"Veronica Parker, it's your turn, go give your introduction," Mrs. Bramble said. I have always hated this kind of discussions where we have to give our introduction. I mean, not that I have stage fear or something, but I don't really know what to tell about myself.
"I am Veronica Parker. I am 16 years old, studying in St. Samaritan James Mali school. I love to read and write. I also like traveling like my parents do, so I keep on visiting new places and discovering new things. I do cook a lot because my parents are always working so I keep on cooking new things for myself."
"Good, Samantha you're next."
Thank god she stopped me in between or else I would have been blank just in a few more seconds. I was walking down the corridor, looking at all those people and their faces. Some people were confused as to why they were in school, some people were in love with people they can't get and then there were my two best friends Clara and Alisha, waving at me as if I was some kind of kid who got lost in a crowd of people I despise.
"Hey you too, what's up" I said and looked up to Clara who looked if she would burst out of anger.
"Can you believe my parents are not allowing me to go to James party. Like, when it comes to my brother they don't even ask but for me everything is a straight 'NO' how's that fair?" she said slamming her books on the canteen table.
"Its ok car, your parents are just concerned about your safety that's it." Alisha said.
"Guess who doesn't have to care about these things? No parties, no drama." I said and got a deadly glace from both of them. Well yes, just because you are friends with literally the whole school doesn't means that you will go to parties and waste your time. My aim was different, it's either parties or working on my dreams and yes, I choose the latter.
We were sitting on the table and all around me I saw happy faces, people with Iphone's in their hands thinking they are so rich and not realizing their privilege's. I looked around and there he was, Kevin. everyone has that one guy in their school who loves to body shame people and make them feel like they are the worst people. That's him. He looked at me and smirked, I rolled my eyes. Of course, such guys always seem to know that you hate him. he walked towards me, 'Hey shawty, grew some inches yet?' as always, him commenting on my biggest insecurity. I ignored and went back to eating my fries.
"Hey, anyone got a bobby pin?" Clara asked.
I picked up my bag and searched for my pencil pouch, I looked everywhere but It wasn't in the bag. I was sure I had it in the last period. Oh god I must have forgotten it in the class. i got up and went back to class. I entered the om and of course the cool gangs here for there commentary. i ignored them and went to my desk. i picked up my pouch and suddenly it was alot more heavy. i open it and my blood literally started boiling. 'Height increasing medicine'
"Hey don't look so angry I am sure you were praying for this. see, now I fulfilled your wishes." it was Mike Kevin's best friend. I went up to him and looked at him with all the rage I had.
"Next time, you won't even be alive do to such pranks, so fucking back off. Got it?"
He was gonna say something but I turned around and left. Not gonna lie it hurts, it hurts that everyday you are told about a million times that you are not perfect. But my parents didn't give my birth to make me feel sorry for myself. I was walking towards my class while telling Clara what just happened and then we realized something. We were late, like really late.
"Let's go we will be late for our classes, well... we are already late," she said almost jumping while looking at her watch.
I practically ran towards the class. I was actually ten minutes late now, and I know Mr. woods, he hates people who are not punctual. Fuck, I am screwed.
I am standing at the entrance of the class and Mr. woods had started writing on the board.
"Oh look, who we have here. What took you so long to come to the class may I know?
"She was not able to reach the locker." someone shouted. Everybody in the class had started laughing.
"Okay class shut it down, you may come in Ms. Parker but don't be late the next time."
"Okay, I am dividing you into pairs for the next practical" Mr. wood shouted while I was talking to James who sat next to me. He is a topper, is always good to people and he is a really nice friend.
"So the first pair is..." he took out the chits he had made.
"Laila and Jake. second is..." he took out two more slips and starting pairing people.
"Who do you think will be your partner?" he said passing me the pen.
"I don't know, I hope someone good," I said shrugging. "What do you think? who will be your partner?"
"Someone intelligent, I don't want to do the work on my own like the last time," he said.
"Mike and Veronica." Mr. Woods shouted. I was blank for one moment and then I realized . What the heck? no god, please I don't wanna be his partner.
This day couldn't get worse.
