Jamie's POV
It was exactly half five and I was seated in the restaurant where Mia and I had our first one on one session and where she made me fall in love with her as well as milkshakes.
The forward waitress who flirted with me last time wasn't around so I was fine sitting alone at the booth.
I was scrolling through wrestling updates when I sensed movement. I looked up and there she was. Mia's hair gave the impression that it was more than windy outside and her smile gave the impression that she was happy to see me.
"Hey", she basically whispered.
" Sit down, please ", I gestured to the space next to me.
She hesitated but then sat down next to me, putting her bag on the table.
I looked at her and she looked down, for a few seconds it was just silence except for her playing with the straps of her shoulder bag that hung of the table and dangled.
"I didn't think you would come", I finally said.
" Why not?"
"Because of what happened earlier", I shrugged feeling embarrassed.
" I'm sorry about that Jamie, I -", she started but I cut her off.
"It's my fault, I scared you. I'm moving too fast", I said trying to apologise.
" No Jamie, I've been letting my past get to me, but that's wrong. I've had time to heal, now I'm just being a coward by not wanting to actually move on with my life. "
"Are we talking about your dad or Trent? ", I inquired to get some clarification.
" Both of them, but in this case Trent. I thought he was perfect but I failed to remember that nobody is perfect. I'm still getting over him Jamie", she explained.
"I hit a nerve when I wanted to make things official right?That's what this is about."
"Before you get angry-"
"What did you come her to tell me Mia? ", I asked getting annoyed.
I understood that she and Trent were serious and he broke her heart. I understood that she's hurt and damaged but what I didn't understand at all was the fact that she felt like she had to carry his rejection with her and feel like she's not good enough. When she was more than enough.
Just looking at her made me fight the urge to grab her and just hold her in my arms or intertwine my fingers with hers or even just touch her cheek.
She took a deep breath and then she sighed.
"I came here to tell you that I want to be with you Jamie", as the words left her mouth my heart began to race in my chest. I was either about to die or get very close to dying.
"What do you mean?", was all I managed to say.I didn't know what I was doing, she just agreed to be my girlfriend and I was asking her stupid questions.
" I know you know what I mean, you just want me to say it", she rolled her eyes.
"So what if I want you to say it? ", I smirked at her.
Mia's face turned a light shade of red, it made me want to kiss her but of course I didn't.
"I'm giving you a chance to break my heart Jamie Walker. "
" I won't hurt you Mia, I want to be the guy you deserve, the boyfriend you deserve. "
"You already are. "
By the time those words escaped her crimson lips I had already wrapped my arms around her which caused her to rest her head on my chest. I didn't know how I had the courage to do that but I didn't care, I concentrated on Mia's breathing which felt as if it had synchronized with the beating of my heart, if my heart was actually beating and I wasn't in some sort of post death illusion.
