**8 months later**
"Are you freaking kidding me?"
"Um..no?"
"Absolutely not."
"Mom, please!"
"Teresa, I can't have you going to school like that!"
"I mean, it's not technically a school day," I told her.
"It's a Christmas dress for a dance. You're supposed to wear stuff like this."
"Teresa, I don't know," my mom said.
We were at the mall shopping for the annual Christmas dance at school. Everyone looked forward to it because besides prom, this was the most important dance of the year.
"Yes you do! Just think how pretty i'll look dancing with Thomas, or taking pictures out in the snow!"
"You'll freeze to death," my mom warned.
"And even if I do, I'll still look really cute."
I looked in the mirror of the dressing room. It was true the dress was very pretty. I especially liked the jewels on the top.
"If it's what you want, I can get it for you," my mom said.
"Actually?" I turned around.
"Yes," she replied.
"Oh my god mom, thank you!" I ran up to her and hugged her.
Tom😘💕:You ready for tomorrow?
Me: you bet!
Tom😘💕:Did you get your dress yet?
Me: i did. do u want to see a pic?
Tom😘💕:Nope. Surprise me.
Me: haha ok. what time will u pick me up?
Tom😘💕: How about 7:00?
Me: perfect! i'll see you tomorrow!
Tom😘💕: Yep. Bye!
It was a Saturday night, December 23rd, and Christmas was almost here. I never had plans on Christmas before, except for just hanging around with my parents and enjoying hot chocolate and watching cheesy Christmas movies. But this year is different. I now have a boyfriend, ever since spring break back in April. And this Christmas, we have plans.
First, of course, the dance tomorrow. And then on Christmas Eve, I'm going over to Thomas' house to watch a Christmas movie. And then on the actual Christmas Day, I'm going to spend the morning with my family, then Thomas is coming over and we're going ice skating.
My phone buzzed.
I picked it up and looked at the message.
Tom😘💕: Hey, beautiful. I was wondering if I could pick you up at 6:00?
Me: sure, tom. why not 7:00?
Tom😘💕: Because maybe we could get some dinner? If you don't want to, it's fine! Just let me know.
Me: omg yes! that's perfect! thank u sm tom! Ilyyy
Tom😘💕: Love you too :)
"Hey, mom," I called as I walked down the stairs.
"Yes?" She responded.
She was sitting down at the kitchen, reading.
"What are you reading?" I asked.
She flipped over the cover.
"The Maze Runner? Never heard of it," I said.
"It's actually pretty good. And look at this!"
I leaned down to look at the print.
"The main characters are Teresa and Thomas. What a coincidence!" She said.
"Huh. That's funny," I laughed.
"Anyway, what's up?" My mom asked.
"Um, Thomas is picking me up at six and we're going to dinner before the dance. Is that okay?" I asked.
"Sure! Where are you guys going?"
"I'm not sure. I think it's a surprise," I responded.
"How did you get so lucky with him?" My mom chuckled.
I laughed. "Not sure. But anyways, it's cool if I go?"
"Of course, Teresa. But be back by 11:00."
"Will do. Thanks again!"
