Looking at the situation again, it seems that it'd be best to wait. No use in rushing and killing someone if they ain't a threat. I keep my focus on the buyers bodyguards, watching their hand movements and making sure none of them do anything sudden. I keeps myself ready to attack, but I don't make it obvious. I keep my hand off my weapon, but I make sure I'm mentally prepared to grab it if necessary. I take my mind off my hearing and focus on my vision and reflexes.
Before I know, the deal is done. We hand over the drugs and Cain takes the suitcase with the money. He checks it and nods as he sees the cash inside. Waiting paid off... no one was shot and the deal was made smoothly. I guess there are times where I don't need to be so paranoid.
After making the deal, we headed back to the Blood Angel hangout. Cain paid me two hundred dollars before I headed back home. I wasn't sure how much he sold the weed for, but I didn't bother asking. I just assumed that it was a lot since the bag looked pretty full.
That was the last thing on my mind though. I just wanted to get back home. I wanted to see Yuri and maybe watch some TV with her or something. I just felt like relaxing.
The house was quiet when I entered, but that wasn't unusual. I headed to the guest room and saw Yuri reading. She was dressed in her white sweater, ready for the day.
"Hey Yuri."
She looked up from her book and smiled. "Hey Danny."
"What have you been up to?"
"I've just been reading. How about you?"
"I've just been tending to some business with a friend. What about you?"
"I've just been reading." She closed her book. "You seem to go out with your friends a lot. What exactly do you do?"
"Ah well, I guess I just do small jobs and such. Making money and such."
"What job did you do today?"
How would Yuri react to me making a drug deal? Maybe it'd be best if I just kept that to myself...
"Well, I helped my friend with a sale. I used to sell phones and accessories in school, so they wanted some advice on how to start something similar. Of course, they go to another school. Otherwise, I would've just created competition."
"Ah well, that's pretty interesting."
"I mean, I guess. So like, uh, you wanna maybe hang out or something?"
She smiled. "What did you have in mind?"
"I'm not sure really, but let's try to do something exciting. I want my readers to stay interested."
What I said seemed to confuse her. I actually felt confused as well. What was I talking about.
"Well, uh, okay. But you know this place better than I do, so I think it would make sense that you pick out something for us to do."
"Ah well, that's true."
I wasn't sure if she meant "this place" as my house or as the city. I just knew that I didn't feel like relaxing anymore.
I thought about it for a moment. What fun thing could we do? Besides all the crime, not much really happened in my town.
I mean, I guess I could take her to the park. It's not really the definition of exciting, but I know that —————— really enjoyed it.
Yeah, let's just go to the park. I could go ahead and show her that nice spot by the pond.
"How does going to the park sound?"
"That sounds nice."
"Alright then. You wanna go now? Or maybe later?"
"I mean, I'm not really doing much at the moment. I'd like to go now if you're okay with it."
"Yeah, I can do now."
I put my pistol in the dresser and grabbed my car keys. We got into the car and I drove us to the park. As I was driving however, Yuri had some questions.
"Hey Danny, I had been wondering. Why do you have a pistol?"
"Oh well, I carry it for self defense. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I'm sure you've heard that a bunch of times, but it's true."
"But you left it at your house..."
"Oh well, I don't think I'll be needing it on our date. I'll just stick with the regular pocket knife."
"Have you ever had to use it?"
I felt my heart drop after hearing her question. I mean, lying could help keep us out of an awkward situation, but I didn't feel good lying to her again. And well, telling the truth had it's obvious downsides.
Fuck it. I'm lying.
"Nope, and I hope I never have to."
"Well that's good, taking the life of another human being could leave someone with terrible trauma. I'm glad you don't have to deal with that."
"Yeah... so am I."
I kept silent for the rest of the car ride. I raised the radio so that Yuri could listen to it and in hopes that she wouldn't ask anymore questions.
After a couple of minutes, we got to the park.
