Dunno why, but I particularly like this plot thus why it was quite simple to write.
Oh, and I feel the need to mention that I'm working on a super long oneshot that may or may not involve Dragon Slayers....

Ever since that day, Gajeel had stuck to taking solo jobs; he had even left Pantherlily in the guild at times. He didn't want anyone finding out that he had been meeting a girl. A seemingly dangerous one.
It was truly like the past. The good old days where the two would have a laugh while destroying dark guilds. The good old days where nothing mattered. Where they were on the same path.
But it wasn't like those days. Not the slightest bit.
You see, people feared [Name] and her magic. They assumed that she was evil. That she would kill anyone in her way.
[Name] didn't want to bring Gajeel down with her. Not when he was finally walking the path of light that she wanted so much.
He was a Fairy Tail mage now. He had to keep up a good reputation. For the guild and for himself.
Back when Gajeel first met [Name], when he was in Phantom Lord, he was meant to be feared by people. She also did not mind the fact that people stayed away from the pair.
The paths that they walked at the time was the same. All they wanted to do was survive. To live their lives as they wished.
But years back, when the Phantom Lord and Fairy Tail incident happened, Gajeel was offered to join the light guild.
Without a moment's hesitation, he strayed from the path that he had previously walked.
In that time, [Name] disappeared. She wanted to train. Improve her skills. She decided to gain a reputation where people feared her power.
Where people didn't want to associate with her. To the point where it wouldn't matter if she killed members of a dark guild.
Without a moment's hesitation, she too strayed from the path that she had previously walked. In the other direction.
"Hey, what did the client say?" [Name] asked, stepping out from behind the tree as Gajeel walked past. He didn't flinch and only leaned on the tree.
"The monster's completely mad. Taken five children and three adults. Apparently there's been another group of mages that have already come here." Gajeel told her, smirk on his face. "Got nothing on you"
"I suppose that is true, let's go. The sooner the better" [Name] said, dragging Gajeel deeper into the forest to find it.
"You say you wanna be the bad guy, but you don't at the same time" Gajeel pointed out.
"It can't be helped. I find that killing dark guild members and anyone associated with them is simpler than handing them over to the Magic Council. Since you know, everything that touches my magic just disappears" [Name] muttered. "I just need to keep up a reputation alright?"
"You can join Fairy Tail" Gajeel muttered once again as they ducked under tree branches.
"We'll see" [Name] answered.
Gajeel looked at her, slightly surprised. Her answer before and always been a direct no. He wondered what had made her change her mind.
"Is there something on my face?" [Name] asked, turning around.
"What's wrong with you?" Gajeel asked, making [Name] roll her eyes.
"I dunno, what's wrong with you?" [Name] retorted, letting a branch fly back and hit Gajeel in the face.
"Why did you suddenly decide that you might join?" Gajeel asked, breaking the branch in half.
"Oh, am I suddenly not allowed to have an opinion?" [Name] asked sarcastically, not bothering to look back.
There was screaming in the distance that caused Gajeel to close his mouth.
"Try to keep up" [Name] smirked a second later, instantly running ahead.
"Hey!" Gajeel yelled, going after her.
He nearly collided with the girl when she suddenly stopped.
"The hell is your problem?" He asked, growling.
"You know, I didn't think this would be difficult" [Name] said, looking up.
"What?" Gajeel was clearly annoyed. [Name] only turned around, looking at Gajeel's left shoulder.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but that boy has your guild mark on his chest" [Name] said, pointing up. Gajeel followed her finger.
Sure enough, he saw Natsu and Gray in the air, held by the thing while Lucy, Erza and Wendy laid helpless on the ground, under a black substance that restricted them from moving.
"What are they doing here?" Gajeel muttered.
"So they are your comrades?"
[Name] asked. "You do realise that I can't get rid of the monster without getting rid of your friends that it's holding right? Not when its grip is that tight"
"Yeah, we'll just have to do it the old fashioned way" Gajeel murmured.
"The old fashioned way" [Name] scoffed, crossing her arms as she plopped down on the ground. "Is just sitting around waiting for you to finish it off"
"Yeah" Gajeel smirked, going past her.
[Name] waited while Gajeel went to help his friends. It was always like this. But [Name] could tell that Gajeel had gotten stronger too.
After a while, when Gajeel managed to distract it enough so that Natsu and Gray fell to the ground, he jumped back.
[Name] discreetly shot a spell behind the monster. It's cry echoed through the forest as it slowly twisted and turned, until it disappeared into that black hole.
As a result, Erza, Lucy and Wendy were freed from the substance created by the monster. All five of them rushed to Gajeel, asking questions and wondering why he was there.
"Did you come by yourself?" Erza asked.
"Yeah, stop with the questions, let's just go" Gajeel said, knowing that [Name] didn't want to be seen.
"Yeah! I'm hungry!"
"Aye Sir!"
And they walked out of the forest and towards the town. Gajeel lagged behind everyone else and looked back.
He saw [Name] sitting on the tree, smiling slightly. He nodded and turned back around. He'll see her again tonight.
[Name] smiled again, leaning her back against the tree as she watched Gajeel walk with his friends. The setting sun casted a beautiful glow above them while it left her in the dark.
One was in the dark and the other in the light.
She was amused at how their situation turned out to be. But nothing will make her chose to truely separate from Gajeel ever again.
For she will walk a path that was in the shadow of his light. They'll never truely walk the same path ever again, but who's to say that they can't force their paths to be parallel with one another?
It was their paths after all. Their choice to do whatever they wished.
And she would always chose to stay by him in a heartbeat. No matter what.
Because she loved him.
