Mayor's POV

"What do I have today, Daniel?"
I said to my personal assistant. A twenty nine years old single father who had gotten the daddy role while he was in the university and unable to control his big master down there.

The guy was actually devoted to his job and very faithful. That's one of the things that compelled me to give him the job.

Maybe the fact that he had a daughter was his driving force to being trustworthy. Actually, I'm not the kind who would keep an unfaithful dog in my care like a fool.

I looked up at him while he typed away on his iPad, trying to get something with a serious frown on his face.

He glanced up at me, while I drummed impatiently on the glass desk of my office. He gave me a rueful smile when he looked up.
"I'm sorry sir. You have a meeting in an hour with Mr. Reese."

"When did he arrive again?"

"Yesterday, sir. From Spain."

"Ah, yes."
I said and sighed. The head of Spain branch was in Nigeria. My constant headache since yesterday had actually given me an amnesia. Probably an amnesia.

Daniel nodded. "And you have another interview with Corporate magazines at exactly 4p.m . . ."

"Cancel that." I cut in.

He looked up with raised eyebrows. "Sir?"

"Cancel it."
I repeated.

"B-But, sir. . .They have been. . .We have cancelled this two times already. And one of them actually called to he sure that you were still coming. . ."

"Daniel."
I cut in and looked up at him, leaning back in my chair.

He blinked. "Sir?"

"I hate repeating myself and I already did that the second time, don't make me do it again."

"Yes sir. I'll just call them and make up something."

"I don't care what you do, just do it."

Daniel nodded. "And by 6p.m, you have. . ."

I sighed and looked up at him. He paused and stared at me, then let out a nervous smile. "I will just cancel everything."
He said and nodded.

"Call Andrew. Let him get my car."
I said and picked up my phones, ready to scram. I can't stay another minute here right now with this splitting headache. I have to get to the hospital before I faint.

The door burst open and in walked a darks shiny skinned lady who didn't look pleased as she stormed into the office. I paused and waited for her to walk up to me and state her reason for barging into my office, but she stood in front of Daniel instead as if ready to beat the hell out of him. After her was my secretary, Amanda who looked like a rain beaten puppy, only she wasn't drenched but visibly shaking and glancing at me.

I was going to deal with her later. I turned my attention to the lady whim most Nigerian would refer to as Choco Milato from her dark brown complexion to her slim waist to her curvy hips down to her straight legs.

I could tell she was very curvy, with how well, her knee length, peach coloured pencil skirt hugged her legs so well and how her white silk blouse gave her away. Her hair in long braids down to her curvy hip and her lashes, I was sure that was fixed. . . or not.

"How could you do this, Daniel?! I thought we already agreed on the fact that. . ."
She paused to look at me. Then eyes wide in shock and mouth wide open, she gasped and took a step back, looking from me to Daniel.

"I'm so sorry, Sir. I tried to tell her that. . ."

I raised a hand to stop Amanda and she nodded.

"This is how you do your job?"
I asked my secretary. She shook her head like a lunatic.

"I'm really sorry sir."
She said quietly, hands clasped together in front of her like an adorable five year old being scolded.

"Thank you for ruining my job, Sis."
Daniel whispered to the lady who swallowed and turned to me.

"I'm sorry. . .Sir?"
She said it like she was asking a question.

I raised an eyebrow at her. Really? Isn't that obvious?

"I didn't know. . .In fact I don't have an excuse for my. . ."

"Foolishness."
I finished for her.

She looked up at me. "Excuse me?"

"You heard me. I don't like repeating myself twice. Why else would you barge into an office that is obviously not his? Hmm?"

"I just apoligized, Sir."
She looked offended.

Being offended for something that I should have been offended about. That was a bit funny though.

"I'm sorry for my sister's lousiness, Sir. It won't happen again."
Daniel said to me.

I looked at him. "It better not. Take your family problems out of my office. Clear my appointments for today, find a place to fix them in. And you, Amanda. . ."
I turned to the clumsy secretary of mine.

"Sir?"

"The next time this happens, I hope you bear it in mind that this job is something anyone would die for."

"Yes sir."

"Good. So, firing you won't be an issue."

"Yes sir. It won't happen again."

I walked towards the door but stopped in front of the stranger who was looking down at the rug. I haven't found this rug fascinating the way she does right now.

But she was beautiful, I must admit. Shoot me, but I can't over look a wonderful art work of God when I see one.

I walked out of the office immediately.

Jenna's POV

"This is a bad idea."
I said to AJ who was now coming out of the club through the back with Sam, my boyfriend.

I was thinking something wasn't right with them. Every time, one person was  missing, the other went missing too.

But I knew that AJ is my friend. She won't hurt me like she hurts others. The lady was insensitive to anyone's feelings. She does things out of proportion and especially when she feels right about it.

Call her selfish, but that's just how she was made.

But she would never do that to me. I could trust her. Several times, she had stood up for me against others. And I owe her a lot.

I pushed the strange thought out of my head when she walked up to my car in which she drove , down to the club with me. She glanced in, seeing Melanie fast asleep, she grinned and gave me a kiss on the lips.

"This is bad ass."
She said to me. "I never knew you had the balls for this, Jenna. Believe me, I thought you would chicken out on me."
She said and laughed.

I shook my head. "Didn't you hear what I just said? It is a bad idea. We should get her back. She came with a friend of hers who would probably be searching for her."

"What's my fucking business with that? Come on, Jenna. Don't make me mad at you right now. Get into the car and let's go."

I looked to Sam, for help. He merely shrugged and grinned. I knew he was either drunk or had taken a quick sniff of those marijuana before coming out. I walked up to him and shook him a bit.

"Babe. Can't you stop this?"
I asked.

He smirked. "Come on, sweet. It is just for fun, huh? I'm not going to have a go with her, if that's what you're worried about." He said and laughed.

AJ joined in.

"I still think this is a bad idea."
I said and walked to the other side of the car.. .

"Mind of I join you?"
A male voice said to me and I turned around.

I was going to object but he already took a seat beside me. I scoffed. "Why would you ask? You already made up your mind."
I said and rolled my eyes.

He smirked at me. "I was too hungry for a drink, I'm sorry."

"Don't apologize. No need to apologize for something you already did on purpose."
I said, looking into my drink.

He turned to me. "You okay there?"
He asked.

I sighed. "Did you come to have a drink? Good. Have it and stay off my face."
I snapped at him.

He chuckled. "You know, I can also be a counsellor."
He said and smiled.

I turned to him, taking in his smile. "What's that your name again?"

"Heart."

"Oh, right. Heart. You can't always be friends with everyone. Just because you were invited to that fucked up get together, doesn't make you a part of any circle. Especially not the one you attended. There's no need to be all kind and sweet. It is disgusting."
I said and turned back to my drink, hoping that will make him turn away and throw a bad word at me. That would feel good.

"Okay. Well, I know what you're doing. But if you don't want my company, you can as well, just pretend I'm not here."
He said and shrugged.

I turned to him in shock. Un- fucking- believable.
He was making an order to the bartender who smiled at him and gave him what he ordered. The man didn't even look my way again and simply focused on the wall of drinks in front of him as if staring into space as he sipped his wine.

I suddenly felt a kind of feeling I haven't felt in years. The remorse. Where had it been for the past ten years while I was doing all those vole things with AJ?

And it had to pick now to resurface?

I sighed and turned to my drink. Pride was a bitch. When will one ever be able to beat the pride of admitting your wrong.

"Are you really a counsellor?"
I asked him more like in a little tone.

He turned to me and didn't give me that look that says I won. He simple sighed.
"Not really. But most times, I see patients and I offer my advice the best way I can. Beating a doctor also has to do with that."

"Have you ever done a heart surgery before?"
I asked.

He chuckled. "I assisted. Once. It was the bes t experience I ever had. I felt so proud and privileged to be part of it."

"So you know how to fix a broken person."

He stared at me for a while.
"How broken are you, Jenna?"
He more like whispered to me.

He was staring into my eyes and for the first time, I felt like he was looking into my soul. I looked away from him. I have never allowed anyone to see through me and he won't be the first.

"This while shit is just nothing but shit."
I paid for the drink and walked away.

I walked out of the bar to where I parked my car.

What the hell?"

I noticed that my car was being blocked.
I raised my hands up in the air and let them fall to my sides.

Of everything that could happen to me tonight!

"Sorry, that's mine."
I heard the familiar voice again and turned around to give him a deadly glare. He smiled and walked to his car. "Sorry."

I watched him board his car, make a reverse, enough for me to board mine an pull put of the parking lot. But I stood. Remained there, watching  him.

"Aren't you going anymore?"

I walked up to his car and leaned against it.
"You're a doctor, huh?"
I said and looked around the secluded area. No one was in sight.

"Yes."

"Good. I have an itch down there and I want you to help me with it. Can you do that for me?"

"An itch? Where?"

I took his hands and guided them down to my lower middle. "There."
I but on my lower lip and stared at him.

He paused, his hands still down there and he looked down at me. "Cool. Where do you want to go?"

I smiled.
