"Why does everyone laugh when I say loser?" I ask, rolling my eyes
"I'm not telling you" he smirks
"Argh, fudge off" I groan
Now
"Lex, could you get me these things from the grocery store?" Jay shouts from downstairs
I groan and walk downstairs, "why can't you do it yourself?" I groan
"Because I have a boys' night at Jake's"
"Okay then, but couldn't you have asked me earlier though? It's already dark outside" I sigh
"Sorry, I forgot. I have to go now. Are you fine being on your own? Seeing that Mason and Connor are at boys' night too and mom and Mark aren't home either. You can call Jade and ask her to come over if you want too" he smiles
"I'll be fine Jay, thanks. Have fun" I smile and he quickly leaves the house after saying goodbye.
30 minutes later and I decide that I really need to get these groceries for Jay. I pull on my shoes and jacket. I grab my wallet, phone and keys and walk outside.
I put my earphones in and listen to some music. I enter the small store and look at the shopping list.
Apples, strawberries, pancake batter, chocolate, Nutella, beer, eggs, flour, butter, cheese, chips, popcorn, broccoli and syrup.
How the héll am I going to get beer for him? Dang it Jayden.
I grab the stuff and some more things for myself. I'm going to try to get the beer with me by using my charms. I look at the man behind the counter and smile sweetly at him.
"Hi sweety, what are you doing here alone at such a time?" the man asks as he checks me out from head to toe
I under press a shiver and plaster a fake smile on my face.
"My brother forgot to get the groceries and he didn't have time to do it, so he asked me" I say honestly, no need to lie
"Girly, can I see your ID?"
My breath hitches in my throat as he asks me this and I smile at him while handing him my ID.
"Sure, here you go"
He winks at me, before giving it back and ignoring the fact that I'm underage. Well, that was easier than I thought.
"Have a nice evening" he winks again
"Thanks, you too" I smile and quickly walk out of the store. That man gave me the creeps.
I decide to walk through the park, seeing that it is quicker.
Halfway through, I set the two bags down and tie one of my shoe laces again. When I get up I see a group of people shouting. I can't tell if they're fighting or not, but it doesn't seem like they are having a nice conversation.
"Aw, come on" I groan frustrated
Walking towards the scene, I drop the two bags to the side and walk closer to see their faces. My heart drops when I see who they are.
"WHAT THE FÛCK?!" I yell
"Alex?" Mason turns around and a guilty expression crosses his face
"Dang it guys! You promised me for goodness sake!"
Jayden, Connor and Jake turn around, looking guilty as fück.
"Al-" Jayden starts
"No! Don't even try! I thought I could trust you guys! And I don't care that you do this because you care about me! If you really cared you wouldn't do this again!" I shout at them and point at Caleb in the process
"Missed me?"
"Shut the fùck up, Caleb, nobody asked you anything"
Jayden reaches out for me, but before he can say or do anything, two shots are heard.
Jayden falls on the ground and Connor and Jake attack Caleb.
"No, no, no, no!" I cry out, dropping to the ground and holding Jayden in my arms
"Jay, keep your eyes open please, do it for me. I know you can do it. We're here, okay? Stay with us"
I pull off my jacket and try to stop the blood from rushing out, but it doesn't even help one bit.
"Mason, call 911" I shout
"Already done," he answers, "Jake, I need your help here"
Jake rushes towards us and together they carry Jayden towards the end of the park. I grab Connor by the arm and leave Caleb behind on the ground.
Tears roll down my cheeks as we wait for the ambulance. Connor pulls me in a hug and I sob into his chest.
"He's going to be fine, Lex, he's strong. He'll get through this"
"But what if he dies?"
"Sshh, he won't die"

"I'm sorry but you have to wait outside of the room" a doctor tells me and Mason pulls me back from the door
"I can't leave him alone. Let me go, I have to go to him!" I cry out as Mason takes me to the waiting room
"Lex, they'll let us know as soon as they have answers, okay?"
"It's my fault, Mason, it's all my fault. If I didn't date Caleb, if I didn't tell you guys about it, if I just went with Caleb, if I could protect myself, if I didn't distract you guys tonight. T-then, then this a-all wouldn't have h-happened" I cry and Mason pulls me in a hug
"It's not your fault Lex. If anything, it's our fault, we didn't listen to you. Please, don't blame yourself for this, Jayden wouldn't want you to"
I look around the waiting room to find Connor sleeping. The longer I look at him, the unhealthier he looks. His face is extremely pale and he looks lifeless.
I get up from my seat, still crying, and try to wake him up. I check his pulse. Nothing. Again. Nothing. Reality hits me and my mind goes blank.
"No, no, this can't be happening! Connor, wake up, please!" I scream and my whole body starts trembling
Everything happened so fast. Jake who pulled me away from Connor. Mason screaming for nurses. Jake pulling me in a hug. The doctors rushing in and taking Connor away on a bed.
It's been two hours since they took Jayden away and it's been exactly an hour and 53 minutes since we found Connor. There's no news on Jayden and we're currently in Connor's room.
"If he dies, I'll never forgive myself" I whisper as I look at Connor
"He won't die, Lex" Mason tries to reassure me
"You don't know that Mason! You heard the doctor. He's in a coma and the chance of him w-waking up is e-extremely little!" My voice breaks and I look over at Connor
"If only I had paid more attention. If only I would've noticed something was wrong. How could I be so stupid? I should've noticed something! I'm his best friend for goodness sake!"
"You couldn't know Alex. Connor kept it a secret for everyone! He didn't want anyone to know he has cancer Alexia. You can't blame yourself for that, okay?!" Jake this time shouts at me, having red eyes from crying
"He's right Lex, you couldn't have known. None of us could have."
I start sobbing and grab onto Connor's hand.
"C-can I be a-alone with him for a f-few minutes, p-please?" I whisper
Jake and Mason nod their heads and leave the room.
"I'm sorry Connor, I'm so so sorry for being such a bad friend. I should've known something was up. I should've been there for you and I should've taken care of you. Why didn't you tell us you are sick? We would've helped you. W-why didn't you want us to know? Why did you put so much stress on yourself? I'm not worth dying for, you know that. Please wake up, I need you to wake up Con, please. If not for yourself, do it for us, do it for your family. We need you Con, we need you so much. Wake up. Please" I whisper as the tears keep rolling down my face
I feel a tiny squeeze in my hand and soon after that the heart monitor makes one long beeping sound and doctor's rush in. Someone pulls me out of the room and shouting is heard everywhere. I look around me, but Mason and Jake are nowhere to be seen.
I run towards the bathroom, suddenly feeling sick to my stomach. I fall down in front of the toilet and my stomach empties itself. When I'm done I clean my face, but don't bother with anything else.
When I step outside the bathroom, I see Tyler, Daniel, Jade and Connor's parents rushing through the hospital doors.
"Where's my son?!" Connor's father shouts at no one in particular
"Over here" I shout and they rush towards me
"What happened?"
"Are they okay?"
"Where are they?"
"Where are Mason and Jake?"
"Are they going to live?"
"Are they in pain?"
"Which room?"
"Guys, one question at a time"
"Are they okay?"
"I honestly don't know. The doctors just rushed into Connor's room and we haven't heard anything about Jayden for over 2 hours" I whisper as new tears roll down my cheeks
"Connor is in room 211 and Jayden in room 215. But nobody's allowed inside" I mumble
Jade pulls me in a hug and cries with me. We stand for over 15 minutes just hugging and crying. We only pull apart as a doctor appears with a painful looking expression on his face.
Jake and Mason were asking how Jayden was doing when I couldn't find them. Connor's parents have been comforting each other and Tyler and Daniel haven't said a word.
"Alexia Smith?" the doctor asks and I quickly get up from my seat
"That's me"
"I have news on Jayden Smith. Would you like to speak to me in private or is it okay for the rest to hear?"
"They can hear, just tell me if he's going to be fine"
"Jayden Smith has been shot once in his stomach and once in his chest, close to his heart. We had to operate him to remove the bullets and right now he's in a coma. He is stabilized and he will wake up, we don't know how long it will take, but he's going to be fine"
I sigh in relief, taking deep breaths. Thank the freaking lord. He's going to be fine. He's going to be okay.
"Thank you so much" I say as tears from relief roll down my cheeks
Jade jumps up and I pull her in a hug, "he's going to be fine, Jade, he's going to be fine" I sob
"Mr. and Mrs. Simmons?"
They jump up and hold each other's hands. Oh, please let Connor be fine as well. He has to be fine. Please.
"As you must have known, your son had cancer and he would've had 7 months to live due to the fact that the cancer was spreading and we couldn't help him anymore. Unfortunately, your son endured so much stress these past few weeks, that his heart couldn't take it. We have tried to operate him and put him in an artificial coma, but we were too late. I'm really sorry for the words I'm about to say, but your son, Connor Simmons didn't make it. You can go see him now"

My heart hurts. Jayden made it, but Connor didn't :'( I'm sorry :(
