(Elizabeth's POV)

I woke up to a deafening ringing noise. I quickly shot up, covering my ears before realising it was just my alarm clock. Why was it so fucking loud? Trying to shut it up, I hit the alarm clock, annoyed by the device.

As my hand connected with the alarm, it shattered into pieces. "What the fuck?" I exclaimed out loud. As I got out of bed to clean the shards of plastic, I suddenly realised something different. It was like something was missing. That's when I noticed something else. I was cold. I was extremely cold. But I felt no discomfort.

Shrugging it off as shock from last night, I cleaned the floor. I then looked at my curtains. Maybe the sun will warm me up? As I opened them, a painful burning sensation flooded my body. As if I was on fire. Instinctively I jumped backwards, but the speed in which I did was strange. It was as if in a millisecond I had gone from standing by the window to my bedroom door. How did I get so far, so fast? Fuck that, why did my skin feel like it was on fire? I inspected myself to see if I had any burns. Nothing. Last night really shit me up.

Still paranoid, I walked around the sunlight beams and tried to get ready. I did the usual of putting on my makeup, doing my hair and getting changed. I put on my mum's ring, a plain white top and my Chelsea jacket. I placed my football and kit in my gym bag. As I started to leave my room, I felt normal. Warm and as if what was missing before had returned.

As I went downstairs I noticed Scott waiting for me. Walking up to him, I smelt something strange. This is gonna sound weird but it smelt like wet dog. Did Melissa get a dog without telling us? Scott walked outside to leave for school. He looked at me confused as I hesitantly stood at the door. I slowly placed my hand outside. Nothing, strange. I'm probably just loosing my sanity. I walked out and we both go into my car.

***

I drove into the school car park and I parked us in nicely. We got out and I got our bags from the boot, passing Scott his bag. As he sorted out his Lacross gear, a silver Porsche drove right up to him and the door bashed into Scott. The school's resident rich arsehole got out and stared Scott down. "Dude... watch the paint job. Or your little girlfriend will have to pay for a respray, since she's the one who can actually afford a car". I glared at him as his friend called him over. As he walked off I shouted "Wanker!" at him. He just turned back and smirked, "You offering?" I stuck my middle finger at him as strutted away. I Hate that prick so much.

Stiles walked from his Jeep to us. "Okay, let's see this thing." Scott pulled up his t-shirt and revealed the bandage. "Ooh!" Stiles excitedly exclaimed. He tried to touch the bandage. "Yeah, Whoa!"

I just smacked Stiles' arm in response. He fell to the ground, clutching his arm. "Owww, jeez, I know you're like an ultimate socc... err football player but since when did you get that strong?" I just laughed at him. "You're just a wimp."

Laughing at Stiles' broken masculinity, Scott decided to change the subject. "It was too dark to see much, but we're both pretty sure it was a wolf." the three of us continued to walk up to school. "A wolf bit you, Scott?" He looked over to Stiles and nodded. "No, not a chance." I just shrugged at stiles. "We both heard a wolf howling. It was clear as day," I stated.

Stiles shrugged. "No, you didn't." Scott scoffed. "What do you mean, no, we didn't? How do you know what we heard? We both heard it" Stiles just laughed at us, "Because California doesn't have wolves, okay?" Realisation hit me.

"Oh, like Britain. We hunted them to extinction." His hand gestured agreement towards me. "Correct, there haven't been wolves here for a while. Not in like 60 years." Stiles turned to Scott as Scott looked at him defeated. "Really?" Stiles started to get slightly frustrated at Scott, "Yes, really. There are no wolves in California."

Scott stood there in thought so I decided to spike Stiles' interest with Scott's discovery in the woods. "All right then Stiles. If you don't believe us about the wolf then fuck knows how you're gonna believe us when I say that Scott found, well fell on, the other half of the body." I smirked knowing Stiles was even more intrigued.

"Are you kidding me?" he asked, a bit too excited than he should've been. "No, man, I wish. I'm gonna have nightmares for a month." I turned to Scott with my eyebrow arched. "How do you think I feel? I can't watch Bambi ever again" Stiles just got even more excited "Oh, god, that is freakin' awesome."

Scott just looked confused "What? Liz not watching Bambi?" Stiles just stared at him, as if Scott was the dumbest person ever. "No dumb-ass, the body. You gotta admit, this is seriously gonna be the best thing that's happened to this town since-" Sties turned his head towards the red headed girl walking past. "Since the birth of Lydia Martin. Hey, Lydia... You look..." she just continued to walk without even paying any attention to his existence. "Like you're gonna ignore me." Lydia is a right cow.

He turned to me and Scott and huffed. "You two are the cause of this, you know." I cocked my eyebrow "Really?" he pointed at Scott before stating "You're Draggin' me down to your nerd depths. I'm a nerd by association" He then pointed at me. "And your sporty, gym crap are scaring away hot girls like Lydia." I just stuck two fingers at him. Being friends with me for so long, he knew that was an offensive hand gesture in Britain. It's one that's fun to use in america since non of the teachers understand it. To them, it's just a strange version of the peace sign. The bell went off and the three of us walked inside.

***

We sat down in class as everyone barely listened to the teacher talking. Stile sat on my left with Scott behind him. "As you all know, there indeed was a body found in the woods last night." I looked over to Scott and Stiles who were both smirking. I rolled my eyes at them and turned back to the teacher. "And I am sure your eager little minds are coming up with various macabre scenarios to what happened. But I am here to tell you that the police have a suspect in custody," I turned back to Scott and Stiles who both wore the same confused look. "which means you can give your undivided attention to the syllabus which is on your desk outlining this semester."

Suddenly a sharp ringing noise filled my ears. Covering them with my hands, I looked around for the source. I saw Scott was acting similar, although he didn't look as pained as me by the noise. The pain stopped and I heard the most amazing voice ever.

"Mom, three calls on my first day is a little overdoing it." I looked over to the window and I was suddenly breathless. I saw that the angelic voice had came from a girl outside. Not just any girl, but probably the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. I was confused as to why I could hear her from outside but I didn't care. I was glad I could.

In the corner of my eye, I saw Scott watching me looking at the girl and he looked confused. I don't know how I'm capable of focusing on both her and Scott. I heard what I guess is her mum asking if she had everything. "Everything except a pen. Oh, my God, I didn't actually forget a pen. Okay, okay. I gotta go. Love ya." I heard footsteps as the headmaster walked up to her. "Sorry to keep you waiting. So you were saying San Francisco isn't where you grew up?" They started walking into the school. I could still hear their every word. Her every word. "No, but we lived there for more than a year, which is unusual in my family." I followed her words as she moved. I could sense Scott following too. Eyes switching from both me to the two talking. "Well, hopefully Beacon Hills will be your last stop for a while."

They walked up until they were just outside the class. They walked in and I saw her face just as clear as I could outside. Again, I'm not sure how. She was still as breath takingly beautiful as she was outside. "Class, this is our new student, Allison Argent". She shyly avoided everyone's eyes. I could hear her heart beating nervously. I couldn't help but smile at her.

As her heartbeat rose, I for some reason started staring at her neck. I could see each vein pumping blood. She started to walk to the only empty seat in the room. Luckily, it was next to mine. The millisecond she sat down, I turned to her with one of my spare pens readily waiting for her. She slightly jumped before realising I was offering her a pen. She smiled at me, "thanks". I smiled back at her, putting a strand of my blonde hair behind my ear. "We'll begin with Kafka's Metamorphosis, on p..." I tuned out the teacher as I just dreamily listened to Allison's comforting heartbeat. Noticing it rise as she looked at the back of my head. What is this girl doing to me?

***

I opened my locker and got out my secret stash of sweets, Munching on the bag of Haribo's as I watched Allison walk up to her locker. Scott, standing next to me, looked over to her before looking back at me confused. Stiles was just oblivious.

Allison spotted me staring at her intently. She smiled. Even from here I could hear her heart rise. I smiled back at her, noticing another spike in her heartbeat. However, I heard the devil's heels walking up to Allison. "That jacket is absolutely killer. Where'd you get it?"

Allison turned to Lydia slightly nervous. "My mom was a buyer for a boutique back in San Francisco." this interested Lydia more. "And you are my new best friend". I don't know why I felt jealous, but I did.

I've never really had a crush on a girl before. To be honest, I've never really had a crush full stop. Boys have always been like my brother to me or a complete twat. And I was always scared to be around girls since I was worried they'd all be like Lydia. There's just something different about Allison.

Jackson walked over to the two and grabbed Lydia into a kiss. I looked away, grossed out. That's when some random girl decided to talk to the three of us. "Can someone tell me how new girl is here all of five minutes, and she's already hanging out with Lydia's clique?"

I glared at her, feeling like I have to defend Allison. "It's because she's fit. Someone as gorgeous as her is just destined to be popular." Stiles just nodded at me in agreement. "Liz is right. In her own British way. Beautiful people herd together."

I sent another glare at this bitchy girl. My eyes met hers as I felt a weird sensation with in them. "If you don't like it you cow. Piss off." The girl suddenly snapped out of what looked like a trance as she walked off, zombie like. "That was weird" Stiles commented as Scott, again, looked at me confused. Clearly not understanding why I defended Allison.

I focused on Allison's conversation once again. "So, this weekend, there's a party." Scott looked over to the three, as if hearing their words. "A party?" Jackson answered her, "Yeah... Friday night. You should come." I heard Allison's heart beat getting erratic as she responded. "Uh, I can't. It's family night this Friday. Thanks for asking."

Stiles finally noticed me watching Allison. "You sure? I mean, everyone's going after the scrimmage." Jackson couldn't stop pushing. "You mean like football?" I know she means the American version but I still enjoyed the way she said it. "Football's a joke in Beacon. More than Soccer, and only one idiot cares about that." I clenched my fist angrily as heard Jackson shit talk me. However, I found myself wanting to rip his head off because he seemed to intimidate Allison, based on her heartbeat, not because of the comment about me. Scott seemed to glare at Jackson too.

Jackson then clarified what he meant, "The sport here is lacrosse. We've won the state championship for the past three years." Lydia put her arms around him. "Because of a certain team captain." He looked smug. "Well, we have practice in a few minutes. That is, if you don't have anywhere else-" I can see she doesn't want to go. "Well, I was going to-" Lydia cut her of before she could refuse. "Perfect... You're coming." She dragged Jackson and Allison away. As she did, Allison looked back at me, Smiling. As she did, I noticed her heart rate calmed down. She seemed more comfortable when she looked at me. But that could just be me hoping.

***

I ran next to Stiles and Scott, in their Lacrosse gear. Me in my Footie kit, holding my football. I know I'm here for the two idiots next to me but I get bored easily so I always train my foot work when they practise. "But if you play... I'll have no one to talk to on the bench. Especially with Beckham here focusing on her questionable relationship with a ball." I just stuck up my two fingers at Stiles. He let out a quick laugh then turned to Scott. Still out of breath. "Are you really gonna do that to your best friend?" Scott just replied to him, "I can't sit out again. My whole life is sitting on the sidelines. This season, I make first line." I ignored their ranting as I sensed something familiar. Allison.

I saw the gorgeous brunette walking on to the bench with Lydia. Allison smiled when she noticed me. I couldn't help but grin like a mad woman. Idecided to start doing some keepy-upies to show off a little. "McCall!" the coach called out while walking to us. "Yeah?". He threw some gear at him. "You're on goal." Scott accidently dropped his own gear. "I've never played." Scott stated.

"I know - scoring some shots will give the boys a confidence boost. It's a first day back thing." He wacked Scott's arm "Get 'em energized, fired up!" Scott looked hurt. "What about me?" Coach didn't even care that Scott was hurt, "Try not to take any in the face." To cement how much of a twat he was, the coach lightly slapped Scott's face. Coach turned to me. "English, what I tell you about kick that during practice?"I just looked up to him, "I don't really know, perhaps if you started using my name instead of my home country, I would listen more." He glared at me, "Don't get cocky English. Besides, I can't pronounce your name". I just glared at him in return as he turned around. "Let's go! Come on!"

While Scott go into the goal, I continued to work on my ball skills. I'm surprised I haven't drop the ball by now, since I kept looking over at Allison, smiling. I just seemed to know where the ball was even when I couldn't see it. As I started to do more complicated tricks, I heard Allison begin to speak. "Who is that?" Lydia looked over at Scott, thinking she mean Scott. "Him? I'm not sure who he is.". Scott seemed to hear that, looking over at them.

Allison just laughed slightly at her mistake, "No, her," she pointed at me. Scott's eyes seemed to follow her gaze to me. Lydia just scoffed. "Oh her. That's the sweaty girl. She's obsessed with Soccer." I just gritted my teeth at her comment. I felt a sharp pain to my top teeth as I did this but my ball still didn't touch the ground. "Why?" Lydia asked Allison. "She's in my English class." even while I was focusing on my tricks, I still heard Allison's heartbeat rise a little.

The sound of a whistle rang in my ears. Pain rushed in them, causing me to loose concentration. My ball dropped but I managed to catch it after the ringing in my ear stopped. I noticed Scott was also affected.

A player threw a ball at the unaware Scott. It connected with his helmet, sending him flying. Bloody hell, that's got to hurt. Everyone started laughing at Scott. I just scowled them as I restarted my tricks. I glanced over to Scott just as he caught a ball. The surprise almost made me drop my ball. But I didn't.

Still doing my tricks, I watched Scott catch ball after ball after ball. I felt pride for my best friend. That doesn't mean it wasn't weird though. I heard Lydia talking to Allison. "Why aren't you watching the game?"

"Sorry, I was watching her doing those Soccer tricks. She's really good at them." I grinned at her comment. Not even caring that she said Soccer. Just the fact that she'd been distracted by me was an amazing feeling. I think I'm fancying this girl more and more each second. "Moving on to Lacrosse though, that guy on goal is very good." I looked over to Scott and noticed him catch another ball. I just yelled back "YES SCOTT!" he seemed to grin when I cheered him on. seemingly pumping him up.

Jackson pushed through the players and seemingly wanted to humiliate Scott. Someone's feeling intimidated. They both eyed each other. He ran towards Scott, lobbing his ball at him. It seemed to be no match for Scott, who just caught it with ease. I just cheered at him. I could hear Stiles having some sort of mental breakdown on the bench.

I looked over to Lydia confused as she was cheering on Scott. I then realised she was trying to make Jackson jealous. My eyes glided over to Allison who was watching me. For once in my life, I felt shy. I slyly smiled, trying to hide my red face. She just grinned at me more. As I looked over to Scott, he did a trick with the ball, throwing it into the Ref's net. It was almost as if he was trying to show off to me. My eyes just glanced back at Allison, smiling once more at her. I just want to snog her so bad.

***

Me, Scott and Stiles ran through the woods. Jumping in a small stream. "I don't know what it was. It was like I had all the time in the world to catch the ball. And that's not the only weird thing. I can... hear stuff I shouldn't be able to hear. Smell things." Stiles looked at Scott curiously. "Smell things? Like what?"

Scott took a quite sniff before stating "Like mint mojito gum in your pocket." Stiles shuck his head, "I don't even have any mint mojito-" he looked into his pocket. Pulling out the mint Scott said he had. Scott just raised his hand to enforce his point.

I just looked at Scott, "Something's happening to me as well." They both looked over to me. "I can hear so many things. Things I couldn't hear before. People's heart beats from across the field. I can even sense things around me that I'm not even looking at." Stiles' eyes widened as he looked at me. "That explains what I saw. When you were watching Scott play, you still kept the ball off the ground. It was if you knew exactly where the ball was gonna be. Even you was never that good before."

"That's not all. This might be just shock from last night but this moring, when I opened the curtains. My skin felt like it was on fire." I huffed. "Plus I keep smelling this sort of wet dog smell." Stiles thought for a moment before we continued. "

So all of this started with" he pointed at Scott. "You getting a bite," he then pointed at me "and you getting knocked on your ass, feeling like you died." We just nodded. "What if it's like an infection, like my body's flooding with adrenaline before I go into shock or something? And what if Liz caught it?" Stiles just looked at us and said "You know what? I actually think I've heard of this- It's a specific kind of infection." we stopped in our tracks and turned to Stiles. "Are you serious?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I think it's called lycanthropy." I face palmed so hard at that. Scott then said the most dumbest thing I've heard him say. "What's that? Is it bad?" We need to have a talk about his lack of understanding of Stiles' sarcasm. "Oh, yeah, it's the worst. but only once a month." Scott, still not getting the sarcasm continued it. "Once a month?" Stiles just hummed in confirmation. This is so painful to watch. "On the night of a full moon." He howled to add effect. "But I wouldn't worry about it affecting Liz, because she seems to have caught a virus known as Vampirism." I'm gonna kill him.

Scott, finally caught on to the Sarcasm. He pushed Stiles back as he laughed. "Hey, you're the one who heard a wolf howling."

I just scoffed at him. "And what about the vampire joke. Since when was I the one who got bit?" He just laughed once more. "Because you said your skin was burning in the sun." I'm so close to punching him in the face "Stiles, I said 'felt like' and I'm in the sun right now. Do you see me burning?"

He just put his hands up in defence. "Wow, I was joking. Jeez" I just rolled my eyes at him. "hey, there could be something seriously wrong with me and Liz." Stiles just laughed again, still not giving up the joke. "I know! You're a werewolf! and she's a vampire!" he growled to add more emphasis to the joke. "Okay, like I said before. Obviously I'm kidding. But if you two see me in shop class sharpening a wooden stake and trying to melt all the silver I can find, It's 'cause Friday's a full moon. And I've watched enough Twilight to know when there's wolves, there's vamps." I just hit his arm. He fell to the floor once again. "And you're still denying the vampire stuff?" he smirked before getting up. I just stuck my middle finger up as we continued.

"No, I-I could have sworn this was it. I saw the body, the deer came running-" Stile smirked "Shoving Liz on her ass", I kicked him in the shin. "oww, why'd ya have to be such a good so-footballer?" I ignored him and nodded to Scott to continue. "The deer came running. I dropped my inhaler. Liz smashed her phone." Scott knelt down to where the body was.

"Maybe the killer moved the body." He looked down to the floor before looking up at us. "If he did, I hope he left my inhaler. Those things are like 80 bucks." I just snorted at the comment. I suddenly felt the presence of someone. I turned to see a strange, yet somewhat familiar, bloke standing near us. Watching us. He didn't even flinch when I turned around with a surprising amount of speed. Why does that keep happening.

I just called back to the oblivious idiots behind me. "Oi, divs." They turned to me then focused on the stranger. He walked over to us. "What are you doing here?... Huh?... This is private property." Stiles just nervously placed his hands in his pocket. I could hear his and Scott's heart rate beating nervously. "Uh, sorry, man, we didn't know." fuck, we're gonna get murdered aren't we? "Yeah, we were just looking for something, but... uh, forget it." The bloke just threw Scott his inhaler, which he caught with ease. The strange, broody man just looked over to me with what looked like pain in his eyes. Weird. he then turned around, walking off.

Scott turned to me. "After all of this, I don't feel like going to work. Can you cover for me?" I nodded. We started to walk off but was stopped by Stiles. "Dudes, that was Derek Hale." I froze in place. Unable to move. "You remember, right? He's only like a few years older than us."

Scott just glared at Stiles. Knowing how mentioning the Hales upset me. "Yes Stiles. I remember!" I swallowed hard, knowing what Scott didn't wanna say.

"His family died in the fire that..." a tear ran down my eye, "that killed my parents six years ago." Stiles realised his mistake and face palmed. "Oh god, I'm sorry Liz. I forgot that part." Scott pulled me into a hug. "You ok?" I just wiped the tears out of my eyes and pulled out of the hug. "I'm fine. Really." I looked back to where Derek went and tried to change the subject away from my parents. "So, I wonder why he's back in town." Stiles just smiled softly, "Come on".
