"Now who let you stow away on our ship."Chat pulls the black cat that stole some cheese from the kitchen, "Geez Plagg you stink."Chat commented as the black cat growled then pounced up his arms. They had finally passed the ship graveyard and were heading to their final destination to the Perla island of where the treasure stood.
"Marinette.." A voice said behind Chat as he started to overhear and glance behind him.
"Yes?" She says tiredly as she saw Chat glance at her then turn around.
"Are you okay? You look pale."Ivan said in a worried voice.
"Yes, yes. I'm okay." She says as she pushes herself to continue to swab the deck.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah."
"Well, okay. Let's just hurry up and finish mopping so we can rest."
Marinette smiled faintly as a reply. With a shrug, Ivan went back to what he was doing. She continued mopping for minutes till her body finally gave in and she passed out. Chat Noir didn't fail to catch her when he tried to. Chat Noir immediately brought her to the infirmary and laid her down on the bed. Almost all of the crew stopped what they were doing to go to the infirmary, but as soon as Nino had a look at her and said the girl would be fine, they went back to what they were doing. Adrien could see the worry in their eyes. They were starting to get attached to the girl and Adrien knew that even if they don't admit it themselves. He can see what they see of her. She was charming, graceful, pretty, brave, and kind. She also has pride, which gets her into trouble sometimes, like the fight from her second day at the ship. Although they are starting to get attached, they are still on their guard and keeping a close eye on Marinette. Adrien stayed in the infirmary even after Nino said she just needs to rest. Maybe it was because he just didn't want to go back to his job and needed a reason to or maybe he was worried about her, he won't admit either.
Adrien was watching someone sleep, which he never would've thought would be so entertaining. She didn't look fragile, even when she's sick and sleeping. Adrien touched her smooth skin which almost looked transparent. He let his fingers touch her lips. He didn't know what he was doing or why he was doing it. He immediately retreated his hand from her as soon as he realized how creepy he acted.
Whether people admit it or not, Adrien is a good Pirate King. He can restore order between pirates. He was working to put justice with the confederation but he clearly failed. The confederation hated pirate's very existence. He looks at Marinette, the mermaid. Mermaids are beautiful, yes, on the outside, but on the inside they were rotten, or so he thought.
Marinette was extremely thirsty but she couldn't move, her body and her eyelids felt heavy. She groaned. It took her all to open her eyes and get up. Once she's done that she searched for water, she looked around her surroundings. She noticed the Captain sitting on a chair beside the bed she was sleeping in. Adrien looked a bit worried. He asked.
"Are you okay?"
Marinette shook her head.
"Water." She said with a raspy voice.
Adrien immediately got up from the chair, saying he'll be back soon. When Adrien entered the door to the infirmary, all that Marinette could see was the pitcher of ice-cold water. Max handed over the pitcher and the glass, she almost forcefully took the pitcher, not bothering to take the glass. She drank the contents of the pitcher. Adrien was a bit worried about how thirsty she was. Because she was so thirsty, she didn't realize that not all of the water was going in her mouth, some of the water was spilling. After drinking almost all of the contents of the pitcher, she wiped her mouth and closed her eyes, she looked in pain.
"Hey, it's no big deal..." She choked out. "...I'm doin' just fine." She reassured.
"Is that so? Well, since your feeling better, like it or not, I'll be poundin' a few skills into that thick head of yours to keep you out of trouble." He said poking her forehead.
"What?!"
"From now on, I'm not letting you out of my sight." He grins.
"Don't you dare-"
"You won't so much as eat, sleep, or scratch your back without my say-so."
"Don't do me any favors!"
"Oh, you can be sure of that, my lass. You can be sure of that"
"What with you? Don't you have any compassion!" She yells annoyingly.
"Lassy I'm a pirate!" He growls then smiles to show he was kidding."Your face is purr-iceless purrincess."
"No compassion, and no good sense of humor.. you really are a pirate." Her eye-rolled at him while crossing her arms.
"You wound me purrincess."Chat acts as if he was wounded on his chest.
"So we do jokes now?"She says rhetorically.
"This cat-attitude of yours is really getting on my last nerve, mermaid." Chat grins.
"Oh! And I thought you'd be used to it by now."She pouts and looks away.
"Mari.."Adrien says, "What with you? You have been colder to me than usual."
Marinette stayed silent.
"Thank you."
Her head spikes up and turns to face him with a sincere face.
"Thank you for cooperating in helping us find the treasure and saving my life...I wouldn't be back here on this ship without you." Adrien sighs and they were both silents again.
"Was she your mother?" Marinette broke the silence and tension.
"Huh?"
"When I was with your father, I saw.. he had a photo of a blonde women frame with two boys..."Marinette says.
"Yes."Chat interjected.
"Emilie...Agreste?"
Chat eyes widen, "How do you know her name?"
Marinette's heart beat fast, "I know her story ....." Chat didn't interrupt, "The only pirate to befriend the mermaids. She was the most ruthless pirate of the sea, an orphaned who was cared for by the sirens then joined a pirate crew to live on the sea like the sirens. She soon became a pirate princess...There was war with the pirates and the mermaids. She stood in the middle. Her ship and crew were destroyed. She floated at sea till a confederation general saved her. She disappeared from the mermaid history, lost on land but soon returned in search of something. "
"What was it?"
"A miraculous."Marinette faintly says.
"A what?"
"A treasure, so unknown that its context is unknown... but she did... She knows what it was and she is out at sea searching for it."Marinette turns to look at him, "Hawkmoth said she was dead, so I assume that what you think too. She not Chat, she out there."
Chat stayed silent letting this information sink in, "I...I knew it."He said under his breath, "I have to go find her."
"How?"
"It won't concern you, remember you'll be gone soon." Chat sighed as he gets up.
"Gone where?"Marinette asked in confusion, lately, most of the memories had become a blur.
"LAND HO!!" was heard up on deck.
"I'm going to keep my promise. Stay here you can't go on land."
Marinette wasn't sure she heard right. "Excuse me?"
"You heard me. You stay here, were going to scout out the island to camp. Later you'll join my crew and travel with us. Sounds very generous if you ask me."
"But I-I mean-what, wait a minute, why?"
"You've got no skills to do such labor on land. Wouldn't want you to get hurt before we do the real work. Of course, I'll give you time to consider it. You have until I finish showering."
Marinette glares when the implications sink in. "Not a chance !"
"We'll see," Chat climbs to his feet, lowering his eyes thin and full of misconduct. "Till then, you're to stay in my purrsonal quarters until later when we go."
"How is that even fair?"
"Captain remember? Ta-ta for now!"
Marinette was broiling. He couldn't believe the nerve of this jerk. She looked around for something, anything to throw and upon finding a jar of ink, hurled it with extreme force against the backroom door as it closed. Besides amusement, Chat showed no other signs of being angered.
Marinette sunk back in her back, frustrated," Should have thrown in after the first three puns."
"Okay, guys. Time to get serious." Chat said as they drew closer to the island. He was just excited about the rest of them but that didn't mean he could neglect his navigating duties. However, his thoughts were lost as he thought that his mother could be alive out there in the ocean.
The ship suddenly burst into chaos as everyone rushed around to follow the orders their navigator was shouting out. Ten minutes later, their hard work paid off. They safely docked the Kwami and were currently standing on Perla's beach. The thick fog made visibility past ten feet nearly impossible.
Now that they had finally reached the shore, they realized they had no idea where to go. They all turned to face Chat Noir.
