Amelia's ring above.
Amelia Smith
"Yes." I breathe with a smile on my face.
Liam smiles as well. "You will?"
"Of course, I will." I give him my hand he slips the ring.
"She said yes!" Jacob screams into the mic and everyone starts clapping.
Liam lifts me off the ground and twirls me. "My future wife." He grins.
"I can't believe it." I smile.
"You should."
"Liam." I hear a small voice say.
I look down and see a cute little girl, wearing a puffy pink dress. Liam looks at her. "I'm trying to have a great time with my fiancée, Ella."
Fiancée. It sounds so good on his lips.
"But you said we would play!" Ella pouts.
"Later, I promise." He bends down and kisses her cheek then turns to me. "This is my cousin, Ella. She's Aunt Soph's daughter and she's just five."
"Olivia is my mum, not Sophia." The five-year-old rolls her eyes at Liam and I laugh.
"Hi, cutie." I smile at her.
"Hi, happy birthday." She smiles back, shyly.
"Thank you."
"Congratulations!" Emily squeals and hugs me.
"Thanks, Em. I can't believe it." I breathe.
"You should," Nicole says and joins the hug. "We're so happy for you." They say at the same time. "Thank you, guys. I love you."
After getting so many congratulations and hugs, I decide to go outside by the pool to catch some air. Today has been awesome.
I'm wearing Liam's ring on my finger. I'm freaking engaged to him! I love him.
The cold air hits me and I slowly rub my arms.
"Hey." I hear a deep voice say.
"Oh, hey." I turn around and see Adam, looking roguishly handsome. "I didn't know you came."
He shrugs and hands me something covered in a slick black wrapping paper. "Here."
"For me?" I ask.
"It's a birthday and an engagement present." He answers blankly.
"Aww, thank you." I smile. "Can I open it?"
I'm really eager to see what's inside. I can't believe that Adam got me a gift.
He just shrugs and I figured long ago that that is his way of saying 'yes'.
I unwrap the gift and see a Tiffany and Co box. I open it and my jaw drops. "Wow."
It's the most beautiful diamond necklace I've ever seen. It's perfect and it looks really expensive.
The necklace.
"My brother said you liked jewelry."
I smile at him. "I do. This is so beautiful. Thank you so much. Can I hug you?"
He frowns. "No."
I roll my eyes and chuckle. "Thanks anyway."
We both stand there in comfortable silence but he suddenly clears his throat.
"I didn't mean what I said in Los Angeles."
"What?" I widen my eyes, unable to hide my shock.
"After you broke up with Liam. He came to my house. He was so sad, angry, he was breaking things, being rude to everyone, he was acting just like-" Adam stops and looks away.
"Just like what?" I frown.
He looks into my eyes. "Like me."
Oh.
I feel bad as he says that. Is that how he thinks of himself?
"I do not want to ever see him like that again so don't even think of breaking his heart, Smith. He is the best person I know." He continues with a stone-cold expression on his face.
"I won't, I promise," I tell him.
He analyses my face, I guess he's trying to figure out if I'm telling the truth or not.
"So what did do you not mean?" I ask.
"I don't know you so it wasn't my place to call you selfish and say that you don't deserve him."
"Are you apologizing?" I grin.
"No." He deadpans, glaring at me.
"Do you still 'dislike' me?"
"I don't like people in general but I can tolerate you now because you make my brother happy." He says, looking at the pool.
Let me translate: He doesn't hate me anymore!
Thank God! I mean, we are about to be in-laws. The past is in the past.
"Awww, I don't dislike you anymore too." I smile. "Friends?" I hold out my hand for him.
He shakes his head and then he walks away.
Okayyyy.
We'll get there. Baby steps.
****
"Guys, guys, guys, GUYS!"
"What?" Everyone turns to me.
"I really want to say something."
"Sure, go on." Liam encourages.
I clap my hands together. "I just want to say how grateful I am to you guys for throwing me the most awesome birthday ever and also I love all your gifts, thank you for that but Mia," I turn to her with a smile.
"What?"
"I love you but please stop buying me lingerie every year! I will have sex when I want to."
She chuckles. "But Amelia-"
"Wait, what do you mean?" Brian cuts her off.
"Amelia is a virgin don't you know that?" Jacob speaks and I glare at him.
"WHAT?!" Brian, Ian, and Rob exclaim.
Colton doesn't say anything but he looks surprised.
Brian looks at me. "You're a freaking virgin? Dude, you haven't had sex in almost a year?" He turns Liam.
"Yes, he definitely hasn't." Nicole laughs and I do too.
Liam doesn't seem to find this situation funny but I really do.
"Wait, haven't you like told them or something?" I ask, reaching for his hand.
"Why would I do that?" He asks as if I've just lost my mind.
I shrug. "I don't know, don't best friends share everything?"
"Yes but stuff like that is too personal." He replies.
I nod. "Hmm, okay."
"So how's the celibate life, dude?" Ian asks.
"Shut up, Ian." Liam glares at him then he looks at me. "Let's go."
"Where?"
"Outside, I wanna show you something."
"Okay." I smile and take his hand.
We go outside then he stops and puts his hand over my eyes. "Why are you covering my eyes?" I chuckle.
"Just trust me."
"I do."
"Good." He says and then we start walking.
After walking for a little bit, we finally stop,
"Do you remember how you saw a Range Rover on the road last month and you were like 'omg, I like that car'?" He mimics.
"Yes but I do not sound like that." I laugh.
He removes his hands from my eyes and I see a brand new red Range Rover Valer.
"Oh my God! You bought the car?" I squeal.
He smiles. "Yeah, for you. It's your birthday gift."
I freeze. "What?"
"Here." He hands me the keys.
"Liam." My lips start to quiver. "But you already did a lot for me today. It's honestly the best day of my life. You sent me gifts this morning." I start crying.
"That was just flowers and shoes."
"Yeah but-"
"The car is for you, Amelia. You're my future wife. You deserve so much more. A car is not a big deal." He says.
"Thank you so much." I hug him, crying.
The car.
All I can think about is how lucky I am to have him. Today, he made me feel special in a way that no one ever had.
I always think that love is something that cannot be defined. I mean, it's a concept, everyone should have their definition because I have figured mine out. It is;
Liam Edward Black.
****
"I shouldn't have worn these heels." I groan.
"Want me to carry you?" Liam asks.
"No, thanks. I don't people to think I'm crazy."
It's been a month since the proposal.
Yes! A freaking month!
Liam and I are in the best time of our relationship. We are so happy and in love.
Every day, I wake up feeling more and more in love with him. I can't remember the last time we fought. We still argue though.
"Where are the girls?" Brian asks me.
"I don't know! They're getting their makeup done or something." I reply.
"Why are you here then?" He narrows his eyes.
"Because I like to be on time, Brian!"
"Should we save seats for them?" Liam asks.
He's so sweet. I could eat him.
"Sure, babe."
Brian sits first by my left then Liam and I sit together with him by my right.
We're at Rob, Ian, and Colton's graduation. I'm so happy and excited for them.
"Dude, what possessed us to take five-year courses?" Brian asks Liam.
I laugh and rest my head on Liam's shoulder.
Jacob and Tyler traveled to Berlin immediately after our finals to take care of some important business. They're going to be back soon.
Brian's phone starts ringing so he answers it. "Hey.....yes, we are......how can you be late for your boyfriend's graduation?......whatever." He ends the call.
"Who was that?"
"Emily." He answers.
"Where are they?"
"On their way in."
Chloe, Emily, Camilla, Nicole, and Jas arrive and they sit in the seats Liam saved for them.
"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the nineteenth graduation ceremony of Hardwood university. We are pleased to have you all as our students have completed their bachelor's degree on this wonderful day."
The ceremony begins and after several yawns, Colton's name is called. "Colton Adams, first honors; Petrochemical Engineering."
"Wooohooo!" We stand up and start clapping.
"That's my man!" Emily cheers, excitedly.
"Go, Man!" Brian shouts.
Colton looks at our direction and smiles then mouths 'I love you' to Emily.
"Awww." I coo.
The announcer passes 'I' and Ian's name is not called. I frown in confusion but I don't say anything. Rob's name is called and we stand up again. We are totally biased.
"First honors; Estate Management."
"Go, Robby!" I shout, clapping my hands.
"Don't block my ear, sweetheart," Liam says.
I laugh and gently punch him.
He wraps his hand around my shoulder and pulls me close. "Are we still up for our trip?"
Ohhh. The trip.
I clear my throat. "Since we're engaged-"
"You want to wait till marriage, I know." He smiles.
"Is that okay?" I ask, nervously.
He nods. "Yes, that was why I asked you to wait when you asked me. I knew you were going to change your mind after I proposed."
It turned out Liam planned everything when I saw him sitting by the pool in the Hamptons. That was when he made the life-changing decision of asking me to become his wife.
"Are you okay with that?"
"Yeah, but I can't wait any longer than our wedding night." He smirks.
"Okay." I shrug like it's not a big deal but I'm dying inside.
He bites his lip and leans forward."You better get ready, sweetheart because when I have you, I'm not going to let go. I'm going to make up for all those months." He says seductively with his eyes darkened.
Before I can say anything, Brian speaks. "Can you two shut up? Who the heck talks about sex at a grad ceremony?"
I chuckle. "You can hear us?"
"Yes, now shut up, Ian's name is about to be called."
"Ian Thompson, first honors; Electrical and Computer Engineering. Mr. Thompson is also the best graduating student with a complete 4.0 grade."
"Whaaaaat?" I drag and we all start applauding him.
Everyone is cheering and shouting his name. I hug Liam then Brian who is yelling, "that's my best friend!"
"He's mine too!" I yell.
"And mine also!" Jas yells as well.
They all graduated with first honors. I'm so happy for them. I can't imagine Hardwood without them though. I'm going to really miss them.
After the ceremony ends, the guys are finally able to come over to us.
"Congratulations!" I hug Rob first, looking at Colton who is making out with Em.
"Thanks, Kit kat." Rob smiles.
I turn to Ian. "You fucking genius!"
He laughs and does a hair flip. "That, I am."
"Congratulations." I hug him.
"Thanks, Milly." He kisses my cheek.
"So when are you guys going to set a date?" Rob asks Liam and I.
"I wanted it to be in June but she doesn't want that!" Liam answers, glaring at me.
"No! You said June 3rd! I only said no to that because it's Nicole's birthday and we have a Vegas trip planned." I defend.
"How about July?" Colton suggests.
Chloe smiles. "Yes! You guys started talking in July. It will be the perfect time to get married."
"Yeah." Everyone agrees.
I look at Liam. That's two months from now and I honestly can't wait any longer than that.
"July?" I ask.
He stares at me for a moment. Everyone looks at him, waiting for him to speak.
"July it is." He smiles.
Rob slaps him on the shoulder. "We are going to throw you one hell of a bachelor's party."
