It wasn't long before Elijah and Megan found Klaus, he was walking in an abandon area with a bottle of hard liquor at hand. He seemed rather sad and depressed and the expression on his face made Megan feel for him. With Klaus' personality he likes to take charge and when things are out of his' control he lashes out, aggressively.
Elijah and Megan were walking behind him.
"Have I not made clear my desire to be left alone?" Klaus scolded.
" Oh, you demand to be left alone at least once a decade. Your words have ceased to have impact." Elijah retorted and at this Klaus' anger had risen and threw the bottle to the ground.
" Why must you keep harping on about the baby? That child will never be born. In fact, Hayley is probably dead already." Klaus shouted. Elijah seemed angered with what Klaus said and vamp speeds to Klaus and held his brother's throat.
"You will not walk away from this!" Elijah threatened. Meanwhile Megan was watching in the sidelines like some kind of a regular occurrence, which in reality, was.
"Let Me Go" Klaus shouted.
"I Will Not" Elijah shouted matching the same voice of Klaus.
In this moment, Megan came in between them her hands on their chest to stop them from trying to kill each other and draw more attention to the place.
"Would you both just stop for one second?" She ordered.
"Don't make me say it again." Klaus growled still trying to kill Elijah.
"I will not let go. I will never let go." Elijah declared.
"Enough!" Megan screamed
But the two men still tried to get out of her grip to beat the other brother. They kept shouting and screaming at each other, she had enough of the foolishness. She started to partially shift her hands which were connected to their bodies where now on fire and burnt the clothes and skin of both brothers causing them to hiss in pain.
"I told you both to stop" She seethed. Then looks directly to Klaus.
"You may not realize it but that child, will one day be great, she will become the best of us" she informed
"What do you mean?" Elijah asked
"The night before we left Eleusis, the night you gave me my choice to stay or go, I had somewhat of a vision. I heard a heartbeat and I felt power, some power I haven't felt before and I feel the same with Klaus' child." she confessed to Elijah
"And Klaus, my grandmother told me to protect that child and that's a lot coming from her. I don't care if you see this child as useless, but to me she already means something and you must realize this child can bring you hope, hope to finally be in a family where you are loved and to love. Don't turn your back on this child, you'll be doing worse than Mikael, at least that man raised you." Megan scolded Klaus, knowing she struck a nerve when she mentioned Mikael.
Klaus doesn't day anything instead he left the building and left Megan and Elijah alone. Soon after, the two followed after Klaus to see him sitting in one of the benches that littered the park. Megan sat at the middle of the bench with Elijah to her right.
"This town was my home once, and in my absence, Marcel has gotten everything that I ever wanted. Power, loyalty, family. I made him in my image, and he has bettered me. I want what he has. I want it back. I wanna be king." Klaus exclaimed
"So is that all this child means to you? A grab for power? " Megan inquired.
"What does it mean to you? to the both of you ?" Klaus questioned
"Something more than what we are, something that goes far beyond us. I want this child to have a family, a home because all of us here never really had a good one" Megan explained
"What of you, Elijah?" Klaus asked
" I think this child could offer you the one thing that you've never believed you had." Elijah started
" And what's that?"Klaus prodded.
"The unconditional love of family." Elijah continued
"Tell Sophie Deveraux that we have a deal" Klaus stated
That night Hayley was surrendered to the custody of Megan and Elijah. They brought her to the plantation house they were staying at. Where she would spend her time while pregnant, protected by the Mikaelsons and a determined witch.
Megan was helping Hayley dust off the old things that litter the house, one of which was a crib, which Hayley pulled the top of and started coughing.
" Are you alright?" Megan asked concerned.
"Just dust. This place is ancient." Hayley answered.
"Yes, it should serve our purposes. It's a sanctuary from Elijah's business in the Quarter. Right now, you are the most important person in their family. You need a good home. So I'm curious... in all this time, has anyone asked you how you feel?" Megan questioned
"About having a miracle baby with a psychotic one-night-stand?" Hayley retorted.
"About being a mother." Megan chuckled
"I – I was abandoned when I was born and my adoptive parents kicked me out the second that I turned into a wolf. So... I don't really know how I feel about being a mother because I... I never really had a good one." Hayley confessed.
"I'll help you, I've always wanted to mother" Megan stated.
"You can't ?" Hayley inquired
"I can but I always believe that having a child is such a intimate thing that should only be done with a partner who also want the same, not some one night stand who will leave you the next day, no offence" Megan explained.
"None taken" Hayley grinned.
"It seems the two of you is getting along just fine" Klaus said entering the room with Elijah behind him, who walked further to stand beside Megan, while Klaus stayed on the door frame.
" Is it done? " Elijah asked.
" As a matter of fact, yes. Megan's underhanded deal worked quite well. Marcel was only too happy to accept my blood even as he accepted my heartfelt apologies. His man, Thierry, yet lives and I remain a welcome guest in the French Quarter. My only concern now is this coven of impudent witches." Klaus affirmed
"I believe them to be honorable. They did release Hayley to us. Although, they haven't been entirely forthcoming. Marcel obviously has something that they need. They don't want him dead. There must be a reason why. " Elijah informed.
"Well while the two of you talk about a battle strategy we'll be out to buy some food in the market. Someone has to make sure Hayley eats well." Megan remarked, grasping Hayley's hand and walking with her out the door before anyone could say otherwise.
The two brothers moved their conversation to a different part of the house, where they could speak.
" In addition to the secret weapon he uses to control the witches, Marcel has assembled a small army of vampires. Working together, we can destroy them from the inside." Elijah told.
" And what of Rebekah? Has she stopped her pouting long enough to join the fun?" Klaus inquired while walking around the table.
"She has made her disinterest quite clear." Elijah stated whilst Klaus bent down to grab a bottle of liquor pouring himself a drink.
"One too many times daggered and shoved in a box, I gather? Or perhaps she doesn't share your unwavering belief that I can be saved."Klaus joked
"Rebekah may surprise us yet. After all, we all swore the same vow." Elijah beckoned and Klaus drank from his' drink.
"I hope she stays far away. Because in my desire to reclaim this town, to steal from Marcel that which he holds most dear, I have realized one massive vulnerability. One weakness that Marcel could exploit. " Klaus said standing at Elijah's side.
"And what is that?" Elijah probed.
"You" Klaus stated while plunging a silver dagger into Elijah's heart, making his' skin turn gray and dark veins appeared crawling from his' body towards his' face. While Elijah was groaning in pain.
"Forgive me, my brother. There is no power in love. Mercy makes you weak. Family makes you weak. If I am going to win this war, I have to do it alone. " Klaus whispered into his' brothers ear before cradling Elijah's body in his' arms.
