He thought I was fighting battles
Against the odds that may separate us.
All he will never know,
That I have my own battle.
Battle against him
And I will always be on the losing side.
They say lying to a person's face is cruel.
But I am lying to you in the kisses,
Lying to you in the warm hugs,
I am lying to you in my eyes.
I am lying If I tell you I'm happy
Knowing nothing is alright.
I wish I was your poetry
That you carved on your skin
And read it out to the world at night.
But I was the flower that you plucked and held
Until my petals got darker
And dropped me on the dirty floor
When I withered.
