You lay next to Calum on the plaid blanket, staring into the night sky.
The only noise is the sound of chirping crickets.
“Babe,” Calum suddenly interrupts the silence, grabbing your hand and pulling it onto his torso. “Please promise me that you’ll stand by me forever. Because I’m so scared to lose you.”
“You’ll never lose me, Cal,” you assure him softly.
His band is just getting bigger and bigger.
“But if we do split up, because fate wants us to,” he strokes your hand softly, “and one day you have mini yous running around. And one day you’re cleaning out the attic, and find pictures of us and our relationship, and they see. When they ask about them, tell them my name. And tell them about the crowds, about how wild the crowds went. And tell them that I hope they shine.”

You stare into Luke’s sorrow blue eyes across the room throughout the confetti falling from the ceiling.
The two of you made a promise.
If his band got chosen to join Warp Tour, you would break up.

Proud tears spring into your eyes.
“This punk-ass little band of thieves won? This is absurd,” a voice whispers to some from besides you.
You turn to them and spot Selena Gomez talking to Taylor Swift.
“Selena?” She turns her attention to you. “Fuck off.”

Bring on the pretenders,

You sit on the roof of the car next to Ashton, your formal dress getting wrinkled beneath you.
The night lights mask Ashton’s face, making weird patterns.
You giggle, leaning over to kiss him.
In these moments you don’t care.
You just live.
“Long live all the magic we made!” You yell, raising a hand into the air.
The breeze rushes against it.
