*******So in addition to the spacing issues, I discovered that my spell check in now on the fritz. I am very sorry for the many errors. I tried to catch as many as I could, but I am sure it is riddled with them. I bought a new program, so I will be installing that soon and hopefully it will fix the issues (especially the spacing issue, since I can't fix what I cannot see). I was going to wait to upload until I installed it....but I couldn't. So I hope no one minds.
Again I am very sorry. ********
Chapter 9
"He is my friend and I don't want to see him poisoned by you. Also you have only 17 minutes, is your report done?"
"Oh...Always reminding me of cruel reality." Maya ran his fingers through his hair with more than a touch of vanity. "You are just jealous of me."
"What are you going on about? Something wrong with your brain?" Liv sneered with a hint of a smile.
Maya arched a brow inconfidence, "Everyone is jealous of my hair."
Liv was speechless.
The base is quite boring, since it is a research base there are only a few stationed soldiers.
Xiao Yan slept until lunch was over. As the only survivor inhis class, he has no one to talk to or feel comfortable with. He can only wait until he is transferred back to the Shire.
By the time he made it to the mess hall, there were only a few people remaining. The quiet made Xiao feel even more awkward.
A pair of hands wrapped around his eyes and a teasing voice spoke from close to Xiao's ear,
"Guess who?"
"Guess who..."
"Liv?" XiaoYan answered doubtfully. Liv didn't seem to be the type who would make such a joke, but that voice was definitely Liv's.
"Did you miss me?" the voice stretched into a drawl and Xiao's breath caught. He could feel the person's body heat as they leaned closer. Their hot breath swept across and brushed against his lips.
"You are not Liv."
Xiao Yan clasped the other person's wrist, attempting to loosen the hold. A low mocking laugh hung in the air.
"So who do you think I am?"
" Maya."
"Hmm. I thought I had mimiced Liv's voice perfectly."
The hand on Xiao's eyes loosened and in front of him was a handsome man dressed in a black combat uniform. Looking up at his face, it was indeed Maya. His laughing face was unable to disguise his sharp temperment.
Lifting his leg, he sat down on the table and looked down at Xiao Yan, "Hey you look bored here, sure you don't want to date me?"
The tight combat suit hugged Maya's sturdy body and perfect musculature. When he lifted his hand, he imitated a shooting gesture at Xioa's nose. As he did so, XiaoYan could see his broad shoulders rippling. How had he imagined this guy was a sexy female? It is just too outrageous.
"Um...no..no..."Xiao Yan lifted his plate and prepared to stand up when Maya held his shoulders down.
Under such extraordinary strength Xiao looked as though he were exerting none at all. He couldn't move a single muscle.
"Now my dear, everything Liv said about me is nothing more than rumor."
Xiao Yan looked around and realized that the officers that were previously in the hall had all left, his heart ran cold. Maya was clearly exerting his dominance over him.
"At this moment, it doesn't seem like it is just a rumor." Xiao didn't dare look at Maya. He knew he had to leave the area Maya occupied immediately. Otherwise his weak self control could lead him right into Maya's tempting trap.
"Trust me, being with me will definitely be the most memorable experience of your life."Maya licked Xiao Yan, lightly nibbling on his earlobe.
Xiao Yan attempted to shrug Maya off, his whole body was trembling, his heart was beating out of his chest and his breath was becoming more ragged.
He knew that Maya was repeating the same tricks and he suspected that soon his hormones would elicit a seductive illusion. He could only concentrate on his thumping heart, wishing Maya would not force him to accept his seduction.
Suddenly a strong force took ahold of Xiao Yan's right arm, tearing him from his seat, the dishes clattered loudly to the floor.
His hazy thoughts suddenly ordered and Xiao Yan found that he had been moved away from the dining table. Maya, who was still perched on the table, had a surprised look on his face. He carefully and seriously stood up. His eyes were focused behind Xiao's shoulder. His previously teasing scorn was replaced with a solemn tone, "Boss."
XiaoYan's shoulders twitched in surprise, he instantly recalled his broken shoulder and his heart jumped at the painful memory. He didn't dare turn around until that chilled voice began to sound through the hall.
"Maya, the paramilitary school was attacked on platform 62. Three class A researchers are awaiting rescue."
"I'll go now." Mayaquickly exited the dining hall.
Xiao Yan, who previously had no idea how he was going to rid himself of that bothersome guy, found his problem immediately solved.
But now...there was another larger problem to solve behind him...Heine Burton.
"Follow me."
Before he even had a chance to glimpse his face, Heine had already turned and was walking away.
Xiao Yan silently grumbled to himself, Such a commanding tone. Even if your rank is Colonel, I am a student of the Academy of Science, I am not under your jurisdiction.
However, Xiao Yan didn't dare voice his grievances. He quietly followed Heine through a long hallway. As they continued walking, he felt his anxiety grow.
What does he want him to do?
This is the first time that Xiao Yan has witnessed Heine walking with a relaxed casual stride. Each step he takes is full of indescribable strength and elegant grace.
Heine stopped at the door of a research room and unlocked it by pressing his fingerprints against the panel.
A secured research lab?
Xiao Yan is unsure if he isqualified to follow him inside, he is only a lowly class B student.
"I don't like to repeat an order."
Xiao hurridly stepped into the room.
The lights flickered on as the door opened and Xiao discovered that it wasn't a research room at all, but rather a room for weapon repair. Numerous specialty cold weapons were stored in the room. Reaching for one, he noticed his fingers activated a display hologram detailing the names, users and damaged portions of the weapons. The damaged weapons are many, telling the story of zombies that have met the cold sharp edge of these blades.
"Repair them."
"Ha?" Xiao Yan froze.
With no further instruction, Heine left the room.
When the sliding door closed, Xiao Yan almost screamed in frustration.
Why do I have to do this? I am on leave. Why should I use my free time to repair these weapons? Aren't there personnel whose jobs are dedicated to cold weapon repair? Why me? Should something so important really be entrusted to a roookie?
.
Ah...Xiao Yan's head is spinning as he frantically tried to process how to tackle the task. There are thousands of damaged weapons stored in the room.
Picking up a rotary dart, he begins to fantasize that he is hurling it at Heine Burton. The rotary dart is an effective weapon. The darts spin out as its sharp edges eject into the air, upon contact with a zombie the sharp edges scatter apart. Looking at it, he realizes his ability to repair these weapons is quite poor.
The whole idea is ludicrous. But if he were to challenge Heine's order, or do a badjob... If such a face off between him and Burton were to occur, all Xiao could do was stretch his head out for Burton to twist it off.
No. It would be more gruesome than that. He would tear out every bone in his body, forcing Xiao Yanto listen to each one snap under his hands.
Xiao Yan began to feel quite nervous, he really didn't want to die in such a way.
He didn't want to die at all!!
He must concentrate on repairing the more than a thousand pieces of weaponry.
When a man is determined to accomplish something, his will to focus is astonishing. He first repaired the rotary dart. This weapon was made of high density titanium, it is not neccessary to reforge the old metal, but it is very diffcult to refine. Luckily, the rapid development of various synthetic materials can be used to manufacture parts to strengthen the body of the weapon.
The rotating high density titanium alloy dart is quite the cumbersome name, so the special forces refer to them as Silver Wings. Xiao was currently repairing his 12 Silver Wing weapon, the owner of this particular one is Liv.
Thinking of Liv and her heroics he wanted to do something for her, even if it was just a small thing. At the prospect of helping Liv, Xiao felt energized at the task ahead. The biggest problem with this batch of Silver Wings is that they cannot be accurately aimed nor re-used. This Silver Wing had a damaged positioning system and inability to recall the small blades back to the weilder. Xiao analyzed the problem and fixed it, then adjusted each blade's spacing, enhancing its destructive force.
After using the weapon in simulation, he discovered that the attack performance had improved by 5%. Xiao felt pride in this small achievement.
He was not aware that every lab is equiped with an observation room. Colonel Raven stood in front of the glass, his arms folding and mused aloud, "You know that once the military has given orders, the Special Forces will carry out the mission and the Academy will send tech soldiers along."
"So?" Heine voice sounded detached and uninterested.
"It means that for tomorrow's mision, I have to assign a technical soldier to you."
"I will not be responsible for their safety."
Colonel Raven tapped the observation glass and smiled, "How about I send Xiao Yan?"
Heine, who had just reached the door, suddenly stilled and furrowed his brow, his expression a bit forlorn. "He is just a student."
"All of them are reserves, and your 'Im not in charge of their safety' attitude is the reason no technical soldiers want to work with your troops. However...you have personally saved Xiao Yan, you won't watch him die so easily."
Before Raven had finished his sentence, Heine was already walking out the door.
"Colonel Burton! I like this rookie. Remember to bring him back alive!"

At the Special Forces training session, Mayas screams loudly reverberated through the gym.
"Boss!! Stop! My arm! ARM!"
Maya was pinned tothe floor, he arms wrenched back so far they had dislocated. Heine's left knee was pressing down on his spine with such force that Maya was certain he would be crushed if he tried to move.
The coldly impassive face of Heine lowered, no ripple of expression disturbing it. His movements were accurate and ruthless.
"I'm going to die, Boss! I'm really going to die!! Maya's eyes were brimming with tears.
Mark squatted on the floor, his chin resting on his hand. "Maya has been brutalized quite a bit lately, did something happen with his hair again?"
"That guy, he'd give up his life over his hair." Liv whined.
"Hey its just hair, he is a man!" Mark shook his head, "If he doesn't want the boss to pick on him, I suggest he cut it."
"Perhaps, the reason is not about his hair..." Liv sighed as Maya's left leg was also dislocated by Heine. His screams were so loud Liv blocked her ears with her fingers.
