Chapter 27- what are we having, an intervention?
Suddenly someone knocks really hard on my bedroom door and I gasp as I wake up and quickly sit on my bed.
I moan and look at the time and notice that it's three in the morning.
Who the fuck is banging on my door?
I groan as I hear the banging on my door once more, quite harder this time.
I sigh and slowly get up and start walking towards my door which is literally a million feet away from my bed.
As I'm walking, I finally reach the door, it feels like I just walked a whole marathon.
Someone bangs on the door, harder this time and I make a face and groan. I am going to kill Maria, my mom's assistant whose job is apparently to take care of me and not to knock on my door at three in the morning.
I open the door slowly as I close my eyes and yawn. "Holy fucking lord Maria, what do—"
I open my eyes and stop mid-sentence as I notice that it's not Maria at my bedroom door but my friends.
"Seriously?" I groan as I turn around and start walking to my bed.
"Venus, we need to talk," Kate starts and I scoff as I lay down on my bed and look at them who are currently standing across me.
"You didn't have to bring everyone just to talk to me," I reply back.
"They want to talk too."
"Actually, I think you also want to talk," Ian says.
"I don't want to. So if that's what you guys are here for then I'd like for you guys to leave because I want to sleep."
Maybe that will get them away from me.
"Why are you behaving this way Vee?" Ian asks, almost heartbroken by how I have been behaving.
"This isn't you and we know it," violet adds after a while.
"Guess it is me now," I reply back.
There is a moment of silence.
A pause.
"Vee, tell us what's wrong," Kate starts.
"You've been acting strange for last couple of days," Chris follows.
"This is not you Vee and we know it," Tyler says.
"We are here for you," Ian adds, softly.
"We want to help you Vee," violet also adds.
"What are we having here, an intervention about my behavior?" I ask.
"No. We are here because you have been acting strange. We want you to tell us what's wrong," Ian says in his usual soft voice and I sit up.
I look at them and sigh. I don't want to hurt you Ian but I will have to if I want you guys to hate me.
"Look Ian, I get that you guys think that way but maybe this is me," I say with a stern face. "You don't understand."
"Then make me understand," he says as he walks over to my bed and sits across me.
It's not that easy Ian.
He takes my hand and holds onto it. He looks up and his dark brown eyes meet my hazel ones. My body relaxes and face softens when I look into his eyes.
For a second I forget about all of my life problems and just sit there, looking into his eyes.
He was always the one who could pull me away from my depression. They all know he's the only one who could do it so it's an advantage for them.
Tears start to form in my eyes and I look down and blink as a drop falls on his hand. He pulls my chin up and I look into his eyes.
"This is the Venus we know and love," he says and cups my face in his hands. "Whatever it is that you think will drive us away from you, it won't. Trust me Venus, I will never let go of you at any cost."
As my eyes start forming tears, I close them and move closer to him as we sit down with our foreheads touching.
Suddenly I feel everyone forehead surrounding ours and I smile to myself.
However much I try to drive them away from me, I won't be able to. I think I should just open up about my problems because that is the only way.
I sniffle and pull away as I wipe away the tears rolling down my cheeks. I sigh deeply before looking at them all, who are also crying.
"Guys," I say as a tear rolls down my eyes.
They wipe away their tears and smile.
"I- I—" I sigh as I couldn't finish up my sentence.
Annoyed, another tear rolls down my eyes and I groan.
"You don't have to tell us now if you can't find the right words Vee. Just know, we are here until you feel better," Ian says and smiles.
"I don't- I don't know how to- tell you guys," I finally make out the sentence. "I am never out of words with you guys but- it's different."
"We know Vee."
I quickly look at Tyler who's looking down at me with his I-know-it-all face. "What?" I ask.
"We know you're struggling with something," he says and I sigh.
"Yes, indeed I am," I reply back.
I take a deep breath in. "There are couple of things I need to tell you guys but you have to promise me that you won't be mad."
"We would never," Kate says.
I sigh. "Promise me?"
She takes her index finger and touches my forehead with it twice and then holds her pinky in the air. "Promise."
I shake her pinky with mine and seal the promise. Everyone does the same think and then I sigh.
"I'm- I'm back on drugs," I confess and their eyes literally pop out and Kate gasps.
Again, they start speaking all at once.
Kate: is everything okay? Why did you start taking them?
Ian: you need to stop them right now Vee, you're not fighting me about it.
Tyler: why? Am I not hanging out enough with you?
Chris: you could stop it and we will make it end for you, don't worry.
Violet: you will get off it, trust me.
"Guys, I'm sorry," I apologize as tears start rolling down my eyes. "This is all my fault. Depression took over me when Liam left last year and I tried, I tried so hard but I couldn't stop myself."
"Shh," Ian says and pulls me into a hug. He holds onto the back of my head softly and I hug him tightly, holding onto his shirt.
"I didn't want you guys to think about me all the time. You guys don't deserve me," I cry in his arms as my teardrops fall on his shirt, wetting it.
"All you do is worry about me and I don't want that, so I thought—"
"—so you thought you could drive us away from you by saying harsh things?" Ian says as I nod and pull away.
"Oh Venus, you can't drive us away. Don't you see it? Those words don't hurt us but when you don't talk to us, it does," Ian says. "It hurts."
"I'm sorry," I say.
"Finally you're apologizing without being asked for it," Ian chuckles and I smile.
"I love you guys, so much that it hurts me to hurt you. I would never try to hurt you ever again," I say.
My love for them is endless, like the ocean.
"Vee, you don't need to apologize to us for anything. You were looking out for us and we were looking out for you. There's nothing to apologize about," Kate says and I smile.
"Venus, what is the other thing you wanted to tell us?" Ian asks and I sigh.
"Last week, I went to the doctor's," I start and Tyler gasps.
"Are you okay?" Tyler asks
"Of course she isn't, which is why she went to the doctor's," violet says.
"No I mean she never goes to the doctor's so she isn't fine. Or else why would she go to the doctor's?" Tyler explains.
"No. I went because I started having tremors," I say and I see concern on their faces.
"Tremors?" Ian asks.
"They were caused by my drug overdose and alcohol abuse. My emotional state and depression made it worse," I explain.
"What did the doctor say?" Ian quickly asks.
"They gave me some medications. They also suggested seeing a physical therapist. It's nothing major which is why I won't need any surgeries," I answer Ian.
"I'll take you to the therapist everyday," Ian suggests.
I groan. "No Ian."
"I'm not listening to you Venus. You will do as I say," he says and I give up debating him about it.
"Fine," I reply back.
"I'm happy that you told us about it," Kate says.
"Promise me, you guys won't worry about me," I ask and they sigh.
"Promise," They say in unison.
I smile and they pull me into a heart warming hug.
Maybe I shouldn't worry about them worrying about me. Instead of driving them away, having them by my side with all of this will help me.
