Chapter Fifty-Three

The next day we had a lot to do, I didn't want to get married at a court house so we had to find a small venue and try to get all the family we could over here.

"Hey baby girl." My mom said when she answered the phone.

"I need you out here as soon as possible." I said

"Is everything okay?" she asked slowly

"I, uh, I'm getting married, on Saturday." I added, Aiden and I already went and requested the circitifcate

"Are you pregnant?" she asked sternly "You know you don't have to get married if you are, you can wait." She said and I rolled my eyes

"We had a pregnancy scare but the doctor assured me I am not pregnant." I told her

"Why so soon then?" she asked "When did he propose?" she asked me

"Last night and because we want to and I need you here."

"I'll be there hopefully tomorrow." She said and I squealed with delight

"Great, now to call the sister." I said

"Don't forget your father." She added and I frowned

"Mom, I'm trying to be happy right now, why did you have to rain on my parade?" I complained much like a two year old and she laughed

"Let me know how it goes, love you." and then she hung up on me. I called my sister and she would be here tonight and tomorrow we would go figure out a dress for her and I since she would be my maid of honor.

I called my dad and he was pissed to put it lightly and that conversation ended in a yelling match where he told me I was ruining my life and I told him that if he wanted to stay my father he would be at my wedding or he wouldn't have a daughter and hung up on him, I don't know if he's coming.

He was being stupid, he got married fast and she's his third wife!

I made some other calls and he looked at my grimly

"My parents are coming for dinner." He said and I went pale, his mother hates me for sure and I don't know about his dad. What if they told him they would cut him off if he married me? I couldn't ask him to make that choice.

"Oh." I said, another thing that wasn't good, they were coming here, we weren't going out. This probably means that they want privacy so they could kill me and replace me with Emily.

"It's going to be okay." He said and I groaned as we spent time cleaning and taking turns between showering and getting ready and cooking dinner, we had two and a half hours in notice and that made me angry, how dare they impose like this and probably to come over and say nothing but bad things on our upcoming marriage.

We had dinner ready when she showed up and his mother gave me a dirty look while his father remained passive. They exchanged pleasantries and we sat down for dinner in a very awkward silence. No one even made small talk and I wasn't going to be the one to break the silence at this point.

When we finished Aiden and I washed up dishes real quick and put dinner away before heading to the living room where they were waiting.

"What the hell are you thinking?" his mother started off and he looked at her passively, much like his father was, like she was a child and they were bored.

"I'm getting married Saturday and I would love it if you were there." he said and wrapped his arm around me

"You don't belong with someone like her, she's beneath you." Ouch, that hurt "Don't marry down." She crossed her arms

"Why not? Dad sure as hell did when he married you." he shot at her and my eyes widened but nothing compared to her

"If you marry her you will be cut off." She said simply and that was what I was afraid of right there.

"He most certainly will not be." His dad spoke and she looked at him surprised, like she was expecting to do all the talking and he would just agree with her.

"Yes he will, he belongs with Emily." She said and we all rolled her eyes

"I married you and you have absolutely no right to disrespect or sons fiancé because she isn't rich, I have put up with your bullshit long enough and I will not put up with it now." He said sternly

"Thank you." Aiden said

"Emily was only after our money, everyone but your mother could see that. I like her." he looked at me and I blushed and hid my face in Aiden's chest which made him chuckle and his dad smile in amusement

"Thank you." I mumbled

"Though I want a prenuptial agreement started tomorrow. That isn't up for discussion." Aiden went to protest and I put a hand on his arm and smiled at him

"That's fine." I said

"It makes it look like I don't trust you, like I think you're just out for money." He said to me and I shook my head

"No, it's smart and it's not like we'll need it unless you have a plan to divorce me." I said and he shook his head

"Of course not." He touched my face softly and I smiled at him

"Then it's not a big deal, we'll start on it tomorrow." I told his father and he nodded, his mother sat pouting on the couch and had nothing to say.

"I will make sure expenses for the wedding are covered. I recommend getting a dress and if any family needs to be flown in I'll take care of it." he said and my eyes widened

"No, you don't need to do that." I said

"You're about to be my daughter now, Chelsie. We take care of family." He told me and I nodded awkwardly

"Well thank you." I said shyly.

"Though I did hope for a big wedding, any chance of me talking you into one?" he asked and I shrugged

"We're getting married on Saturday." I said and he nodded

"Aiden told us. Well if you ever want a big wedding down the road then we're more than happy to arrange that." He said and I nodded

"Thanks dad." Aiden said and his mother still said nothing, she wasn't pleased in the slightest.

"May I have a word with my new daughter?" he asked and I looked at Aiden skeptically and he nodded so I stood and he followed me over to the balcony and we made sure to shut the door.

"What can I do for you?" I asked

"Aiden told me he was going to propose a month ago, this isn't a surprise for me nor was it for is mother. I'm sorry about her and I'm sorry she keeps bringing up Emily. Aiden also told me what he did a couple weeks ago, I'm glad you could forgive him."

"You two are close." I stated

"Yes, he's very open with me about his life." I started choking and he patted my back

"Not too open I hope." I said and he chuckled and shook his head

"Private details are private but I do know about the pregnancy scare." He looked over at me and I sighed, I didn't know he told his father about all of it, I didn't even tell my mom.

"He was a lot calmer than I was about it all." I looked out at the lights of the city.

"I know, he will make a wonderful father one day."

"Yeah he will; we're just too young right now."

"When it happens it will all be alright." He said to me and this was a little weird, I've met his dad once and we were having this conversation.

"But he'll have no time the next few years."

"Residency can be brutal but it could be worse, he could want to be a surgeon." I nodded

"So you're okay with us getting married?" I asked him and he smiled lovingly at me, the way my father did when we were still close.

"You're a sweet girl and my son loves you very much. I don't think you're like Emily, I hope you understand that the prenup is just part of who we are and when your child gets married he or she will need one too."

"I understand and I don't mind."

"Good and ignore Eliza, she'll come around."

"I hope so. I don't like that my future mother-in-law hates me."

"She doesn't hate you Chelsie, just give her some time to accept it, give her time to get to know you and she'll love you."

"Is this why you brought me out here?" I asked and he shrugged

"Yes and for this." he pulled out his wallet and handed me a card "Use it for any wedding expenses. Anything you need, I just didn't need Eliza freaking out about it." I put the card in my pocket and nodded.

"Thank you. My mother will be here tomorrow and my sister should be here in about an hour or so. Would you guys like to go to dinner with us tomorrow?" I asked him and he smiled

"We would love to; his sister will be in town tomorrow for the rest of the week as well."

"I haven't heard much about her." I admitted

"He doesn't talk much about himself, never really has." I looked at is curiously

"Why are you being so nice about all of this, aren't you going to lecture us that it's too fast and if we love each other we still will a year from now?" I asked, that's the kind of speech I got from my father, and then of course telling me I was stupid for rushing it.

"No, I know my son and I trust his decisions, I would like to see more of you two though, I'd like to get to know my new daughter." He told me and I smiled because for once today someone wasn't against us. My mother was coming but she wasn't exactly happy about it and my sister is confused and not happy I'm getting married before her.

Who knows who else will show up.

"If you need more space Aiden has a key to the guest house, they're more than welcome to stay there." he offered

"I'm sure it's just going to be my mom and sister, we can have them here but thank you." we decided to go back in and Aiden was in a discussion with his mother, she didn't look happy still but she also didn't look as bitter as she did before.

"Chelsie's sister will be here shortly, we should get going and give them the time they need to catch up." His father said and his mom nodded

"I'll see you soon." She tried to give me a smile and his father gave us both a hug goodbye while his mom stood off to the side and watched me, it was a little creepy really.

"See, it wasn't so bad." he said when they left and I sighed

"Your dad wasn't, your mother though." I trailed off, I didn't want to disrespect her or say anything bad about her.

"She'll get used to it." he shrugged like his father did about her.

We got about twenty minutes to relax before my sister was knocking on the door with her fiancé in toe

"You are fucking insane, you know that right!" she declared as soon as I opened the door and proceeded to throw her arms around me for a big hug

"I know. Mom will be here in the morning."

"I know, her and Liam are both coming." Liam was mom's boyfriend

"And how's my future brother?" I asked as Thomas came into the room behind me grinning like an idiot, they've been together for what feels like forever and are getting married next year, I was right and he asked her when mom came for Christmas.

"Great now that I get to see my favorite sister." He hugged me and spun me around

"You only have brothers, I'm your only sister." I said and he shrugged after he put me down.

"You're my favorite, don't tell them. Now where is this boy I have to give the big brother talk to since your bio brothers sure as hell aren't going to?"

"I don't even think they're coming." I shrugged and Aiden came over

"No surprise there." my sister, Leneigh  said

"I don't think dad is either." I said and she gave me those sympathetic eyes that I didn't want

"Don't do that." I accused

"I know how much it meant to you." she hugged me and I refused to cry

"It doesn't matter. Aiden, you remember my sister Leneigh and this is her fiancé, Thomas." He didn't get to meet Thomas but he met mom and sister.

"Let's go have a little talk, shall we?" Thomas asked as he led Aiden away and he had a smirk on his face which caused me to roll my eyes

"Well time to catch up." She said excitedly and I laughed, I missed my sister.
