Jade's POV

I groaned as the faint sound of an alarm became louder.

My clock read 7:35 a.m.

I don't even remember setting my alarm to that time.

Screw 7:35 a.m!

I slammed the snooze button with my hand.

I put my pillow over my head as an attempt to go back to sleep again.

I was doing fine.

For two seconds.

My phone began ringing loudly.

Why do I have this thing at max volume?

I grabbed my phone and answered it angrily.

"What!?" I yelled.

"Well is that any way to speak to your father?" The person on the other line answered.

I groaned. "Sorry dad, but if I wake up before 8 you know I get grouchy."

He chuckled. "I just wanted to check in."

"But my interview isn't until 9." I pointed out,.

"Well, then you better get ready."

"I have enough time to get there."

"Are you questioning my authority cadet?"

"Fine! Fine! I'm getting up." I rolled my eyes even if he couldn't see me.

"You are in your mid-twenties and you still can not wake up in time."

"Bye, dad."

He laughed. "Bye Jady."

I cringed at the nickname he had for me.

He's called me that since I was a kid and it's always made me cringe.

I hung up the phone and tossed it to the other side of my bed.

I'm guessing I should introduce myself now.

My name is Jade Holt.

I'm 25 years old.

I have long straightened light brown, caramel colored hair.

My eyes are a shade of sapphire blue.

I bet you're wondering about that interview.

It's a job interview.

It's not really for something that is not really my thing but I'm grateful for the interview.

I need a job.

Rent doesn't come cheap.

I had just moved to a new town.

Right now I am living in an apartment building outside of the city.

My dad helped me pay for the first part of the rent but I felt bad.

So I am trying to work to pay him back.

I quickly got dressed in business casual clothes.

I grabbed a hair tie and put my long hair into a bun.

I grabbed my wallet, phone, and keys in my hand and walked out the door.

I took the stairs to the lobby of the apartment building.

I walked out the lobby doors and made my way to the taxi waiting for me on the curb.

I opened the door and sat in the back seat.

"Good morning ma'am." The driver greeted me.

It's too early in the morning for it to be good.

"Hey." I greeted back.

"How are you doing today?" He asked.

"Good. Thanks."

"Where are you going?"

I took out a piece of crumpled up paper.

I unfolded it and handed it to him.

"Can you take me to this address?"

He took the paper and read it.

He started the car and began to drive.

"So what brings you to the city?"

"Job interview."

"For what?"

Is it just me or is he being a little nosey?

Maybe he's just making conversation.

"It's just an office job."

"Don't want to reveal too much huh?" He joked.

"I don't mean to be rude, but how much longer until we get there?"

"About two minutes." He dropped the joyful attitude.

He soon pulled up to an office complex.

I grabbed the money out of my wallet and handed it to him.

"Thanks for the ride." I exited the car.

"Yeah, yeah." He waved me off and began to count his money.

I rolled my eyes.

Well, he changed moods faster than I ever could.

I think I'll put him in his place.

"You know, if you want a better tip, don't ask people about their personal life." I said.

He stopped counting the money and glared at me.

I continued. "And definitely don't put on a crappy attitude after they refuse to tell you."

I closed the door.

He flipped me off as he drove off.

I fake smiled and waved.

As you can see, I clearly don't have the best luck with men.

I turned my attention to the building he dropped me off at.

It was huge.

Of course, it is.

I am not used to tall buildings.

Or the city.

I took a deep breath and entered the building.

I walked up to the lady at the desk.

She was typing rapidly on her computer.

She looked up at me and had a disgusted look on her face.

"Can I help you?" She asked.

"I'm here for an interview. Jadynn Holt."

She typed something on her computer.

"You're late."

My eyebrows furrowed.

I looked at the clock on my phone.

I was two minutes late.

"Um, yeah. By two minutes." I pointed out.

"Mr. Clark has a very busy schedule this morning. Timing is everything."

I sighed. "May I still have the interview?"

"I'll ask Mr. Clark if he will still take you in. Please have a seat."

I went to the waiting area and sat down.

What crawled into her coffee and died?

"Jadynn Holt." The lady called.

That was quick.

I got up and walked to the desk.

"Tenth floor." She said and pointed to the elevator

I nodded and walked to it.

Once I was in the elevator I clicked the button for the tenth floor.

The elevator doors opened.

The entire floor was on office.

There was a man sitting at a desk at the far end of the room in front of a window.

I walked up to the desk.

"You must be Jadynn." The man held out his hand.

The nameplate at his desk read 'Mr.Clark'

I grabbed his hand and shook it. "That's me, but I prefer Jade."

"That is quite a firm handshake for a woman." He let go of my hand.

What is that supposed to mean?

I sat down on one of the chairs in front of the desk.

He took out a file and read the papers in it.

"Your resume it a lot different than those who would normally apply here." He said.

Is that a bad thing?

He continued. "And you are also lacking some of the most important requirements."

I kept my mouth shut.

He put the file down on his desk and got up from his seat.

"Tell me miss Holt, why should I hire you?" He walked over to the side of the desk where I was.

"As you said my resume is different from others, I know how to do things others don't."

"But that could also create a problem, we don't want a new employee sticking out like a sore thumb."

I stood up for my seat when he got close to my chair.

Dude, back it up.

"Sir, I really need this job."

"I'll tell you what, I'll hire you one condition." He said.

He placed his hand on my shoulder.

"What would that be?" I shrugged off his hand.

"You have to sleep with me."

I grew angry

Did he really think I was that desperate!?

He went to place his hand on my face.

Instead, I grabbed his hand and locked it behind his back.

I pushed his body and slammed his face on the desk.

I kept his arm in place.

He groaned in pain. "What is wrong with you!?"

"What is wrong with me? I should be asking you that! Do you really think I'm that desperate for a job!?"

"That's what women are for. They are toys."

"I suggest you shut up. You saw my special skills. I can break your legs with one hand."

"You do that and I'll make sure you end up in a prison cell!"

I let him go.

He straightened himself and dusted himself off.

I grabbed my stuff and went back down to the lobby.

I was so angry I didn't see where I was going.

Until someone spilled their coffee on me.
