I was still confused by everything that was going on as Clary dragged me outside. We had just left Jace and Alec inside ready to jump at each other, and not in the sexual sense, and I was very much concerned. "Do you really think it's a good idea to leave them alone?"

"We need to get you out of here." Clary stated, as she kept tugging on my sleeve.

"Okay... Where are we going?" I questioned, allowing myself to be pulled away.

"Hotel Dumort." Uh, what?

I stopped in my tracks, and Clary was no longer able to drag me. "Excuse me? I think I heard you wrong."

"It's the only place we won't be suspected. And where no Clave members will be." Clary explained.

She had a point. But still. I hated vampires and their stench.

"And Simon is there." Clary added, causing my eyes to widen.

I had almost forgot about one of my closest friends, and that made me feel horrible. "How is he?" I asked concerned. I had not seen him ever since he turned. It wasn't his fault he was a vampire now, *cough* Clary *cough*, but the thought made me shiver.

"I'll explain on the way." Clary said, and proceeded to pull on my sleeve again.

Clary told me everything that happened whilst I was being kept in custody by that bitch Lydia, and there was a lot that I missed. "So... you and Simon. In a cage."

Clary shook her head. "Stop making this weird." She let out a laugh. "I mean, not that any of this is normal, but it's still Simon. I know it is. He hasn't changed."

I pursed my lips. "Except he drinks blood now and could have murdered you in there."

Clary shot me a glare. "He didn't. He can control himself." Then she paused. "Can you?"

I frowned. "Uh, I don't drink blood. A bloody mary, now that, maybe."

She rolled her eyes. "Can you control yourself around Simon or not? Because he will be there." I suddenly realized I was going to have to see my friend as one of my archenemies. And soon. We had arrived.

The shabby hotel Dumort stood in front of us, I stared up at it, reluctant to go inside. "I'll do my best." I replied with all honesty. The last thing I wanted to do was make Simon feel uncomfortable or unwanted. He was still my friend, no matter how bad he smelled.

Clary led us to what I assumed was the main lobby, with golden couches and dark tapestry. "Clary! Mia!" I recognized Simon's voice immediately, and sure enough, there he was, rushing towards us.

He embraced Clary, then turned to me. I think my stunned face said it all. He looked exactly the same, and yet, he wasn't. Not really. "Mia." He gulped. "Hi."

I returned to my senses soon enough, a smile appearing on my face. "Simon." I hugged him. "I'm glad you're okay."

"It's been a while." He said as we broke apart. "Look- I know I'm a vampire, and you're a werewolf. And I know you hate vampires and there's this whole thing about not fraternizing with us but... I guess I was hoping you'd make an exception."

I couldn't help but smile at that. "Of course, Simon. You're one of my best friends. Nothing will change that." I took a quick sniff at him. "But you really need to shower."

Simon feigned offense at that, and Clary was laughing, as Jace stormed into the room. I was hoping he'd reveal some information about Alec but...

"Clary, Mia, we have to go. Merlion is a wanted man and we have to get him to the Seelie Court where he's protected." Jace stated in a hurry.

"Someone's in a mood." I whispered under my breath so only Simon and Clary could hear. Or at least I thought so before I heard Jace groan.

"Mia, can you come here a second." He asked. His tone was serious. I hoped he didn't want to scold me on what I had just said.

I turned to Simon. "I'll see you soon, buddy." I hugged him quickly before walking over to Jace. "What's up?"

Jace sighed. "I have bad news."

I raised an eyebrow. "Is it Alec? Did he-"

"No, no, it's not Alec." Jace interrupted me. "Although he's not going to help us."

What a surprise. I couldn't hide my disappointment.

"It's about you." Oh no.

"Oh?"

"It's not just Merlion that's wanted. The Clave is searching for you too. They think what went down tonight was your doing, and that you know where the cup is and are hiding information." He explained.

Great, who doesn't want to be a wanted criminal at 18? I even lost my chance of going to juvie.

"You're gonna have to stick with your pack for now. And keep a low profile." He continued.

"But so are you and Clary right? You're going to find Clary's mom." I assumed that was still the plan.

Jace nodded. "Yes. But you can't come with us, it's too dangerous."

I raised my eyebrows at him. "Too dangerous? I'm a werewolf. If anything you need my help."

"Not dangerous for you necessarily. But for us. Werewolves are easier to track down. We can't use runes on you or-"

"There's no way I'm letting Clary do this alone."

"She won't be alone." Jace assured me. "I promise I will protect her with my life." He looked completely sincere as he said that, and I believed him. That didn't mean it didn't suck to be left behind, again.

I nodded. "You better. Or I'll show you what an angry werewolf can do." Jace grinned. My threat was a joke, sort of.

I noticed his eyes wandered off to Clary, who was hugging Simon goodbye. Jace did not look happy. The green monster was coming out.

Before I could reply, Clary joined us. "Let's go."

We walked outside to find Merlion and Izzy deep in a make out session.

I coughed really loudly. They broke apart.

"I hate to break up this reunion, Izzy, but we have to go." Jace spoke before I could make a wildly inappropriate comment.

Izzy nodded, turning to Merlion. "You're in good hands." Then she turned back to us. "I need to get back to the Institute, see what hell has broken loose." And then me. "Try and talk some sense into Alec."

I scoffed. "Good luck with that."

Izzy ignored my comment. "Take care of him." She said, referring to Merlion.

"We will." Clary assured her.

"I'll go too." I said as Izzy walked off. Clary turned around confused.

"What? Why?" She exclaimed.

"Trust me, you're better off without me." I pulled her into a hug before she could reply. "Say hi to your mom for me when you find her, okay?" I knew she would.

Clary nodded, still upset. "I don't understand, why can't you come?"

"I'm kind of a fugitive now." That sounded badass. Maybe being a fugitive wasn't so bad. "Plus my pack needs me."

"Take care of yourself."

"You too." I hugged her again, nodded at Jace, and started walking away.

It was one of the hardest things I've had to do. I couldn't help but feel like they would need my help, but Jace was one of the best Shadowhunters I'd met and I knew he'd protect her.

I was bundled up in the covers of my bed when someone knocked on my bedroom door. "Who is it?" I groaned.

"Luke." His familiar voice spoke.

"You may-" He walked in. "-Enter."

"I have business to take care of at Jade Wolf. Do you want to come?" He offered.

I thought about it. Then realized I could stay in bed all day and eat ice cream. "Eh. Not really."

Luke rolled his eyes. "You can't stay in here forever."

"It's been like three hours! Gee. Hasn't anyone heard of a "lazy day" around here?" Because I needed like seven a week.

"Fine. But I'll be there if you need anything."

I nodded and opened my laptop up. "Kay. Thanks." I flashed him a smile before turning back to my computer and typing "Netflix."

I was maybe two hours into my Teen Wolf marathon when my phone started buzzing. I frowned, annoyed, picking it up. I was more than shocked to see Alec's name.

I was tempted not to answer, but I knew that if he was calling something was wrong. Unless it was a trap.

"Is this a trap?" I questioned as I picked up the phone. "You better not be tracking my location."

I could hear Alec scoffing on the other line. "Please, chances are you're at home eating."

I glanced down at the half empty tub of ice cream in my free hand. "Uh... no."

"This is important. The mortal cup is missing." Alec stated.

Okay, time to pretend like I know nothing. "I know nothing." I replied with excessive speed.

Not my finest moment. I was bad under pressure, okay?

"Mia. I can tell when you're lying." He replied. "Did Jace take it?"

"I'm not lying. I thought you had it." I kept my voice at normal speed this time.

"It's not in the volt. Someone took it. And you knew where it was." He accused.

"Yeah well I was busy getting kidnapped by you and your fiancée."

"It was the law, Mia. You knew I didn't want to do that."

"But you did and you would have gone through with it. You would have taken me to the Creepy Brothers." The disappointment was clear in my voice.

"Silent Brothers." He corrected me.

"Whatever."

"I didn't have a choice."

"Stop saying that. You did have a choice, and you chose the Clave over your family and friends." I pointed out.

I heard Alec pause for a moment, clearly that hit home. "They took Izzy."

"What?" I questioned.

"Lydia found her guilty of helping Merlion escape. They might strip her of her marks, banish her." I could tell he was upset about this. As he should be.

"I'm sorry about Izzy." I said with all honestly. "But what can I do about it?"

"If you tell me where the cup is I can trade it in for Izzy, save her." He explained.

I shook my head although he couldn't see. The last thing I wanted to do was ruin Clary's plan of saving her mom. And I didn't trust the Clave one bit, who knew if they would accept the deal? Maybe they'd take the Cup and ruin Izzy anyways. "I'm sorry Alec." And with that, I hung up.

My phone kept buzzing for another fifteen minutes until it finally stopped.

It started buzzing again about thirty minutes later. "Urgh. What now?" I put my show on pause and picked up my phone. It was an unknown caller. "Uh... Hello?"

"Is this Mia?" I couldn't recognize the voice, although it seemed kind of familiar.

"Yes... Who is this?" I was one of those people who freaked at unknown numbers. For all I knew it could be the devil himself.

"It's Hodge." Hodge? What Hodge? Did I know a- Ohhhhh. Realization hit me.

Hodge was Jace, Izzy and Alec's mentor at the Institute. "Hi Hodge." I said cautiously. He was also a Shadowhunter and knew that I was a fugitive, sort of. I wasn't really in hiding unless you consider lying underneath three blankets and a laptop "hiding". "What's up?"

"Look I know you don't know me and have no reason to trust me. But I know Alec trusts you and... Well he's not making a very smart decision." He spoke.

Uh oh. "What do you mean?" I asked.

"He's trying to track Jace through his parabatai bond."

"Mh, yeah, I don't really know what that means." I responded truthfully.

"Tracking your parabatai through the bond makes the bond weaker, and could potentially break it. It could hurt them both, or worse." That did not sound good.

"Well stop him!" I exclaimed. The answer seemed pretty clear to me.

"He needs the cup to save his sister, Mia. There's not much I can do to stop him." Hodge continued.

I sighed. Goddamit Alec. "I still don't get why you called me. I can't really come over and convince him not to, can I?" Hello! Wanted criminal!

"No. But you can give him the answer he needs, so he won't have to."

I frowned. "I don't know where the cup is."

"Come on, Mia. Clary is your best friend and she didn't tell you?" Hodge insisted.

I was getting really fed up with everyone thinking I knew where the cup was. "As a matter of fact, no. She didn't." I snapped. "And I don't care what Alec does or doesn't do with his parabatai bond."

"Fine. Then maybe you care that the Clave will know exactly where your hideout is."

Was this dick trying to blackmail me??

"The Clave can't touch me if I'm in my territory." I defended.

"Your house isn't in your territory." Goddamit.

"Well it's a good thing I'm not in my house then." I lied. "Now you can go screw yourself. Bye Hodge." I pressed the end call button before he could reply.

Maybe that was a little harsh... Eh. He ass tried to blackmail me. Not under my watch.

I glared at my computer screen. I had to get out of here.

•••

Not long later I was in front of Jade Wolf. I walked in to find Luke and Simon. "Oh hi guys." I flashed them a big smile.

They were sitting at a booth with a big steak on a plate. They both smiled as I walked over to them. "What did I miss?"

"I'm the new ambassador for the werewolves." Simon grinned. "I also got Luke's job back by having him shoot me multiple times."

I glanced over at Luke for confirmation. Not that I didn't believe Simon... He just tended to exaggerate things. "He saved the day." Luke agreed.

"Wow Simon. Maybe being a vampire is going you good." I patted his shoulder and scooched him to the side of the booth so I could sit next to him.

"I still can't eat though." Simon sighed, staring at the steak.

"Yeah what's the raw meat for?" I raised an eyebrow.

"I was trying to teach him to adapt to different situations." Luke expained. "See, look around the meat." He told Simon. "What do you see?"

"Blood." He replied.

"Exactly."

I narrowed my eyes at Luke. "He can't really lick it off the plate though. Some people find that weird." I pointed out. Luke glared at me. "Not me though." I tried to save myself. "Nope, I find it super attractive when guys lick blood off the plate. Mhhmm." The sarcasm was pretty clear in my voice.

"There's no need to lick. Just-" Luke pulled up the plate and a glass cup and let the blood fall into the cup from the plate. "Like this." He set the cup down in front of Simon. "See? You're all set." Luke looked pleased with himself.

Simon pursed his lips. "And that move is supposed to help me look normal?"

I let out a laugh as I pictured Simon trying to pull that off casually on a date.

Luke paused for a moment, noticing the faults in his plan. "Yeah, maybe a wine glass would be better."

"Probably." Simon nodded.

Just then th door to the restaurant slammed open and Clary, Jace and a man appeared. "We need help!" Clary exclaimed. I noticed she and the man were holding up Jace who was passed out.

"What happened?" I asked as the three of us stood up.

"We thought we found Valentine but he was already gone." Clary and the man sat Jace down in a booth.

Luke was frowning, probably trying to figure out who the man was, as was I. "Who's that?" I pointed at the stranger. Even though it was rude to point.

"Micheal Wayland?" Luke questioned at the same time.

Clary looked up at us. "Valentine took my mother with him. But we found Jace's father."

Simon was the one who spoke up now. "What? I thought Valentine killed Jace's father."

"He tried." The man finally spoke. He had similar features to Jace, blue eyes and blond hair, and a big ass circle rune on his neck. Just like all the ex circle members. He then turned to Luke. "Hello Lucian."

"This can't be. I thought I'd never see you again." Luke was in awe.

At this point I was just confused.

"I never thought I'd see anyone again." Micheal Wayland replied.

"What happened to Jace?" The guy looked like he was in a lot of pain during this nice little chit chat.

"A demon got him." Uh oh. "He can't fight the poison. His runes are too weak and he needs blood, but we can't go back to the Institute." Realization hit her as she turned to Simon. "Simon, there's gotta be some kind of blood at Hotel DuMort."

What happened next was Simon and Clary deciding to go to the hotel to get some blood for Jace and speaking super fast. Before I realized they were out the door.

"Well bye." I shrugged. I turned to Jace's father. "Is there anything Luke and I can do to help?"

Jace's dad shook his head. "He needs to heal. I'm afraid we need to wait for Clary to return."

I thought popped into my head then. "What if we can get a warlock to help?"

He raised his eyebrows at me. "You know a warlock who would agree to help?"

Well... "Maybe." I had to do something to help. Clary was stealing all the thunder. Tisk tisk. "There's no harm in trying."

"I'll stay here with them." Luke told me. "Let me know how it goes. And I'll text you when Clary returns."

"Sounds good." I quickly made my way out the door and found myself bumping into someone. "Ouch."

"Sorry I-" Oh no, I knew that voice. "Mia." Damian's grinning face was inches away from mine.

I took a step back. "Damian." I acknowledged.

We weren't exactly on bad terms. He did help me out with Camille. But that didn't mean we were friends and all was forgiven.

"How's it going?" He asked.

"Well, I'm a fugitive from the Clave, my best friend's mom is still missing and now her boyfriend is about to die. So... pretty good."

Damian raised his eyebrows at me. "Do you need some help?"

"Not from you." I muttered, about to walk past him when he grabbed my arm.

"Please, Mia. Let me help." He begged.

I looked up at him. He was uncomfortably close to me once more. "Fine." I agreed. "You can come with me to meet Magnus. You two have a lot in common."

"Is that so?" He grinned.

"Yup." I tugged my arm out of his grip. "You both slept with the vampire bitch."

That shut him up.

This was going to be interesting...
