Jeffrey Dean Morgan as El Dargon

****************************************************

El Dargon's POV

I hold my three day old daughter protectively and I face my fourteen comrades. We are the Ruling Council and preside over all supernaturals on earth. Now we have to decide what to do with my daughter. As a member of the council, I know what must be done but as her father I hope my idea will sway my comrades. We'll see.

"Dargon, what on earth were you thinking?" Payne asks.

"We can all conclude that I wasn't thinking," I reply.

"Not with your head anyway," smirks Alexi.

"Seriously Alexi that's the best you can say in this situation?"

I look around at my colleagues and face them with as much bravado as I can muster. I gently rock the baby girl in my arms. Her mother died after giving birth to her three days ago and I don't know what to do with her. I had the foresight to stop at the local hospital where they cleaned, fed, and clothed her for the last two days. At least she smells better now than she did then.

As a member of the Ruling Class of all supernatural beings, one of our powers is mind control. A very dangerous power if misused. Another reason I rarely use it. Unfortunately, I needed to use that power in spades to get my daughter situated. A little mind control secured me lots of diapers, formula, clothes, and a two-day stay at the local hospital with no questions. She's okay for now.

And so here I am with my comrades, trying to find a solution to my 'tiny' and beautiful problem.

Just then as if she's aware she's the object of our debate, my daughter, let out a loud wail. She packs quite a pair of lungs I tell you. She's only a few days old, and she's already a demanding little imp. I rock her some more, trying to calm her down. When her crying increases, I do what any father will unlimited powers will do; put her in an invisible swing while we figure out what to do with her.

"Okay, this is a new thing for us, so we need to deal with it."

"It is not an 'it', Drago. 'It' is a baby, a girl." I snarl at him. Where is my anger coming from, when my plan is to give her up?

"This is exactly the reason they've since barred us from mating with humans. And why? Remember what happened to Sorenson." Drago continues.

Whenever we mention Sorenson's name, we always chant this prayer: "May his wolf forever run with his Moon goddess," as we do now. And we all bow silently in reverence to a fallen comrade.

I look at all my remaining colleagues: EL Payne, EL Kadir and I rule the witches; Original Drago, Original Lucien, Original Vlad rule the vampires; Elder Thomas, Elder Farrar, Elder Wolffang rule the werewolves; Elder Alexi, Elder Conan, Elder Sheng rule the werecats; Wein Shade, Wein Aphid, Wein Aeden rule the fates or 'others' as they are commonly known.

"And the mother? How did you dispose of her?" Asks Aeden.

"At the very least do me the courtesy of coming out of the shadows when you speak to me," I demand angrily looking in their direction.

The Weins are 'Shadows' and love to shimmer in and out, and I hate when they hold conversations while invisible. Really frustrating.

"Apologies my friend." He replies as they all shimmer into their seats.

"The mother?" he repeats.

"I had the Mystic Circle coven take care of her body and belongings. Like she never existed."

"Why a human for the goddess's sake," asks Farrar. "You know they did not build humans to withstand the growth of an Elemental's seed."

"She was beautiful. Her hair was the color of the sun. Her eyes were bluer than the ocean. Her voice was sweeter than a siren's. She was perfect. Leonora was a gift from the Sun god, so radiant I couldn't stop myself," I reply.

"A gift you debased." Kadir sneers.

"Not debased, loved."

"Come on Dargon, you said you would never give in to the prophecy and will do everything to derail it and your way was to impregnate a human? Please don't infuse love into a situation where there was no love," Sheng drawls.

"Think whatever you want, I cared for her," I insist, trying to convince them and myself.

I really was selfish. I took the love offered by a sweet human and used it to defy my father's prophecy. Do I believe my action has stopped it? No, I just have to make sure I never meet my 'mate'. Mate for me? An Elemental? A member of the ruling class? Inconceivable!

"Let's be honest here, Dargon. The Sun god gave you a prophecy; you ignored it. You tried to circumvent it and now you have a baby girl as a result, right?" Lucien adds.

"Her name is Esme. Leonora asks that I name her Esme. She says it means esteemed, beloved, emerald. She has eyes that are even bluer than her mother's."

"Esme, that is a beautiful name. Did her blue eyes just turn to topaz right now?" Ask Lucien in awe.

"Yes, they did," I reply, very proud that my newborn is displaying just the tiniest of her powers. Remarkable!

"Dargon, is that sun and moon intertwined shape on her upper shoulder?" Aphid whispers as they all continue to look at Esme in her invisible swing in amazement.

"Imagine my surprise, too. I would think my daughter will have only the sun imprinted on her, but the moon is under it, too. She belongs to the Sun god, not the Moon goddess, right?" I ask my fellow Sun god's children, needing an answer for this conundrum.

"She's not a werewolf, werecat or other so I'm confused. Why would the sign of my Moon goddess be on a witch?" Asks Wolffang.

"I think it all ties to the prophecy. You know her birth has not canceled it." Kadir nods at Esme.

"I was hoping it did."

"No, it hasn't, and you know it. My suggestion is don't impregnate another human. It will not cancel the prophecy so for Sun god's sake stop trying." El Payne pleads. "Just accept the situation, Dargon."

"Easy for you all to say," I yell at them. "How can I have a mate? A mate? That is beneath my position as an Elemental. They created us above such baloney." I point to every one of us.

"Why now?" I ask exasperated.

As if to answer my question, Esme cries again. I twirl my finger and the invisible rocker, starts again, rocking her back and forth.

"What about Sorenson's son? He should be about six months old now, right? What's the latest news?" Vlad asks.

"His mother died a few months after his birth. Her werewolf genes kept her alive for a while. He is being raised by her mate. He is an Omega." I tell them.

"An Omega? An Elder's son is an Omega? Shouldn't he be an Alpha or Beta at the very least?" Conan asks.

"We're just as baffled as you are. Again, who knows what is on the horizon with the prophecy, Sorenson's death, and the birth of these two children. A first in existence." Thomas confirms.

"At least, Sorenson's son is in a werewolf pack so whatever happens with him, we'll know immediately but your child, Dargon, what are you going to do with her? Leave her at a nearby coven?" Drago asks.

"I cannot do that. I know witches. We are territorial, more than any other supernatural group. If I leave her in a coven at this age, she will not last the year. Especially with the status, she has already. A newborn as a High Priestess? They will eat her alive figuratively, and drain her powers literally."

"So, what are you going to do?" Drago persists.

"Before I tell you, I need you all to take a solemn oath that we will share nothing that pertains to this child with anyone from this moment on. Do you all solemnly swear?"

I look at each one of my comrades, all fourteen of them and receive an 'I solemnly swear' from everyone.

"Good. I found her a good human family to live with until she shows her powers."

"WHAT THE HELL!!!" They all scream, in unison, too.

And they say we the ruling class never agree on anything.

Esme burst out laughing. I glance at her in her rocker and yes; I believe this three-day-old baby is laughing at us! Sun god help me.
