really hard to take my mother seriously.

After my mother's rant, she stormed off leaving Nick and me alone, giving me the perfect opportunity to fill him in on the entire situation.

He was just as surprised as I was when I found out. But didn't comment much on it. We talked some more about Fallon, and what I knew about her and her friend.

"So what are you going to do?"

That seems to be the big question.

"Well," I sigh. "I need to meet her in person first." He nods. "Then I guess we'll see where it goes from there."

I glance at the clock on the wall. It's only, 6:30. The evening is still young. If she's still at work, I have time to catch her.
