Hey everyone! WELCOME to the eighth episode of the THIRD VOLUME of RWBY: (Genius Gamer Shadow) Ex-Aid Reader x Ruby Rose! So, to recap once again, I DO NOT OWN RWBY AND KAMEN RIDER EX-AID!! RWBY is owned by RoosterTeeth and Kamen Rider Ex-Aid is owned by Toei.
So, now sit back, enjoy and LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!
My POV:
I am standing before the door as I started pacing back and forth, my popcorn still in hand, untouched. As soon as I heard that Pyrrha was fighting against Penny, I knew what was about to happen, so I decided to call the ones closest to the arena's entrance, which were Tenka, Rachel and Mitchell. Fortunately, Tenka was the first to answer the call.
Tenka: Hello? Doc?
Me: Tenka! Thank Oum and thank Gemdeus, but listen and I want you three to listen real carefully: You have to stop the, match!
When Mitchel heard this, the three remained silent for a moment, out of shock, before my teammates literally shrieked....
T/R/M: WHAT?!?! But--
Me: I know it's a crazy idea, but I'm having this feeling that Mercury and Emerald are still here in Vale.
Mitchell: A-Actually about that.... Emerald is two levels below us.
Me: I knew it! Which is all the more reason why you two have to stop that match pronto or it'll be like Yang's accident all over again! But even worse!
Tenka: J-Just calm down, Doctor. I get it. But how can we stop it exactly?
Me: Ask Rachel. If she's having the same feeling as I do, then you guys will have no problem on what to do, because Rachel knows her way 'around' gaps.
Mitchell: Okay, B-But---
Me: Look, we're losing time here, and I still have to find Ruby. Just do what you guys have to do to stop that match by any means necessary. I trust you three on this. Good luck.
When I ended the call, Mitchell remained silent as he just stared at the Scroll. Rachel then inquired him about it.
Rachel: Mitch, what shall we do?
Mitchell: We're stopping this match!
At that moment, Rachel beamed and started laughing.
Rachel: AAHHHAAAAHH! Come on, I know what he meant by 'Around the gaps'. Come on. Let's go!!
And with that, they swiftly slip through the crowd as they made their way towards the arena while not being seen by Atlas drones and guards. While doing so, Tenka tried to call me but communications are jammed, much to Tenka and my frustrations.
Me: Dammit! Did they jammed the communications here?! Doesn't matter, I have to get Ruby.
Putting my Scroll back to my pocket, I entered the door discreetly and went off to look for her. Concurrently behind closed doors, Ruby Rose is still facing down an up-and-standing Mercury Black, who's smugly smiling at the younger girl's confusion.
Ruby: Mercury, what are you doing? You were hurt! Why..... What's going on?
Mercury doesn't answer, still grinning with malice.
Ruby: Fine. If you're not going to tell me...
She attempts to move around him, but he blocks her path, then does it again when she sidesteps. Then Oobleck's voice sounds over the announcement system to draw Ruby's attention away.
Oobleck: Fighters, are you ready?
Mercury smirks at this.... and then.
Oobleck: BEGIN!!!
Mercury: Showtime.
He goes forward, blocking Ruby's path with his arms outstretched, restraining her movements no matter where she moves. Panicked, she grimaces and spins forward, becoming a blur of red and petals rocketing toward Mercury, only for the villain to kick her mid-dash with his boots and knock her to the ground. He advances on her just as she gets her out Scroll, about to push the button to call for help when a bullet shatters the device into several shards.
Mercury: Let's just keep this between us friends.
He dashes forwards, but was suddenly intercepted by a small frozen projectile in the face. Mercury reels back from the sudden attack, and manages to catch the next incoming one, only to see it was just a frozen kernel of popcorn.
???: Friends? Since when?
Ruby and Mercury turns towards the sound of the voice in surprise to see me leaning against the wall, a bucket of popcorn in hand, with frozen kernels of it floating circularly on my hand, signifying I was behind the 'assault'.
Ruby: Shadow!
Ruby leaps into my arms, nearly knocking the both of us to the ground, but I kept my footing as I held her with my free hand. I separated myself from her as I glared at Mercury, who returns the gesture more.
Me: Get out of here.
Ruby: B-But---
Me: I'll buy you some time! Just go on ahead! Just go! GO!!!
Ruby was surprised by mysudden raise in voice, but her face quickly turned into determination as she nodded to me in response and she rushed by as fast as she could. He was about to intercept her, but he heard the sudden sound of an ice forming below him. He looked down to see one of his boot frozen to the ground firmly, then launches himself up to get free. I turned back towards Mercury, who had taken up his battle stance.
Me: You didn't think I would let my girlfriend get hurt by the hands of you, or feet in your case, now did you?
Mercury: She was being a pe--
Mercury was cut-off mid-sentence, the bucket of popcorn was thrown towards his face, but he obliterates it with his boots, sending all the popcorn in all directions.
Me: Now that's just good popcorn you've wasted there, mate.
I said this as I unsheathed my Parablagun from my back.
Me: You and your group are really pissing me off.
I quickly rushed at him using my Semblance (Perfect Puzzle) as I turned myself into my snow form then suddenly turning back right in front of me. He reels back by the sudden appearance before I started unleashing flurry of attacks. I swatted the side of his head by using the blunt side of my Parablade, then sweeping him off his feet. Ice began forming around my weapon, turning it into a axe form. Just as I brought it down towards Mercury, he blocked it using his boots, creating a small shockwave around me.
In a split second, I summoned an ice sword swung it towards his feet. My strike made its mark as I hear the clang of metal as it did. In retaliation, he kicked me back, before doing a backspring away from me.
Me: So, tell me... was the Lien worth for gaining you your Prosthetic Metal Legs?
Mercury remains silent, shocked at the sudden revelation.
Mercury: How do you know that?!
Me: Let's just say 'The only man who could only beat your old man' gave me every bit of information about you and your father.
Mercury: Th-That's impossible... The only one who would've beat him was.... Don't tell me you had contact with "The Flame Element Dragon"?!
Me: Why not? He's my dad after all.
With this, Mercury glares even more as he started rushing towards me, starting his own all out attack against me. I was able to block most of his attacks easily enough, only needing to use my semblance to enhance my speed up a few times. But continuously doing this made my Aura level to drain down.
Mercury: Getting tired?
Me: Not just yet, leg-day man!!
Seeing an opportunity, I grabbed his incoming leg with my conjoured ice fists and threw him back. I was desperately keeping my emotions in check and the Power of the Winter Maiden in check as well, trying not unleashing it, that it took all of my willpower to keep it in control. I had no choice, and things for me were getting weaker and going sideways because of the fact that almost all of my Aura is connected to it.
Mercury rushed towards me once again, by jumping up as he is about to send an axe kick towards me. I blocked the boot with my blade in axe form, sparks flew between my weapons as I pushed him backwards. Mercury, however, was just able to recover quick enough to dodge the incoming slash that I was about to send towards him, backflipping away from me to get earn himself some distance.
Me: You know you cannot win this, you know that....(panting).... I'm stronger than you.
Mercury: Oh, really? You're frequent panting says otherwise.
Me: I said... don't.... screw.... with... me.... You have no idea how much power dwells inside me.
Mercury: Then why don't you show it?
He mocks as he goes back to his battle stance. I wasn't able to contain my anger any longer as I bowed my head down, and closed my eyes.
Me: (In head) Mother, father... and everyone who has given their life in the past to protect me: Forgive me.
With that, I suddenly raised my head at him with a scowl on my face, my eyes glowing intensely at Mercury. Meanwhile with Emerald still squinting down on the arena, the sharp sound of Emerald's Semblance is heard as Penny's eight swords double, then triple, multiplying into an unreal thicket of blades. At the sight of this, Pyrrha unsteadily steps back, both in reality where the eight swords are ready to go forth and in the hallucinated world, where the cloud of weapons thicken to even block the crowds around her.
Mitchell's POV:
Rachel, Tenka and I, finally arrive on the stadium. I narrowed my eyes, and sees that Pyrrha wasn't looking directly at her opponent, she was looking around. With the arena being above-ground level, Rachel grabs my hand, telling me something.
Rachel: I need to combine your semblance. So, Take Pyrrha, I'll get Penny.
With a nod, I ran to Pyrrha and Rachel, now having the same speed as Mitchell, runs to Penny, but it was too late. Penny sends them all forward, few in reality and hundreds strong in Pyrrha's mind. My body slowly appeared on the arena as he tackles Pyrrha to the ground after she unleashed her semblance on Penny under an illusion. Penny is ripped apart when Rachel, who appeared next on the arena grounds, was inches away from Penny, her hand outstretched towards her.
Meanwhile, Tenka, not being able to understand what was going on, becomes so shocked that he was brought down to his knees.
Tenka: No..... This... This can't be...
Just then, the sound of cries and screams of shock and horror was enough to halt Shadow's revealing. Something bad seemed to have happened. His eyes have gone back to their original color as he turned to Mercury, who had also heard the cries, and now had a triumphant smirk on his face.
Shadow: What did you do?
Mercury: Oh, nothing really. Why don't you see it for yourself?
My POV:
I quickly turned back towards the direction Ruby had gone, with Mercury slowly tailing behind me, laughing coldly at the situation. After a few moments of sprinting I charged the door of the service tunnel out of my way and turned to a corner. I was then greeted by the sight of Ruby on her knees, tears filling up her eyes. Worried, I ran up to gaze down at the arena field and my eyes widen at what I saw.
Me: No...
As I stood there, I saw the figure of Mitchell, who seem to have knock Pyrrha to the ground, with Rachel standing solely by herself as she gazes down at Penny in pieces on the ground.
Ruby: Penny...
Me: No.. No, no, no. No!
I shook my head unbelievably as I started walking backwards. Then I broke into a full sprint yet again as I ran back to the service tunnel.
Me: Mercury, come back here!!! You coward!!!!
Just as I opened the door, I was greeted by him, only for me to get kicked hardly on the stomach, which was barely enough to drain my Aura, then towards my head, strong enough to be kicked to the wall hard and lose consciousness from the impact. Ruby sees this and runs up to my unconscious body, desperately shaking me to wake you up.
She stops when the displays around the arena suddenly changed. They showed a reddish background with a black queen chess pieces over it. All the crowds' eyes were on the monitors as the speakers began to ring out a message around the stadium.
???: This is not a tragedy. This was not an accident. This is what happens when you hand over your trust, your safety, your children, to men who claim to be our guardians, but are, in reality, nothing more than men. Our Academies' Headmasters wield more power than most armies, and one was audacious enough to control both.
Ironwood, realizing who she's talking about, grimaces and rises from his seat, marching up the steps. Tenka rises up from his knees as he shook his head and decided to look for me.
???: They cling to this power in the name of peace, and yet, what do we have here? One nation's attempt at a synthetic army, mercilessly torn apart by another's star pupil. What need would Atlas have for a soldier disguised as an innocent little girl? I don't think the Grimm can tell the difference.
When Mitchell and Pyrrha got up, the latter holds a hand to her mouth in dread as she continues to stare at the remains of Penny, eyes watering, a single tear falling, with Rachel running up to her partner, as she sobs in Mitchell's shoulder.
???: And what, I ask you, is Ozpin teaching his students? First a dismemberment, now this? Huntsmen and Huntresses should carry themselves with honor and mercy, yet I have witnessed neither. Perhaps Ozpin felt as though defeating Atlas in the Tournament would help people forget his colossal failure to protect Vale when the Grimm invaded its streets. Or perhaps this was his message to the tyrannical dictator that has occupied an unsuspecting kingdom with armed forces. Honestly, I haven't the slightest clue as to who is right and who is wrong. But I know the existence of peace is fragile, and the leaders of our kingdoms conduct their business with iron gloves. As someone who hails from Mistral, I can assure you the situation there is... equally undesirable. Our Kingdoms are on the brink of war, yet we, the citizens, are left in the dark. So I ask you: When the first shots are fired... who do you think you can trust?
As the woman finished her announcement, the monitors around the stadium turned to static as the crowds stood in silence. Then the sound of a wailing alarm throughout the structure, with Humans and Faunus looking up in alarm at the orange flashing screens reading "CAUTION".
Warning Announcer: Alert. Incoming Grimm attack. Threat level: Nine. Please seek shelter in a calm and orderly manner.
The crowds begin to flee, wild and screaming, through the exit tunnels, while Ironwood enters the announcers' box and grabs the microphone from between Port and Oobleck.
Ironwood: Ladies and gentlemen, please. There is no need for panic.
With that said, and ironically, appears atop the arena's domed force field, giving a series of deafening screeches as it claws and pecks at the defense with its beak. In the headmaster's office, Ozpin is gripping his cane tight, watching the city come under attack with a horrified expression. Just then, Qrow and Glynda enter the office
Qrow: Oz!
Ozpin: Get to the city! And make sure Apollonir is there!
Qrow: But-
Ozpin: NOW!
Qrow and Glynda exchange a look before going back the way they came. Back in the stadium, Tenka is making his way through the crowd as he squeezes himself between the people who are going towards the opposite way. After a couple of struggles, he finds Ruby kneeling next to someone.
Tenka: Ruby! There you are! Have you seen...... DOCTOR!
When he sees that it was me, he kneels himself down next to Ruby.
Tenka: What happened, Ruby?
Ruby only kept herself silent, as if she'd lost her sense of hearing. Ruby stays kneeling on the ground with her head down, her expression in a mixture of shock and sadness, with Tenka gazing at her out of confusion at her attitude....
