Chapter 36: (Aubrey's POV)- I Have Feelings

"Wait! Vi an-and Ace are down- they're downstairs," I spoke through tears before we entered.

"I'll tell them to leave once I take care of you," he spoke as he smoothly opened the door with his foot and sat me down on the bed. "What the hell happened? Are you alright?" he asked as he wiped my tears away.

"I'm fine I don't- I don't want to ruin the night, go downstairs." I wiped my tears, pushing his hands away.

"Are you crazy? You're not ruining anything. I knew I shouldn't have let you answer the door, damn it. You're drunk, I should've answered it. You're not in a condition to handle any situation, you could barely handle the alcohol." He brushed my hair out of my face before getting up. He looked around the room for something before going into his bathroom and coming out with toilet paper. "I'm sorry I don't have any tissues but uh-" He handed me the roll.

I let out a small laugh before wiping my tears. I thought I was done crying and put the toilet paper away but as soon as I locked eyes with him, I began crying all over again.

"Aubrey," he sighed while kneeling in front of me. "What happened? I need to know the whole thing." He grabbed my hands which rested in my lap. "Please don't cry." He wiped my tears away, again.

I tried to calm myself down but I just couldn't do it. I don't know why or what it would take to calm me down but it just wasn't happening. I just wrapped my arms around his neck again, crying even harder.

"Aubrey, would you like a minute to yourself?" he mumbled into the hug.

I nodded slightly, pulling away.

"I'm going to tell them to head out, okay? I'll be back," he told me gently before heading out and downstairs. I heard the front door open and close before footsteps came back up, and the door opened revealing Xavier. "You okay?" he asked as he took a seat beside me.

I stayed silent for a moment, not knowing how to answer that. "No." I shook my head gently, choking up.

"Has he always been like that?" Xavier asked after a moment of silence.

"No." I shook my head. "He was drunk too. He didn't mean it." I don't know why I'm defending him.

"That doesn't make what he did right. He hurt you, Aubrey," he explained.

I nodded, "I know that. I just can't believe he did it. He's lost his mind," I spoke in all honesty. I genuinely believe he needs help.

"Can I ask you something?" he requested. I nodded in response. "Why didn't you say yes? I thought you two were- I don't know, something," he questioned, careful not to push.

"I couldn't say yes to him. I-I wouldn't have meant it, it wouldn't be true. And I can't lie to him about something like that." I took deep breaths, calming down now.

"Why wouldn't it be true? I thought he was your boyfriend?" he asked in confusion. Why is he playing naive and dumb?

I shook my head, "He's not my boyfriend and you know that." I avoided his eyes.

He admitted, "Okay, I did. But why say no? I thought you liked him?" he questioned.

I shook my head again, "I don't. I have feelings for someone else." I mumbled hoping he wouldn't hear me but he did.

"F-for who? Do I know him?" he asked me.

I nodded, "Very well." I sighed. "He's a lot like you actually." Confusion graced his face. "It is you, actually," I whispered to myself, grateful he didn't hear it.

"Can you tell me who it is? I'll get closure too," he requested.

"Don't think too much, Parker. You know who it is." I told him truthfully.

He thought for a minute before shaking his head. "I-I can't think of anybody. I don't have one name in my head. I don't know who you talk to. Who is it, Aubrey?" His voice broke a little at the end.

"I'll give you a hint. I can give you his middle name," I suggested. He never told me his middle name but I knew it. He nodded, encouraging me to go on. "Liam." I bit back my smile.

His face formed into confusion. Then he deadpanned. "How the hell do you know my middle name?" he asked. I kept silent giving him a moment to process what I had said. "Wait, what?" His eyes widened.

I let out a laugh. "Does that middle name sound a little familiar?" I raised my eyebrows at him.

"Does that mean you..." he trailed off, still doubtful. Is he that slow on catching on?

"You are a lot slower than I thought." I shook my head. "Xavier Liam Parker. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? It's a good full name." I nodded, pretending to be in deep thought.

"Aubrey, wait are you saying that you... does that mean you have feelings for me?" he asked in surprise.

"I didn't say that, did I?"

"But you said my middle name?"

"I said Liam, it happened to be your middle name but that doesn't mean I'm talking about you."

"Are you talking about someone else?"

"Aubrey,"

"Xavier,"

"How many other people have that middle name?"

"I don't know. Why do you have it?"

"Because it was my grandfather's. Why does this lover of yours have it?"

"I don't know, I found it in the yearbook."

"So it is someone from our school," he sighed falling into deep thought. "Is it- no can't be him, he's younger than us." To be fair he did get it, I just didn't admit it. "Is it- no he graduated." He groaned. "Aubrey, can you please just tell me who it is? And how do you know Liam's mine?" he narrowed his eyes down at me.

"I found it in the yearbook. Just like that certain someone's." I shrugged.

You've got to be kidding me, he still hasn't got it? "Why were you looking at my picture in the yearbook?" he questioned. "Wait, when did you find this guy's middle name?" he questioned.

"The day I started babysitting you, I went and looked for it." I shrugged.

He fell into deep thought as I contain my laughter. "Okay, I give up, I don't know who it is. I don't know too many guys with Liam as their middle name and the ones I know aren't your type. So I have no clue who it is. If you want this guessing game to continue then sorry but I-"

I cut him off when I grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled his lips to mine. And let me tell you, this wasn't a drunk act, but tomorrow morning I sure as hell was going to act like it was. I was going to act like I don't remember this happening at all even though crying knocked me sober, he doesn't have to know that. He'll be the one confessing first, I promise you that. "Now you know?" I asked, my lips brushing against his.

He took in a sharp breath before pulling away. He shook his head. "You're drunk. You're not going to remember this tomorrow, any of it. You don't mean it." He looked down in disappointment.

"I thought drunk minds speak sober thoughts?" I slurred intentionally.

"And anyway, you wouldn't lose the game so easily, Carthy," he laughed slightly, making me laugh. My eyes began dropping close unintentionally and he obviously noticed. "You're tired. You should go to sleep." He sighed while smiling to himself and shaking his head. I lied down as he pulled the covers over me. "Goodnight." He kissed my forehead before he stood up to leave but I grabbed his arm, pulling him back down.

"No, don't go." I shook my head while moving over. "Stay." I patted the spot beside me.

"What?" He's under the impression that I'm drunk, so I might as well take advantage of the situation and get him to myself tonight.

He knows it's him. It'll always be him.

Am I falling for him? Again?
