The tears streamed down Isabelle’s face ever since the alarm clock went off, that morning.
She was glad that her mother helped her waking up her little boy and getting him ready, while she finished packing some final things.
It broke her heart to leave her six year old son, Theo, and her mother, Lisa, back there, where she grew up. But she had to, she knew she would never get a proposition like that ever again.
She had grown up in a Californian neighborhood, and always had a relatively good life, with her parents. But ever since her father tragically died in a car accident, their lives had sunk. Her mother, as always, made a huge effort to make their life as good as possible, and so did Isabelle, as soon as she was able to work, trying to find small jobs around and earn some little money.
However, luck was not on their side, they were not able to get stable jobs and, with a few issues going on the neighborhood, they ended up having tons of difficulties.
After her little boy was born, they saw themselves in the need of even more money, obviously, to raise him properly and to give him all the best. As to his father, he didn’t seem to care he was going to be a father, when Isabelle told him the news.
So, she carried on with her life, and despite all the difficulties, she couldn’t complain, because she was happy with her mother and her beautiful Theo.
But when that proposition appeared, offering a good job, with an even better salary, in Island Paradise, Bahamas, at a hotel, she thought she could not say no.
For the sake of her family, the ones she loved the most in this world, she had to take it.
She would finally be able to buy Theo many things he wished, give him presents he always talked about. She knew how sad he felt for seeing other kids with tons of things that she was not able to give him.
She felt sad as well, more than anyone thought.
“Mommy?” her boy entered the room “Grandma is calling… we are ready”
Belle turned to Theo, smiling sadly “I’m gonna miss you” she hugged him
“I’m gonna miss you so much, mom!” he hugged her tight “Why can’t I go with you?!”
“And leave grandma here, alone?” she caressed him “I will be back soon, or, if everything goes well, take you both there. Why not?” she smiled “I just want you to be a big boy and be good to grandma, ok?”
“Of course mommy” he refused to let go of her
“Oh” she kissed his cheek “I love you, baby”
“Love you too, mommy”
It didn’t take them a long time to finally leave the neighborhood and reach the airport.
“Are you sure you want to go?” Lisa asked
“It’s for the best, mom” Belle spoke “I’ll send you money as soon as I can” she smiled “Let’s stop this life… shall we?”
Lisa smiled and hugged her “I’m so proud of you…”
Belle smiled “I’m gonna miss you so much…” she pulled Theo to them as well “Take care of each other, deal?”
“Deal” the lady and the little boy said.
That was when the loud speaker went on and announced her flight.
“Call me!” she shouted, starting to walk away, with tears in her eyes
“You too, Belle” Lisa sobbed “Please, be fine!”
“I love you!” she said
“Love you too!!!” Theo yelled, held by Lisa
Belle took a deep breath and sat on the plane. Everything was unknown to her.
She had never entered a plane before, she had never left the place she lived in. So, she was there, embarking on an adventure to the unknown.
She felt truly excited, she didn’t even mind spending her last savings for the plane tickets. All she could think of was the money she would earn. How she and her family would live such a better life.
*a few hours later*
She was totally lost when she finally got out of the small plane that landed in Island Paradise. However, she didn’t even think about panicking yet, because she was too distracted with the wonderful sights she could see.
“Wow… Paradise does exist…” she smiled, taking a walk around, delighted with the place.
“My lady?!” An old tall man called her
“Yes?”
“You seem lost, can I help you somewhat?”
“Oh!” she smiled, giggling a little bit “Actually, I was searching for this address. I know absolutely nothing here. I got a job offer and now… here I am!”
The man looked at the paper, then back at her “My lady, are you sure they gave you the right address?”
“Yes, I called again to make that sure. This lady called Mrs. Renner spoke to me”
“Well, let me just go to the reception and ask about this place. I live here since I was born and I never heard of this place!” he said, handing the piece of paper back to her.
“Okay, thank you!” she smiled, turning around to take a look at everything, yet again.”
“My goodness,” Another voice startled her “the hotel will be much more required after people start seeing you there”
She looked at a good looking middle aged man, in a suit, looking at her “You must be Isabelle Rivers?”
Her jaw dropped “Yes I am…”
“I work for Jodie Renner, I believe you talked to her?”
“Oh, god, yes!”
“I’m here to pick you up, should we go?”
She looked at him, hesitating.
He smiled charmingly “C’mon, do you want me to call Mrs. Renner so you’ll believe me?” he handed her his phone “Or you could check out the numbers?”
She bit her lip.
C’mon, what were the odds he was a criminal?
He seemed to know about her, after all.
“Alright then, what is your name, anyway?” she asked
“Lemme help you with your suitcase” like every good gentleman, he helped her “You can call me Fritz” he smiled at her, as she followed him to his car.
She accepted his hand as he helped her getting inside and kept talking to him as he drove her to unknown places.
“You are too beautiful” he glanced at her with a smile
She looked away, not giving into his flirty manners.
Instead, she concentrated on the roads, she noticed they were getting away from the center, which she found odd.
“Mrs. Renner mentioned the hotel was right on the center…” she whispered, when she felt the car abruptly stopping. “what’s going on?” she asked, scared.
Fritz quickly walked to her side and opened the door, scaring her even more “Smart, aren’t we?” he smiled devilishly
Her eyes widened “You’re… not… who I supposed to meet are you?”
He smiled, before hitting her hard.
Her world sank immediately into darkness “Oh, sweetie, I am exactly who you were supposed to meet.”
He locked her in the car trunk and drove away.
Hello!
So here is the beggining of my new story!
I know there was no Robert in this chappie, but he'll show up really soon, I promise!
I wanted to tell that this is a pretty serious story, about something that happens every second in this world. I'll try to make it as real as possible.
