The gleam coming from the laptop illuminated Zhang Chenric's smiling face as he thought of a good punishment for the person who stole his beloved motorcycle whilst he waited for the monitor screen to show the instructions on how to track his stolen vehicle.
A month had already passed since he had crossed paths with a headstrong beauty whom he mistook for a stalker when the woman suddenly approached him and deliberately got closer to him to touch his face.
What he did was an obvious initial reaction, but he must also admit that the way he treated her was rude.
Especially the woman was just showing concern because she accidentally hit him with her bag.
But can Zhang Chenric be blamed? It wasn't the first time he encountered something like that.
Actually, that was the third time a woman he wasn't familiar with tried touching him casually.
Incidents like that started to happen after he hit puberty and became a grown man.
Though his height was only an inch shy from six feet, he was the tallest among the boys in his class.
With a towering height paired with handsome looks and intellect, Zhang Chenric was indeed the perfect guy a woman can ever wish for.
He was also a gentleman to everyone, which was interpreted by others as his way of flirting. But that's just the way he was.
He was kind to everyone especially the opposite gender which was not a good idea after all.
Some girls thought that he was into them and that there was something going on between them.
But it was also his fault for not clearing things out, causing them to misinterpret his intentions as a romantic approach.
By the time he figured things out, it was already too late.
A lot of girls had now been claiming him as her boyfriend.
It almost cost him his education so his father decided to transfer him to a different school right away.
Soon after he transferred to a different school, he changed his attitude.
He built an invisible wall around him, a barrier he surrounded himself as to shun assuming females away.
However, even though he became cold as ice, there were still a few ladies who didn't seem to know when to stop and when enough was enough.
To his dismay, some of the girls who were strongly obsessed with him had started stalking him again.
Though they haven't done anything serious yet, he can't let his guard down.
"Beep!"
The laptop produced a high pitched sound that pulled Zhang Chenric back to his senses.
He then focused his eyes on the software that went with the tracking device he placed on his motorcycle.
After he had input the codes, the locator started scanning the map of the city.
It only took the software two minutes to find the motorcycle's location.
"City Hotel? She's in the City Hotel?"
Zhang Chenric asked himself as he opened a browser and check the hotel's website.
He then hurriedly check the list of events in the hotel for that evening.
There were three events being held simultaneously in each of the three major function halls of the hotel.
The one on the east wing was a wedding, while the hall on the west wing of the hotel was holding a business conference.
The banquet hall located in the middle of the hotel was occupied by Xing Airlines.
"Hmm, where can this little thief be?"
Zhang Chenric then decided to head to the hotel to search for the person who stole his motorcycle. -------
"Your father had been looking for you this entire time. He can't wait to introduce you to his new friend's son." Secretary Mo said as she led Xing Yin to her father's location.
"Secretary Mo, do you think father wants me to date his friend's son? You know, just like in the movies." Xing Yin spoke in a soft voice.
"How would I know? Why don't you ask him yourself?" Secretary Mo replied.
"No, thanks. He might get angry at me for questioning his intentions." Xing Yin quickly said as they reached her father's table.
"CEO Xing, Miss Yin is here." Secretary Mo was the first one to approach the man.
"Papa, sorry I was late." Xing Yin quickly apologized to her father about her tardiness.
She felt somehow relieved that her father was still alone in the table. His newfound friend wasn't with him yet.
"It's okay. Please be punctual next time." CEO Xing seemed cold towards Xing Yin.
"Have a seat first. You are lucky that my friend hasn't arrived yet. Please be reminded that you are CEO Xing's daughter. You carry my surname, thus you should be mindful of our family's reputation. So act prim proper at all times and don't ever disgrace the Xing surname." CEO Xing spoke again, as he stood up to visit guests from the other tables.
"Yes, Papa. I won't let this happen again." Xing Yin said as she did her best not to get affected by her father's indifference.
Her father's cold treatment towards her started when a man named Wang Daizhuo suddenly showed up and entered her family's life. The man had claimed to be her mother's friend.
Unfortunately, her mother can't seem to remember the guy due to her amnesia.
So this man, Wang Daizhuo, offered to help her mother remember her past.
Her father reluctantly agreed but after a few months, changed his mind when he found out that the guy was his wife's ex-lover.
He then forbade Wang Daizhuo to see his wife again, telling him that his wife will still remember her past even without his help.
After that, her father became to treat her differently and had started neglecting her and her mother.
He was seldom seen at home and spent most of his time in the office or business trips. But the worst has yet to come.
When her mother died, her relationship with her father went down the drain as well.
At that time, Xing Yin started to think that her father might be considering the possibility that she was not his daughter and that her mother committed infidelity.
But until now, her father still tells the world that she's his daughter.
Maybe she was really her father's daughter. But the man can't still overcome his suspicions.
Or was it possible that someone was planting negative thoughts to her father's head? If the latter was possible, that person must be very close to her father.
Who could this despicable person be? Xing Yin then turned her eyes to Secretary Mo who was smiling widely at her.
Xing Yin smiled back at her as she thought: 'It was you, wasn't it?'
The smile on Xing Yin's face faded as she started to be serious.
Tonight, she realized that she can't trust anybody but herself and Aunt Hee.
After finding her resolved, she then busied herself by roaming her eyes around the hall to entertain herself.
Just like the typical woman attending a party, Xing Yin can't help but notice the fashion style of the company's prominent guests.
Many of them were styled by the best artists and stylists.
Most of them wore a luxury brand of clothing.
However, they seemed to be uncomfortable with what they were wearing tonight.
"Aww, you poor things! Defying pain and inconvenience for the sake of being called beautiful." Xing Yin murmured to herself.
Good thing her father wasn't somewhere near her this time.
"Aren't you the same?"
A somewhat familiar voice said. Xing Yin then hurriedly look for the source of the voice.
Her expression darkened as she recognized who the owner was.
"It's you again?!" Xing Yin slammed her hands down the table, almost causing a scene.
"Oops! We didn't want to ruin your company's party." Zhang Chenric pressed his pointing finger in his lips, gesturing Xing Yin to tone down.
"You! What are you doing here? Are you following me?!" Xing Yin hissed at the uninvited guest of the party.
But instead of answering her question right away, the man swiftly moved his lips closer to her ear, and in a soft whisper he spoke,
"Yes, I followed you right here. Actually, I have been searching for you all this afternoon."
Xing Yin's face suddenly turned red for there was no distance left between her and the man.
"G-get away from me!"
Though caught off guard, Xing Yin had still managed to push the guy to gain her personal space back.
Unfortunately for her, the man had a quick reflex as well that in just a matter of split-second he had pulled her back closer to him.
"Is this how you treat the owner of the motorcycle you used just to get to this party on time?"
"Y-you... Y-you o-own the motorcycle? It's yours?" Xing Yin stammered as shock flooded her veins.
"Yes! And I am here not just to take it away. I am also here to personally punish the bad girl who stole it."
Zhang Chenric said while he grinned at the now anxious Xing Yin.
