Camila parked her car on their driveway and sighed when she noticed her dad's car is gone. It didn't bother her anymore. At first, she would feel upset and alone when Alejandro's gone for his business trip but now she got used to it.
Camila jumped on her bed and sighed before kicking off her shoes. Her phone rang making her groan. She pulled out her phone from her pocket and saw Shawn's name flashing on the screen.
Lauren would have been better Camila thought before shaking her head.
Stop Camila.. She's your friend.
Camila sighed before answering the phone.
"Hey Shawn"
"Hi Mila.. Is everything okay? You kinda left without saying goodbye"
"Yeah I'm fine.. Dad texted me to come home"
"Oh okay."
"I uhh gotta go.. I'm helping him on something"
Camila hang up the phone and stared at her silent room before letting herself cry silently. She buried her face on her hands as she cried.
"Why am I even crying?!" Camila exclaimed as she sobbed.
Her phone rang again and she quickly picked it up.
"Shawn I said I'm..."
"Who's Shawn? And why are you crying kaki?"
It was Sofi
"I'm sorry Sof.. I didn't checked before I answered"
"Are you okay? Where's dad?"
"He's on a business trip again.. how are you angel?"
Camila breathed from her nose then exhaling slowly through her mouth before wiping the tears on her cheeks trying to calm herself down.
"I'm okay Kaki.. why are you crying? Is it that time of the month?"
Camila chuckled at her sister's words.
"I'm fine.. I just miss you that's all"
"I miss you too.. and mom. I dreamt about her last night"
"Really? About what?"
Camila tried so hard to keep her tears inside. Sofi mentioning their mom just gave her the urge to cry again.
"She was giving me a bath and playing with my hair on the water"
"That's great.. how is school?"
Camila changed the topic to prevent herself from crying.
"It's okay.. I have friends now and we always walk to class together. They always cheer me up when I'm sad."
"Me too. My friends always make me laugh when I'm sad. Especially Lauren.. she would invite me to her house and we would watch disney movies to cheer me up"
Camila smiled at the memory.
"Who's Lauren?"
"She's our new neighbor"
"Is she pretty?"
"Yes.. She's really pretty and nice."
"My friends are calling me. Stop crying okay? I miss you kaki"
"I miss you too princess. Take care of yourself, okay?"
"I will. I love you. Byeee"
"I love you so much, Bye"
The call ended and Camila jumped off her bed to take a quick shower before grabbing dinner.
She stepped out of the shower and brushed her teeth before throwing some sweatpants and a shirt. She grabbed her keys and stopped when she saw Lauren from the window making her way towards her front door. The doorbell rang startling Camila a little.
"Hey.." Lauren gave her a soft smile as soon as Camila came into sight.
"Hi" Camila smiled back.
"I noticed that your dad is gone again and I was just wondering if you'd like to go to Mcdonalds for dinner? Like we could take out some food and eat on the beach to cheer you up?" Lauren rambled.
"Why would you think that I'm upset?" Camila furrowed her brows.
"I saw you.... crying" Lauren whispered.
"How? You guys were at the café?" Camila whispered back.
"After I asked Taylor out I went home immediately to check on you.. we were worried after you left..Shawn said you're trying to help your dad about something which is a lie.. so... why did you left?"
She asked her out?! Camila thought. Out of all what Lauren just said that was the only one that got her attention.
"I wasn't feeling well" Camila lied.
"Lie" Lauren rolled her eyes "I can tell when you're lying Camzi"
That nickname made Camila form a small smile.
"So.. McDonalds?" Lauren asked smiling.
"Love too" Camila smiled back.
After grabbing some chicken nuggets, fries and burgers, Camila decided that they should just hang out in her place which Lauren agreed to. Camila and Lauren moved the furnitures aside before filling the floor with pillows. Both of them settled down on the pillows Lauren was leaning on the couch while Camila lay down on her stomach as they devour their food while watching Beauty and the Beast.
"She should've just used a spell to open that steel cage" Lauren said before eating some fries.
"It's Belle, Lauren. Not Hermione" Camila chuckled.
"I'd die for Emma Watson" Lauren said.
"You're weird" Camila chuckled.
"Weird is the new sexy babe"
Camila blushed when Lauren called her babe.
She probably calls everyone that. Don't be delusional Camila.
"Camz" Lauren called snapping Camila out of her thoughts.
"Huh?"
"Shawn's calling you" Lauren said her eyes still glued to the TV.
"Can you answer? I'm watching a movie" Camila replied.
"Hey Shawn" Lauren answered faking a tone of excitement "Yeah she's fine.. she's devouring a burger now like an ogre"
Camila threw a pillow at Lauren who caught it before throwing it back to Camila's face.
"Yeah.. okay... no problem.. bye Shawn" Lauren hang up the phone.
"What did he want?" Camila asked
"Just checking on you" Lauren answered "He's a nice guy"
"He is" Camila sighed.
"What's wrong?" Lauren asked noticing the sad tone in Camila's voice. She move and lay down on her stomach besides Camila.
"Nothing.."
"I can tell when you're lying" Lauren said tucking a lose hair behind Camila's ear.
"I'm not feeling Shawn anymore" Camila sighed making Lauren frown.
"Why?"
"I don't know.. he's nice and sweet but I'm just not feeling it, you know? Maybe it was just attraction"
"But earlier Ally said you guys took so long..."
"We passed an ice cream shop and Shawn insisted that he buys me one" Camila chuckled "why? What did you thought we did?" Camila smirked.
Damn that smirk. Lauren thought.
"N-nothing" Lauren stuttered "What about Friday? You guys are going on a date"
"I'll talk to him just... not right now" Camila sighed.
"Is that the reason why you're crying?" Lauren asked and Camila shook her head no.
"I just felt alone.. I miss my sister and dad and I aren't in good terms"
"What's her name?" Lauren asked trying to change the subject. She hates seeing Camila feeling down and upset.
"Sofi" Camila smiled.
"What she like?"
"She's a pain in the ass but I love her so much. When she was still here and dad is away we would always watch Disney movies..exactly like what we're doing now.. then after we would have a pillow fight" Camila chuckled at the memory "God I miss her so much"
"What else?" Lauren rested her chin on her hand waiting for Camila to continue.
"We would put our socks on and slide on the floor while singing along to High School Musical" Camila chuckled. "I would take her to the park and play with her until she's tired and hungry"
"You guys sound so adorable" Lauren smiled.
Camila smiled back at Lauren who was listening attentively to her.
If this is one of the ways Lauren would cheer me up then I want to be upset everyday.
"Camz" Lauren chuckled.
"What?"
"You're staring" Lauren smiled.
"Sorry.. where are we?" Camila chuckled.
"Sofi"
"Oh yeah.. She called me when I got home ealier. Just hearing her voice makes me miss her more"
"Where is she?" Lauren asked softly.
"Dad sent her away. She's at a boarding school in England"
"That's so far." Lauren frowned. "How old is she?"
"She'll be 9 in April" Camila replied.
"Poor thing" Lauren sighed.
"I felt so relieved when she told me that she's doing great in school"
"That's good to hear" Lauren smiled. "What school does she go to?"
"Leweston" Camila replied.
"She'll be back here in Summer, right?" Lauren asked and Camila nodded.
"Tell you what.." Lauren sat up "When she comes back from England, I'll take you guys to Disneyland"
"You don't have to do that Lo"
"I want to Camz.. I wanna meet Sofi"
"Fine.. but we'll split the expenses"
"But.."
"No buts Jauregui" Camila cut her off.
Lauren rolled her eyes before nodding "Fine"
It was quiet for a second before Lauren cleared her throat.
"It's late.. I gotta go." Lauren stood up but Camila grabbed her hand stopping her from walking towards the door.
"Please stay?" Camila whispered.
Lauren felt weak looking at Camila's brown eyes. It was clear in Camila's eyes that she's lonely.
Damn those eyes.
"I just don't want to be alone tonight" Camila stood up not letting go of Lauren's hand.
"Okay" Lauren whispered "I'll be back in 15 minutes"
"Where are you going?" Camila frowned.
"I'm gonna wash up and change. I'll be back before you know it" Lauren chuckled.
"Oh okay"
"Camz"
"Huh?"
"You're still holding my hand" Lauren whispered.
"Oh sorry" Camila let go and looked down embarassed.
"Don't miss me too much!" Lauren yelled before stepping out the door.
