Demi's POV
I haven't left the house for almost 4 days now I'm a mess without Alex I've never felt this broken in a long time ever since I was 16, Dallas called me today and she said she was coming over to help cheer me up but I know that wouldn't work I sighed and decided to go get cleaned up before she got here I look in the mirror and my eyes are swollen from all the crying I took a quick shower and got dressed and I hear the doorbell ring and went to answer it and it was Dallas and she brought someone along with her and it was my mom
"Mom what are you doing here you didn't like Alex in the first place." I said
"Sweetheart listen to me I understand how much she means to you and I made a mistake for not listening to you before I've seen what she's done for you and how much she loves you and I was stupid for not seeing that before I'm sorry." she said
she hugs me and I quietly sob in her arms and Dallas hugs me as well and she asks
"She still doesn't know who you are huh.?" she said
"No I talked to her yesterday and she had no idea of what we had before the shooting and the doctor said it can take forever to get her memory back I can't wait forever I-I love her so much." I said
"Demi it'll take time for her brain to adjust to this and you have to be strong for her and overtime she will remember." Dallas said to me
"That's the thing that sucks is that how long would it take what if she falls in love with somebody else I can't handle the thought of losing the girl of my dreams Dallas I can't.!" I said
she pulls me into a hug and I sob in her shoulder I notice my mom looking out the window and I look out as well and I see Alex park her car in her drive way and head she walks inside I sob even harder and my mom says
"Honey I'll be right back I forgot something in the car." she said
I was still holding onto Dallas and crying in her arms and she holds onto to me and tells me that everythings okay and I kept wishing that it was but it probably never will be.
Dianna's POV
I didn't know that Alex lived next to Demi I walk towards her house and walk up the porch and knock on her door
"Coming!" I hear someone say
I hear footsteps running down the stairs and I hear the lock on the door open and I see Alex standing in her doorway and I say
"Hey can I help you with something.?" she says politely
"Hi I'm Dianna I'm Demi's mother."
"Oh hi nice to meet you would you like to come in or something.?"
"Um no thank you I'm actually quite in a hurry actually Demi isn't doing too good." I said
"Oh really.?Is she okay.?"she said
"She's just really under the weather right now and she's just really sad." I said
"Oh I saw her the other day and I tried cheering her up but it didn't work.?"
"Oh Alex mind if I ask you something.?"
she looks at me confused and says
"Yeah go ahead I don't mind.?"
"Do you remember your relationship with Demi.?" I said
she sighs and says
"No I don't all I know is she's my neighbor and I took a bullet to the chest for her and that's all I really know about her besides that I'm sorry." she says
"Oh okay well I should get back to Demi take care sweetheart." I said
"You too thanks for dropping by." she says with a smile and closes the door.
I walk back inside Demi's house and she looks at me and says
"What took you so long you've been gone for 10 minutes.?" she said
"Oh I was trying to find something Maddie made for you but I guess I left it at home sorry Demi." I said
she wipes her tears and says
"It's fine you guys should go I really need to get my shit together." she said
"Okay but call if you need anything Demi okay I love you so much and watch your language." I said
she smiles at me and giggles a little
"Okay I will bye mom bye Dallas."
"Bye baby sister hope you feel better okay stay strong Demi it'll all be okay love you." Dallas says
"love you too say hi to Maddie and Dad for me." she says
" I will bye Demi." Dallas says
"Bye" she said
Dallas and I walk out and head home as we're driving Dallas tells me
"Mom what REALLY took you so long and tell me the truth." she said
I sigh and I say
"I was talking to Alex."
"What.!?! where.?? how.?wait like on the phone.? Dallas Said
"No in person." I said
"What did you say.? what did she say.?" she said
"I told her if she remembers." I said
"And... What did she say!?!" she said getting anxious to hear my answer
"She doesn't all she knows is she took a bullet for Demi and their neighbors she doesn't remember a thing."
"Oh my god do you believe she'll ever recover from this.?" she said
"I don't know only time will tell."
Alex's POV
I get some stuff ready for the movie night at Jennifer's house I got some popcorn,movies and sodas ready I grab my keys and head outside once I reach the trunk of my car I hear a piano playing in the distance I look over and see Demi playing her piano in her room then the name Nightingale pops back inside my head then more names were repeating in my head as the melodys kept playing
"Can you be my Nightingale sing to me I know you're there." I said to myself
I get in my car and the words kept repeating in my head I decided to just drive and go to Jennifer's house I get off the car and get greeted by Jolene,Jennifer,Perla and Hailey we go inside and as Jennifer is making the popcorn I decided to look through the movie stash Jennifer had under the tv and one caught my eye in particular the cover was blank I look at it confused and I ask Jennifer
"Hey Jen what's this.?"
"Oh I don't know play it and see what comes up." she says
"Are you sure it's not some weird movie sex scene." I said laughing
We all laugh and without hesitation I put the disk in the dvd player and I press play and Lana del rey Young and Beautiful started playing
"Cool it's The Great Gatsby I love this movie." said Jolene
Then I see Demi and I in the video and we're dancing then I get down on one knee and propose to Demi then Hailey says
"No it isn't it's...." Hailey said before I interupted her
"It's my proposal to Demi from our trip to Barbados." I say
Then I remembered everything I remember what Nightingale means it all came back to me and I say
"Oh my god I remember! I remember everything!"
I grab my keys and Hailey runs after me
"Alex where are you going.?!?" Hailey says
"To be with my fiance Hailey I fucking love her and you didn't tell me about her! but now I know I remember and I'm going to be with her like I should've been this whole time Hailey I'll always love you but we can only be friends and it's always going to stay that way." I said
I look over at Jolene and say to Hailey
"Someone else loves you and you're too blind to notice it I'll see you guys later love you guys bye." I said
"Go get her Alex!." yelled Jennifer
I get in my car and drive I didn't care how fast I was going I had to get home as fast as I could
"Here I come Demi." I said
Demi's POV
I can't handle this pain anymore I need something to get my mind off of it my eyes are swollen from non stop crying and I no longer wanted to feel this way I was heartbroken and I needed to release it I look over to my bathroom sink and find my razor blade I slowly get up from the couch and I walk over to the sink and the voices in my head kept saying
"Do it it'll help you get better."
I pick up the razor and I cry harder knowing that I'm breaking without Alex here with me. I slowly place the razor on my wrist and I cry once I feel it cut my skin I fall onto the floor in tears and I see blood running down my wrist I grab the razor and I was about to cut myself one more time and I hear someone scream
"DEMI STOP!"
Alex's POV
I speed down my neighborhood and park my car in her driveway and run towards her door the door was locked and I kicked it open I see Demi on the bathroom floor crying and holding onto a razor blade I run over to her and yell
"DEMI STOP!"
I kneel down and I take the blade away from her and I wrap my arms around her and she's sobbing uncontrollably and she holds onto me tight and I look at her wrist and she's bleeding I put pressure on it and I look into her eyes and say
"I remember,I remember everything Demi I love you no matter what you're my one and only and I love you our love is strong Demi " I say
Demi's POV
I couldn't believe it Alex was here with me and I cry holding onto her and she looks into my eyes and says
"I remember! I remember everything Demi I love you no matter what you're my one and only and I love you our love is strong Demi."
"I missed you I love you Alex I'm so happy you remember I-I love you so much." I say
I wrap my arms around her neck and we kiss passionately and I hug her one last time and she helps me up and bandages my wrist and kisses the scars on my wrist and she hugs me and kiss my head I hold onto her and my head is resting on her chest I smile knowing I have my fiance back in my arms again
