There was no way Jungkook would survive this date. It was game-over as soon as he stepped into Chaeyoung's car and saw her in that dress that exposed her smooth neck and shoulders. Her skin was painfully beautiful and he secretly wanted to see more of it... or all of it. When she leaned across him to put his seatbelt on, the smell of her floral scented shampoo and coconut lotion drove him insane. He had to keep reminding himself that she was off-limits - a part of the Park family.
Obviously, this reminder wasn't strong enough, because he had to go and do something stupid like suggesting they do whatever their hearts desired on this date. It appeared, he needed to work on his self-control. All things considered, he had paid $100,000 for this date, so he expected to have the time of his life. And with the thick tension that was already brewing between him and Chaeyoung, this expectation seemed very attainable.
Now, as they walked towards the Parks' helicopter, he could fully appreciate the way her outfit hung over her hips and cut off at just the right length to showcase her long legs. Damn, those were great legs. An amused smile spread across his face when he noticed they were wearing matching, white Vans. She obviously had great taste.
"Nice shoes," he smirked and glanced down.
She grinned, "you too."
The closer they got to the helicopter, the harsher the wind hit them, ruffling their hair and causing Chaeyoung's dress to whip around wildly. Jungkook used his leather jacket to hold around her hips to preserve her modesty (because that was the gentlemanly thing to do). She seemed to appreciate the gesture, although she tensed at the slight touch of his hands on her hips. He didn't blame her. Every touch - hell, every look - between them was fiery and electric.
They climbed into the helicopter together and put their headphone sets on to block out the loud noise of the propellers.
Jungkook belatedly noticed the lack of space in the helicopter. Although it was standard-sized, the backseats where Jungkook and Chaeyoung were sitting barely provided enough room for the two of them. Their shoulders, arms, and legs were pressed together, allowing her body heat to intermingle with his own to create a strong electric current between them. Just riding in the same car as Chaeyoung was enough to make him heady, but sitting so close to her in the helicopter was something else entirely. He was hyperaware of every point their bodies were touching and it was driving him crazy. The feminine scent that radiated off her was making it even worse. He wasn't sure when, exactly, she gained such a power over him.
Luckily, the lush, green and blue scenery of Korea below them provided him with something else to focus on. It wasn't often that Jungkook was awestruck, but as the helicopter flew across the beautiful landscapes, he was mesmerized. Korea really was a beautiful country and times like this made him proud to be a citizen.
A quick glance down at Chaeyoung revealed similar feelings. Her eyes were wide with excitement as she pointed to different areas out the window and continuously said "wow." He chuckled quietly to himself because she looked so cute and innocent. One of the things that intrigued Jungkook about her was her duality - at times, she was so kind-hearted and empathetic but in the next moment, she would surprise him with her sharp tongue and witty humour. Sometimes she resembled a cute little girl, while other times she was so sexy without even trying that he had a hard time breathing. She was a deadly combination of all the things he loved in a woman, and Jungkook was terrified that he'd fall for her.
Eventually, her body relaxed against his and they rode together comfortably, enjoying the view and making small talk. Jungkook reluctantly had to admit to himself that he was actually having a good time. He hadn't been on a date in years, so he'd forgotten how it felt to just do mundane, everyday things with a woman just for fun. It was... nice.
The helicopter finally landed in a wide, jade-green field in Jeju around 10:00 am. Although Jungkook had been to Jeju many times with family and friends, he'd never been this far away from the main tourist areas. He'd expected them to head directly to the beach, so this was a surprise.
"So, I just realized I forgot to tell you the exact schedule for the day," Chaeyoung gave him a sheepish smile as she hopped off the helicopter and they began walking through the field. She looked so cute that he couldn't help smiling back.
"As you can see," she spread her arms wide to the field, "we are in the middle of nowhere. But, there's a long trail along the border of the island that will take us to where our car is parked. It's going to be about a 10 km hike."
Jungkook laughed in surprise, "wow, it's a good thing I'm physically active. I can't imagine what the old guy or the bald man who were bidding on you would do if they had won."
"Can we please not talk about the old guy or the bald man?" she looked like just thinking about them brought back traumatic memories.
Jungkook smirked, deciding to have some fun, "just tell me this, out of the two of them, which one would you have chosen?"
Chaeyoung scrunched her nose in aversion, "neither."
"If you absolutely had to," he pressed on. For some reason, he was really curious now.
"I would choose...." She paused for dramatic effect, "you." And then she flashed him a breathtaking smile that stunned him for a couple seconds.
"Smooth," he said sarcastically, but grinned.
"After our walk, we're going to drive to one of my favourite restaurants in Jeju and have lunch. Then, we're going paragliding. After that, we'll head to the beach where we'll start off by scuba diving and wakeboarding. Lastly, we'll chill by a fire in the evening, eat smores and call it a night!" she explained with excitement. All the activities were things Jungkook had done many times before, so it didn't sound like a bad day at all.
The beginning of the walk led through green grass, with chunks of daisies and roses spread out along the path. The trail also provided a constant view of the ocean, the low sounds of waves splashing along the shores creating a peaceful vibe.
"How are you doing after the bombing incident?" Jungkook asked as they continued walking. He probably should have asked this sooner, but her outfit had distracted him too much to think of anything else.
Chaeyoung exhaled a small, shaky breath before answering, "I'm still upset about the whole thing, but I know there are ways we can help my patients as they wait for new housing. How are you doing? You're the one that was nearly blown up for no reason"
"Entering dangerous situations is what I do for a living, Chaeyoung," Jungkook smirked, "that was nothing."
Chaeyoung gave him a sideways glance, "I don't think that's something you should be bragging about."
"Says you," Jungkook laughed, "you're in a dangerous situation every time I see you."
Chaeyoung stopped walking and put her hands on her hips, "those were just coincidences."
"Sure thing, sweetheart," Jungkook replied sarcastically and flashed her a smirk.
Chaeyoung blew a strand of hair out of her face in frustration but began walking again, having to jog lightly to keep up with Jungkook's longer strides. He was purposefully walking faster so he could see her cutely trying to catch up and to also witness the pretty colour rising to her cheeks from the increased activity.
About halfway through their walk, they reached a steep, rocky hill. Just as they were about to climb it, Chaeyoung intertwined her hands with Jungkook's - catching him by complete surprise. Her hands were warm and soft, and her slender fingers fit in between his perfectly, like pieces of the same puzzle. The only kind of hand holding he was used to was the aggressive way he held a woman's hand in bed as a form of restraint, not as an act of romance. So, this was a strange, new sensation to him. He glanced at their interlaced hands and then up at Chaeyoung, questioningly.
She met his eyes and grinned, "thought you might appreciate the extra support as we climb the hill. I don't want you to fall or anything."
Jungkook chuckled, "just admit you wanted to hold my hand. No need to come up with excuses."
Chaeyoung scoffed and abruptly pulled her hand away from his, "you're impossible."
He laughed and took hold of her hand again, leading them up the incline of the hill. After 20 minutes of intense muscle usage, pained grunts, and a couple curse words, they made it to the top. Beads of sweat had formed on their foreheads and their breaths came out in short, rapid puffs; but, as they stood on top of the hill together and looked down at the breathtaking scenery of Jeju island, they were stunned.
Their spot provided a perfect view of the entire island, showcasing it's colourful, verdant landscapes, and the endless, sapphire-blue ocean surrounding it. A refreshing breeze ran through their hair and played with their clothes as they admired the scenery in silence, their hands still clasped together. Jungkook momentarily closed his eyes, inhaling the fresh air, that carried a hint of Chaeyoung's scent with it, deeply. He let go of her hand to step behind her and wrap his arms around her waist, pulling her back close to his chest. It would've been impossible for any man to experience this spectacular sight with such a beautiful woman and not do what Jungkook did. Even though there was no point in pursuing his feelings for Chaeyoung, even though they could never be together, even though he didn't "do dates", this was his way of living in the moment. If this date was his only chance to satisfy his heart, he was going to make the best of it and use this time wisely.
He expected Chaeyoung to become tense or push him away, but she leaned against him comfortably and placed her hands on his lightly. Her long hair floated with the wind, softly brushed against his cheek and her floral-coconut scent became more potent with their proximity. Jungkook dipped his head down to her bare shoulder and inhaled in pleasure, completely intoxicated by everything about her.
"Couldn't keep your hands to yourself?" she teased in a soft voice that made every nerve in Jungkook's body tingle with desire.
Jungkook couldn't resist brushing his lips against her shoulder softly before responding, "just trying to keep you warm."
She laughed lightly, her body moving against his, "just admit that you wanted to hold me. No need to come up with excuses."
He smiled in amusement at her use of his own line against him and then placed a soft kiss at the base of her warm neck.
"Fine," he murmured in her ear, "I want to hold you in my arms. Tightly. I want to feel every inch of your beautiful body against mine and breathe in your intoxicating scent every time I inhale. But, you know what I want most of all?"
He glided his hands down to either side of her hips and turned her sharply towards him, pulling her so close that their foreheads were touching and he could feel the quick tempo of her heart beat against his chest. Their lips were only separated by a couple centimetres, causing their rapid, shallow breaths to intermingle in the air. She met his heated gaze with glowing, chocolate-brown eyes that set his heart on fire every time he looked into them.
"Most of all, I want to feel your lips against mine in a deep, passionate, mind-blowing kiss," he breathed against her lips, "but the problem is, if I start kissing you now, I don't think I'll be able to stop."
She exhaled shakily and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer, "then, don't stop."
And that was all Jungkook needed to hear before completely closing the distance between them and kissing her. His lips moved with hers slowly and deeply, savouring the way her soft, full lips felt against his. Somehow, he managed to pull her even tighter against his chest as his hands roamed across her waist and lower back. He couldn't get enough of the way her curves felt underneath his hands and the way her body fit perfectly with his, like two halves of a perfect whole. Her hands knotted through his hair as she kissed him back, their movements completely in synch with one another. The sweet taste of her vanilla lip balm drove him wild as he deepened the kiss, making it more passionate and intense. Chaeyoung sighed faintly against his lips, causing a shiver to run down his spine and motivating him to kiss her harder. His expert tongue caressed her bottom lip lightly, craving to taste more. She granted him entry by parting her mouth wider, allowing their tongues to meet and tangle together wildly. After a couple seconds, he captured her bottom lip with his teeth and slowly pulled away, finally giving them a chance to breath.
"Please tell me you felt the spark too," Jungkook whispered, breathing rapidly.
She gazed up at him, her eyes sparkling with wonder, "I felt goddamn fireworks."
