Santana's Point of View

"Santana, it's simple. You're just not trying hard enough." Blaine says to me as I bang my head down on the piano keys

"I'm too tired." I moan, with my face still pressed against the keys

"Yeah and so am I. Play it and I'll let you leave." Blaine says and I groan

I got here at seven and it's almost eleven. We've been working for almost four hours. He's right, though. It's not hard. I just don't wanna try anymore. My fingers are cramping up and my head hurts from hearing the same thing over and over again.

We've been working together for almost two weeks. I've never spent so much time with Blaine before. I wouldn't say this to his face but he's actually a really nice person and he's really patient with me.

I pick my head up and position my fingers on the key. I play Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and groan out of frustration when I hit the wrong key...again.

"Don't try to go so fast. Just take your time." Blaine says and I nod my head

I slow down a little bit and make it through the whole song without messing up. Blaine claps and I roll my eyes.

"You're better than I thought you would be. You're a really fast learner... when you apply yourself," Blaine says as he takes the sheet music away, "And you're actually committed to this. I thought you were gonna quit after two days."

"No, I really want this."

"I see. Do you have anything of your own that you wanna record?"

I look around to make sure Lady Hummel isn't listening to our conversation. We're the only ones in the living room.

"Don't tell anyone this, but I wrote a song." I whisper, completely embarrassed

"What?" He asks with a huge smile on his face, "Santana, that's amazing. Is it any good?"

"I don't know and I'm afraid to show it to anyone because what if it's trash."

"Well, what is it about?"

"It's about Britt and I before things got serious. I don't know. It's stupid."

Blaine shakes his head, "I'm sure it's not. Let me see it."

I pick my phone up and go into my notes. I press on the song lyrics and let out a deep breath.

"Shooting Star," Blaine says with a smile on his face, "Fancy."

"[Verse 1]
I was a bad girl, she was a good girl
I played with fire while she played inside the ring
I get so selfish and she was selfless
She played by books, I never liked to play it safe

[Pre-Chorus]
But she fell in love with my fucked up ways
With my drunken daze, yeah, she still stayed
Yeah, she fell in love with my twisted dreams
And all in between, and she'd still sing

[Chorus]
Baby, you're a shining star
I like you just like you are
Baby, you're a shining star
I like you just like you are

[Verse 2]
Head underwater, no one could save me
I played with death, I held my breath, I liked the pain
My world was crumbling, but I did nothing
I numbed myself so I would never feel a thing

[Pre-Chorus]
But she fell in love with my fucked up ways
With my drunken daze, yeah, she still stayed
Yeah, she fell in love with my twisted dreams
And all in between, and she'd still sing

[Chorus]
Baby, you're a shining star
I like you just like you are
Baby, you're a shining star
I like you just like you are

[Post-Chorus]
You know you'll always be my baby, don't cry
You know your crazy doesn't phase me, no lie
'Cause baby, you're a shining star
I like you just like you are"

[Outro Instrumental]

"Santana, this is really good," Blaine says as he hands me my phone back, "You need to show that to someone."

"You're just saying that."

"No, I'm being serious. Does Brittany know about it?" He asks and I shake my head

"I wanna share it but then I don't. I'm just confused about it."

"Understandable," Blaine says while nodding his head, "But, um, I have a song that I wrote and that nobody has ever heard because, like you, I wanna share it but I don't. And I think it's only fair that I share mine since you shared yours."

He pulls out a piece of paper and sits it in front of him. He positions his fingers on he keys and clears his throat.

NOT ALONE - LYRICS
"I've been alone
Surrounded by darkness
I've seen how heartless
The world can be

I've seen you crying
You felt like it's hopeless
I'll always do my best
To make you see

Baby, you're not alone
'Cause you're here with me
And nothing's ever gonna bring us down
'Cause nothing can keep me from lovin' you
And you know it's true
It don't matter what'll come to be
Our love is all we need to make it through...

Now I know it ain't easy
But it ain't hard trying
Everytime I see you smiling
And I feel you so close to me...
And you tell me:

Baby, you're not alone
'Cause you're here with me
And nothing's ever gonna bring us down
'Cause nothing can keep me from lovin' you
And you know it's true
It don't matter what'll come to be
Our love is all we need to make it through...

I still have trouble
I trip and stumble
Trying to make sense of things sometimes...

I look for reasons
But I don't need 'em
All I need is to look in your eyes
And I realize...

Baby, I'm not alone
'Cause you're here with me
And nothing's ever gonna take us down
'Cause nothing can keep me from lovin' you
And you know it's true
It don't matter what'll come to be
Our love is all we need to make it through...

Oh, 'cause you're here with me
And nothing's ever gonna bring us down
Cause nothing, nothing, nothing
Can keep me from lovin' you
And you know it's true
It don't matter what'll come to be
You know our love is all we need

Our love is all we need
To make it through..."

"That's fucking amazing." I say and we laugh at my choice of words

Blaine shrugs and continues to play on the piano, "It's yours if you want it."

I furrow my eyebrows, "No, no. I can't take that away from you."

"I'm not gonna be a recording artist, so I might as well give it to someone who is," Blaine says and he looks at me with a smile on his face, "No, but, seriously. It's yours if you want it. And now that I think about it, you would sound amazing."

"I can't just take it from you..."

"You're not taking it. Look at it as a late Christmas gift." Blaine says and I laugh

"Thanks Blaine, but I'll let you know," I look at the time on my phone and my eyes widen, "I gotta go. Brittany's gonna be home any minute."

"That's right. She's finally done with tour."

I nod and place a soft kiss on his cheek, "Thanks for today, Blaine. I'll talk to you later."

Blaine's song was really good, better than mine, but it's wrong to take it, right? Isn't that stealing. But I really do want the song. And then there's my song.

I didn't mean to write a song. I was just messing around one night and I really missed Brittany, and then boom! A song was made. I already know how I want the song to go and the type of vibe I want it to have.

I walk into the house as someone's leaving out. I'm so distracted by the music that I don't even acknowledge a fact that a girl just walked out. Brittany's in the kitchen and she looks shocked that I'm not mad.

"Hey," She says with a smile on her face before pressing her lips against mine, "Are you hungry? I got you a roll from that sushi place you like."

"No, but thanks." I say as I drop my keys into the bowl

"Tubbington hasn't touched his food that I set out for him and his more quiet than usual. How's he been doing?" Brittany asks and I look down at Lord Tubbington who's just laying on the floor

He has been acting strange lately.

"It's been taking him a minute." I say before walking to our bedroom

I take my pants off and replace my shirt with a hoodie that was just laying on the floor. I lay on my stomach and scroll through my Instagram feed.

"Since when do you turn down sushi?" Brittany asks as she walks in. She climbs on top of me and kisses my neck from the back. She stops when I don't give a reaction, "What's wrong? You usually love that."

"I'm sorry," I say and I place my phone down, "I have a lot on my mind."

"What's wrong?" She asks and she falls next to me on the bed

I let out a deep breath and look at her, "I wrote a song."

She smiles, "Just now or..."

"Three months ago." I say in a questionable tone

Her face gets serious and she holds her hand out, "Lemme see."

"It's dumb."

"That's what you always say and it's always the complete opposite."

I unlock my phone and go to the lyrics to the song. Brittany takes my phone from me and lays her head down on the pillow. I watch her eyes go from side to side as she reads the words.

"What's the problem? This song is really good." Brittany says and she gives me my phone back

"What if I show it to them and they reject me? You know I hate rejection."

"Not as much as you hate not taking chances," Brittany says and I roll my eyes because she's right, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."

"Who said that? Mr. Shue?"

She laughs, "Everyone knows that saying, but I'm pretty sure he did. Just show it to them. If they reject you then they can never say that you never tried anything yourself."

"Can you stop being so smart for one second?" I ask and she shakes her head

"I told you, I'm a genius in the field of Santana Lopez," she says before kissing me on the cheek, "How are things going with Blaine and the piano?"

"I knew it was gonna be hard but I didn't know that hard."

"When can I come see you play? I know you're really good with your fingers."

"Wanky." I say with a smile on my face. I press my lips on hers and the kiss deepens really quickly and a few minutes later I'm on top of her.

*

"I'm shitting my pants right now." I say to Blaine as we walk towards the front door of the recording studio

Today, Scooter and all the other musical people are meeting with me so that I can talk to them about my song. Blaine came along for emotional support and so that he can play the song he wrote if they don't like the one I wrote.

"It's fine." Blaine says

When we walk into the room, everyone stops talking and looks at Blaine and I.

There's Scooter, my manager, Chris the technician, and Caleb the engineer. I introduce them to Blaine before taking a seat on the couch. Blaine sits next to me and clears his throat. I look at him and roll my eyes.

"You know how we've been trying to find my sound?" I ask and they all nod, "Well, I think I found it."

"How?" Scooter asks

"I wrote a song." I say and I pull my phone out

"Homegirl can write music?" Caleb asks and Blaine nods his head

"A kick-ass song." Blaine says and I nudge him with my elbow

I hand my phone to Chris and he squints his eyes as he reads the lyrics. Once he's done, he passes it to Caleb and then Caleb passes it to Scooter who then hands it back to me. They talk through their facial expressions and, from what I can see, it's not good.

"You wrote this song?" Caleb asks and I nod my head, "Like, by yourself?"

"What do you guys think?" I ask, starting to feel a little discouraged

"Well," Blaine starts and we all look at him, "I think that first song you put out should be about you. The song should have guitars giving off a Spanish vibe since Santana is Hispanic and then the song is already about her and Britt so it's her telling the world she's...you know, out there,"

Caleb squints his eyes, "Do you have an idea about what the guitars should be playing?"

"Do you have a guitar?" Blaine asks and Scooter laughs

"Dude, it's a studio. Of course we have guitars." Scooter says and he hands Blaine one that was sitting in the corner.

Blaine messes around with the strings a little bit before getting it together. He nods his head and smiles when he plays a pattern.

"This can be that main guitar; the one you hear at first, and then..." Blaine changes the sound to something that's different but similar at the same time, "then this can be the music you hear behind it."

Chris nods his head, "I like it. Santana, do you like it?"

I smile, "I love it."

"Then let's get you two in the booth right now." Caleb says and I grab Blaine's hand

"Wait, me too?" He whispers to me

"Duh. You're stuck with me now."

*

"Britt," I say as I walk into the house, "You won't believe it. I showed them the song I wrote and they liked it, but then Blaine showed them what it would sound like the guitar and they loved it!" I walk into the living room and see Brittany sitting on the floor, "Hey, what's wrong?"

Brittany turns around and her eyes are red and her face is puffy. I feel a pinch in my heart and I furrow my eyebrows. I walk closer to her and see Lord Tubbington laying in front of her. He's not moving.

"Britt, what happened?"

"He's dead."

A/N

I didn't know what I was doing with this chapter. I wanted to introduce Santana and Blaine's relationship and introduce Santana making her own music. And then me being the depressing fuck I am had to include something sad.
