Alex's POV
After Demi drops me off I walk up to my porch and I see her park her car two houses down from me and I see the sadness in her eyes like if she had been heartbroken or something I didn't know her that well but I decided to see her later to make sure she's okay I walk up to my room and shower and decided to take a nap I felt exhausted and I wanted to get enough rest to go see Hailey I close my eyes and fall asleep.
Demi's POV
I never felt this much pain in my life how can this happen how can the girl I love not remember me she doesn't even remember that we're engaged! I collapse in my bed sobbing and I didn't know what to do I look out my window and I see the lights on in her bedroom and I saw her looking around seeing the picture frames on the wall and smiling she closes her blinds and I bury my head into my pillow and yelled really loud and I look over to the nightstand and I see her Letterman jacket there and a picture of us on our first date I cry harder and I didn't know what else to do I walk over to the bathroom and wash my face my eyes were swollen from all the crying. As I was about to leave I notice a razor blade in the cabinet I held it in my hand and I was fighting off the urges but they got the best of me and before I knew it I had 4 cuts on my wrist I didn't feel pain from it anymore but after 5 minutes I felt guilty I felt sick to my stomach I wipe my tears and fell asleep hoping this pain would go away.
*3 days later*
Alex's POV
I get dressed and eat some breakfast I decided to go and visit Hailey again Jolene,Jennifer and Perla were going to meet me there so I had enough time to go. As I grab my keys and head for my car I notice Demi sitting on her front porch I sigh and walk over to her and when she sees me her eyes brighten and she smiles but I see her eyes and they looked swollen has she been crying.?
"Hey Demi." I said
"Hey Alex h-how are you today.?" she asked me
"I'm good I'm going to visit Hailey again with the rest of my friends." I said
I look into her eyes she seemed broken I can see the pain in her eyes she looks like she's going to break any minute I was getting worried so I had to ask her
"Demi is everything okay you look like you've been crying.?"
she looks down and she's biting her lip trying hard not to cry I kneel down and lift her chin up and I say
"hey..hey look at me it's alright what's wrong Demi.?"
she looks into my eyes and bursts into tears and hugs me tight and I gently hug her back and she says
"Alex please you have to remember me everything we've been through everything that we've faced our love matters and I know you don't remember but please Alex you have too." she says
I didn't know what to say to be honest I never seen anyone this heartbroken especially for a relationship that I don't remember being in.
"Demi...I don't know what to say I wish I can remember what you said but I can't and I don't want to see you like this please Demi just remember I'm right next door if you need me okay.?" I said
she nods and cries more I hug her one last time and I get up and walk down the steps of her porch I turn around and I see her wave at me and I see tears fall from her eyes I gave a small wave and walked away to my car heading to the hospital to see Hailey.
I get there 15 minutes later and I walk up into Hailey's room and Jennifer,Perla and Jolene haven't showed up yet I walk over to Hailey and I see her moving and I'm holding her hand and I say
"Hailey.?! C'mon Hailey wake up please."
"A..Alex..." she says
"I'm here Hailey I'm here!" I say
Her eyes slowly open and she smiles at me and her hand is on holding onto my cheek and the doctor come in and check her to see if she's okay and after 5 minutes the doctors leave and she calls me back into her room and she smiles at me and we hug each other and I say
"I thought I lost you Hailey thank god you're okay!" I said feeling tears fill my eyes
she wipes some of my tears away and with her thumb and we're face to face
"How long was I gone for Alex.?" she tells me
"I don't know we both came here together I don't remember a lot Demi told me everything but I don't know who she was all I know is she's my neighbor and some other stuff but that's pretty much it." I said
"Wait you don't remember Demi.?" She said
"I barley know her Hailey I talked to her today because she was crying and she told me I have to remember her and everything we've been through but I can't she seemed really hurt do you know her Hailey.? I said
"Very little." she said
"Oh...Well anyway how do you feel Hailey are you okay.?" I said
"I'm okay as long as you're here with me." she said
I see her lean in closer to me and she kissed me and I kissed back and we break away and she hugs me. I felt guilty for some reason like if I had done something wrong and I didn't know why I felt like this after a few minutes Jolene,Jennifer and Perla walk in and they all run up to Hailey and we hug each other and we're in tears and Jennifer says
"Hey Hailey since you're all better now let's have a movie night at my house tomorrow the doctor said you can leave today you can get some rest and tomorrow we can all hang out together like the old days." she says
"Sounds like fun sure let's do it." Hailey says
"Cool we're gonna have so much fun I'll call the strippers!." said Jennifer
We laugh and we all get ready to leave as we're walking out Jolene grabs my arm and says
"I saw you kiss Hailey are you two a thing.?"
"No but I love her and she kissed me but I don't know." I said
"Alex I don't care who kissed who you're with someone.!" she says
"With who do you mean Demi.?" I said
"Yes with Demi you honestly don't remember!" she says
"No I don't okay I didn't know who she was until the day I woke up from my coma and all I know is she's my damn neighbor!" I said already getting annoyed
I see Jolene getting upset and she looks at me and she gives me a serious look and says
"She's more than just your neighbor she's someone you would never wanted to forget about." she says and she walks away
I sigh and I put my hands on my head in frustration I don't know what to do anymore I was brought back to reality by Hailey having her arm around me and she said
"Hey can you give me a ride home Jennifer's car is too crowded." she says
"Sure but can we stop by my house for a minute I need to pick up something." I said
"Sure that's cool." She said she smiles and kisses my cheek and walks away
I sigh and get up and walk to my car as we're driving down the road to my house I pull into the driveway and Hailey holds my hand and says
"Alex are you okay.?"
"Yeah I'm fine."
"Are you sure.?"
"Yeah I am wanna come with me upstairs.?" I say
she nods and we head upstairs into my room she sits down on the bed and I decided to give her a bottle of water I had on my desk I look over at my desk and I see a picture of Demi and I and the name Nightingale pops into my head
"Hailey do you know what.." I was interrupted by Hailey's lips crashing onto mine the kiss get's intense and we fall on the bed and she's on top of me and she was taking off my shirt leaving me in my sports bra I'm breathing heavily and I look at the picture frame of Demi and I and the guilt came back I look at Hailey and say
"I can't do this Hailey you're my best friend and I don't wantt to ruin what we have and I don't know why I feel so much guilt right now but I just can't I'm sorry." I said
she gets off me and lays down next to me and says
"It's okay I'm sorry I did that I don't know what came over me." she said
"It's okay look it's getting late want me to drop you off at home.?"
"Yeah please I miss my parents and I need some rest." she says
We laugh and walk downstairs and head to my car Hailey grabs me by the arm and hugs me and I take her home. I get to my room and I lay in my bed and the name Nightingale keeps repeating in my head and I said to myself
"What does that mean.? why can't I get that name out of my head.?" I said before I fell asleep
