Chapter 6: Realization
Quenji's POV.
Months had past, Katrina and I have been getting a long often, napapansin ko ang sarili kong hinahanap ang presensya niya.
Katrina is very bubbly, she's not hard to get along with, she makes me smile, laugh, she was there for me, I just.. can't understand myself now.
"Hey, you okay?" I get back in my senses when katrina snap her finger in front of my face.
"What were you thinking?" She worriedly asked.
"Nothing, let's go" I grab her hand palabas ng classroom, on the way sa cafeteria.
Nag seperate table ako sa mga kaibigan ko, I wanna eat alone with her, I feel strange sa mga inaakto ko the past weeks.
I just find myself wanting her presence everyday. It pissed me off whenever she's not around. ewan, ang gulo ko.
I ordered food as we went inside the cafeteria.
"I'm happy!" I glance at her while I'm mixing my pasta and sauce, I didn't answer, I just let her talk again.
"Being with you makes me happy. I just love you very much now, please don't hurt me" natigilan ako sa sinabi niya, binaba ko ang fork ko tsaka tinginan siya.
I stared at her, she's just smiling at me while biting her sandwich.
Those eyes, those smile, fuck, I feel guilty.
hindi ba dapat masaya ako? kase I feel like I'm winning the game for making fun of her, hindi ba dapat nae-excite ako na konting panahon nalang matatapos na din ito?
But that's not how it feel.
"I can still remember the first time I met you! super scary mo that day, and I admit I had a crush on you kahit na I just met you palang that day" She chuckled, I pinch her cheeks because of how cute she was, she giggled as I do that.
Ngunit napangiti ako nang maalala ang sinabi niya, naalala ko kung gaano ko siya sinusungitan noon.
"I also remember noong sinamahan moko mag watch nang concert ng BTS! you badly wanna go home na non because you're bored while-"
"While you were enjoying and won't give me any attention?" She laughed so hard as I said that, Nagtampo ako sakaniya noon dahil hindi niya ko pinapansin, it feels like I wasn't there at all.
But I'm the one who bought the VIP ticket for her, she is a huge fan, I wanted to make her happy that's why.
"Oo! tapos nag tampo ka pa kaya after concert tinreat kita nang Ice cream! At least bumawi ako ah"
she defended herself, I smiled at her.
yes bumawi siya noon, pero kahit hindi na, nagpapa cute lang akong mag tampo pero naiintindihan ko naman kung bakit hindi niya ako gaano pinapansin during the concert.
"Kase I asked for Ice cream! pero kung hindi, hindi mo naman ako ililibre talaga!" I pouted, umaktong nagtatampo pa din.
"Wow ah! bakit parang kasalanan ko pa diba?" we both laughed remembering what happen the past months, pero natahimik din kami agad.
"What if, Masaktan kita" I asked out of nowhere, nagulat siya sa tanong ko, kahit ako, hindi malaman saan nanggaling iyon.
"Syempre, masakit yon noh aha" She smiled at me and bite her sandwich.
"Will you forgive me?" I asked again, hoping she will said yes, knowing I have done horrible things towards her.
"It depends, kung sa anong paraan, pero I do believe that, kung pumasok ka sa isang relasyon, hindi puro butterflies lang, dapat handa ka din na masaktan, sa darkness, the thing is, who will you choose to survive that darkness" I stared at her after she said that, nakatingin lang siya sa harap niya.
"Nakaka distorbo ba ako?" Sabay kami napatingin ni katrina sa boses na yon, si jacob.
"Ah kat, pahiram si quen ah hehe" ngumiti si katrina bago tumango.
Tumayo na rin ako para sundan si jacob, ngumiti muna ako kay katrina bago tuluyan umalis, sinundan ko lang si jacob hanggang sa huminto siya sa parking lot, sumandal sa pinaka malapit na kotse na nakita niya, I did the same sa harap naman niya.
"Yosi pre?" Jacob offer me the box of cigarettes his holding, umiling ako kaya itinago niya yon.
"Hindi ka?" I asked, kase nag offer siya akala ko magy-yosi siya.
"Ayoko, nakakahiya naman sayo e" sabay kaming natawa tsaka napailing "hindi joke lang, gusto kong ihinto" nangunot ang noo kong tinignan siya nang may tanong sa isip, nahulaan naman niya agad yon.
"Kaya meron akong dala, for emergency purposes" sabay ulit kami ulit natawa, gago talaga.
"Let's cut the deal" I said nang sandali kaming natahimik.
"Don't tell me?"
"Wag ka ng mag tanong tanginaka!" Sinamaan ko sya ng tingin kasabay naman ang pag tawa niya.
"Tinamaan pa nga HAHAHA" jacob continue laughing, "Akalain mo yun pre? Nahanapan pa kita ng jowa HAHAHAHA" I raise my brows at him, he just continue laughing, but stop when I hand him something.
"What is this?" I hand him the cheque, since the deal ends here, he smiled when he realize what is it.
Tinapik ni jacob ang braso ko bago tuluyan umalis, sandali pa akong nanatili doon bago bumalik sa campus.
I stop walking nang mapatingin ako sa field na natatanaw dito sa corridor, napakunot ako nang noo nang matanaw ko ang pamilyar na mukha.
"Fuck" I curse when I suddenly realize who was it, I bit my lower lips kausap niya si jacob na nakaupo sa bench.
"Bey!" Gulat akong napa harap kay katrina nang biglang sumulpot sa harapan ko.
"H-hey" I look at her normally "I'm about to get back there sa cafeteria, you done eating?" I tried not to look suspecious baka mang hinala siyang na bother bigla.
"Ah yeah, are you okay?" she worriedly asked, tumango lang ako then I asked her to grab ice cream, she nodded and smiled, agad ko siyang hinila papaalis doon.
Jacob POV.
I'm currently walking on my way to the field, malapit lang naman sya sa parking lot kung saan ako galing, V and justine is playing there, makikinood lang ako.
Quen just cut our deal today. tinamaan na nga siya, I just shook my head, hiding my smile, masaya naman ako para sakaniya.
I admit, I felt guilty for what I did, I feel sorry for her too.
I sat on the bench and opened some random chips besides me, not even asking kung kanino yun, my view suddenly block, someone is standing in front of me. I look straight at her, my eyes wided when I just realize who was it.
"Irish?"
"Why you look so nervous?" She rolled her eyes and wave her hand to serve it as a fan "Gosh! why so init?" She look at me irritated.
"Anong ginagawa mo dito?" I asked while smiling ackwardly, we all know she transferred from another university.
"I'm here because of my man, where is he?" She asked looking around, she must be portraying to quenji.
I tried looking around until I saw quenji walking towards the corridor "Yun oh" tinuro ko si quenji, nanlaki pa yung mata ko nang biglang sumulpot si katrina.
tangina sumpa yata toh.
"Who is she?" She sounded mad, I panic a bit, didn't know what to say
"Yow! oh Irish nandito ka?" napahinga ako ng maluwag nang dumating si justine, kakatapos lang mag laro, sumunod naman si V
"Bakit naman ang sama mo makatingin?" Sinundan ni justine ang direksyon kung saan siya nakatingin pagkatapos tanungin iyon
"I'm asking you, who is she?" Mas dumiin ang tanong nito, magsasalita na sana ako nang sumabat bigla si justine
"Ah si quenji tsaka si kat? Nako wag ka mag alala, hindi man siniseryoso si quenji yan. Alam mo yon? Nag dare lang syang utuin yan hehe" napasapo ako nang noo when he said that, tangina nito ni justine, V pouted and drink his water
"Lol, okay" Matapos sabihin yan ay umalis na siya kasama ang mga kaibigan nito, masama ko naman tinignan itong si justine na hindi ma preno ang bibig
"Tanginamo talaga!" Sinapok ko si justine "Lagot ka kay quen" justine looks confused for what I've said, hindi ko na siya pinansin at napakamot nalang ng ulo
