"So about knots...."

Se Ju had the decency to blush. "What do you want to know?"

It's a little past elven. Randall and little Blue had left hours ago and Se Ju had stayed in their stead. Michel and Gabriel were still with Erik, doing what? Cobie doesn't know. He had taken the time ot research an ask as much questions as possible.

"It just swells and locks you there? With your mate?"

Se Ju scratched the back of his neck. "Not lock per say. Linked is the right word to use. It's happens when every part of our body is in tune, in sync. Your head and your heart. It only happens between Alphas and Omegas, Sometimes Alphas and Betas, as well as true mates."

Cobie looks back at the book in his hand. Thankfully, there weren't drawn or printed images in it. The author had described it, had really gone into detail about it.

"So it can happen if you aren't real mates?"

"What do you mean?" Se Ju asks.

"Erik and I feel the pull. We both know we are mates. What about people who don't feel the pull, who just fall in love or something?"

"Like I said, it just about finding the right person. Unlike you and Erik, other wolves date. Just like the humans, we date until we find the right person. The one person that makes you decide to settle down. If sex occurs before the mating ritual, the knot doesn't happen."

"So it's regular sex when dating but once you are marked, boom! Knots everywhere?" Cobie asked, his eyes wide in awe.

Se Ju couldn't help but chuckle. "Yeah, something like that."

"Is that what happened between you and Randall?" Cobie blurts out before he could stop himself. Se Ju stared at him with wide eyes. The Alpha stands up from the chair like he had been burnt and practically ran out of the room. Cobie stared at the space where the doctor was, his mouth opened a little in surprise.

Yeah, maybe he shouldn't have asked that.

He closed the book he was reading, Amongst Wolves, and placed it on the bedside table. He gets off the bed and made his way to the bathroom to wash his face. When he was done, he changed into a pair of pyjama bottoms and a loose white shirt. He switched off the lights and made his way to the bed.

Tomorrow was the full moon.

He had never spent the full moon with wolves before and was kinda excited about it. He pulls his phone out from underneath the duvet and pressed the home button. He had a new message.

From Unknown: See you soon. –c.

--

Like every other day, Cobie wakes up and stretched on the bed. He smacks his lips as he made his way towards the bathroom. He brushed his teeth, had his bath and walked out of the bathroom. He almost had a heart attack when he sees Gabriel on his bed.

"Good morning." he greets as he holds the towel around his waist tightly.

"Morning." the Omega says with a yawn.

"Today's the full moon, aren't you meant to be more excited?" Cobie asked as he made his way towards the closet. He grabbed a pair of sweatpants and a shirt. He pulls them on quickly as Gabriel falls back onto the bed with a sigh.

"There's a strain."

"What?"

"There's a strain in the bond with Erik. He isn't doing well and we are feeling it." Gabriel says, pushing his hands into his hair.

"If I'm with him, it should be okay." Cobie said as he made his way towards the bed. a brief glance at his phone tells him it was ten minutes past nine. He takes a seat on the bed and gives Gabriel a reassuring smile. "Just a few hours."

The need to see Erik had doubled this morning and it felt a itch he couldn't scratch. Even if it was just a peep, he would be satisfied with it.

"Se Ju and the other Alphas and Elders are making a decision as we speak." Gabriel says, his words slurring a little.

"You didn't get to sleep last night, did you?"

"I did, for a couple of hours at least but then Erik start to howl.  So...yeah."

"Why don't you sleep and I'll pop down for breakfast and a quick read." Cobie says, gesturing to the book on his bedside table. Gabriel gives him a grateful smile that Cobie returns. Just like he had said, Cobie grabbed his book and made his way downstairs. The house was quiet, there was no one walking about and Cobie wonders if it's because of the strain, just like Gabriel had said.

He quickly makes himself toast and tea, stacks them onto a tray and takes it to the sun room. The room was painted white, large pots of plants were at each corner of the room, the floor to ceiling windows, let the sunlight in and bounce off the wall, giving the room a soft gold glow. He takes a seat on one of the many green couches and continued reading.

He spends the whole morning with his head buried in the book. He doesn't look up until he got to the last page in the book. Just as he snaps the book close, Michel walk into the sun room.

"Hey." Cobie says with a small wave.

"Hey, Cobie." Michel says as he takes a seat beside him. "We need to talk."

"Yeah, I guess."

"Gabriel told me, he told you about my meeting with the Alphas and Elders." Michel says as he ran his hand through his curls. "It's not safe leaving you alone with him. He could accidentally mark you."

"I know."

"There's no turning back if he does. Do you get that?" Michel asks, staring at Cobie. "You become our Luna."

"I know." Cobie repeats.

Yes, the thought scared the crap out of him. Being with Erik, meant leading thousands of people. The thing is, he wouldn't be doing it alone. He would have Erik, Gabriel, Se Ju, Michel, Randall and the Elders. For the first time in years, he's letting go. He's letting go of his fears and just reaching out. Hoping Erik would catch him as he falls.

"We are going to let you see him."

Cobie perks up at that, the smile on his face so bright, Michel had to lean back a little.

"He's so uncomfortable, we can feel it in our bond and it's making everyone uneasy. Normally, he'd spend his rut with people but he has you. The only reason we separated you both was because you haven't been marked yet and none of us were a hundred percent sure you really knew what was at stake."

"I know I wouldn't be able to be difficult to push him off if he gets ... you know." Cobie starts. "If he marks me during this, it's okay. I'm going to stay right by his side, right by you all."

Michel's eyes go wide and his jaw drops. If it had been any other time, Cobie would have laughed.

"He's my mate, Michel. If it happens, then it just happens sooner than planned." Cobie says with what he hopes is a reassuring smile. "I promise you, I know what I'm getting into. You all made me welcome here, made me feel safe enough to be here. If I do get marked, I'll make sure to be the Luna you need."

Michel doesn't say anything else. He just stared at Cobie for a beat before pulling him into a hug.  The beta tucks his face into Cobie's neck and breathe him in and the vet just gives him a pat on the back.

--

"Aetos would stand guard somewhere in the building. He's the only one who won't feel the pull of the moon." Michel says as they walk up the stairs.

"Aetos is still here?" Cobie asked, a little shocked. He hadn't seen the vampire since he had brought Alpha Kaye's decapitated head.

"He's been staying with the Elders. He needed advice on a few things." Michel says just as they got to the top of the stairs. Cobie nods. That explained a couple of things. Now they were at the top of the stairs, Cobie became hyper aware that it was just a couple of steps and a door that separated him from Erik.

"You can always change your mind." Michel says as they walk closer to Erik's door.

Despite his nerves, Cobie shook his head. "I'm fine. You all should have a great time though, run and have as much fun as you want."

Michel gives him a smile that calms Cobie down a little. Cobie gives him a smile in return before turning to the door, he take a couple of deep breathe before pushing open the door. He closes the door immediately he's in.

In the blink of an eyes, he's pushed and hoisted up against up the door. Cobie instinctively wrapped his legs around Erik's waist as the Alpha pulls him into a bruising kiss. Erik licks into his mouth, tasting and licking. Cobie kisses back with as much vigour, his hands finding their way into Erik's hair.

Cobie pulls back with a gasp, his head falling onto the door. He looks down at Erik and shivers when he finds a pair of red eyes staring at him. He lets out a loud gasp as he's moved from the door and thrown onto the bed.

"Precious..." Erik groans as he crawls up the bed, moving between Cobie's open legs.

"Peaches." Cobie says, his voice coming out hoarse and deep,

Erik stops at the name, he blinks a couple of time but his eyes still remain red. Cobie noticed this and sits up a little.

"Baby...." Cobie says again as he stared at Erik who was staring at him with this look of hunger on his face. Erik finally moves a few seconds later. The Alpha pulls Cobie closer and kisses him without warning. Cobie wraps his legs around Erik's waist. Everything was going fast, t turns filthy when Erik grinds down, the friction too good to be good.

Cobie pulls back a couple of minutes later for air. Erik trails kisses down his neck, sucking and nipping. Tingles were shooting up Cobie's body as Erik's hands found their way up his shirt.  It was all happening so fast. Cobie hadn't known what he had been expecting but this was something else. The fear was trickling in as Erik began to suck a mark on his neck. Sweat began to bed on his forehead, his heart going a mile a minute.

Cobie placed his hands on Erik's shoulder and tried to push but the Alpha wouldn't budge. Panic began to settle in and he doesn't know what to do. In a last effort, he opens his mouth and screams.

"AETOS!"

Just like Michel had promised, the vampire appeared as soon as the Cobie screamed. He burst in through the doors and promptly ripped Erik off Cobie. Aetos hadn't come alone and had brought a couple of pack warriors who helped him off the bed while Aetos held onto Erik. Cobie pointed his gaze to the floor as he ran out of the room. Tears were pooling in his eyes as he made his way to his room. When he was in, he closed his windows and pulled the curtains close.

He slid to the floor and finally let go. His shoulders shake as he sobs.

He had been so sure he was ready, he had been so sure he would have handled Erik well. He wonders what the pack members would be thinking. He wonders if they would think he was weak and not suitable for Erik.

The thing is, Cobie really doesn't want anything to happen by accident. He wants to talk to Erik, wants to tell him everything before giving him his body. He wants to tell Erik everything and hear what the Alpha would say in return. He didn't want anything to happen by accident because, what if Erik regrets it when he sobers up? What if it wasn't actually something Erik himself wanted. The Alpha hadn't said anything about mating, even after the Elders had brought it up. That must mean something.

He's pulled out of his thoughts by a light knock on the door. He doesn't get up to answer it though and just hoped the person would go away. He gets up from his position against the wall and made his way to his bed, he grabbed his earphones and slid under the duvet. He puts on his earphones and scrolled though the songs on his phone. He picks Bastille's World Gone Mad and settles onto his pillow.

Cobie wondered what was happening in Erik's room. Maybe he should tell Michel to get either Quinten, Destinee or Kerry. They had spent Erik's rut with him before. The thought was actually painful and was causing a new wave of tears but Erik needed something. Something Cobie couldn't give while Erik was in that state.

Cobie winced as he thought of Michel. He had told the Beta a lot of things and yet he had failed. He had promised he knew what he was getting to and he truly does, it's just, when it was close to becoming an actuality, he began to freak out.

The song changed to Florence + the Machine's How Big, How Blue, How beautiful. Cobie turned onto his side and stared at the curtains. Though he had pulled them all closed, the room was still a little light. Cobie just stares at the walls as he let his thoughts go deeper, before he knows it his eyes were dropping shut.

"Soon you'll break. Soon you'll be mine." The Alpha growls.  He was standing close to Cobie's cage, a manic glint in his eyes, the light reflecting off his bald head.

"Never 'appen." Cobie grounds out, his throat aching a little as he spoke.

The Alpha just grins like he was hiding a secret, something Cobie didn't know. Something that would turn his world upside down. Cobie takes a couple of step back as the Alpha walked closer to the cage, his heart hammering with fear as the Alpha's eyes turn red.

"If you let me touch you, I will give you a clue." The Alpha grins and it sends a chill down Cobie's back. The cage was small, there was nowhere else to run to, if the Alpha wanted to touch him there was no escaping it. Cobie does want to know what the Alpha has to say but he was rooted in the fear that he couldn't move from where he was leaning against the back of the cage.

"I'll take your silence as a definite yes."

"No." Cobie says, wincing when his voice came out as a whimper.

"Too late, small one." The Alpha snarls as he gripped the cage tight.

Cobie sits up fast, his heart racing in terror. His body shook from the memory and what he had learnt afterwards. He pushed the duvet off him and got off the bed. He made his way into the bathroom, pulling off his clothes as he went. He gets into the shower and turns on the hot shower, his body sagging with relief when the water touches his skin.

He grabs the bath gel and began to lather his skin. His head felt lighter, he felt like he could breathe easier. The events of the day felt like it had happened years ago, not just mere hours ago. Cobie ends up staying in the bathroom for a while before coming out. He pulls on a sweater and a pair of jeans before walking over to the window, the sky was dark and the moon was up, it's silvery-white light giving everything it touched a soft glow. A brief glance at his clock tells him it was almost nine-thirty.

He wondered what the wolves were doing. How Erik was doing. He gets his reply when he hears a loud squeal and the children rush out, pulling off their clothes as they went. The older wolves behind them, patiently watching to make sure no one gets hurt in anyway. From his window, Cobie watched as the kids body began to contort in odd manners before they drop onto their paws, fur lining their skin and a dark snout.  They looked adorable.

The older wolves were not far behind. Randall was the first person to change. Just as his friend was pulling off his clothes, Cobie averted his eyes and watched the kids instead. He couldn't help but smile when a large wolf made it's way towards the children and Cobie could only guess it was Randall. The number of wolves increase and so do the pile of clothes and soon standing in the yard were a lot of wolves, twenty at most.  He wondered why the wolves of the Silver Moon pack were this huge, he wondered what made them so special. Was it the so called prophecy? These wolves easily towered Michel who had just come out then. Michel himself was a six foot four giant in his human form and watching him shift from that to a wolf who was much bigger was slightly terrifying.

Cobie had done his research last night and this morning and the average size of a wolf was at best five foot nine, yet the wolves of Astir were destroying that limit. They were huge, their eyes wide their fangs sharp.

Is this what Erik was going to turn into too? The Alpha had told him he thinks his wolf was coming out or awakened, Cobie wasn't sure which. Michel has literally told him, Erik got his fangs for the first time yesterday. Adding all that together, that meant Erik was slowly shifting. From what Erik had told him and from what Cobie saw that day the Berserkers attacked, Erik couldn't shift, he couldn't turn. So something must have changed.

Cobie hurried to the bed and grabbed his phone where it was tangle with his earphones. He rips out the ear phones, pressed the home button and heads straight for the browser. He types Wolves Prophecy and hits the search button. According to site, there were about 2.1 million hits. He scrolls through the first results until a line catches his eyes.

One of colour. One of shall.

Without hesitation he clicks on the link and the first line he sees were written in what the author called old script.

On the last light of the last moon of the fourth month, two halves would beest born.

One of colour and one of shall.

On the last night of the last moon of the fourth month halves shalt beest madeth whole.

On the first light of the last moon of the sixth month, the lady shalt be appeased and all would be Rectifi'd, halves won't feeleth exsufflicate, halves would beest madeth whole.

Cobie frowned as he read the words over, trying to decipher it. Thankfully there was a paraphrased version just below it.

On the last light of the last moon of the fourth month, two halves would be born.

One of colour and one of will.

On the last night of the last moon of the fourth month halves would be made whole.

On the first light of the last moon of the sixth month, she shall be appeased and all would be rectified, halves won't feel empty, halves would be made whole.

This was the prophecy the Elders were talking about, this was the prophecy that Alpha had been talking about. A lot of people have called him the one of colour whenever they see his eyes. They think he's the one from the prophecy. And he has to be doesn't he? Otherwise, how does he explain how he's Erik's mate.

Everything was coming together, fitting like puzzle pieces.

He and Erik were born on the same day, April 30th which according to a quick internet search was the last moon of April. That day had been the day he had called Erik mine. The day he had claimed Erik, same day they had worn matching clothes. After that day, it felt like something had strengthened their bond, to Cobie he felt closer to Erik than before. Is that the line of the prophecy meant when it said On the last night of the last moon of the fourth month halves shalt beest madeth whole?

Cobie drops his phone onto the bed and made his way back to the window. He remembers his mother telling him everything happens for a reason. There's an explanation for everything. The prophecy explains him and Erik being mates. What does this mean for the other wolves in the different parts of the world? What does this mean for him?

Cobie is snapped out of his thoughts by a loud howl. He leans against the window pane and lifts his head, his eyes turning gold as he looks up at the moon, letting it's soft light bathe his skin.
