Farrah's POV
After helping Jackson finish his homework, Ramona and I ran down the stairs after him to try and convince DJ to let Jackson go to a party.
"Mom, I finished my homework. So, can I go?" Jackson begged
"Yes, you can. You can go. Where are you going?" Dj asked, confused as to what he was asking for in the first place
"Our kids are going to their first high school party." Kimmy cheered
"Party? Whose house is it? Will there be parents? How many kids?" Dj interrogated
"Will there be a theme?" Kimmy asked, making me laugh, "What? I'm a party planner. I'm always looking for new ideas to steal."
"Guys, it's not even a party. It's a bunch of ninth graders playing Mario Kart." I insisted, really wanting to go to a party with my two best friends
"Should I hook them up to the lie detector, Mom?" Max asked
"I don't need a lie detector. I'm a mother. Okay, home by ten, cell phones on at all times, and make good choices." DJ decided
"And if a theme breaks out, let me know." Kimmy said
"Bye!" We all said, cheering and rushing out the door
The excitement of the party only lasted a couple of hours, and others seemed to enjoy it more than others.
By some, I meant Jackson. The exact reason the three of us were in Fernando's car ,after he picked us up from the party.
"Thank God you guys are okay." Fernando sighed, tightening his grip in the steering wheel
"We are." Ramona said
"Me too, Formando, Fromindo, Fernindo." Jackson slurred, falling into my lap, as I pat his head like a dog
"Jackson, it appears to me your are drunk as a stunk." Fernando said
"What gave you that idea?" I asked, sarcastically, sitting Jackson upright while he smiled like an idiot
"Don't you mean skunk?" Ramona asked
"No, stunk. Eduardo Stunk was our town drunk." Fernando said, "How did this happen?"
"Jackson's an idiot. That's what happened." I sighed, a bit upset he had ruined the fun for Ramona and I
"Dad, we were just hanging, playing video games, and then every senior jock showed up with beers and was chanting, 'yo, grab a beer, Golden Toe." Ramona imitated
"Golden Toe!" Jackson cheered, thrusting his fist into the air
I sighed and pushed him further away from me, hating the smell of his breath at the moment, and trying to keep myself from laughing at his behavior.
"Pretty..." Jackson giggled, poking my face gently with his finger
"Pretty.." He repeated, but this time he poked my boob.
"Jackson!" I gasped, punching him in the arm as I finally let out a laugh
"I understand peer pressure is very powerful, but you have to make good choices. To be clear, this was weak and a bad choice." Fernando spoke
"Couldn't agree more." I snorted, as Jackson clung to my waist like a child.
"DJ is going to be furious." Fernando continued
"Oh. Please don't tell my mom. I've learned my lesson, Formando." Jackson giggled, nuzzling himself deeper into my side
"You are putting me in a terrible position and butchering my name, Jackson. You're a good kid. You're a Fuller. You should know better than this." Fernando sighed
Jackson sighed and leaned against my shoulder, as I pat his leg comfortingly.
"Papa, didn't you always say that it's better to call an adult rather than getting into a car with some drunk kid?" Ramona asked
"I hate it when you use my own parenting against me." Fernando said
A couple minutes later, Fernando and I were holding Jackson up as Ramona led us into the house through the front door.
We back tracked as soon as we saw the women on the couch helping Kimmy, quickly changing our course to the backdoor of the kitchen.
"I'm gonna get a drink." We heard DJ say
We all ducked behind the kitchen counter and waited for her to leave. Once she left, we drug Jackson's drunk butt up the stairs.
___________
The next day, I was sitting next to Jackson as he lay on his bed, holding his head in pain as he finally felt the effect of his decisions of last night.
When someone knocked loudly on the door, making him groan and me laugh, as I blew on the nail polish on my finger nails
"Eh, I hope you feel better than you look." Ramona sighed, coming in and shutting the door behind her
"Can you please stop spinning my bed?" He asked, making Ramona roll her eyes
"Nope!" I yelled, directly in his ear, making him hit me in the arm
"I feel like I got off a Tilt A Whirl after eating a churro dipped in clam sauce." He groaned, while I continued to focus on my nails
"You were really out of control last night. You ran around naked." I joked
"I did what?" He yelled, sitting up, before grabbing his head in pain
"Okay, you didn't. But that was only because me and Ramona dragged you out of there." I laughed
"What was I supposed to do? You saw them. The whole football team was chanting, "Chug, chug, chug." Jackson groaned
"And I was chanting 'no, no, no." I imitating, enjoying joking with the hungover teen
"I should've just walked away." Jackson groaned, as I gave in and gently rubbed his arm
"Hey, don't beat yourself up." Ramona said
"Now, I gotta lie to my mom. If she finds out, she's gonna ground me, like dig a hole and bury me under ground. And I need the sun. I have seasonal sadness." Jackson complained
He lifted himself into a sitting position, turning his head towards me, "Help me walk down the stairs?"
"Come on you big baby. But just so you know, as soon as I see DJ, I'm checking out." I admitted, helping him down the hallway, despite him not really needing it
"I can't trust him ever again." Jackson and I heard DJ say as we made it down the living room stairs
"I'm sorry. It's just everyone on the team was yelling, chug, chug, chug, Golden Toe." Jackson started, hoping to get his confession over with quickly
"Jackson, stop." I gasped, trying to get him to shut up after I saw Ramona making 'stop' motions
"I chugged a beer. Or two, which is a lot less than... everyone else had." He said, soon realizing what Ramona was trying to do
"Oh, God." I groaned
"You drank beer?" Dj yelled, standing up from her spot on the couch
"No, no. He chugged. Weren't you listening?" Steph asked, a small smirk on her face
"I can't believe you were drinking." Dj sighed, disappointed in her eldest son's decisions
"Uh, Fernando didn't tell you?" Jackson asked
"And now you've dragged Fernando under the bus." I groaned, again.
"Fernando knew?" Dj asked
"Uh, Yeah. He picked us up at the party." Jackson admitted
"He wanted to tell you, but Jackson begged him not to. Plus, my dad took really good care of him." Ramona spoke up, fairly defending her father
"Farrah, you were supposed to watch him. What happened?" Dj asked
"Mom, don't blame her. It was my fault. I was stupid." Jackson said
I thought what he did was stupid, but I wasn't going to let DJ be so harsh on him about a mistake most teenagers make.
"Oh, I am so disappointed in you, Jackson. This is exactly what I thought when you started hanging out with those older football players." Dj said
"Mom, my head is pounding, so, please, if you're gonna yell at me, yell at me quietly." Jackson begged
"I'll deal with you later." Dj yelled
"Okay.." He groaned, moving to get coffee from the kitchen
"Fernando. Fernando?" Dj asked, looking around for the other victim of her yelling
"Fernando can leave a room discreetly." Kimmy said
____________
Steph followed us into the kitchen, hoping to teach Jackson her secrets to dealing with hangovers
"Okay, so, in the future, here's what you're gonna do." Steph began
"I'm gonna be in the future?" Jackson gasped, making me laugh
"Maybe you just shouldn't drink." I said
"Focus, Marty McFly. You wake up, you're hungover, you're gonna put on some sunglasses, hightail to Denny's and get a pot of coffee." Steph continued
"That'll cure the pounding headache?" Jackson asked
"Well, it'll help, but mostly, you'll not be stuck at home talking to your mom." Steph smirked, as Dj walked in.
"Good luck, Jackson." Steph said, as I got up to quickly follow her out
"Uh, Uh. You're staying here. I want you to hear this." Dj snapped, making me pause in my spot, while Steph gave me an apology smile before running off
"This is your fault." I said, pointing to Jackson who raised his hands in surrender
"Here it is, Jackson. Sit down. I can't discipline you when one of you is taller than me." Dj said, pointing at the kitchen table
They went to sit down, and I tried to make a run for it, creeping towards to kitchen door as quietly as I could.
"Farrah." Dj spoke, again stopping me in my spot
"Fine." I sighed, plopping down in a chair next to Jackson
"You're grounded for two weeks. And no cellphone, no Fortnite, no devices, nothing. I trusted you, you betrayed my trust, It's gonna take a while to earn it back," DJ began, before she turned to face me, "You're lucky you have a girlfriend like Farrah, who's always going to have your back."
Jackson nodded in agreement, and grabbed my hand as she continued, while I still thought about leaving, "Jackson, I'm not naive. I was a teenager, too. Well, Stephanie was. I just have to ask. Why did you call Fernando and not me?"
"Honestly.. I didn't wanna disappoint you." Jackson admitted
"Well, unfortunately you did. Look, I know that there are gonna be certain guy issues that you're not gonna feel comfortable talking to me about, but that doesn't excuse the fact that you made a very poor choice." Dj said
"I know, Mom, I know." He said
"You cannot be drinking at your age. It's illegal, and it's dangerous. I know it's gonna be hard for you because your friends will be doing it, but I expect you to be stronger than that. And I'm telling you these things because I love you. Okay? And I want you to live a very long life." Dj finished
I slightly rolled my eyes at her quilt-tripping speech. Yes, drinking can be dangerous as teenagers, but if done responsibly its not going to destroy his life.
I had no personal interest in drinking, and I knew the consequences, but I wasn't going to make him feel like crap for it.
"I love you, too, Mom." Jackson smiled, as they hugged, "Hey, uh, I know I'm grounded, but can we go to Denny's?" "
"Denny's? Why?" Dj asked
"Oh, well, Steph said it was the best hangover cure." Jackson shrugged
"Did She now? Stephanie!" Dj yelled, walking out of the kitchen.
___________
After their talk, Jackson and I went upstairs, and I gently rubbed his back while he slept and I scrolled through Netflix for something to watch
"Hey." Dj quietly greeted, coming to sit on the bed
"Hi." I smiled, turning off my phone to look at her
"You know, everything I said earlier applies to you too. I know you're parents aren't here, and you might feel like you have no one to talk to, but just remember there are three women in this house that you can always talk to." She offered
"Thanks, Dj." I smiled, genuinely grateful for any kind of parental support
She nodded and left, while I sighed and laid my head on top of Jackson's before beginning a movie
