"Sophie! It's time to sleep sweetie!"
I walk into the living room.
"Come on mom! Just give me ten minutes more! I'm about to finish this level."
"Have you finished your homework?"
"Yes, I have finished it."
"Okay. You only have ten minutes more."
"Thanks mom!"
I exit the living room and enter the kitchen.
"Aaron?! Are you eating ice cream?"
He puts the bowl of ice cream on the table and turns around in one swift motion.
"No, I'm not."
I walk over to him.
"Then what's that behind your back?"
"N... nothing."
I pick up the ice cream bowl from behind his back.
"Come on Aaron. We have been married for twenty years now. You still think I don't know you?"
"No Sarah. I just didn't expect that you'd walk in on me."
I take a bite of ice scream from the bowl.
"I knew that you'd be in the kitchen eating ice cream."
"So, what's Sophie doing?"
"She's playing a game. She asked me to give her ten minutes so she could finish the level."
"Well, you can't blame her. I mean we used to play games when we were at her age too."
"Yeah, a lot of games."
"You should probably get her in bed now. She has college tomorrow."
"Yeah you're right."
I exit the kitchen and enter the living room.
"Come on sweetie. Time to sleep."
"Okay mom."
We go upstairs and enter the bedroom. She lies on the bed and I sit right next to her.
"Mom?"
"Yeah?"
"I think that a guy in my class likes me."
"Really?"
"Yeah. What should I do?"
"Well, do you like him?"
"Yeah."
"Well, then you should just tell him."
"Okay. I will."
"By the way, when is aunt Hope coming to visit us?"
"She is coming to visit us this Saturday."
"Really?"
"Yeah. And she said that she wants a rematch in Mario Kart."
"She'll lose again!"
I turn around to see Aaron standing while leaning at the door.
"Can you tell me a story mom?"
I turn back to face her.
"Story? Which story?"
"Well, you never told me your story mom."
"My story?"
"Yeah, how did you and dad meet each other?"
I look at Aaron and smile. He starts smiling as well.
"Go ahead. Tell her the story Sarah."
I look back at Sophie.
"Do you really want to listen to my story?"
"Yes."
"Okay, so my story begins when I move to New York..."
