*Flashback*
Alex's POV
I hold onto Riley as her head tilted back I began sobbing and so did Zac and Nick it was hard to believe she was dead and that one of our own killed her. Zac uses his strength and he gets up and pulls Nick along with him then he lifts me up too but he doesn't lift up Riley.
"Zac wait what a-about Riley.?" I said
'We can't just leave her here.?" said Nick
"We can't lift her you can barley walk,Nick could barley stand and my arms broken." he said
"We can't just leave her here! She's one of our own!" I said holding onto my rib cage in pain
"What are we going to do Alex!? Who knows how long we'll be out h-" before he could finish I interrupted him and said
"If it was you I would carry you for a thousand miles even in my condition, I wouldn't leave you out here in this damn dessert to rot don't do that to Riley because I know she would never do that to you." I said he looks at me and his eyes showed sympathy he nods his head and says
"I'm sorry..We'll carry her for as long as it takes.. she needs to come home to be layed to rest.." he said I nod my head and he carries her over his shoulder and Zac carries her off. We knew we needed to find help soon Nick is diabetic and he needs his medicine if he doesn't get help soon he'll fall into a diabetic coma and for me I knew that if I didn't get help very soon that I would die from all the blood that I'm losing.
Zac's POV
I carry Riley on my shoulder as we began to use all of our strength to make it out of this desert alive Nick is limping and he's trying to fix the phone Alex gave him to call evac since it was destroyed during the fall. I look over at Alex and I can tell she was in a lot of pain her leg and arm were bleeding bad I walk closer to her and I help her walk I see her face and she's turning pale
"Alex I think we need to stop please you're over working yourself." I said worried she groans and she says
"I'm f-fine Zac let's just keep going.." she said before she collapsed onto the floor yelping in pain
"Ahh! Fuck!" she said
"Alex C'mon look there's a little cave right there we need to rest, tomorrow when it's light out we can look for help..if you keep going like this you're going to die." I said worried
"A-alright." she said we all head to the dark cave and I gently set Riley down and I help Alex and Nick get inside, Once I get them inside Nick is still trying to fix the emergency phone but he gives up after he feels a little weak then he tells me
"Zac I don't know how long we're going to be out here but we both know that Alex and I don't have a lot of time..." he said
"Nick shut up don't talk that way..you're going to make it okay little brother please believe me when I say that."
"You've always looked out for me Zac ever since we were kids you were always there for me..I'm lucky to have you as my brother." he said with tears in his eyes
"I'm lucky to have you as my brother too Nick." I said he smiles at me and before he can say anything else I said
"Hey..shh get some rest okay save your energy you're going to need it while we're out tomorrow." I said he nods his head and closes his eyes. I look behind me and I notice Alex was still awake she was looking at the cieling and she was breathing heavily I crawl to her and I see her eyes getting heavy and her lips a little pale she looks at me and she says
"Zac.."
'Yeah Alex.?"
"I need you to do me a favor." she said
"Yeah Alex anything." I said
"If we don't get help-" she said before I cut her off
"No don't say that we're going to be alright." I said
"Zac...please listen to me...if I die I want you to go back home and make sure that bitch Stephanie pays for what she did.." she said
"I will she won;t get away with this." I said she looks at me and she's shivering then she says in a whispering tone
"Zac..can you hold me please I need you right now." she said I take off my combat Jacket and I put it on her then I gently grab her and hold her close to my chest. She rests her head on my chest and I gently rock her back and forth to relax her I look at her eyes and she looks back at mine and she says
"I don't want to d-die like this." she said
"Alex you're not gonna die okay I won't let that happen." I said
"Zac look at me I'm losing blood from 3 different places you can't prevent the inevitable." she said as tears fall from her eyes. I gently wipe them away and I said
"You may think that but I promise I'll keep you alive okay." I said she sniffles a little and she says
"There's so many things I haven't done that I always wanted to know felt like." she said
"Like what Alex.." I said
"To know what it's like to have a kid of my own, to walk down the aisle....to have my first kiss with guy I know it sounds stupid but I never kissed a guy I've only kissed girls.." she said I looked at her and I thought to myself for a second and I said in a low whispering tone
"Kiss..me" I said
"W-what.?" she said
"Let me be your first kiss.." I said she looks at me for a brief second and she gently puts her hand on my neck and I did the same to her as we gently lean in and our lips touch it was just a small peck but it was enough to make my heart pound hard.Once we let go I look into her eyes again they gently close as her head lies on my chest. I kissed her forehead and I held her closer to me keeping her warm. As she falls asleep in my arms I was determined to get the ones I care about out of here alive.
2 days later
Alex's POV
I have no idea how I'm even breathing I'm dehydrated and I'm starving Nick on the other hand is in worse shape than I am he can barley walk Zac gave him something to eat but it was very little but at least something to keep him going on longer. As we were walking further into the dusty sand trail I felt weak and before I knew it I had collapsed onto the floor I look over and Nick collapses too then I see Zac frantically try to keep Nick stable but he could barey keep his eyes open he grabs the evac phone and yells into it but I knew nobody would answer is call , I look over to the floor to see my boot and I see my hunting knife there I knew I didn't want to die slow and painful I wanted it to be quick and over with I grab the knife and I held it to my side and pressed it down and I yelled in horrible pain
"AHH FUCK!" I said sobbing I pulled the knife out and I dropped it next to me and before I knew it I see blood covering my side I look up at the sky and prepare for the worst then I hear Zac scream and say
"ALEX NO! WHY DID YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF!." He said sobbing
"I-I had to Zac for god sakes look at me...just let me die please I'm suffering too much" I pleaded with him
"But A-Alex what about Demi." he said on the verge of tears I bite my lip and let the tears fall
"T-Tell her and Jeremy I loved them..so much." I said as I felt my body go weaker
"O-okay I promise." he said he was on his knees and his face was facing mine I put my hand on his collar and I pulled it lower making his lips closer to mine and I said
"Zac kiss me one last time before I go but make it last." I said he looks at me and he kisses me our lips move in sync and before I could even respond my eyes shut and I heard the wind increasing and people yelling and I hear the sounds being muffled and soon I blacked out. Then I see a white light and a familiar voice
"Marley is that you.?"
*5 hours later* At Medical Evac Zone*
Alex's POV
I slowly open my eyes to see 3 I.V bags strapped onto me I look down and my leg,arm and hip is bandaged up and cleaned I hear someone walking towards me and when the tent flap opened I see a shirtless Zac with a bandage on his arm
"Oh Thank God You're Awake." he said
"What happened how did we get here.?" I said
"Nick fixed the emergency phone I kept calling evac but they could only hear me but I couldn't hear them I gave them our coordinates and they came in. I put pressure on your wounds and they took some of my blood to make up for the blood you lost you've been unconscious for 3 hours now but you flat lined once we got you into the helicopter but you were revived back by one of the officers and you were brought in here." he said
"How's Nick.?" I asked
"He's good they gave him his medicine and he's recovering now he suffered a broken leg while I suffered a broken arm but they said we should be going home in a couple days." he said
"Did you tell them.....Did you tell them about Stephanie.?" I said
"Yeah I did they said they're going to inform the base back in the states to send some officers to get her for desertion and attempted murder don't worry she won't get away."
"Good that bitch deserves what's coming to her next after what she did."
"Yeah she does Officer Cowley said it's okay for me to take you outside for a bit since it's now dark he said it'll be good for your leg to recover do you want to go.?" he said
"Yeah I think that's for the best but can you hold onto me while we go.?"
"Of course I will hold you I'm always going to help you okay." Zac said I smile and he helps me up and he helps me put on a blue shirt that I had there he puts on his shirt too and he lifts me up and walks me out. As were walking it was sprinkiling a little and my mind began to think and I couldn't stop thinking about our kiss it was stuck in my mind I couldn't stop thinking about it and I knew he felt the same
"Zac.?" I said
"Yeah Alex.?" he said
"About the kiss.. you know it was just a one time thing and I don't want us to feel awkward about it an-" I said before he interupted me
"Hey it's okay and no I don't find it awkward at all I'm just glad you could trust me with something like that." he said
"I do trust you a lot especially since you did save my life back there and I could never repay you for that."
"Don't worry about it Alex I know you would do the same for me but I just wanted to say one thing to you."
"Sure Zac what is it.?" I said
"Since your first kiss with me was during our worst moments I want to give you one last first kiss to make your first kiss perfect." he said it began raining hard and I look deep into his blue eyes and I lean in whispering close to him
"Okay but no matter what this stays between us okay.?"
"Okay I promise." he said he leans in and I do too and we kiss passionately as the rain drops it made our skin and hair wet, As the kiss got deeper we pulled closer to each other not letting go then I had to break away and he did the same. I smile and he smiles back then he carries me back into our tents and we fall asleep.
*End Of Flashback*
Still Alex's POV
I still think about that kiss ever since we came back I felt guilty about it but I soon got over it because it was a in the moment type of decision. I sat there waiting in the hospital waiting room hoping for any news then I hear the hospital doors slide open and I see a worried Zac and Nick walking in along with Wilmer, Zac and Nick run up to me and hug me and Nick says
"How is she.?" he said
"I don't know the doctors haven't told me anything yet I've been waiting her for 3 hours." I said
"Did they say anything else can you go in and be in there with her.?" Zac said
"No not yet at least but I'm staying here as long as it takes for her to get better." I said I look at Wilmer and I tell the guys to make themselves comfortable and I say to Wilmer
"Did you find anything on Stephanie.?" he said
"No she's nowhere to be found officers went to her house and found the place ransacked we don't know where she is at the moment but we have her picture all over the media so it won't be long until someoen recognizes her." he said
"Yeah thank you Wilmer for all your help." I said
"No problem Alex..look I'm going to check on Demi real fast and I'll come and get you okay.?"
"Okay I will but can I wait outside the room just in case." I said
"Sure c'mon let's go" Wilmer said
We walk inside the halls and we make it to Demi's room Wilmer closes the door as he walks in and I pray to God she's okay
Demi's POV
I hear monitors beeping and I hear the door close when I first blacked out I swear I saw Alex and heard her voice. I gently open my eyes and I see Wilmer with his head down and he was praying I look at my wrists and they we're bandaged I look at Wilmer and I say
"W-Wilmer ..." his head shot up and he rushes to my bed side
"Demi thank god you're okay how are you feeling.." he said
"Still sad because I don't have Alex with me I'm miserable without her and I wish I wasn't alive I lost her Wilmer and I can't get her back." I said sobbing I cover my eyes with my hands and I sob then I hear the door open and someone say
"You never lost me baby." I heard them say my head slowly went up and my eyes widened and I began crying tears of joy as Alex ran to my bed side and I wrapped my arms around her neck and kissed her
"Oh my god! you're here baby I can't believe it!" I said sobbing
"I said I'll be coming back for you baby I promised" she said
I held onto her not letting go I was finally happy with the girl I truly love as I held our necklaces together and she smiled at me as I held onto her because I missed her so much I finally have the missing part of me back in my life.
