My eyes flutter open, remembering as I look up to the white stippled ceiling where I am. I sit up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes, stretching my arms up to the ceiling, a must whenever waking up. I look to the empty space next to me, realizing that Luke is no where to be seen. I jump up, running in the bathroom, to find Luke with a shaving foam beard on his face, and a razor in his hand.
"Morning," a smirk travels along his face when he sees the shocked expression written across my face. I let out a sigh of relief, clutching to the door knob of the bathroom door.
I roll my eyes and walk out again, looking at the mess of my backpack, the contents thrown across the floor. I go around the room, picking up pieces of clothing and other bits and pieces, grabbing a new pair of underwear and new top and shorts. I carry them in a bundle into the bathroom, hearing Luke faintly singing the closer I get. I walk into the bathroom, my toes curling at the cool tiles coming into contact, letting out a small laugh as I find Luke singing into his razor, turning to me with his pink cheeks, half a shaving foam beard, still singing a verse from close as strangers.
He grabs my hand, spinning me under his arm, making me let out a loud laugh, dropping my clothes on the floor. He spins me into his body, inches away from his face, I look down to his foam beard, feeling his hand interlocked with mine, resting on my waist, with my free hand, spreading the shaving foam all over his face, smirking as Luke presses his eyes shut, trying to hard not to get it in his mouth.
I let out a small laugh again, letting go of his hand, resting my hand on his bare shoulder, his t-shirt from last night somewhere I do not know. I push him a little towards the door, "I'll need you to go in the room," I smirk, looking at his face covered in shaving foam, his blue eyes piercing through.
"Why?" He pouts, picking up my clothes from the floor, handing them to me. I take them off him, pointing towards the shower.
"Because there is no shower curtain!" Luke smirks, shrugging his shoulders, rolling my eyes at his reaction.
"Well I don't mind!" He teases, walking further into the bathroom, continuing to shave the section which he missed before, "let me just finish," he pouts in the mirror, looking at his reflection, rolling my eyes and walking back into the room, sitting on the edge of the double bed.
"I don't even know why you're shaving, there's nothing there," I tease, shouting to Luke staring at the blank walls.
"Oh just be quiet," Luke calls back, hearing him laugh a little from the bathroom.
After a couple of minutes Luke emerges from the bathroom with the shaving foam gone from his face. "There we go" He laughs, waving his hands towards the bathroom, bowing as I walk past, pushing his shoulder lightly, making him let out a small laugh, shutting the door behind me.
I turn on the shower, the water coming out slowly, dripping into the shower, slowly picking up speed. Eventually I finish the shower, wrapping a towel around my body, brushing my hair through, landing to just above my shoulders, the ends loosing the blonde ombre that was once brighter than it is now.
I look at my appearance, sighing in the mirror, brushing my teeth, and applying a thin layer of makeup, finally applying a cat eye with some eyeliner, and throwing on the baggy white v-neck t-shirt, tucking the front in to the dark denim ripped shorts. I throw the towel over the side of the bath, taking my clothes from last night in my hands, walking back out into the bedroom.
I shove all my clothes in my backpack, grabbing my sunglasses and sliding the neck of one of the sides in the v of my t-shirt, letting them hang there, sitting quite nicely in the neck line.
I turn to Luke, who's now in a pair of black jeans with a hole in the knee, and a plain white t-shirt, "Oh look we're matching," I let out a small giggle as Luke raises his eyebrows.
I follow Luke back to the car, with my backpack slung on my back and Luke's duffle bag slung over his. I throw it in the back seat, sitting in the passenger seat, as Luke kept the roof down. "Can you tell me where were going now?" I ask, turning to face Luke, running my hands through my hair, sliding my sunglasses over my eyes.
"How did you get blue mirrored ray bans?" changing the subject,
"Customized them online, but don't go changing the subject!" I giggle, as Luke smirks slightly, the corners of his mouth curving, showing his dimples, making me almost pass out. I wasn't going to lie, Luke was very attractive, but every time I see him, I'm just over ridden by the feeling that when all this is over, he's just going to leave again.
I look down towards my lap, a frown taking over my face, "You alright?" Luke asks, looking over to me as he starts the engine. I nod and look away from him, unable to stop thinking about Luke leaving. "Megs, don't be like this, I'll tell you where were going.." he trails off,
"I'm not upset about that," I blurt out, my mouth moving before I could even think.
"So you are upset," he states, "what about?"
I sigh to myself, realizing how childish I am, worrying about something so trivial, "that after this trip is over, you're just going to leave and there will be no point of this trip," I almost whisper to myself, still not turning to look at Luke.
Luke rests his hand on my thigh, sending a shiver down my body, a feeling which I honestly couldn't pin down, but whatever it was I liked it. "You honestly think after all of this, I'm just not going to bother with you anymore?" Luke furrows his eyebrows as I turn to look him, and nod slightly, just enough so he can see what I'm doing. Luckily he can't see my eyes behind my mirrored sunglasses as the sun beats down on my back, tears threatening to fall.
"That's ridiculous Megs, why would I do all of this?" He asks, and I just shrug my shoulders, realizing how idiotic I sound.
"Sorry," is all I'm able to come out with, "I don't know what I was thinking."
"It's fine," he lets out a small sigh, moving his hand from my thigh to my shoulder, bringing me into a hug, the gear stick hitting me, letting out a small groan, "oh shit sorry," he releases me, making me laugh.
"Don't worry," I giggle, the tears backing up from my eyes, luckily not deciding to fall.
Luke pulls out of the motel and back onto the highway. We sit in a comfortable silence for a little while, my head leaning up to the sky, embracing the sun on my face, closing my eyes behind my sunglasses. Luke turns to me, tapping my leg so I look at him. I turn my head, looking over to Luke, his bright blue eyes visible even under sunglasses, "do you want anything to eat or drink?" he asks,
"Yeah I'm a little hungry," I smile slightly as he nods a little, turning back to the wheel, turning off at the exit, onto a little shop and gas station. "I'll be right back," he adds, unclasping my seat belt, about to get up, "what you doing?" he asks, stopping in his tracks.
"Coming with you?" I almost ask, more than the statement it was meant to be.
"It's fine, honestly," he reassures me, gesturing for me to sit back down again, which I do. I check my messages, seeing a message from Em,
"Hey Megs, where are you now? Calum told me where Luke is taking you but told me to keep it a secret.." - Em,12:09
I smile, reading the message from my best friend, replying;
"Hey Em! I have honestly NO idea, he won't tell me a thing, if I'm not back in a week and haven't heard from me, call the cops"
I look up to see Luke, with a large bottle in his hands, a few packs of something and a few smaller things. He almost throws them to me when he gets in the car, shutting the door with his now free hands, taking the items back off me. He hands me a large bottle of Sunny D, "It's a clue," He smiles, showing all his teeth, along with his irresistible dimples, "Of where were going.." he adds,
"Sunny D?" I ask, totally lost by this clue,
"Yeah, because where were going is 'Sunny' all the time!" He points to the title of the drink when he says 'sunny', obviously really proud of himself.
I let out a small laugh, shaking my head, really unsure of where he is talking about. "I honestly have no idea," I giggle again, almost out of embarrassment, "California is sunny all the time, so we could easily be staying in the state!" I smile, as Luke slouches in his seat,
"No!" He shakes his head continuously, "luckily I have more ideas for clues," he takes a chocolate pudding from the pile of food now in his lap.
"Chocolate pudding?" I ask, Luke nodding his head in excitement.
"Chocolate?" I ask another question, Luke now shaking his head,
"What would the English call it?" Luke asks,
"Chocolate pudding?" Luke lets out a small laugh, shaking his head again.
"What meal would you have it?" he asks, urging me closer to the answer.
"Pudding?" I respond, really unsure of where he's going with this.
"Dessert!" He almost shouts, making me jump, leaning back a little so I'm a little further away from him in case he gets a bit too excited. "Because where we are going is mainly desert" he explains himself.
"So a state which is mainly desert, and is hot all the time?" I ask, still unsure of what he is talking about.
He then hands me an apple, as he obviously knows I still don't know where he is talking about. I take the apple in my hand, throwing it up in the air and catching it a few times, "An apple?"
Luke nods, and I just stare at it, "is the state renowned for apples?" I ask, Luke letting out a loud laugh, making a huge smile appear on my face, even though I was obviously wrong, I made him laugh, and that, for some reason made me so happy, the fact that I could make him laugh, even if it did mean embarrassing myself by not understanding his clues.
"Starts with an A," Luke states, "Like an Apple, starts with A,"
"Oh, okay, right to begin with, that's a shit clue," I laugh, looking down to the apple, then back up to Luke, furrowing my eyebrows, trying to think of a state that begins with A.
"I don't appreciate the criticism but I'll take it, but it's Arizona," Luke's cheeks turn a bright pink, making a smile appear on my face. Just seeing him blush just made my stomach go all funny.
"Arizona?" I ask, unsure of why he chose this destination,
"Yeah!" He almost jumps again, grabbing my attention further, making me slightly jump again, smiling seeing him get so excited, he obviously saw the confused look on my face as he adds to his previous excitement, "The Grand Canyon!" He explains, and I finally put all the pieces together.
"Really!" I ask, this time me the one making Luke jump as I almost burst with excitement, "I've always wanted to go," I add.
"I know," Luke smirks, "I remembered you always used to go on about how beautiful it looked," his smirk changing to a full smile, revealing his deep dimples again, "but obviously it could never be as beautiful as you.." he trails off.
I roll my eyes behind my sunglasses, "You make me feel ill Lucas Hemmings," I let out a small laugh.
