It is now Friday and I am really nervous. It's weird how I can sing In front of thousands of people but yet I can't hang out with one dude without feeling nauseous. For the past few days Ace has been taking me to and from school and I'm not complaining. Today however, Ace couldn't pick me up today because they usually do some ritual before school starts or whatever. He never really told me what these 'rituals' consist of. Emily and I have become pretty close friends since Monday. I'm kind of forcing her to come with me to this party because I have no idea what is going to happen. Mark and Emily started talking a bit so hopefully Mark will take her to the party.
I make my way to school and there is a huge crowd outside.
The principal is standing behind a podium, "Now Presenting our undefeated football team!"
The crowd screams as the football players run through the paper banner. Ace is in the front and he runs up on the stage and stands next to the principal. The other players gather around behind him. The cheerleaders stood in front of the stage cheering them on. They continue to hype the crowd by saying how they are going to win and then they will go to state finals. I zoned out for a good ten minutes because if I'm honest, i was bored. How do these people have so much school spirit. I can barely get up in the morning just to go to school.
After the whole ritual or whatever that thing was, Ace and I walk to Government. As I walk into class, I see Amber and her friends huddle around and whisper among each other. As i walk to my desk, Amber sticks her Cheeto looking leg out, causing me to fall on the ground.
I groan as she begins to laugh, "oops my bad."
They laugh as Ace reaches his hand out to hoist me up.
"Amber what the fuck is your problem?" Ace snaps.
"Acie-boo it was just an accident besides, she is really clumsy." She snickers.
"I'm sorry she treats you like this." He says sadly.
"It's fine," I sigh as I sit down in my seat. Amber glares at me as she starts to walk back to her seat.
"You know, I'm excited that you are going to the game tonight. You are going to be my good luck charm." He says as he winks at me.
"Oh please, you guys are undefeated and I just got here. Why do you need a good luck charm?" I reply.
"Well maybe I can get a good luck kiss from my new lucky charm." He says as I begin to blush.
After my chemistry class, I head down to the cafeteria and get my lunch. I walk towards our usual table and sit down across from Emily.
"Hey Emily how are you?" I say as I stab my fork into my salad.
"Uhm to be honest.. I'm a bit nervous. I have never been to the football games or a high school party." She frowns while taking a bite out of her peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
"It's going to be my first time too. Besides, it's your senior year Emily, you have to step out of your shell and try new things." I tell her as I take a sip of my water.
"Your right.. it's just.. Mark asked me to go with him to the party and I'm afraid I'm going to be played. He is a player maya just like all the boys in this school. He hooks up with girls and then kicks them to the curb." She sighs while staring towards the boys direction as they walk towards us.
"Give him a chance, besides I doubt Ace will be with me the whole night so it's just gonna be you and I." Ace sits down next to me as the mark and Cameron sit at their usual seats.
"So what are you two talking about?" Ace says while eating some fries.
"Nothing much, just talking about tonight . We aren't really the type to party that's all." I tell him while finishing my salad.
"Guys maybe I shouldn't go, what if something bad happens?" Emily says in a worried tone.
"Don't worry you girls are going to be fine. Besides, we will protect you from any dangers. Isn't that right boys?" Cameron says as he glances at Mark and Ace.
"Of course, no one touches my lucky charm but me." Ace says as he wraps his arm around my shoulder. I give him a confused look and he starts to chuckle.
"Yea, I will make sure nothing happens to you Emily. I'm gonna be by your side the whole night." Mark says while giving her a genuine smile.
Emily blushes and says, "Thanks Guys, this really means a lot." We all finish our food as we talk about the game tonight and random stuff.
Trigonometry was boring as usual and so was english. Now it was time to go home and Ace is currently dropping me off to my house.
"I'm going to pick you up four hours from now. So make sure your ready to go to the party after the game." Ace says as he parks in the driveway.
"Alright, thanks again Ace," I smile as I get out of the car.
"No problem Maya, see you tonight," Ace tells me as he gives me a genuine smile. I go inside my house as I hear Ace drive away. Got my cheeks hurt from smiling so much.
"Sofia I'm freaking out, what the hell do I wear to a football game? Then I'm going to go to a party right after. Oh my god, I usually have a stylist pick clothes for me but this, this is stressful. Sofia remind me to give Jenna a tip because god how does she do this." I ramble as I look through my clothes.
"Hunny, you need to breathe, just wear a simple dress. It's just a high school party, it's not that big of a deal." Sofia says.
"Okay.. okay I can do this," I say as I stare at a simple maroon dress.
"Alright Mia, I'm gonna go, BUT YOU BETTER TELL ME HOW THIS PARTY GOES BECAUSE IF IT TURNS OUT AMAZINGLY THEN I MIGHT AS WELL DISGUISE MY SELF AND FLY MY ASS DOWN TO VIRGINIA." Sofia screams and then she hangs up.
I sigh and start to get ready. My grandparents are out on a dinner date because well, I kind of made them. They do so much for me so I wanted them to go out on the town. Spend some quality time with each other. Dad just came home and he is currently watching a football game on the TV, I told him to come with me to the high school game but he says it's too 'Amateur' for him. I put a little bit of makeup and curl my wig.
I hear knocks at the door and I run to the door. As I open the door, I see Ace in his Varsity letterman's jacket and his hair is slicked back a bit.
He smiles at me and says, "Wow Maya, you look good."
Dad comes behind me and glares at him and goes, "Ace Andrews, what a pleasure to see you."
"Oh, Mr Williams.. I did not you know still live in this house. I'm just taking your niece to the game and a party afterwards. Don't worry, I will bring her home at 11pm." Ace says as he reaches out his hand and dad shakes his hand without breaking eye contact.
"Oh right.. my niece, well make sure you protect her from those drunk ass teenagers." He says.
"You got it sir," Ace says as he looks at me.
"So Maya, you ready to go?" He says as he holds out his hand and I gladly grab.
"Yep, see you later Po- Uhm uncle," I say as I walk away.
We talk to his car and he opens the door for me. I thank him and get into the car as he closes the door behind me and runs to the drivers seat.
"So is my lucky charm ready to give me some luck tonight," he says as he starts the car and starts to drive to school.
"I'm anything but luck," I giggle which causes him to chuckle.
"So.. is Mia your cousin?" He asks as he gives me a curious glance.
"Uh.. yea but she is in Australia at the moment." I say as I look out the window.
"Does she ever mention about coming back to Virginia?" He asks me as he gives me a hopeful glance.
"Uhm.. yea she has always wanted to come here to visit family and friends but her mom never lets her." I say as I look at him. He smiles as he parks the car in the school parking lot.
"You should tell her that I miss her," he says as he gets out of the car.
God I hope he didn't see me blush..
