Also, I transformed the edited chapter seven of my book into a movie script! This is the first time I've ever written a script, so it's a little rough. You can try to read it out loud with friends, or even make a short video of it and send it to me for a major shout out!
Without further ado, here is chapter 7 of my Wattpad book, A Note A Day, as if it were a script!
FADE IN
CHARLIE JACKSON stands in front of a floor-length mirror in her bathroom wearing a hoodie she had previously received from TEDDY HIGGINS. Her hair is in a bun and has a Beatles shirt on underneath the hoodie.
She sighs, and grabs her backpack on the floor next to her, and walks out of the door, heading to school.
The camera pans to Charlie walking down the busy halls with books in her arms, sitting through her classes. She gets to Biology class and finds a note on her chair.
CHARLIE
(smiling)
A dyslexic man walked into a bra.
The camera then pans to Charlie walking to her locker after the bell rings. She opens her locker and suddenly notices Teddy to her right. Charlie slams her head on her locker door by accident, surprised by his appearance.
CHARLIE
(in pain)
Arrghhhhh.
TEDDY
(concerned, running towards her)
Holy crap, Charlie, are you okay?
CHARLIE
(dazed)
I'm — yeah, I'm . . . I'm wearing your hoodie.
TEDDY
I see that.
CHARLIE
(struggling to take the hoodie off)
Shoot — shoot, uh . . . Sorry. Here.
She hands him the hoodie.
CHARLIE
(awkwardly)
This is yours. I mean, thank you.
Teddy opens his mouth to say something but Charlie is already closing her locker and speed-walking to her next class, which happens to be her History class that she shares with Teddy, to avoid any awkward conversation.
Charlie finds her seat and Teddy sits in his right behind her. Their teacher begins handing out an assignment.
TEACHER
This project will be worth two test grades. I will let you choose your partners, no more than three per group.
Teddy taps Charlie on the shoulder. She turns around.
CHARLIE
What's up?
TEDDY
Partners?
CHARLIE
Deal.
She faces front again.
TEDDY
(whispering)
Hey, Charlie? Charlie?
CHARLIE
Yes?
TEDDY
Well . . . I — I was wondering if you'd want to go to my house after school? To work on the project?
CHARLIE
I'd . . . Yeah, I'd like that.
TEDDY
I can drive, if you want.
CHARLIE
Alright, sounds good.
TEDDY
Cool.
THE SCENE ENDS.
Charlie and Teddy are sitting on Teddy's bed after school.
TEDDY
Do you want to start the project now, or do you want to watch a movie or something?
CHARLIE
(stuttering)
Uhh, I don't know, whatever you want to do, I'm fine with.
TEDDY
I was actually going to ask you something . . . What happened the other night? It was pretty late, and you looked . . .
CHARLIE
(nervously blinking)
I'm fine.
TEDDY
(looking into her eyes)
Charlie . . . if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here.
Charlie begins to overthink. She starts to get anxious as she remembers the nightmare and how she feels after having nightmares, and tries to control her breathing.
TEDDY
I like the Beatles, too.
CHARLIE
(confused)
What?
TEDDY
Your shirt. I like the Beatles, too.
Charlie slowly grows less confused and realizes he is changing the subject for her. She tries to hide her smile.
CHARLIE
Really?
TEDDY
Yeah. I actually have a Beatles record somewhere around here . . .
He begins to look around his room and finds the record. He puts it in the record, and the song "I Want to Hold Your Hand" starts playing.
CHARLIE
We should probably start the project now.
TEDDY
(clearing his throat)
Yes, of course.
THE SCENE ENDS.
An hour or two has passed. Papers are now surrounding Teddy and Charlie. Charlie's legs are crossed and Teddy is sitting curled up with his knees tucked in.
TEDDY
Really? I thought you'd like Gale more.
CHARLIE
Definitely not, Peeta all the way. I'm still surprised you've watched Gilmore Girls, though.
TEDDY
I love that show! That, and Parks and Recreat—
CHARLIE
Shut up, no way! That's one of my favorite shows!
TEDDY
You can put it on, if you want — I can order us pizza, too.
CHARLIE
I'd love that.
Teddy leaves to order the pizza and Charlie glances around his room at doodles on his desk and books he kept in his bookcase and the TV shows and movies he had in a pile by his bed.
Teddy comes back after a few minutes as Charlie is glancing at Teddy's backpack. She notices three letters on the front of it.
CHARLIE
TOH? Are those your initials?
TEDDY
What? Oh, yeah. My full name's Theodore Orion Higgins. My dad picked out the name.
CHARLIE
Orion, like the constellation?
TEDDY
Yep. It's because I'm a star.
The doorbell rings, and the pizza is delivered. The project slowly gets forgotten and they talk about everything from their favorite foods to college.
CHARLIE
My sister's here to pick me up. I'm sorry, I really loved this. Really.
TEDDY
Alright, I'll walk you out.
It's dark out. They walk outside and see Skylar's car. Charlie walks closer to the car and feels Teddy's hand grip her shoulder. She turns around, confused.
TEDDY
I just — I just wanted to say bye.
Charlie's brown eyes meet Teddy's blue ones. In her mind, Charlie compares them to the ocean meeting the earth.
SKYLAR
What's taking you so long?
CHARLIE
(to Teddy)
I — I have to go.
TEDDY
Yeah, obviously, um —
CHARLIE
Teddy? Do you — are we friends?
TEDDY
(smiling)
Depends. Do you think we're friends?
Charlie nods.
TEDDY
(declaring)
Then we are! Goodbye, Charlie.
Charlie grins and waltzes to Skylar's car. She turns around and waves and Teddy. He waves back, and gives her a wink. Charlie giggles and gets into the car, her heart racing.
