Harry’s car came to a stop in front of her house. He threw it in park and turned off the ignition. “I had a lot of fun tonight Harry.” Taylor said shifting her gaze towards him. “Thank you for dinner and…everything.”
“Of course.” He smiled as he unblucked his seat belt. “Let me walk you to your door.” Before she could tell him he didn’t have to he was out of the car and opening her door.
They walked onto the front porch, both smiling from ear to ear. “I actually had a blast tonight.” Harry said as Taylor reached the door.
Taylor laughed “You actually had a blast? Did you expect it to be a nightmare?”
Harry shook his head “I didn’t mean it that way.”
“It’s okay. I’m kidding, I know what you meant.” She said with her big smile that made him smile. “I actually had a great time too.”
“I’d really like to go out with you again.” Harry rocked back on his heals a bit, he was only a little nervous to ask her out this time.
“I’d like that too.” She smiled.
“If this isn’t too much…Ava and I are going to the zoo on Saturday. I’d love it if you joined us.”
Taylor took a minute to think about it. “The teacher part of me says that it might not be the best idea…” She sighed but looking into Harry’s pleading eyes she changed her mind. “But the other side of me says I should really go…”
“Well we’re not in a school right now, so I would definitely go with that other side.” He smirked down at her.
“Okay.” She laughed.
“Yes!” He smiled wide standing straighter, proud of how he won her over.
Taylor shook her head and laughed as she took a step closer to him. She wouldn’t normally kiss a guy on a first date, but considering she’s already kissed him twice, she figured why not a third. She leaned up and gave him one more kiss for the night. She gently place her hand on his cheek again as they kissed and his hands rested on her hips. This kiss was a little different than the others, it was more confident, more heated. It involved them both, leaning into each other. This wasn’t a peck, or a short simple kiss. This was a kiss that would come about on maybe a 5th date, if everything went really well. It lasted for what seemed like forever to them but was really just a minute. There was an undeniable spark between them.
When they pulled away Taylor kept her eyes closed and bit her lip, wanting to savor the moment. When she opened her eyes Harry was watching her with a smile that made her face turn beet red. She laughed at the ground, feeling the butterflies act up in her stomach again. “Why do I feel like a 16 year old?” She laughed.
“I don’t know…” he laughed with her “but it feels good, doesn’t it?”
“Yeah.” She took a deep breath and stepped back from him towards her door. “Well, um, thanks again.”
“Yeah. Yeah. I’ll uh...see you on Saturday. I’ll text you the details and stuff.”
“Great.” Taylor smiled as she opened the door to her house. Harry turned around and took the three steps off her porch. “Goodnight Harry.” She said before closing her door.
He turned around and smiled at her. “Goodnight.”
Walking to the car and on the drive home all he could hear was her soft voice saying “Goodnight Harry.” It was sweet and yet sultry, exactly how her would describe her. He wasn’t sure if he thought she was extremely adorable or insanely sexy. And he had never met a woman that had been both. But she was. It was the way she was a bit corky, the way she laughed, and the way she played with her hair, that made her so cute. But her eyes, her eyes were bit mysterious. He wasn’t sure what is was about her that made her sexy, but the attraction was definitely there. He found himself lying awake in bed that night just thinking about her. Going over everything that he could. He let himself think of her in a way he hadn’t thought about a woman in a long time. He thought about her in that dress, and her legs that he tried not to stare at when she walked. He thought about the way she bit her lip after that last kiss. He thought about her smile, and the way her eyes seemed to sparkle all night. He went over every detail about her.
When Taylor made her way inside her roommate was sitting on the couch watching TV. Taylor leaned her back against the door and took a deep breath trying to process all the emotions she was feeling.
“Whoa.” Her roommate laughed. Her roommates name was Tara. They lived in a small house, but was perfect for them. Two bedrooms, a living room, a bathroom, a kitchen, and shockingly big back yard. Tara leaned over grabbing the remote off the coffee table and paused the TV. “What’s got you all flushed missy?”
Taylor laughed. She was giddy for the first time in her life and she never wanted to lose the feeling. She made her way over to the couch and swung herself into the spot next to Tara. “Remember that guy I was telling you about?”
“Oh my god! Your date was tonight, I totally forgot! Damn it, I wanted to be home to help you pick out a dress. But I think you made a good choice.” Tara said sitting up indian style across from her, this position meant a serious girl talk was about to happen “Tell me everything.”
“I don’t even know where to start.” Taylor beamed. She grabbed the pillow in front of her and hugged it to her chest.
“Well from the looks of your face it was pretty good.” Tara laughed at her friend who was practically squealing with joy.
“It was. It was so good. He’s…he’s like the most perfect guy I’ve ever met.” She sighed. “He’s so charming and open. We talked for hours, Tara. Literally hours.”
“You are so red right now.” Tara laughed. “I’ve never seen you like this before.”
“I’ve never felt like this.” Taylor said as she put her head back against the couch.
“Wait…” Tara said as she looked at her flushed friend. Her red lip stick was just a tad smudged on the side of her mouth. “Did you kiss him?!” She asked. Taylor lifted her head back up to look at Tara. Her face, along with her giant smile, said it all she didn’t even have to nod. “You did! On the first date?! Way to go Swift!” Tara said nudging her arm.
Taylor laughed nudging her friend back. “Well technically he kissed me first. You know me, I’m not really a fan of making out on the first date but-”
“Making out! You made out with him on the first date?!” Tara laughed “Damn Tay, you must really want it.” She said wiggling her eyebrows.
“It’s not like that. Well it is…he is insanely hot, you have no idea…but we have this serious chemistry. I couldn’t fight it even if I wanted to.” Taylor said moving the pillow. “It’s like he looks at me, and I feel like my body catches on fire!” she said tucking her legs underneath herself.
“You have goose bumps!” Tara said pointing at Taylor’s arm.
The two sat up for hours and went over every detail of the night. Taylor felt like a teenager spilling her guts to her best friend. Her cheeks had a permanent flush to them, staying pink all night as they talked about everything. Tara was like a sister to Taylor. They moved in together when Taylor moved out of her apartment she was sharing with her ex. Taylor needed a place to stay, Tara was looking for a roommate. Taylor’s best friend brought them together and she was moved in a week later. Tara saw her through some of her worst moment and her darkest times. But they leaned on each other and their relationship quickly grew. Because of their different work schedules they didn’t always get to see each other but they were pretty inseparable on the weekends. Their personalities were total opposites. Tara was fiery, she was short but had more spunk packed in her than most people. She wasn’t afraid to be honest and tell it like it is. Taylor was much more reserved. She held back more in fear of hurting people’s feelings. But they balanced each other out perfectly.
Taylor went off to bed that night with a permanent smiled on her face. A smile so big it actually hurt, but she couldn’t stop smiling even if she wanted too. It almost scared her how much she liked him and how much she enjoyed their date. After being burned before she spent years closed off to men. Never really letting them in the way she had before. Trust was an issue of hers too. And confidence. And doubt. But all of that melted away with in one minute of their date starting. He put her at ease in a weird way, a way that she had never felt before. Every “first date rule”, every “confidence issue”, everything she normally worried about, seem to evaporate into thin air the minute they started talking. She was shocked by how much she had already told him, usually it would take at least a month for a man to get that much out of her, and then they would run. But he didn’t, instead he got closer…and she let him.
