A glimpse of the closer :)
I began writing this in May i believe. And today i am suffering mixed emotions. I am happy that i created a beautiful tale of love that garnered affection to such a level that people don't want this to end, that's putting people in tears. I'm also sad that this finally has come to an end. Honestly, it had to end long back, but then by your grace it went this long and is finally going to mark a new beginning to the couple who created magic doing nothing but being themselves, being there for each other in thick and thin and defining what unconditional love is.
With a heavy heart, i would want to thank you all for all the love and support you have given, for the strength you all have been, and for creating a family which i never expected to be a part of.
I tried my best to justify the title, A Beat That Matched Mine, to the maximum extent possible. And in course of doing that, my beat matched with many of yours. Thankyou for being such amazing set of readers slash friends, and special thanks to my naughty clan for continued spamming. For all those who were concerned when i was missing in action, thanks a lot.
And i hope, you keep supporting me further. And i would love to know from everyone that you all make sure to purchase my first publication novel, when that happens. Touch wood.

No one was able to sleep that night. Sleep was like, far far far far far away from their eyes.
"Manik, soye nai na tum?" she asked laying next to him.
"Nai beta, neend hi nai aa rahi hain"
"Mujhe bhi...reason kya ho sakta hain?" she asked lifting her head up and looking at him.
"Pata nai. Shaayd iss liye kyun ki kal se sab kuch naya naya sa hone waala hain"
"Par tum ne toh bola tha ki kuch change nai hoga, sab kuch waisa ka waisa hi rahega" she asked.
"Haa Phir bhi. Mujhe toh iss baat ka darr hain ki ab se mein waapas office join kar loonga. I am not sure if i am ready for it. Pehle ki baat alag thi, i had no choice iss liye ho gaya. Ab aisa nai hain. I need to focus, and do better than what i did before. People have high expectations on me, what if i can't live upto them?" he asked.
"You sure will. Trust me Manik, inn do saalon mein na, tum bohot mature ho gaye ho, You are definitely not the same person i met two years back. I am sure mom and dad will be so proud with all the good work you are going to do" she said.
"And you?" he asked.
"Mein toh already proud...prouder...proudest bhi hoon" she said with her evergreen smile.
"Tum mere saath dogi na? Hamesha?" he asked, asking for her hand.
She wrapped his hand tightly in hers, "hamesha" she said.
"Ab shaayad mujhe neend aayegi" he said.
She pulled him closer, hiding him in her arms.
"So jao, aaj mein mummy" she said and started humming the lullaby he usually sings for her.

In Cabir and Navya's room
They were sitting in the balcony, stargazing.
"Cabir, kal se sab kitna accha ho jayega na. Manik aur Nandini ab hamaare saath hi rahenge" Navya said.
Cabir who was sitting behind her, pulled her closer and laid his hands around her neck.
"Bohot bohot bohot achha ho jayega. Mein tumhe pata nai sakta ki mein kitna khush hoon aaj. Aur kal ka dinn dhekh na itna jaldhi beet jayega ki hamein pata tak nai chalega ki kab subah hui, aur kab raat tka shaadi bhi khatam ho gayi" he said.
"We will try making lots of memories" she said.
"Try kyun? Agar ham sab saath hain, toh memories na apne aap create ho jaayenge. Trust me. Aur kal dhekhna Nandu ki nautanki. Dadi ne bataya ki wohh donon kal poora dinn kuch nai khaa sakte. Sirf paani allowed hain. Aur tum hamaari gudiya ko jaanti ho. She breathes food. Pata nai Manik ne kaisa sambhaala hoga usko" Cabir said.
"Aisi koi baat nai hain, Nandu upar se bachhi hain. Agar use aisa kuch serious karna ho wohh bhi apni relationship ke liye, wohh kisi bhi hadd tak jaa sakti hain. Wohh sab nautanki iss liye kyun ki ham log jhelte hain use" she said.
"Wohh baat bhi sahi hain" Cabir said.
Their sweet talk was interrupted by a knock on the door.
It was Mukti and Alya.
"Tum donon yaha?" he asked opening the door.
"Neend nai aa rahi thi. Really sorry to disturb you guys" Alya said.
"Pagal, chal andar" he said.
Mukti sat on the chair, alya, Cabir and Navya settled on the floor.
"Tum log bhi soye nai?" Mukti asked.
"Nai, hamein bhi neend nai aa rahi thi. Toh bas baatein kar rahe the" Navya said.
"Manik aur Nandini so gaye. Ham log pehle unhi ke paas gaye the, Dho baar knock kiya par kisi ne respond nai kiya. Toh laga so gaye honge" Alya said.
"Haan Manik ne message kiya sone se pehle" Cabir said.
"Acha Cabir, kal kya karenge. Hum ne waise kuch solid plan toh nai banaaya" Mukti said.
"Meine uske baare mein socha nai. I guess we are going to get the venue available by morning, so we can go there around 10 and start decorating or atleast help with the decorations. Wohh sab karne mein toh pakka dho teen ghante lag jayenge, and by then lunch will be ready. Khaana khaake thodi der rest karlenge and then we can start getting ready. We are expecting guests to start coming from around 5, so tab tak atleast two of us and two of you girls should be ready to welcome them" Cabir said.
"Why does it sound so tough?" Alya asked.
"Well it is tough. Manik Malhotra ki shaadi mein itna toh hoga hi" Cabir said.
"Wohh bhi sahi hain, after all it's Bhai's shaadi. Aur Nandini madam ko toh sab jaante hi hain, her tantrums, Cabir yeh red color mein kyu hain, why are these lights here? Mera make up toh theek haina, Manik tum itne lambe kyu ho? Alya tumhe mere liye iss se zyaada high heels choose karna chahiye tha.....and and and many such things" Mukti said.
"Sahi kaha tum ne. Today she was asking me if her heels are high enough for her to stand next to Manik" Alya agreed.
"Acha chalo, so jaate hai ab. Navya looks so tired" Mukti said looking at Navya and the next moment Navya yawned.
"Yeah, just a little tired. Guess i need to sleep" she said getting up.
"Okay girls, see you tomorrow, or technically today in just a few hours" Cabir said.
The girls left to their own rooms, Cabir and Navya also went to bed.

In Aryaman and Deepika's room
"Arika, baby calm down. Shhhh...please so jao" Deepika was trying to put Arika, who was crying, to bed, par yaha bhi jet lag issues.
"Princess, come to papa. Aa jao aa jao" Aryaman said taking her in his arms. And then the next moment she stopped crying.
"Dhekha papa ke haath ka magic" he said proudly.
"Wahh papa. Great job" she said patting his back.
"Sab kuch kitna badal gaya na" Aryaman said looking at Arika.
"Bohot. Mere itne chubby cheeks nai the pehle" she said. And that made both of them smile.
"Pata hi nai tha, ki mujhe itni sweet family milegi. In you and Arika. Sometimes it's hard for me to believe that i have someone who calls me papa, like in just a few months" he said.
"Aur mein? I was supposed to get engaged to Manik. And then Harshad. And after knowing what kind of a guy he was, mujhe toh shaadi se hi problem hone lag gayi. Little did i know that i would run away from my own wedding, woh bhi apni wedding dress ke saath kyun ki it was Sabyasaachi, that i would make a fool out of the person i was going to get married to, that i would find such amazing BFF's, that i would meet you, fight with you and then end up having babies with you. Life na....bohot hi unpredictable hain" she said.
"Sahi kaha tum ne. Mujhe kabhi nai laga ki i will have a life out of America, out of my work. But then i found you. I found these people. I found Nia, i mean Mukti. Na wohh mujhe milti, na yeh log mujhe milte aur na tum. That's why Mukti is my angel. She brought life into my life" he said.
"Totally agreed. Ham sab ki lives mein shaayad wahi ek best thing hua hain. Like Mukti coming back. She is lucky, for it was you who helped her" she said.
"Hmm....haan. Thoda credit toh mil sakta hain" he said winking.
"Acha, she is asleep" Deepika said.
"Great. Ruko let me put her in the crib" he said and made her sleep in the crib. Covering her up with her dolphin blanket, he kissed her goodnight.
"Chalo ham log bhi so jaate hain. In three more hours we need to get up" Aryaman said.
Deepika cleaned up the bed, as it had Arika's milk bottles and diapers and other baby stuff.
And with great difficulty they closed their eyes, which already started feeling heavy due to lack of sleep.

Next morning
Everyone reach the venue.
Abhi and Dhruv were in the dining area, handling food section.
Navya, Alya and Deepika were sorting up the return gifts.
Aryaman, Mukti and Cabir were setting up the stage. Mukti was sitting on the chairs and guiding them.
"Wohh perfect hain, bhai se poochke final kardenge" Mukti said. The stage was decorated beautifully.
And so was the sitting area.
William and Matt were setting up the entrance with the decorators.
They were having tough time with the language.
And the lovely bride and groom were watching all this from the verandah of their room which gave them a clear view of the entire area.
"Kitna kaam kar rahe hain yeh log. Mukti ko bataya tha meine, ki mat kar, rest le. Lekin woh sunti kaha hain" Manik said.
"EK hi toh bhai hain uska. Karna toh padega na. Ab mere wohh angrez bhaiyon ko dhekho, unke eyes kaise ho gaye hain. Phir bhi kar rahe hain. I bet you, ek bed aur ek blanket dedo unn ko, wahi ke wahi donon snore karte so jayenge" Nandini said.
"We are really lucky to have this family" Manik said.
"Yes" she said holding his hand.
"Wohh dhekho. Love birds kaise dhekh rahe hain sab kuch, yaar neeche aao, thoda toh help karo" Aryaman said looking at them.
"Jo karna tha, tum sab ki shaadiyon mein karli hain. Ab kuch karenge toh, wohh theen ghante kaa spa session jo karwaaya wohh waste ho jayega" Manik said.
"Unprofessional friends" Cabir said.
"Oye, chupchap kaam karo, nai toh paise kam milenge" Manik said.
"Ha-ha-ha-ha....Haso sab log, Manik Malhotra ne joke crack kiya" Cabir said throwing the flowers in his hand.
"Cabir, flowers aise waste mat karo" Mukti yelled at him.
"Bhai aisa hain, toh behen bhi aisi hi hogi" Cabir said, looking at Aryaman. He agreed with a nod.
"Kuch kaha tu ne?" Mukti asked.
"Nai toh. Meine kaha Mukti mata i ki jai ho" Cabir said raising his hand.
"Drama band kar aur dhekh sab kuch theek hain ya nai" she ordered.
"Yaar koi Abhi ko bulaakar laona. We're not able to deal with her mood swings" aryaman said stomping his leg.
"Why are you guys being so fussy? What's wrong with you all?" Abhimanyu asked. He just came back from the dining hall.
"Cabir sab aryaman ki galthi hain. Hum iss ke saath 20 years bohot strict the. Aryaman ne use pamper kar ke aisa bana diya" manik said.
"Tu Rapunzel jaise balcony mein khade hoke kya kar raha hain?" Abhi asked Manik.
"Checking everything. Shaadi meri hain toh sab mujhe hi dhekhna padta hain" he replied.
"Buddy. Kuch bhi huh? Kuch bhi? Matlab tujhe sach mein lagta hain sab kuch tu hi dhekh raha hain?" dhruv asked. He nodded in yes.
"Agar hum upar aaye na toh bata raha hoon teri shakal na dhekhne laayak nai rahegi" cabir said showing him a fist.
"hey bhagwan. Mujhe bachao. Mujhe darr lag raha hain" manik was being naughty.
"Tum log chupchap kaam nai kr sakte? Kab se dhekh rahi hoon" they heard Navya's voice and everyone took to their heels and got back to work.
"Hamesha sochta hoon is ki awaaz sunn ke daroon na, par saala aisa hota hi nai hain" cabir said to Aryaman.
"Sunn mere bhai, biwi ki gusse waali awaaz sunn ke pati na darein, aisa toh reality mein kya fiction novel mein bhi nai hota hain. Navya ke aage sippu kuch nai kar sakti hain" he said. Cabir had to agree. (Written this line out of personal experience 😂😂😂😂😂)
The stage decor was done, dining area was set and now just the people had to get ready. Since the guests started arriving already, first boys went to get ready.
It was red and black themed, so the boys were wearing black and girls were in red, except for the bride and the groom. They were given special preference.
Cabir Dhruv and William were at the entrance, welcoming the guests.
The lunch was also organized for the guests, so Abhi and Matty were at the lunch area.
Aryaman was with Manik.
"So all set?" Aryaman asked.
"Han yaar, bas yeh jaldhi se khatam ho jaaye
"Aisa kyu bol raha hain?" Aryaman asked.
"Nandini kuch khaa nai sakti na poora din. You know uska kya reaction tha kal raath when i told her? She thought i was kidding. Waise soch raha tha, secretly kuch deke aaoon use. She must be really hungry" Manik said.
"Huff! Tu bhi na Manik. Apni hone wali wife ke baare mein jaanta nai hain. Girls are also upset with the fact that she cannot eat anything for the entire day, toh they already tried giving her food, uss ne mana kar diya. She said it's just for one day aur agar hum donon ke liye acha hoga toh yahi sahi" Aryaman said.
"She really said that?" Manik asked buttoning up his kurta.
"Yes dude, aur haan thoda hum pe bhi taras khaa. Kyun ki tum log kuch khaa nai rahe hai, even we all are going to fast for you. Except for Mukti" Aryaman said.
"Yeh dosti....hum nahi todenge" Manik started singing.
"Todenge dum magar...tera saath na chodenge" Aryaman joined him.
"You know you guys are the bestest" Manik said.
"Acha Manik, sunn. I wanted to talk to you about something, In fact thank you" Aryaman said.
"Bol na" Manik asked.
He was all ready by now.
"I don't know how to thank you for everything you have done. For me" he said.
"What did i do for you?" Manik asked.
"See Manik, i know jo bhi hua tha uss din, it was very tragic. But then, nandini bolti haina har buraai mein kuch accha hotha hain we just have to find it. Aisa soche toh, uss din ki wajah se mujhe nia mili, who turned out to be your Mukti. Jab tumhe pata chala, you could have taken her with you straight and cut all the relationship she had with me. Par tu ne aisa nai kiya, you respected me for what i did, and you made me a part of your small world. Aur tumhaari wajah se mujhe itne saare achhe friends milein, and then Deepika. Had you not been nice to her and helped her out with her life, hum milte bhi nai. I owe you big time man. All this i am saying...i mean every bit of it and it's coming straight out of my heart"
"Come on Aryaman, you gave me the biggest gift of my life. You are like...like my genie. Meine wish kya maang liya ki i want my sister back, you did that for me. Thanks toh mujhe bolni padegi"
"Manik meinne kuch special nai kiya, and you found your sister by yourself"
"She had to be there in the first place for me to find her right? And you did that for me. You made her live, though it was with a different identity"
"Acha don't divert me. Dhekh ab mera ek happy family hain, mein, meri biwi aur meri choti princess. Deepu and I can never thank you enough for this. And yes, yeh mera promise hain, anytime anything you want, Aryaman rahega tere liye. When i say it, i mean it" he said.
"Thanks yaar. Thanks for being part of our family. Tu toh sab se bada hero hamara, you gave us Mukti and then the first new generation of the gang, Arika. Iss se zyaada tujhe kuch nai karni to thank me" Manik said.
"Ek hug toh banta hain" Aryaman said.
Their pep talk ended with a cute bhai-bhai hug.
"Ab chalein?" Aryaman asked.
"Yes! Sab sahi lag raha haina?" Manik asked looking at the mirror for one last time.
"Ek dum tanaa tan" Aryaman said. And they both went to the party area.

In Nandini's room
Alya and Deepika were helping Nandini get ready.
"Mujhe na tum logon ko dhekh ke jalan ho ri hain, i am so jealous" Deepika said adjusting Nandini's dupatta.
"Jealous? Kyun?" Alya asked.
"Shaadi ke baad you all are going to stay together, sirf mujhe jaana hain, wohh bhi itni door. Ab tak toh atleast Manik aur nandini waha the and we used to visit them during vacation. Ab toh wohh bhi nai ho sakta" Deepu said with a sad face.
"Arre, you know how easily we keep travelling, tumhi toh chidaati ho ki we feed American Airlines" Alya reminded.
"Wohh toh hain, par phir bhi, i don't want to go. Ab Arika ke saath travel karna itna easy bhi nai haina, So you guys have to fly down" Deepu said.
"Deepu don't worry, i am not going to let myself miss America so much. Willam, Matty, Judy, Lakshmi aunty...i have many reasons to come there. You will keep seeing me frequently. Tum khud thak jaogi" Nandini said.
"Thanks yaar Nandu. Now i am at peace" Deepika said.
"How long are you going to stay?" Nandini asked Deepika.
"Arika and i will be here for two months, Aryaman shaadi ke baad nikal jaayega" She said
"Toh tum ruk rahi ho na, that's great" Nandini said.
Finally she is ready.
"Okay! My job is done" Alya said.
"You look beautiful" Deepika said looking at her reflection in the mirror.
"Thankyou girls" Nandini said.
Meanwhile Alya got a call from Navya.
"Ho gayi kya ready? Ab aa ajo neeche, guests aa rahe hain and Manik yaha akele khada hain" she said.
"Yes madam. She's ready, bas we were just getting down" Alya said and hung up.
"Principal gusse mein lag rahi hain, chalo let's go" Alya said.
And the three girls also walked to the party area.
"Good luck Nandini. Get ready to greet atleast 100 people now. And yes, smile karna, namaste karna and ache se thankyou bolna, i will be there next to you, to help you with the gifts. Bas thodi der hi rahenge stage pe, us ke baad there is going to be a special performance. And then you can get back to the room" Alya explained her everything.
"I am scared" Nandini said,
"Why scared? Your hero is going to be there right next to you, holding your hand" Deepika said winking.
And there was a blush on her cheeks.
"Abhi soch rahi thi, blush kuch light nai lagaaya tum ne alya, par yeh dhekho natural waala aa gaya" she said pulling Nandini's cheek.
"Dada dadi kaha hain?" nandini asked.
"Wohh log hain stage ke paas, aur Arika daadi ke saath hi hain. Chalo ab jaldi" Deepika said.
Everyone present there, were totally bowled out by the beauty of the bride. The tiny cute bride.
Cabir, Dhruv and William who were at the entrance heard people saying dulhan aa gayi and turned around to see her.
A tear drop rolled down Cabir's eyes, seeing her. No doubt they share the best bond.
Nandini's eyes were also looking for him.
"Cabir kaha hain?" she asked Alya still walking up to the dais, she couldn't find him among those many people.
"Entrance ke paas" Deepika said.
She tried to find him, and then finally saw him.
She signalled him to come to her.
He came running, with just one ishaara.
And the moment he came, she hugged him tight.
"Stay with me, ab se leke shaadi khatam hone tak" she ordered.
There was a smile on his face.
"Okay madam, as you say. Ab toh chalein, bechara mera dost, dhekho kaise ghoor raha hain mujhe, yeh soch ke ki pehla hug mujhe mil gaya" he said. She smiled, pulled off and looked at Manik.
From there, cabir walked her up to the dais.
"I knew you would take time, par itna zyaada?" Manik said as she stood next to her.
"Sorry, i wanted to look the best" she said.
"And you totally did that. Poori planning kar ke aayi ho mujhe yahi maarne ke liye" Manik said.
"Tum bhi kuch kam nai lag rahe ho" she said.
"Ab tum donon romeo juliet thodi der apni koocheekoo band karoge? Log aa rahe hain, unhe bhi toh hi hello bolo" Cabir said.
"It was your idea to have him next to you right?" Manik asked glaring at Cabir.
"Darr ne waala nai hoon. Sirf ek hi insaan ki aankhein mujhe dara sakti hain, dhekho red color ki saree pehen ke yaha waha bhaag rahi haina wohh ladki...bas wohh" he said pointing toward Navya.
"Tu chup nai reh sakta na? Kabhi bhi" Manik said.
"Why do you ask questions jis ke answer tujhe already pata hain" Cabir asked shrugging.
"Navyaa" Manik called Navya from the dais and asked her to come.
She came to them, "Kamaal ke lag rahe ho donon" she said.
"Apne pati ko na saath saath le jao kahi bhi jao, mera dimaag kha raha hain" Manik said.
"Cabir tum yaha kya kar rahe ho? Guests ko kaun dhekhega?" Navya asked.
"Yaar Nandini ne khud bola, to stay with her, toh hoon yaha. Nandini jaoon kya?" Cabir asked.
"Theek hain, par beech beech mein aate rehna" she said.
"Okay, Manik ab khush?" he asked Manik.
"Itni zyaada khushi mujhe zindagi mein kabhi nai huiiiiii" he said dramatically.
Cabir left the stage and now it was just MaNan.
"So" he said.
"So" she repeated.
"Sooo?" he asked shrugging.
"I love you Manik" she said. Her face was glowing. And that brought a glow on his face too. "Seedha dil pe lagaa" he said putting his hand on his heart.
"Achha toh nishaana sahi tha" she said smiling.
People were going off and on stage, congratulating them, giving them gifts and blessings.
"Tum itne saare logon ko jaante ho?" she asked. She was already getting tired. Ek toh kuch khaa nai sakthi, upar se she's wearing this heavy dress.
"Hmm..Ab business hain toh honge hi. I am sorry baby, thakk gayi ho kya?" he asked.
"Arre nai. Aisehi casually poocha" she said.
"30 more minutes, and then you can sit" he said and she smiled.
The next 30 minutes they met more people and finally, Cabir came back to the stage.
"Hello everyone. Thank you for coming to bless the new couple, can everyone please settle down as it is time for some entertainment?" he asked.
With a little hustle bustle, people settled down.
And the waiters started serving some snacks and drinks.
"So, most of you are familiar with the couple. We have had this engagement party as you guys remember. And for those who do not, this is Manik Malhotra, the heir of Malhotra group. And this is Nandini Murty, the granddaughter of renowned business family Murtys. But but but, for us, they are just Manik and Nandini. After two years of being together, and completing their educational commitments, they are back to India, to start their happily ever after. We hope you all stay until the wedding ceremony, food and accommodation has been arranged for everyone. And now, let's get into the masti part, over to Alya" he said letting Alya speak now.
"Namaste and welcome to the pre-wedding party of Manik and Nandini. We are going to begin this with my husband, Dhruv's dance performance with his students. Please put your hands together for them" she said.
Nandini and Manik were sitting in the special love seat, fully decorated with red roses made specially for them.
Dhruv and his team danced on Manik and Nandini's favourite songs.
"Thankyou Dhruv for this amazing opening act" Alya said after they were done with the performance.
"Okay now it's time for the newest parents to grace the stage. Please welcome Deepika and Aryaman" Cabir said.
They danced on Gerua.
"Deepika and Aryaman, you still have the same grace that you had on your sangeet. Thanks guys that was a lovely duet" Cabir said as they got off the stage.
"Okay, now we have a small surprise for Nandini" he said. Nandini looked beside and Manik was missing. The dais was covered with a red curtain, that had their picture in the middle.
"Nandini, our story in our own style. This is for you with lots of love" he said. And BG started.

"Sahi hain, neend ki bye bye ho gayi hamesha ke liye, and since the day i saw you, all i did was dream about you, and sing romantic melodies in the middle of the night. Cabir bhi proof hain. Kyun Cabir?" he asked and Cabir showed a thumbs up.. And then he continued.

"Okay questions ka jawaab toh mil gaya, since you started behaving differently around me. The jealousy game with Alice, that little fight, the family issues, our first India trip, our first holi and the masti you did. You made me your ghoda all thanks to Cabir (The audience had to laugh at this)...Nandini i have a secret which is no longer going to be a secret form now. Jaanna hain?" he asked looking at her and she nodded in yes.
"Okay when do you think you first said those three magical words to me?" he asked.
"Hmm...that night at the beach" she said confidently.
"Galat...Uss din holi ke baad, you were down with the special coke you had aur baaton baaton mein you said, I love you Manik. I wasn't paying attention to your words, but then, that was like booom! I was shocked to hear that from you" he was talking when Cabir interrupted him.
"Manik tu aaj pitne waala hain shaadi ke baad for exposing this little secret" Cabir said.
"Don't you think that was cute? Well mujhe toh bada cute laga" he said.
She was blushing.
"Okay, i won't trouble you more" he said and went ahead with the next one.
"Ab pyaar hain yeh pata chal gaya, time to confess. It was such a messy day, she was sick, and i was sad ki mera poora planning waste ho gaya. But then, i did something, in my special way. A keep it simple confession. And expressed my feelings. Her face, her expressions and her reaction....i stored it in my brain and heart in the same way" (Nazm Nazm from bareily ki Barfi)

"And that night, marked our day of love, the beginning of our wonderful journey. We have had many such amazing moments until today, all thanks to her excitement and curiosity. It makes me do better things, and plan better surprises. Nandini's presence changed many things for all of us in our lives, and now I would like my friends to share their best moments with her. We don't want to bore you guys, so it's going to be short" he said and got off the stage, to join her.
It was Aryaman and Deepika's turn first.
"Nandini, firstly congratulations on your big day. You look lovely, and so do you Manik. So you are this most adorable couple for us, like you have always been setting couple goals, and we really wish you all the love, luck and togetherness. Nandini you are a sweetheart and I am really glad to be your friend" Deepika said giving the mic to Aryaman.
"Toh yes hamaari choti princess, our cute little cupcake, you look stunning today. Be the same funny, charming and lovely girl you are. Lots of love to both of you" he ended.
It was Alya and Dhruv's turn next, "Nandini, sab tumhe hi praise kar rahe hain yeh chaeting hain. I must say tum bohot lucky ho tumhe Manik jaisa pati mila hain. Tum kuch bolo ussse pehle tumhaare liye sab kuch kardeta hain. Hamesha iskaa saath rehna and protect him. Kyun ki hamaare liye wohh hamesha rahega, lekin uss ke liye sirf tum ho. He calls you his shining star, so keep shining for him" Dhruv said.
"Nandini and Manik, you guys have been my most favorite couple. Nandini i totally agree with Dhruv. You are lucky to have Manik as your life partner. Mein Manik ko bachpan se dhekhte aa rahi hoon, if he feels someone close to his heart then there's no escape for them. I am glad you're the closest one to his heart. Take care of him, and I am sure you are going to be one wonderful life partner. Love you Manik, thanks for giving us such lovely bhabhi" she said giving a flying kiss to them.
Next was Mukti and Abhi.
"Bhai and Bhabhi. You both look great today. But not more than me huh? Bhai asked us to tell about Nandini and also end it soon. I don't think that's possible. So i was considering writing a book on her. I can explain everything without time crunch. So yes, let me wrap it up real quick, our family wishes you both a lovely and a happy married life. And Nandini you are sure the best thing that ever happened to Bhai. Love you so much" Mukti said giving the mic to Abhi.
Here Nandini was in tears to see so much love coming from her family.
"Nandini, mujhe thanks kehna padega tumhe kyun ki, woh confession waali raat tum beemaar thi, sirf meri wajah se tum uthke Manik ke saath chal paayi. Toh technically, i made that possible for you both" he said and that made everyone laugh.
"Tu sudhrega nai" Cabir shouted from the audience.
"Okay, on a serious note, congratulations guys. We are looking forward to see how our next victim is going to suffer" he said pointing toward Manik, only to get a punch from Mukti.
"Happy married life to our MaNan" they said together.
Next it was Matty and Will.
"Butterfly you look adorable. And Manik you look no less man. You guys are just great together. I have known Nandini for a while now and Manik let me tell you, you are one lucky man. She is a darling. So understanding, so compassionate, so loving and and....like the best in everything. We have seen her in the worst phase of her life and to see her now with all smiles...we are speechless and you made it possible. Cherish every single moment of your lives, and let your love keep growing. Love you Butterfly" William said.
"I don't have words. Just like Will said, we have seen all the shades of Nandu now, she was so vulnerable when we first saw her. And now i am really glad to see her happy. Nandu we love you and we are always there for you. Remember, bros before hoes. Happy married life guys" Matty said and they both got off the stage.
And finally it was Cabir and Navya. Navya knew Cabir would take time, so finished it real quick, "Welcome home Devrani ji. And now it's time for me to trouble you, wohh bhi with all powers" Navya said and that made Nandini laugh.
"Okay, i was kidding. Nandini i am so happy to see you both together. I wish mumma was there. She would love you. So, congratulations both of you, mumma and pappa ke taraf se bhi. We love you both" she said.
And now Cabir took the mic. Everyone was eagerly waiting for him to speak.
"Kya bataoon samaj mein nai aa raha hain. I was like yeh boloonga wohh boloonga, par ab kuch bol nai paa raha hoon. If i say i am happy that's definitely an understatement. I have never tried to put in words about what Manik means to me. Any adjective would be less. Even if i say i owe you so much it's still not going to suffice. With all my heart's content i hope you guys endure every single day of your lives together. Manik, you have found someone so rare, fragile, beautiful and possibly the best person ever. After you, I never thought i could let someone close to me. Well, my wife is an exception, Navya please ghooro mat mujhe" that cracked up everyone.
"Manik, Nandini's love for you is uncommon, she creates happiness out of every little thing she finds and that's the best part. You couldn't have found a better partner for you. So, never forget she has the support of this big brother forever and you ought to take care of her. I am sure this is going to be the first of many best day you are going to spend together. So I wish you all the world's love. Happy married life" he ended making the bride and the groom emotional.
It was Dada and Dadi's turn now.
"Thank you for inviting us Manik. We are never going to forget this day. You made our lives complete by letting us be a part of your big day" Dada ji said giving the mic to Dadi.
"My lovely daughter-in-law Nandini. You look like the most beautiful bride today. Do thank your friends for helping you look so beautiful. And Manik, thankyou very much for inviting us. I have never seen this day coming. You brought us together with your thoughtfulness. And now we are never letting it go. I see my son and daughter-in-law in you both. I hope you live together, bearing all the difficulties and enjoying every happy moment of your lives. You always have our blessings" she said. Manik and Nandini got on to the stage, and took their blessings.
Dada and Dadi got off the stage and now it was just the bride and the groom.
"Thankyou guys for all the wonderful messages and gifts, I love gifts and i am so looking forward to open them all. It still feels like a dream to me, like I open my eyes and everything is gone. But yeah this dress is too heavy to make me believe it's for real. You guys are the most important part
of our lives, especially mine. From having no one to now having such a big family this means a lot to me. Dada, Dadi thanks for coming. Matty and Will, you are the best. Consider moving to India, please! And Fab5, you are really Fabulous and cheers to you guys for keeping up with your name. And Manik, for who you are and for who are you going to be for the rest of our lives, I love you so much. You are my favorite man in the world. Congratulations you overtook Appa. I am sure he would be happy to know. Right Appa? Thankyou for putting up with me every single moment and just like you said when you confessed your love to me, i also promise you that you will always find me, either guiding you or following you or walking with you. I feel the luckiest to find The Beat that matched mine" she ended up with tears.
Taking her into a hug, amidst a huge round of applause, manik kissed her, a kiss of faith.
It was the end of the pre-wedding party, all the guests moved to the dining area to savour the food featuring a variety of cuisines. The gang were also fasting for Nandini and Manik to cheer them up.
Everyone except for Cabir and Aryaman, were in the the bride's room.
Nandini finally got to change into something comfortable.
She was sleeping with her head on Manik's lap, while he was seen resting his head on Abhi's shoulder.
The girls were busy setting up Nandini's wedding dress.
"She looks very tired" Manik said patting her head lightly.
"It's okay, she can take it for one day. I know Nandini" William said.
After having everything set, they all took a nap right in the places they were sitting.

At 7 in the evening

For one last time, I am getting a chance to speak. Thankyou everyone for being there since the very first day, supporting us, and loving us so much. It's because of your love, Sippu has been able to write so many chapters, create many lovely moments for us. Since everything has an end, we are finally at the end of this beautiful journey, but yes, i am glad it's going to be such a happy ending, which is technically the beginning for us.
It has been a long day for us. For Nandini in particular. I am used to these kind of gatherings but poor girl, she was so tired that she was even snoring.
One more hour, shaadi ho jaaye toh I am going to let her eat all that she wants.
I am here, standing infront of the mirror, with my friends next to me, wearing this wonderful sherwani designed by Alya. Just can't wait to see my girl.
"Time to go" Aryaman said coming inside the room.
They walked me to the beautifully decorated mandap.
Guests were already there, waiting for us.
I settled down on the small stool that was placed.
And now i realize it's difficult to manage this outfit. It's too heavy for someone who always wears shorts and tshirts.
The pandit was helping me do the pooja, while i was lost in my own thoughts.
My eyes have been so desperate to see her. I have been very partial to red all my life, even before i found out this romantic angle in me. And Red plus Nandini is such a mind blowing combination. I could feel my eyes getting moist with every second ticking in the clock. The responsibility of this fragile soul now lies with me. Am i worthy enough for that? Will i be able to take care of her, protect her and give her the life she deserves? I don't know why but i had hundreds of such questions popping in my head.
I closed my eyes for a second and the moment i opened them, i could clearly see mom, dad, Amma and Appa sitting there in front of me. I was so clearly hallucinating.
And now Appa started walking toward me.
"Manik, you don't have to worry about anything. When Nandini said you are her most favorite man, I felt so happy. You are the one who can make her life worth living. So stop thinking otherwise, warna meri beti aake poochegi and i am sure you don't want to tell her what's going in your mind" he said. I nodded in a no.
Amma and Mom were smiling heartfully. I could remember the words Navya said in the morning, that Mom would be very happy to see Nandini. I can see that.
"Most beautiful bride ever" I could hear her say.
"Beta ji, Meri bahu toh tumhari mother hi se bhi bihot zyaada khoobsoorat lag rahi hai" Dad said. And amma, she was so happy, to see my parents accepting Nandini, to see them love her so much.
How i wish all this were true! How i wish they were by my side!
SIPPU ALERT: MANIK......NO TIME FOR TEARS.
MANIK: FINE MADAM! I AM GOING TO REVEAL THE TWIST NOW. YOU GO, BYE!
So the twist Sippu was telling was about is that this is going to be a fusion wedding, but mostly focusing the Tamil style, Navya and Cabir were called up onto the mandap. The first thing is Kashi Yatra. I was given an umbrella and was asked to leave the mandap. So i pretend as if I don't want to get married to her and then the bride's brother or father convinces me not to go.
Cabir did a great job, convincing me. He had to wash my feet, hold the umbrella for me, and feed me with a laddoo.
And I came back to the mandap. I could see everyone enjoying every bit of it. Next was Padapuja. I put my feet in a silver plate, Navya was pouring water from a kalash and Cabir was cleaning my feet. Usually this is done by the bride's parents or the brother and his wife.
And now time for the bride. Just like the day of our engagement, Mukti and Deepika first came to me and warned me, "Bhai, ready ho jao. Clean bowled ho jaoge Nandini ko dhekh ke" Mukti said.
And there she was.
"I am sure, Red was created just for you" I said.
She looked at me. I could see the smile in her eyes, that's how happy she was.
"I was seeing a magazine yesterday, Alay showed me your look from that. I was like O-H-M-Y-G-O-D! Is Manik going to look like this? Let me tell you, you look so handsome. I need to be careful when girls are around" she said.
"Thankyou. But you know my eyes are always fixed at you" I said.
Pandit ji made us do the rituals together and it was time for Varmala. We exchanged garlands, thrice, another Tamil wedding ritual.
I love these garlands. It makes our look complete. And next was a funny one. We were made to sit on a beautifully decorated swing. It's called Oonjal ceremony. The ladies continued with some holy ritual, which supposedly help the evil stay away from us.
After all the fun was the emotional part. Dada and Dadi ji came toward the stage. A chair was laid for him.
Nandini was asked to sit in his lap, to do the kanyaadaan ceremony. So this is something like, the father hands over his baby, who played in his lap, to the groom, and in return expecting an assurance from the groom to take care of his daughter.
Dada ji sat on the chair holding a picture of Nandini's amma and appa, and she Nandini sat in his lap. The very next moment, tears started shedding down her eyes.
"Are you sad to have Manik in your life?" Dada ji asked. She looked at him nodding in a no.
"Then why are you crying? This is what you want right? Be happy and ask your man to promise me that he will protect you all your life" he said to her. She nodded in yes, rubbing the tears off her face.
She looked at me, giving her hand. I held her hand and said, "Dada ji, Appa I promise to keep your darling daughter happy. I promise i won't let you regret, not even for a while"
They both smiled together. Dadi ji came closer to me, giving a kiss on my forehead.
And then we walked back to the mandap together for the muhurat.
After making the holy promises, the saat phere, promising to be there by each other's side during thick and thin, I applied the sindhoor.
The glow on her face doubled up the very next moment. (Perfect pic, no sindhoor though)
I was then given the mangalsutr, a very beautiful one with a small pearl hanging down. Amidst flower shower, i tied it around her neck, marking her mine.

"Shaadi sampann hui" the pandit said and my heart skipped a beat. I got emotional during the kanyadaan when dada ji sat holding Appa's photo in his hand. This is not fair Appa. Why are you not here on my big day? Acha are you happy? Finally I got married.

Wearing mangalsutr was like my childhood fantasy. I used wear my amma's only get ranted by her. And now, i have one of my own. It looks so beautiful.
I was lost in my own thoughts when, he held my hand.
"Congratulations Mrs. Malhotra. We made it" he said. I could see the happiness, his eyes were shining.
It was time to take blessing from the elders, all our friends lined up. We first took the blessings of Dada and Dadi and then moved to our friends, who were waiting for us to touch their feet. Manik was so not ready for it.
He called for a group hug and everyone pounded upon us.
Cabir blasted the party popper and we had a celebration of our own kind.
