colbys point of view
- side note is that the story is speeding up a little so there's pretty big gaps in time because writing about everyday gets boring haha
"hello?" i answered into the phone.
"hi! this missy from diamond mansion. is this colby brock?" she asked (i looked up ring stores on rodeo drive and this was the first one LOL)
"oh my gosh. yes, hi. is it ready?" i asked. i didn't want to say the word ring in case adelaide would somehow over hear me.
"the rings are in! they'll be ready for pick up in about two hours... is that a good time for you or would you like to schedule a different date?" she asked me.
"nope that's perfect!" i smiled, even though she couldn't see me.
"okay! i'll put you in... as for sizing, if it doesn't look right when you're here, we can resize it but obviously you can't bring her in to check if it fits so we can always do it later on if needed." she said
"okay... great!" i said.
i planned on taking tara with me to go pick it up since her and adelaide wear the exact same size everything, including rings.
"hey baby." adelaide said, walking into our room.
"hi princess." i said, shooting a smile at her. "what're you doing tonight?"
"probably just staying in... unless you wanna do something." she suggested.
"ah i'm sorry baby... i have plans with brennen since i haven't seen him since before tour." i said
"oh nice! have fun." she smiled. "i might see if mike and kevin want to go do anything."
"awh that'll be nice for you. you should text them and see." i said
she settled on the bed, turning on parks and rec on the tv so i quickly texted mike
colby- mike you have to hangout with adelaide tonight
mike- that's fine but why haha
colby- i have to take go pick up the rings and i'm taking tara.
mike- okay i'll text her... good luck bro
"thats funny... mikey just asked me to hangout." she laughed
"really?" i laughed, keeping up the act.
i laid with her on the couch for another hour before she announced that she was going up to mikey and kevin's.
i heard the front door close so i went to get tara.
adelaides point of view
i walked out of our front door and down the hall, into the elevator. i had on a cropped half zip and a pair of lululemon leggings.
the elevator door was about to close when a hand shot through it. the doors reopened and mathew walked in.
"oh, hi, adelaide!" he smiled
"um hi mathew... howre you?" i asked him, thinking about what colby said.
"i'm good... i'm good. i went over to your apartment a few times and you didn't answer... i thought you were ignoring me. and i don't like when people ignore me." he said getting closer to me
"i was on tour with my friends. i sing." i said, getting very uncomfortable
"so you just left without telling me?" he asked.
it was at this point that i realized that he had been holding the keep doors shut button.
"i did. it's none of your business what i do." i said.
i moved to the other side of the elevator, knowing that he'd have to let go of the button in order to get to me.
he eventually let go, getting close to my face. before he could say anything, i noticed a boy in the hall.
"help." i gently mouthed out to the boys who's eyes had just met mine. it was just enough for the boy to understand me. i knew self defense but when it came to this man, i didn't want to anger him further.
the boy had rushed onto the elevator, slamming mathew up against the wall.
"what the fuck man? she said to get off of her." the boy who helped me spit at mathew. "cmon." the boy motioned to me, getting me off of the elevator.
"are you okay? did he hurt you?" the boy asked me.
"uh- um i'm fine... i'll be okay." i smiled to the boy.
"okay. good. i'm ariya by the way." he said
"oh my gosh! i'm adelaide... you're friends with mikey and kevin, right?" i asked. mikey and kevin had talked about their other roommate but we had never met.
"the last time i heard someone call mike that, they ended up with a black eye." he laughed. "he must care about you." ariya smiled.
i laughed at this, knowing mikey was a badass but also knowing he wouldn't hurt me.
"who was that guy? do you know him?" ariya asked me
"uh he's my neighbor, downstairs. i don't want anyone to know about it though because between mikey and colby, that man wouldn't live to see another day if they found out what he did. if it gets worse, i'll tell them." i said
"hey it's up to you. i won't tell them a thing." he said
i smiled to him and then he offered to walk me to mikey and kevin's apartment, which was only down the hall but i still accepted.
he unlocked the door and let me in.
"mikey!" i smiled, giving him a big hug
"adelaide!" he laughed, hugging me back. "you met ariya?" he asked.
"yeah... we uh met in the elevator." i smiled as ariya nodded.
"oh cool." he said, grabbing his juul off of the counter.
"alright, i'm heading out." ariya said. mike and i both said bye to him as he left.
"are you okay?" mikey asked me.
"yeah... i'm fine why?" i kind of lied.
"you just seem upset. you know you can tell me anything, yeah? i'll beat anyone's ass for you." he smiled.
"i know you would. but it's alright, i'm okay." i smiled at his protective nature.
"so what do ya wanna do tonight?" he asked
"is kevin here? we could all go for dinner or we could watch a movie or something." i suggested.
"kev is editing and said he won't be able to hang out but you and i could go out for dinner." he smiled
"yeah that's fine." i smiled back.
he grabbed his keys and his phone, walking to the door. he held the door open for me and then we walked down the long hallway together, getting into the elevator that i had just been assaulted in.
i cringed at the thought. i wanted to tell mikey and colby but i didn't want them to get overprotective to a point where they won't let me leave the apartment.
"mikey... if i tell you something, do you promise not to over react or do anything to hurt anyone?" i asked.
"i can't promise because if someone hurt you, i'd hurt them back ten times worse. but you can trust me with anything." he said
"i haven't told colby yet... it just happened but i don't want anyone getting hurt." i said
he hesitated before agreeing not to hurt anyone.
"okay so you know my weird neighbor mathew?" i asked and he nodded, opening the car door for me before going around and getting in the drivers seat.
"okay well i left my apartment to come up to your apartment today and when i got in the elevator, he stopped it and got in with me." i said, picking at a thread in my leggings as mike pulled out of the parking garage.
he nodded to me to let me know that i could continue.
"he was getting all up in my face and he wouldn't let me out of the elevator and he was telling me that i had to tell him when i left and he was being aggressive with me. so i moved to another section of the elevator so he wouldn't be able to keep the doors closed. and... and he gropped me and was trying to tell me what i could and couldn't do. and then ariya slammed him against the wall and helped me to your apartment." i said
"oh he's a fucking dead man." mike said, aggressively turning.
"mikey you promised." i cried out, a few tears falling down my face. i noticed his features soften as he pulled off of the road and hugged me.
"i won't do it. but let me tell you, if that man touches you again, he's done. i will not let someone hurt you adelaide. you're like a baby sister to me and i can't let anything bad happen to you." he said.
"i'm okay. i promise you that mikey." i smiled. he nodded
"okay so how about you say we go get some sushi?" he asked me, smiling. i agreed so we headed to one of our favorite sushi places.
colbys point of view
tara and i arrived at diamond mansion to get adelaides custom rings.
"hi guys!" missy said, coming to the front of the store to greet us.
"hi." i smiled to her
"hey!" tara said
"so are you guys ready to see the rings?"
"yes!" tara exclaimed before i could answer
engagement and wedding band^

"it's beautiful! she's gonna love it!" tara said, getting excited.
"yeah it's perfect!" i smiled, thinking that in under a month, i'd be engaged to the love of my life.
the engagement ring was to go along with a cartier love ring that i also purchased just until she got the full ring.
we used taras hand to size the rings and then we were on our way.
i had to think of a hiding spot for the ring until it was time to propose. i had the entire thing all planned out and it was going to be perfect.
it wasn't going to be an aesthetic beach proposal or a dinner at a nice restaurant proposal. it was going to be something so much more meaningful for the two of us.
