Hey everyone and WELCOME to the third episode of the SECOND VOLUME of RWBY: (Genius Gamer Shadow) Ex-Aid Reader x Ruby Rose! So, to recap once again, I DO NOT OWN RWBY AND I DO NOT OWN KAMEN RIDER EX-AID!! RWBY is owned by RoosterTeeth and Kamen Rider Ex-Aid is owned by Toei. So, now sit back, enjoy and LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!!!!
*Hits gong real hard*
My POV:
I tapped my fingers on my table quite impatiently as I wait for Professor Port's lesson to end as tells one of his stories yet again and I've completely lost interest at it, surprisingly. I turned to look over at my teammates only to find them dozing off.
Me: Mitchell! Will you stop falling asleep? Professor Port's gonna give you detention.
I yelled in a hushed tone as I shook Mitchell, who is sitting right next to me, trying to wake him up. He lifts her head up from his arms, his eyes still half-closed from drowsiness.
Mitchell: Ugh..... I can't help it, Cap. It's just... I mean, come on. We haven't had a decent rest last night. Look at Rachel! Even Tenka!
I gave my other teammates another look before sighing in disappointment as I pinch the bridge of my nose.
Me: (sighs) What am I gonna do with you guys?
I took a quick glance at my wristwatch to find out that there was now one minute left of the lesson. Lifting my head up from my watch to see Jaune slide over to where was is sitting Weiss. I smirked.
Me: This should be interesting.....
I can't actually see the reason why he would fall for her, but to be honest with myself, I wouldn't feel too bad if she finally said yes to one of his pick-up lines. It's evident to everyone except Weiss, which Jaune is head-over-heels for her; and it's actually quite nearly sad how she completely and intentionally ignores him.
Jaune: So, Weiss, y'know, uh, I-I was thinking after this, maybe we could go grab a bite to eat?
He turns to the teacher for a second time before then turning back around again.
Jaune: And, uh um, I-I've got two tickets to that new Spruce Willis movie, if you wanna make the trip to Vale. I hear it's awesome.
He pauses momentarily as his words still have no effect.
Jaune: Aaaand maybe after that, we could study together? I mean, you're smart and I'm, uh... Y'know.
I know how much attention Weiss was going to give him, and yet I thought it was a good attempt. He was trying to propose a date, and offered an activity regarding about his intellect. Just then the bell that always signify the end of a class rang, interrupting Professor Port in his story/lesson. When my team heard the bell rang, they literally shot up from their seats.
Port: And then I— Oh. Timed that one wrong, I guess. Well, the stunning conclusion to this story will have to wait. Until next time!
Jaune: Weiss? Uh... Did you hear me?
Weiss: (Not even looking at Jaune as she walks away.) No, no, no, yes.
Me: (Inner thoughts) Now that was just cold!
Upon hearing this, Jaune groans and does a face-plant into his desk. As for me, my whole team, and the rest of Team RWBY walks out of class behind him, Yang ruffles Jaune's hair without even looking. while I patted him sympathetically on the shoulder.
Yang: One day.
Me: Yeah, dude, one day.
With that we all exited the class with Ruby and the rest of the team and headed to their dorm room to get ready.
When we all got to Team RWBY's dorm, we all prepare for the investigation on the White Fang's recent activities. The girls had been getting busy readying themselves as they had put on some less admirable clothes than their regular battle garments that they usually wore. But that didn't include yourself as well.
As usual, I am wearing my signature trench coat. Underneath it was a blue long-sleeved, collared shirt, and a orange waistcoat. I wore a pair of dark pants, and my favorite pair of sneakers.
As for Mitchell, He wears a white singlet and a silver-blue dress coat. Wears long jeans to cover his yellow sneakers. He even have some armour on his legs as well as sharp talons showing there too, to cover his jeans and his sneakers.
Rachel's outfit was actually quite revealing. She is wearing a tube top, which exposes her midriff and a good view of her cleavage, underneath a short jacket, similar to what Mitchell is wearing, but the body and collar are red in color. She wears a pair of red-violet short shorts, and black thigh high, lace up, boots. She did her hair in a ponytail fashion, her bangs side-swept.
Mitchell was polishing his wings and his weapon (A/N: I seriously dont know how he does it....), as he sits at Blake's bed. I am currently strapping my utility belt as Rachel is doing the laces on her thigh high boots. It was then I noticed that her outfit was actually quite revealing.
Me: Rachel, don't you think that's a tad bit..... revealing?
Rachel gave me a confused look before she gives me a playful smirk.
Rachel: Enjoying the view, Doc?~
Red hues instantly appeared on my cheeks as I turned my gaze elsewhere.
Me: N-No! W-Why would I? And besides, I have a girlfriend, Rachel. Don't even start.
I said as I sat atop beside Ruby. When I did, she instantly held in to my arm, with pout plastered on her face. I chuckled amusingly at her behavior as I started removing her jealousy by starting up a small conversation with her before.....
Blake: I thought that class would never end.
Ruby: Alright guys, today's the day! The investigation begins!
Ruby suddenly jumped down from her bunk bed, almost hitting the white-haired heiress under her.
Weiss: I'm glad to see we're taking this so seriously.
Yang: Hey, we've got a plan. That's....moderately serious.
Rachel: Uh-huh, since Tenka is here, he would definitely say this is actually more like a thesis.
Ruby: Riiiiight.... So, Everyone remember their roles?
Weiss: You and I will head to the CCT and check the Schnee records for any other Dust robberies or inconsistencies. Seeing as I'm in the family it shouldn't be a problem
Blake: The White Fang has regular faction meetings to hand out orders and recruit new members. If Mitchell and I can get in, we can hopefully find out what their planning.
Me: Tenka told me earlier and about an informant of his that called up. He told me to meet him in an old, abandoned building on the outskirts of Vale.
Tenka: Exactly. Yang, you know your role?
Yang: Rachel and I have a 'friend' on the shady side of town that typically knows everything going on in Vale. Getting information out of him shouldn't be too hard
Me: Huh??? (Looks at Rachel)
Rachel: I will tell you later.
Ruby: Great, we'll meet tonight near Yang to go over what we found. Lets do this!
Tenka: Then let's Rev. up, and Role Out!!
???: Yeah!
We all turned to the sudden voice we heard and saw Sun hanging by his tail outside the open window of my dorm room. Me and the rest of the team jump back out of surprise.
Blake: Sun?!
Rachel: How the heck did you get up there?!
Sun: Ah, its easy; I do it all the time!
Weiss: You do what?!
Mitchell: Y-You shouldn't make that a habit, Sun.
Sun: I climb trees all the time! And love the new outfit, Rachel, by the way.
Rachel blushes and hides her face from him.
Rachel: T-Thanks....
Without reacting to Weiss' scowl, and Mitchell's protective glare from boys stealing his best friend, Sun flips into the dorm room.
Sun: So, are we finally getting back at that Torchwick guy?
Blake: WE are going to investigate the situation: As a team.
Me: And as Tenka would've quoted: United with another.
Tenka: Correct, Doctor.
Ruby: Sorry Sun, we don't want to get friends involved if we don't have to.
Sun: Pffft, that's dumb! You should always get friends involved, that's why I brought Neptune!
He says this as he Gestures out the window. Me and the girls lean out the window on top of one another cartoon-style to see the aforementioned teammate of Sun's standing outside, cool as can be, as he stands on a ledge.
Neptune: Sup?
Tenka: Don't mind me asking but...How did you even get up there?
Neptune: I have my ways. Seriously though, can we come in? We're like, really high up right now
Me: I can tell. We're like three stories up high.
I shook my head, rather amused, as I held my hand out to Neptune, which he grabbed rather tightly, and pulled him into the room safely.
Neptune: Thanks, man.
Me: Don't mention it.
The group are now standing in a circle as I began laying down the new plan.
Me: Okay, slight change. Number 1: Sun, you go with Blake and Mitchell to the faction meeting. Since you are all Faunus and all. By the way, White Fang members wear masks, you got that covered, Blake?
I asked as she answered with a nod.
Me: Good. I'm going to call CR to get Emu to tag along with me to see our informant. There is no telling if our informant will do something nasty if I am alone; Number 2: Neptune, you can go with Yang and Rachel. Everyone good?
Neptune winks at Weiss as he is pushed past by Ruby.
Weiss: Actually.... Ruby, why don't you go with Yang? After all, she is your sister.
Ruby pushed Neptune, who is stiff as a board, up next to Yang. When she is done pushing him, he rocks back and fourth looking nervous. Yang and Rachel put their hands on either sides of his shoulder to stop him from rocking.
Ruby: But, Weiss, who would go with you, then?
Weiss: Well... I guess Neptune could come with me.
Neptune puts on a suave look and points at Weiss as the team leader cracks up.
Ruby: Hahaha, nah!
Weiss is obviously less than amused, yet is powerless to stop Ruby from pulling her by the scruff of her outfit out the door. Weiss sticks her arms out fruitlessly trying to get back to Neptune as she does.
Weiss: But! But!
Tenka: I will go with you and and Emu, just in case, Doc.
Me: Alright. So, we all good to go?
Yang: Ready as I'll ever be!
Rachel: All set, Cap!
Mitchell: Yeah!
Blake: Ready!
Me: Then, let's DO THIS THING!!!
With an uproar of 'Yeah', we all went to our separate paths.
TIMESKIP.........
Emu, Tenka and I had just arrived at the location Tenka gave me. The building was pretty much ran down, and obviously abandoned. The building stood 6 stories high, and by the looks of it, it used to be an old apartment building. With a deep breath, I transformed into my snow form and slowly flew up the building with him and Emu, on our way to the top floor, where we are suppose to meet the informant up there anyways. I slowly glided inside the apartment room, and turn back into my original form. Me, Emu and I scanned the room that was dimly lit by a candelabra on top of a molded coffee table. There was a stack of Dust vials and rounds near it. Just then, I began hearing footsteps. Cautiously, I slowly unsheathed Parablade from my back. Then I heard a voice that was incredibly way too familiar.
???: Mr. Kaito?
I whirled around in an instant, my axe colliding to the blade-like trident. I had a seething look in my eyes as I turned to the mysterious person, but my look changed that of a surprised and utterly shocked one. Standing right before me, weapons interlocked against each other, was a orangish golden haired man in his middle 30's, with a pair of piercing emerald eyes. A look of fierce was inside them, but soon turned that of the same reaction I am currently having.
Me: Dad?!
MEANWHILE.....
3rd Person's POV:
In place where a monumental tower that looms over the sparse trees growing around the crossroads below.
Ruby: Woooow! I forget how big the Transmit tower looks up close!
Weiss: You should see the one in Atlas!
Ruby: That was the first one, right?
Weiss: Correct.
Weiss and Ruby are seen walking down the path towards the building.
Weiss: Atlas developed the Cross Continental Transmit System to allow the four kingdoms to communicate with one another. It was their gift to the world after the Great War. Out of nowhere, Ruby begins acting high and mighty.
Ruby: Oooh, look at me! My name's Weiss! I know facts! I'm rich!
For a moment, she snorts into her hands at Weiss' frown.
Weiss: Don't be a pest! Besides, the only reason we're here is because you like the tower so much! We could have just as easily made a call from the library!
Ruby: I know, but it's so coool! Ooh, I'm going to take a picture!
She grabs her Scroll from a pocket on her clothes, but in her excitement, the device is launched from her hands, bouncing along the pavement until it lands at someone's feet. and that someone was none other than Penny herself.
Penny: Oh! You dropped this.
She picks up the Scroll and extends it towards the clumsy teen, who was shocked at her sudden appearance.
Ruby: Penny?!
Penny was clearly surprised at the sudden meeting as well.
Penny: Uuuh...
Ruby: Where have you been? We haven't seen you since that night at the docks!
Penny: S-Sorry. I think you're confused.
She suddenly hiccups, throwing the Scroll into Ruby's hands.
Penny: Uh... I've got to go!
She turns quickly and walks away. Weiss, utterly confused, turns to her red-caped partner.
Weiss: What was that about?
Ruby: I don't know, but I'm going to find out.
Ruby starts walking in Penny's direction as she shouts back to her partner.
Ruby: You go make your call! I'll meet up with you later!
Weiss: Wait!
But seeing the futility of stopping her teammate, she lowers her hand and sighs angrily. Ruby began running up to Penny as she descends the steps until she gets in front of the non-eccentric redhead.
Ruby: Penny! Where have you been? It's been weeks!
Penny: There seems to be a... misunderstanding.
Ruby: What?!
Penny continues to walk away. But Ruby slides down the rail next to Penny.
Ruby: Penny... Is everything okay?
Penny continues forward without reaction, prompting Ruby to grab her by the arm, stopping her effectively and as the latter finally listens.
Ruby: Penny, please stop! Look, I don't know what's wrong, but you have to listen to me! Those guys we fought at the docks, we think they're up to something big, something bad! I need you to tell me what happened to you that night! Please... As a friend.
Penny, sighing, then glancing to her sides swiftly, walks over to Ruby's side and leans in close.
Penny: It isn't safe to talk here.
Penny looks around suspiciously, much to the young leader's confusion.
Weiss' POV:
I walked through the grand, glowing lobby of the tower with pride, avoiding the central terminal and heading straight for the elevator doors, which slide open automatically and close when she's inside. The voice of the CCT AI is projected from a panel near the door.
CCT AI: Hello. Welcome to the CCT. How may I help you?
Me: I'd like to go to the communications room, please.
CCT AI: Absolutely. Could you please place your Scroll on the terminal to verify your identity?
I retrieve my scroll from my pocket and placed it as directed.
CCT AI: Perfect! Thank you, Miss Schnee.
Upon the elevator's ascent, my expressions shift from pleasant to serious. Upon entering the room, four symbols are seen on a computer - twin axes and wreaths, three flying swords pointing down, a spear and shield inside a fragmented circle, and a precise winged shape. Beeps are heard before the projection speaks in a polite manner.
CCT AI: Welcome to the Beacon Cross Continental Transmit center. How may I help you?
Me: I need to make a call to Schnee Company World Headquarters in Atlas.
CCT AI: Absolutely. If you could head over to Terminal 3, I'll patch you through.
Me: Thank you!
I smiled and nod before walking over to my assigned cubicle-like computer, passing a few Beacon students in uniform - one of which is talking to her mother and asking how things are going back in Signal Academy. I sat at my own display, taking a deep, unhappy breath to prepare for the call ahead. The face of a short-haired brunette appears on the monitor with the Schnee snowflake rotating behind her. She does not realize who she is talking to until she looks up.
Schnee Corp Operator: Thank you for calling the Atlas- Oh! Miss Schnee! Good afternoon! Would you like me to patch you through to your father? I think your sister Winter might be here as well.
Me: (pleasantly) No, thank you! I was actually wondering if you could find some files for me. I've compiled a short list.
I produced my Scroll, placing it into a slot on the keyboard, creating a series of noises as the Operator looks at the data from her side of the screen.
Schnee Corp Operator: I see. If you don't mind... what may I ask is this for?
I shrug uncomfortably as I answers.
Me: School project.
Schnee Corp Operator: (nervously) Um... There are some sensitive documents on this list, ma'am.
Me: Well, then, I'll be sure to treat them with care.
Schnee Corp Operator: Right... Very well. The data is being transferred to your Scroll now.
Me: Wonderful! That will be all, then.
Schnee Corp Operator: Are you sure you wouldn't like me to patch you through to your father before you go?
I am on the verge of losing my smile, but quickly but swiftly replaces it.
Me: Yes, I'm sure.
Schnee Corp Operator: Well, then... Have a nice day!
The call is dropped, and so too is my happy act, seen in the screen's reflection.
MEANWHILE......
Penny stands alone near a two-story building with patio furniture and she is looking around nervously when a hand grabs her shoulder, causing her to jump. She turns to see Ruby grinning. She smiles in return. The scene moves to the two strolling down the street.
Penny: I wish I could help you, Ruby, but I don't know anything about those men.
Ruby: Well, what happened to you that night? We were all together, and then you just disappeared! Were you kidnapped?
Penny: Oh, no! Nothing like that!
Ruby: Then where did you go?
Penny: I've never been to another kingdom before. My father asked me not to venture out too far, but... You have to understand, my father loves me very much; he just worries a lot.
Ruby: Believe me, I know the feeling. But why not let us know you were okay?
Penny: I... was asked not to talk to you. Or Weiss. Or Blake. Or Yang. Anybody, really.
Ruby: Was your dad that upset?
Penny: No, it wasn't my father...
Before she can continue, she and Ruby hear the sound of megaphones announcing something, turning around the corner to look at the platform in the center of a plaza where General Ironwood is seen before six AK-130 Androids, who are in turn standing in front of two large metal storage cases with the spear-and-shield emblem on their doors.
Ironwood: As we have all known, the AK-130 has been a standard security model of Remnant for several years, and they have done a fine job. Wouldn't you agree? Wouldn't you agree?
The clapping of the gathered audience causes the drones to take a jerky bow.
Ironwood: But... we all know as well that the kingdom of Atlas is a kingdom of innovation, and 'fine'... Well, that's just not good enough, is it? So, I'm presenting... the new and improved Atlesian Knight-200!
Ironwood produces a small remote of some kind from his trench coat, presses a button, and the doors to the cases roll up, and six new, bulkier, shinier automatons stand at attention before knocking their obsolete predecessors down to the applause of the watchers
Ironwood: Smarter, sleeker, and admittedly, a little less scary. Don't you think?
The robots flex and pose as a demonstration.
Ironwood: That's not all, these flawless models will become active later this year, but they won't be alone! Now, the Atlesian Military, and personally, has always supported the idea of removing men from the dangers of the battlefield. However, there are still many situations that will undoubtedly require... a human touch.
The last line draws Ruby's attention.
Penny: Ruby..?
Ironwood: So, our kingdom's greatest minds, in cooperation with the Schnee Dust Company, are proud to introduce... the Atlesian Paladin!
Ironwood presses another button from his small remote, and a hologram of a robotic white behemoth, featuring hinged piston legs, large guns for hands, and a rectangular head, standing at least twice as tall as the Knights below it.
Ironwood: Although, we couldn't have this magnificent creation here for you today, but these mechanized battle suits will be seen defending the borders of our kingdom within the year!
Ruby: (hunched in awe) Whoa...
Penny: Ruby? Maybe we should go somewhere else.
At the side of the stage, two armored soldiers see Penny, pointing her out and calling in backup. Penny backs away and then breaks into a dead run, which snaps Ruby out of her weapon-awe-induced stupor.
Ruby: Penny! Wait! Where are you going?
Ruby turns to look back at the soldiers chasing after her friend, and realizing Penny's situation, swiftly follows her in an attempt to catch up down the winding alley.
Atlas Soldier: Down here! She went this way!
Penny and Ruby run across the street with the soldiers following them, though a honking car nearly runs one over. He manages to brace his hands against the hood, which somehow stops the vehicle, and his partner runs along after the girls.
Ruby is still trying to catch up with Penny, but a high stack of crates on a flimsy support is easily cut down by Ruby's weapon, causing a wooden avalanche of boxes to block the path. Seeing Penny right ahead of her, Ruby leaps into the air and lands on the alley wall, ricocheting off to grab Penny around the middle.
Ruby: This way!
She grimaces before the two disappear in a flash of red and rose petals. She dashes away as fast as she can while carrying Penny, but the strain is too great, and they crash to the ground a short while later, with Ruby falling all the way into the street. She gets up slowly, and in her dazed state, she doesn't notice the large truck coming up from behind her until the honking is too late of a warning. She stands up just as she's about to be hit, but from out of nowhere, Penny pushes Ruby out of the way and holds her palms out.
In the split second where the two make contact, the ground beneath Penny cracks and crumbles into pieces, and the truck is lifted a little ways into the air by the girl's sheer strength. She puts it down, and the old man inside it stares in awe at the crumples in his hood, just like the Huntress who got saved.
Ruby: (eyes wide, terrified, uncertain) Penny..?
Penny: (to the shopkeep) Are you okay?
Shopkeep: (nodding, obviously scared) Uh-huh...
Penny backs away, looking at Ruby's frightened expression, then at the bystanders murmuring to each other in an attempt to understand what just happened. In her panic, she runs from the Atlas soldiers still chasing her down and bumps into Ruby, knocking the poor girl out of her stupor as her friend tries to get away again.
Ruby: Penny! Come back!
she starts going after Penny as the people look at the destruction Penny caused with her bare hands and the soldiers find they lost their target. Coming to a stop once she gets out of the alleyway, looking around for where to run next.
Penny: Um... Uh...
Ruby: Penny! Please! What is going on?! Why are you running? How did you do that?!
Penny: I-I can't! Everything's fine!
She was hiccuping with each lie that came out of her mouth.
Penny: I-I don't want to talk about it! *hiccup*
Ruby: Penny, if you can just tell me what's wrong, I can help you!
Penny: No! No, no! You wouldn't understand...
Ruby: Let me try! You can trust me!
She finally relents, as she comes up to Ruby's face desperately.
Penny: You're my friend, right? You promise you're my friend?!
She nods as she speaks softly.
Ruby: I promise.
Penny stays silent for a second, then, looking down at her hands....
Penny: Ruby... I'm not a real girl.
Penny shows Ruby the toll of stopping the truck that would have killed her: Parts of her palm's skin have ripped away, revealing the gray metal underneath. Penny stares sadly at Ruby's face, now completely astounded by her friend's secret.
Ruby: Oh.....
